Everything was a lie, fake, a façade of beauty to cover the ugly truth.
Sloane Ellis has a secret—actually, she has many. Working in a sex club wasn't part of her life plan, yet neither was her best friend vanishing without a trace. The club and her missing friend go hand and hand. One secret leads to another until the lies pile up. After months of working undercover in the club her friend frequented, Sloane's no closer to finding answers, the police have no leads, and time is quickly running out. The last thing Sloane needs is the newest member of the club, Adam Newcomb complicating her mission and stealing her heart. Yet with one kiss, she falls. But you know what they say about secrets—they have a way of coming out, and when they do, Sloane's life crumbles for the second time—this time destroying her chances of a happily ever after with the man she loves.
Working undercover is old hat for Asher Noble. This assignment should be no different, hell, it wasn't any different until he met Sloane Ellis, event coordinator for Club Joi. She's hiding something, but so is Asher. She does her job with a smile, but there's an underlying sadness mixed with disgust. She has less interest in working in a sex club than Asher has watching the nightly performances. There's no room for distractions when a young woman's life and freedom is on the line, yet a kiss changes everything. A kiss that never should've happened. A kiss that leads a man pretending to be someone else to risk everything to protect the woman he's fallen for.
Sloane Ellis must decide if she can trust Asher Noble when she realizes he's not who he pretended to be. Asher must save the woman he loves from disappearing into the same nightmare world as her best friend. Together, they must stop a monster before he claims more lives.
Takeback is an off-the-books, special operations task force composed of military contractors and US Marshals. Their mission is simple—to save those who have been taken.
Riley Edwards is a Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestselling author, wife, and military mom. Riley was born and raised in Los Angeles but now resides on the east coast with her fantastic husband and children.
Riley writes heart-stopping romance with sexy alpha heroes and even stronger heroines. Riley's favorite genres to write are romantic suspense and military romance.
I want to start this review off saying I LOVE Riley and her books. I have read them all. However this one just didn’t do it for me. This story follows Sloane and Asher and their story. Sloane takes a job at a sex club to find her friend (Elise) and is where she meets Asher. You learn in the first 10%, ad nauseam, how much they both hate sex clubs and kinks. In addition, there were some obvious mistakes made that should have been caught by editors. “Guild me in” (instead of guide) “Sitting across from Sloane with f***ing torture” I wasn’t even upset that Elise was found dead, it was not written in a way to make the reader feel anything in my opinion. The time passing in Idaho didn’t seem to be clearly identified. Possibly 3 weeks passed from arriving to Idaho and when they found Sloane and the drama lasted less than one chapter. If this had not been a Riley book it probably would have either been a DNF or a skip ahead to find out what happened since all the books characters are interconnected.

So I can honestly say...this isn't my favorite of this series so far. It was just ok for me, which is not the normal when I read this author's books! Normally I am hooked from the start and don't want to put it down! That wasn't the case this time, and I had a hard time connecting to it. Asher was a decent character, but I didn't like how he would try to ignore his gut in some instances. And in doing so, do some things that I don't think he would do-regardless of whether he was undercover or not. It just didn't ring true for him. Sloane I actually did like. I loved how much she cared about her roommate and what she was willing to do to try to find her. But it all seemed anticlimactic when everything came together. And what happened to the other girl from the club?? I almost felt like I was left hanging and was waiting for another chapter to appear to tie it all together. But, it was still a decent read. And I know there are going to be people who love it-it just wasn't me this time. And you honestly can't love every story, there is always a one off for someone! I will be back to read the next one though, especially as the lead in to it has already intrigued me!
