Thanks to Faith Bloom for allowing me to read and review this new book in her new series
This is an interesting historical western taking place in 1847. It's the first book in the new series. brings strong characters and an action packed storyline. The author moves the story quickly and smoothly with her descriptive scenes and has me looking forward to the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
The Proposal: A Runaway Bride and Her Escape, is Book #1 of an historical western-type novel, written by Faith Isabel Bloom. A copy of this book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.
The year is 1847, and Giselle is a young widow working as a governess for a rich family with two small children. Her employer's younger brother makes a nuisance of himself by trying to have his way with Giselle, refusing to take no for an answer. When she scratches his face, injuring him, he tells his brother that Giselle tried to seduce him. In order to save herself from being arrested for an act that was not her fault, she packs only a few clothes and some money she has saved, and climbs out of the window and runs away. She meets people from a wagon train that are leaving Kansas and who are headed for California. Three months later, Giselle is abducted by a gang of criminals who were hired by the rich family to bring Giselle back to town. However, the man who abducted her, Santiago, is also a wanted man who has bad guys wanting to kill him. Will Giselle and Santiago make it out safely? As mentioned before, this is Book 1 in a continuation series. It is not meant to be read as a stand-alone book. This book kind of reminded me of a Barbara Cartland historical novel, except that the book is about American history, instead of British. I gave this first episode 5 stars. Book 2 is supposed to be released on September 30, 2022.
Great Start to New Series I was caught up in Faith Isabel Bloom’s new western historical series from the first page. Giselle Kennedy is heartbroken after the death of her husband. She can never see herself falling in love again or having another man’s children, so she is working as a governess to survive. She refuses her employer’s brother’s advance time and time again till it comes to violence. She know’s her employer’s will never believe her account of what happened over what his own brother says so she runs. This is a heartwarming story that caught my heart immediately. The first installment of this series is action packed and full of suspense leaving me holding my breath for what will happen next. I received an ARC of this book from the author in return for voluntarily writing an honest review.
Giselle's husband passed away and she got a job as a governess for a wealthy family. It's been three years but she is still in mourning. Her employer's brother is being a problem. He keeps trying to have his way with her. They get into a fight and she slashes his eye. She decides to run away. She meets a family who is on the way to California and she joins the wagon train. This leads to even bigger problems. This is a well-written suspenseful story. It is part of a continuing series. I'm looking forward to the second book.
Giselle works for wealthy family following the death of her husband. She is still mourning her husband's death when the brother of her employer keeps forcing her and trys to take advantage. Giselle slashes his eyes in defence and is accused. She escapes and meets a family who are about to set off on the California trail. But she is captured by a band of outlaws led by Santiago . A exciting read. I leave a honest review and I recommend this book to other readers.
This could have been a good book but first, it asked for a review very near to the beginning, then it ended and you have to download a different book. There is no rhyme or reason to this. It is like installments in a magazine or something. I would have loved to read the whole thing but it isn't worth the aggravation.
William has no idea what boundaries are until he lies to get out of trouble for crossing them. But Giselle is the one to pay the price of his disrespect. I can’t imagine trying to escape an abusive person overnight nowadays, let alone a lone woman on the frontier.
Will live on the run with Santiago be any safer? We’ll just have to read ‘The Escape’ to find out…
The start of this new series is suspenseful and heart pounding. The main character, Giselle is strong and brave in the face of adversity. I am looking forward to more exciting reading in this series. I would highly recommend it. I received an advance copy of this book, and this is my honest review.
