Two worlds. One based in science. One based in magic. And the girl who somehow bridged both.
A magical blight is sweeping through the seven kingdoms forcing the magic to act erratically. In the human world, an old enemy is rising, plunging both worlds into a war that neither side can win. She is a weaver, someone that is new to her powers, and the only thing that stands between them and total ruin. But words have power, and once spoken, some cannot be undone.
I actually really enjoyed the descriptions and magical world building. Many different worlds, beings, and creatures that made such a great story. I just felt like it was a bit rushed in places but nice overall!
I was initially drawn in by the beautiful cover. I was quickly swept away into a magical world that had a lot of potential. I absolutely loved the book of creatures and how it was portrayed, but unfortunately, this story didn't hold together well. It reminds me a bit of a dream. The story jumps around a lot and somehow you never know how you got from one place to the next. Unfortunately, the author uses a lot of 'he' and 'she' rather than references who is talking, which also makes the conversation format very confusing and hard to follow. Several scenes I wasn't even sure which characters were present, let alone speaking. I would have loved to have seen more background information in terms of details describing the scene rather than just conversation. I think this book has potential, but it needs some major work.
Loved it! The mythkins descriptions is very creative and gave immediatly a sense of magical fairy tale and I loved every page. I also enjoyed the particular way to refer to the passing of time it helped living the experience at best. I can say I really enjoy the spicy too! Lyris is quite the strong and leading lady! I liked that much. Very well done!
I was really looking forward to reading this book. I was really disappointed by how poorly written it was. The story jumps around, more often than not you are left to guess the whom or where as it's not been explained or described to you. The story doesn't make sense in more places than not and it's just really disappointing. Wouldn't recommend it, sorry.
This book was such a fun adventure. There were so many different creatures and powers and worlds! I loved diving into all of it. I only wish there was more at times during the book when it felt like things were rushed. Other than that it was amazing and would definitely recommend!
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Mythkin was an interesting read, the world and magic is different from anything that I have read, the characters are interesting and entertaining.
I had just a little difficulty figuring out the time lines in the beginning, but after a couple chapters was able to figure it out and enjoy the book over all. It’s got a feel like a court of thorns and roses.
All in all I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next book. 😊