Dangerous Encounter is probably my favourite in the Takeback series so far and that is saying something because it’s a really good series! I flat out adore Sloane, she is honest, funny, big-hearted, so loyal and the best friend you could ever want and the perfect foil for the delicious Asher. Sloane and Asher meet on a lie, tangled in a web of secrets and a burning attraction. Undercover at the sex club where Sloane works investigating human trafficking , Asher knows she is hiding something, Sloane is desperately searching for information about her missing friend and something about sexy new member Adam Newcomb (Asher) doesn’t quite add up, her life is complicated enough without the feelings he evokes in her and those secrets keep growing. I was gripped from the start, Asher and Sloane are such brilliant characters and they draw you into their story, watching them unravel their secrets and open up to each other was magic and touching, I was completely invested, loved the lists and all Asher’s reasons! There are plenty of emotional ups and downs, I defy anyone to get to the end without tears, no spoilers but there are some heart-shattering, beautifully written scenes in there, but then the whole book is well written. You will smile and laugh out loud as well, typical Riley Edwards humour, the nut-busting will never get old with this team of men with teenage humour. Do I recommend this story? - yes so much, it’s a love story, there’s suspense, a whole spectrum of emotion, wonderful characters and their humour all beautifully written around the hard-hitting theme of human trafficking. Can be read as a stand-alone but much better to read the other books in the series first. I received an arc from the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This one sort of feels like 2 books, what happened in CA and what happened in ID. I have to admire Sloane for never giving up on her friend, for going to work at a place she found distasteful to try to find her friend, even if it was stupid. But I get it, no one seemed to be doing anything, so she needed to. I'm glad that she found Asher and that despite meeting him at the club, he was a good guy, a good guy who could help her find her friend.
I really liked how Sloane was brought into the fold with the girls once they got back to ID, it was just the thing she needed. But the best was how the girls talked about how Sloane's friends in CA should have acted with Elsie, that is real friendship.
I loved how this one ended, loved that Sloane took what Asher told her about nut busting and put it in action, there by saving herself enough until the guys got there to finish things off.
It's always a treat when an author bases a story in a place/city you're familiar with. Dangerous Encounter occurs in the area I lived and worked for most of my life. I didn't have to imagine a locale because I most likely have been there a number of times. There's something sinister going on at Club Joi. It's not overt but the vibe is there. Playing roles that are the antithesis of their true selves, Sloane Ellis and Asher Noble are working the same problem but from different angles. She's trying to find her missing best friend. He's undercover. But the electricic sizzle that Sloane and Asher give off is so hot that anyone standing within 25 feet of them is in danger of getting burned. Phew!!
Every time I read a Takeback book, I think this is the best one. This one is the same. The reasoning behind this one is sad and so horrendous that it really happens. Who could be into this crap. Trafficking is disgusting but real. I am so beyond happy that there are people like Takeback to try to stop it. Sloane and Asher may have both been undercover but they were instantly drawn to each other. I am so happy she found true friends and I want to visit a store just like Smutties. If you want to read a real heartwarming amazing story, this is it!!
This one was definitely better than the last. Dangerous Encounter (book four in the TAKEBACK series) leaned more into the kind of romantic suspense I actually enjoy—stronger female lead, cleaner pacing, and a storyline that didn’t drown in emotional monologues. It still had Riley Edwards’ usual intensity, but this time it felt more controlled and far more readable.
We’ve got Asher Noble, undercover in a high-end sex club, and Sloane Ellis, the club’s event manager quietly investigating her friend’s disappearance. The setup works, the tension builds, and thankfully, the emotional tone doesn’t spiral into overwritten chaos.
Sloane is strong without being overexplained or made to narrate her inner strength every three pages, and Asher—while still very much a Riley Edwards alpha—manages to be intense without being overbearing. Their dynamic builds in a way that actually makes sense, and the chemistry lands without racing straight to the “you’re mine forever” territory on page ten.
The suspense angle holds together well. It adds momentum without hijacking the entire book, and I didn’t feel the need to skim just to escape another soul-searching inner monologue. It still leans dramatic in places, but not in a way that pulled me out.
It’s not a favorite, but it’s a stronger entry in the series. If the tone stays here—emotional without being overwrought, sexy without being ridiculous—I’ll keep going.
Narration-wise, John Lane still isn’t my favorite, but I do like Vanessa Edwin, and they paired pretty well overall.

