In retrospect, Gary realized he should have asked. He traveled to an Earth-like planet where he explored, collected samples, and nearly died. His alien friends told him that everything he did on their ship, in the UFO, and exploring the planet was captured on the visor he wore. The visor would prove everything he said was true! But you don't plug in a Vutwahnian visor into a USB port. He forgot to ask how the visor works and how to access the video. Luckily, he had the UFO. He trained in it, landed it on Saturn, and landed it on another planet before returning and landing on Earth. But he never saw what the crew did to service the UFO between flights. He forgot to ask about the fuel or how to access the engine. Who will believe him when he can't answer the most basic questions?
Advancing Alien Technology is a hard science fiction story that takes place entirely on Earth. Gary Weiss returns to Earth after his adventures as the Species Representative. He must convince politicians that a deep space program to a known target planet is worth the cost, but he is totally out of his element and doesn't know how to begin.