My Rating Scale for Reviews
⭐ 1 – Not for Me: Struggled to finish or didn’t finish. The writing, characters, pacing, or narration (if audiobook) really didn’t work for me. ⭐ 2 – Disappointing: Had some good elements (world-building, action, romance, etc.), but too many issues kept me from fully enjoying it. Either the character choices, writing, or narration pulled me out of the story too much. ⭐ 3 – Good / Solid: A normal, enjoyable read. Glad I read it, and it was solid overall, but nothing particularly standout. Might have had some things I didn’t love, but I still had a good time with it. ⭐ 3.5 – Better Than Good: A strong read with clear standout moments – whether in character dynamics, world-building, or writing. Maybe not a full favorite, but it left a positive impression and I’d recommend it to the right reader. ⭐ 4 – Amazing: A strong read with very little wrong, but just didn’t quite hit that rare, reread-worthy 5. Still an excellent book I’d easily recommend. ⭐ 5 – Flawless / Unforgettable: One of my absolute favorites. A book I’d reread and still love just as much. Perfect blend of storytelling, characters, romance, and action. Sticks with me long after I finish. I don’t give this rating often!
How is it possible…. To fall for another couple so effortlessly and completely…..again???? Asher and Sloane are THE COUPLE and once again this author delivers another read that will wreck you and still make you want more more more. Asher is undercover at a s** club and has had his eye on Sloane from the beginning. He knows she’s different from the rest of everyone who is at the club and since she is the event planner, she may know more about the nefarious trafficking that may be linked to the club but his gut says she’s innocent to the dark side the club may be involved in…the question is why is she there? Sloane hates the club, she doesn’t participate and will not view the acts but she is on a mission to find her best friend who frequented the club and has been missing for many months. Everyone else has given up but she is determined to find out what happened to her. She has noticed “Adam” since the beginning and is drawn to him, he doesn’t participate and doesn’t engage any of the women and is willing to get close to him if he can get her in the inner circle to find her bestie….lines are blurred and crossed and when she finally “gives in” to Asher….will she walk away when she finds out the truth. HOLY SMOKES….these two were fire and a word of warning….ice cold drink with plenty of ice in it to cool you down. These two were THE couple but then again all the couples this author has written were THE couple and has proven time and time again…one click author for many many readers. The story flowed beautifully, the steam…ahem…steam…the humour (busting a nut), the suspense, the emotional scenes that will have you reaching for a tissue, the no drama (which I LOVE) and the AMAZING characters all around…a read worth more than 5 stars!!! *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Dangerous Encounter is the fourth audiobook in Riley Edwards’ fantastic Takeback series. This audiobook centers around Takeback member, Asher Noble, and Sloane Ellis. Asher is working undercover for Takeback at a sex club suspected of human trafficking, and event coordinator, Sloane, is also undercover at the club, unbeknownst to Asher. While Asher is on mission at the club for Takeback, Sloane is on a personal mission to find her missing roommate. Although there’s an immediate attraction between them, Sloane is absolutely not interested in getting romantically involved with a member of a sex club. Once they finally uncover each other’s secret identities and give in to the attraction between them, the result is nothing short of explosive. But with the situation heating up at the club, their respective secrets are the least of their worries. They have their hands full with trying to save the women in danger and keeping themselves alive. This story is non-stop action and intrigue coupled with a more than ample serving of spicy romance. And it kept me enthralled from start to finish.
This was due in no small part to the narration of Vanessa Edwin and John Lane. They bring the deliciously provocative words of Riley Edwards to life with engaging and unforgettable performances. Vanessa Edwin is riveting in the role of Sloane, flawlessly portraying the character’s vulnerability as well as her strength. And John Lane is the ideal choice for the alpha protector that is Asher Noble, perfectly portraying the man’s undeniable charisma as well as his loyal, steadfast, and open heart. Together, these two talented voice performers elevate this incredible story to that of an absolute must-listen for any fan of romantic suspense… or just romance in general.
This book was definitely a nail biter. It seems like the suspense level in the last two books in this series has been ramped way up. I found myself on the edge of my seat, waiting for Asher or Sloane to slip up.
Asher and Sloane are both undercover at a sex club. Asher is investigating if everything is above board and Sloane is looking for information about her missing best friend. They have an immediate reaction to each other but try to deny their feelings because of their individual investigations. When Asher discovers why Sloane is working as an event coordinator at the sex club he’s investigating, everything changes for him. Although he doesn’t see how they can have a future, he’s invested in Sloane’s safety and helping her find her friend.
Their investigation takes a turn and when Sloane’s life is now in danger, Asher whisks her away to Idaho to keep her safe. I love that as strong as Sloane is, when she sees she’s in danger, she doesn’t fight Asher. She accepts his plan to keep her safe without question. While in Idaho the couple grows closer and they can no longer fight their attraction. Asher brings her into the circle, and Brooklyn, Letty, and Sadie welcome her into their group.
This book was about finding love in the darkest time in your life. It was about the bonds of true friendship and what you’re willing to give up to find answers. It was a great addition to this series, I just wish there were a few chapters after everything was wrapped up to get a better glimpse into Sloane and Asher’s happily ever after.
Oh my goodness, such a great read. Sloane’s best friend is missing and the last place she was is Club Joi. Sloane hasn't given up and thinks that someone took her best friend and someone in the club knows what happened. Sloane is an event planner and has decided that maybe by working at Club Joi she can figure out what happened to her friend. Asher is under cover at the club trying to ascertain if sex trafficking is occurring. He is pretty sure Sloane has nothing to do with it but he keeps getting mixed signals. Asher knows that there is something different about Sloane, she doesn't enjoy being at the club and most of the time she hides her thoughts but he needs to figure out what is going on and see if his gut is right about Sloane. He gets close to her but tries to keep her at a distance but that all backfires when the owner's son realizes he has been taking an interest in Sloane. Sloane overhears a conversation she shouldn't and almost gets caught eavesdropping. She covers but isn't sure if the bad guy buys her story or not. She tells Asher and he decides it is time to pull her out and take her to Idaho where it's safer. He has told her a specific way to keep herself safe and the guys love it. Well just as long as they are not on the receiving end of it. In the end this comes in handy. Get ready to laugh. Great read with laughter, tears and more laughter. Just love the guys at Takeback. Their women are pretty awesome too. One can never have too many friends.
Hi Allyson, dangerous encounters review. P.s. I'm still a River girl 🥰🥰🥰 Well, straight away, I could tell I was in for a hot start. These Takeback boys are just wonderfully awesome. We pick up with Club Joy. And away the chemistry, mystery, angst, the forbidden and hotness, rolled. The h was so brave to follow up on her decision. She was tuned in and smart. It was amusing to watch the H and h run interference and play 20 questions with each other, not realising they were looking for the same thing. This mission was one of the subtle ones with the h and H doing a delicate but dangerous dance under the noses of adversaries. It was an edge of your seat waiting for the penny to drop moment for me. Things became scary, and I knew it was going to be a big one. In saying that, I kinda wanted to shake the h when she left the H out of it all, but thankfully, she did finally redeem herself. The fist pumping moment for me was the surfacing of past favourite characters, just as awesome as the suspense and action. I laughed at the quips about muffins and nuts. The H was a yummy alpha with the best chemistry for his h, and he was so good for the emotional sadness that the h endured. However, I'm still a River girl. Another awesome book. Thanks, Riley. I just loved Vanessa's narration. Her male voice interpretation is just awesome . And John Lane, omg, his gravelly voice is swoon worthy.
If you've seen or read any of my reviews on one of Riley Edwards' books, you know I am a HUGE fan. Not just of Riley [the person] but of her writing as well. I always know that ANY book I pick up from Ms. Edwards is going to be epic. I know to BRACE. I know to have the tissues ready. I know the book is going to change me. And Riley's newest book, Dangerous Encounters does it again.
As with any of Riley’s books, yes, they can be read as stand alone books. But WHY would you want to do that? Why deprive yourself of the wonder and enjoyment she brings with her books.
Riley Edwards puts EVERYTHING in this book. Pain, anguish, love, hate, laughter, tears. Any and every emotion. You feel. You taste. You live. Riley doesn’t sugar coat the relationship between Sloane and Asher. They are REAL. Their struggle to find beauty is not an easy road. It is gritty and hard. This is LIFE. You have to fight for the good and work for the happy.
Riley Edwards did a phenomenal job with this book. The writing, characters and backstory are the trifecta that makes this book exceptional. Even though I've finished my read of Dangerous Encounter, I am not sad. I know I will run Sloane, Asher, and the Takeback team again. Just like I know that Riley Edwards will turn me out and make me feel. And I’ll keep coming back for more.
Honestly, every couple that comes to life from the pen of Riley Edwards instantly becomes my favorite. Sloane and Asher were no different. Their chemistry is electric, even when Asher doesn’t seem to be the good guy that he really is…and even Sloane’s motives start to look shifty to him. Of course, their meeting is not anywhere near the territory of a meet-cute…they usually aren’t when dealing with the Takeback crew. There’s always an underlying danger or at least intrigue to one of these alpha men meeting their match. Readers might get skeeved out by the goings on in Club Joi, but while some acts are described in passing, there isn’t anything overly gratuitous happening in the sex club Asher is investigating and Sloane is working at. Also, while part of the Takeback series, you don’t need to have read the previous books to enjoy this one. I love the comradely and brotherhood of Asher and his team, while the women in their lives welcome Sloane with open arms. Couldn’t put it down and didn’t want i5 to end…well, their story, not the other illegal, immoral and gross stuff…I was glad to be done with that for sure! Can’t wait for the next book…and to see these characters at least one more time.
Book 4 of the Takeback series. Asher/Adam works for Takeback, a highly specialized group that works bringing an end to human trafficking. He’s currently undercover at a sex club in CA. There he meets a shy but sassy even planner Sloan. Unbeknownst to him she is also “undercover” as she is trying to track down her missing roommate/best friend who vanished after a night at the club. They’re both attracted to each other but considering they’re also both “undercover” neither act on it. They finally succumb to their attraction and Sloan discovers who Adam really is, Asher! Sloan overhears a convo about “taking” a girl and panics. Asher comes to the rescue and takes her back to ID. They fall in love, but Sloan isn’t out of the woods just yet when the man she overhears comes looking for her. While in ID she fits right in and becomes part of the girl group with Brooklyn, Letty and Sadie. The narrators were awesome and I really enjoyed this audiobook. Vanessa Edwin did a fantastic job of both the female and male parts. Her only flaw was that she mispronounced Spokane. Another great story by Riley Edwards!!! While stand alone, it is more enjoyable to have read or listen to the previous 3 Takeback books
Oh Asher, Asher, Asher...how being involved in a club of desire changes the way you think. Asher was not happy about being in a club that hid lies so well, the FBI couldn't crack what was going on. Asher had been undercover for some time trying to crack the question, "What is happening in this club and with the patrons?"
Sloane caught Asher's eye! How many women who want to be in a sex club go but seems ashamed of what is taking place? Asher knew something was but the attraction to her was strong. He knew something was different about her, he knew she was hiding something but what was it?
Sloane was on a mission and she was going to find what she was looking for. She knew Asher was different but couldn't put her finger on it and couldn't keep her mind off of him. Sloane and Asher connected in a way that a lot don't. It wasn't just the chemistry but also the trust that came after some crazy situations. Sloane eventually had to give up on her mission somewhat but knew with Asher by her side, things would work out. Would she find what she needed once their lives were clear of danger?
I enjoyed the narration of this story. I was kept on my toes and thought at times, Sloane will not make it out.
Dangerous Encounter is the most recent in the Takeback series. Takeback is an organization that works to rescue women from human trafficking. Asher has gone undercover to discover exactly what is happening at a sex club in California and possibly break up a human trafficking ring. Sloane is working as the event organizer at this club, trying to find out what happened to her best friend and roommate, who went missing from the club. We get their exciting story as they try to find out what exactly happened and if they can trust each other. Asher is Riley's signature alpha protector and gentleman with a whole lot of spice. Sloane is sassy and brave and can pack a punch that surprised even Asher. We even get to go back to Takeback's HQ in Couer d'Alene, Idaho, and get wonderful cameos from the rest of the Takeback crew. Riley is weaving together another wonderful community of characters we fall for and never want to leave. All whose stories bring us excitement and HEAs we enjoy reveling in. Asher and Sloane's story is excellent, exciting, and spicy. Grab a copy and get to know the men from Takeback!
Dangerous Encounter takes us into the seedy underbelly of human trafficking and that is Takeback's business. Asher Noble is assigned to go undercover in a California private club in search of a young woman that someone reported trying to run away from. He is Adam in his undercover assignment and meets Sloane Ellis who is a coordinator of sorts for the club. Sloane intrigues him because she seems to detest the club so why would she work here? Sloane is also working undercover to find her missing friend who was a member of Club Joi. She cannot stand the members and the owners but she refuses to let her friend's disappearance remain unsolved. Together Asher and Sloane try to solve not only her friend's disappearance but other questionable incidents as well. Dangerous Encounter was a good romantic suspense story with plenty of action and heat. It was told from dual POV and the topic of this story might trigger some but it stands alone in the series and was a great way to spend a few afternoons getting lost in a good action book.
I really enjoyed this 4th book of the Take back series. Asher has been undercover in a sex club based in Los Angeles & had his eye on Sloane, the pretty club event coordinator. She seems like she'd rather be anywhere else.
Sloane's best friend Elise disappeared 6 months ago after going to this club. When police came up with nothing, Sloane decided to see if she could come up with something. Its getting dangerous. She noticed the new guy, Adam, who doesn't seem She noticed the new guy, Adam, who doesn't seem to participate in any of the events, but he does watch. Send my call Sloane and Asher coming together and, however the course of the story begins after they've come to know each other.
Asher and Sloane have a real connection. When her life is threatened his protector instincts kick in, threatening his undercover assignment. This pair have an instant connection that's tender and hot.
This can be read as a standalone but the other Takeback couples are fun, too. I appreciated the relative maturity of 40 yr old Asher and 38 yr old Sloane.
As /Adam Newcomb, Asher Noble was undercover at a sex club that seemed ‘too clean’, though the club itself wasn’t to his taste, event planner Sloane Ellis absolutely was. She didn’t seem to fit. Soane didn’t fit, the club wasn’t to her taste. Her roommate/BFF was missing since a night at the club and the police weren’t helpful. Sloane decided to look around on her own, she hadn’t found anything but maybe new member Adam Newcomb knew more, she’d seduce the information out of him.
Asher had watched Sloane long enough to know the seduction was out of character for her but he had to report this development to the team. They were convinced Sloane was part of whatever was going on at the club and didn’t deserve special treatment. When they met her, they agreed and Sloane they exchanged confidences. Not a moment too soon because Sloan and Asher separately tripped over the exact type of information they were looking for. But the bad guys noticed their attraction and caught them looking. Rating: 4stars
Another awesome book in this most interesting and heart wrenching series. Each of these stories has its own storyline which delves into the darkest of crimes and danger.
This one is no different and brings us the bravest FMC Sloane. The bestest of friends, she has proven without a doubt the lengths she will go to for her friends and I love this about her. I love how brave she was and willing to try so hard to get the answers everyone else had given up on.
I equally adored Asher, especially how disconcerted he was initially about his feelings for Sloane in the face of the evidence of what she was involved in.
Romance and intrigue intertwined masterfully, this book is one you will get lost in enjoying.
Add to this the excellent performances by Vanessa Edwin and John Lane, and you have the ultimate audiobook.
An excellent listen and a wonderful audiobook either medium will provide you with just what you need, want and adore from this author
Book 4 of the Takeback Series by Riley Edwards! You know that one author that you want to read and own everything they write? Well, Riley Edwards is that for me!!! I don’t think she has written or had a book narrated that I did not thoroughly enjoy reading and hearing! This book is no different! The narrators for this book, Venessa Edwin and John Lane, I have never heard before so it is nice to have main characters with new narrators. It helps you use the visual given in the book and place a voice with it and these 2 did an incredible job with Sloane and Asher! Dangerous Encounter is Sloane and Asher’s! Sloane is looking for her best friend and gets a job at the sex club to try and find out where she is and what happened to her, the same sex club Asher works at. Sloane isn’t interested in a relationship especially with someone that works at the club but Asher has other plans. This was a great read and I can’t wait to see what is next!!
Sloane Ellis gave up her jobs to take one at Club Joi for only one reason, to find out what happened to or where her best friend, Elise, is. Elise was a member of Club Joi which was a club for adults who wanted to be watched when having sex, or to watch, or to participate in consensual adult sex in a safe place. However, one morning Sloane found that Elise hadn't returned from a party there. Elise had just disappeared. Sloane did not like working here; but she only acted as a hostess and not a participant. Asher Noble came to Club Joi as Adam Newcomb. He came as an underground worker at the club. In reality, he is trying to find evidence whether Club Joi was being used as part of a sex trafficking ring. He posed as a man who only occasionally watched couples perform; but he never participated. Can they somehow get together and work together to find the sex trafficking ring and break it without getting caught themselves?
When I first started reading, I wasn't that into it. Too much lust and too little love/moments. But then you keep reading and thats where it gets better. And the Riley Edwards writing kicks in. The way she writes words makes you fucking swoon. And thats what happened. It also had me busting out laughing or should I say busting a gut. Lol the nut busting thing was hilarious. I loved seeing all the other characters they made it ten times more funny. The ending was fabulous. Not gonna lie im not as hyped for Coles story as I wish I were. Still tho, I'm loving this series and I cant wait to read more of Rileys books.
I don't know what else to say, except I would totally recommend reading this one. It just gets better and better. And you get the girls from the other books which was the best part. Letty, Brooklyn, Sadie and now Sloane are a group of women id love to be friends with.
4.5 ⭐️ Love this series this found family is everything! I do wish there was a little bit more to this one but loved Sloane. Her loyalty to her best friend/roommate and how far she was willing to go to get answers about her disappearance was amazing. She always knew that there was something she could trust about Asher and rarely questioned that. Asher and his alpha ways (swoon) 😍. The part where I wish there was a little more was on his part. I wish we could have seen a bit more from him about his past about his family. I wanted him to be more confident about what his gut was telling him. He was constantly going back and forth on what he wanted to do. This book still had all the makings of a Riley Edwards book it still had your found family, alpha males, spice and a little mystery to it. She is always an instant buy for me.
I enjoyed watching Asher & Sloane’s relationship grow. They had instant attraction from the beginning but both were lying about who they were. They eventually revealed their reason for being at the sex club in CA. It’s then excitement and slight intense moments where I was worried for their safety at the club. Luckily, this author does a good job of keeping the angst down. I really like it that she doesn’t go into details about the human trafficking ring Asher is trying to investigate. This way, I get to enjoy the plot without feeling depressed about the scariness and devastation of such a horrible thing. The romance between them are sweet. Sloane is strong and when she eventually meets them, she got along great with the heroines in the previous books in this series.
Asher and Sloane might be my new favorite couple in this series! Sloane is on a quest to find her missing friend which includes working in a place she feels completely uncomfortable. Asher meets Sloane while working undercover. Each is drawn to the other in a way neither understands especially since Asher's undercover identity has Sloane putting him on the hard no for dating list. When the truth comes out, neither can deny their feelings for the other but they still have one more obstacle, they live in different states. Asher is determined to bring down the bad guys while finding Sloane's friend Elise and keeping Sloane safe in the process. I love Sloane's personality and the entire story gives you all the feels!
Sloane has taken it upon herself to find information about her missing best friend Elise since the police have delivered no answers. To do this, Sloane has taken a job at Club Joi. Sloane hates the club and is on a mission.
We meet Adam (Asher) at the club. He is undercover and he too is looking for answers. Can they both find what they’re looking for?
I love how Riley Edwards wove their blossoming romance with humour and s3xy times and a little uncertainty of what they may discover thrown in.
Both Vanessa Edwin and John Lane’s performances complimented each other brilliantly. They had me captivated from the very beginning.
Highly recommend Dangerous Encounter written by Riley Edwards.
