I received a copy of this arc in exchange for my honest review. This sister duo NAILED it AGAIN in their Medici Mafia series. This book is the fourth in the series, can be read as a standalone but best enjoyed if read in order.
Valentina has always had a thing for her brother’s best friend Enzo. He has protected her since as long as he has known her, always protecting and treating her as his little sister.
All of her brothers are very overprotective , as she’s the baby sister of the King mafia boss in Boston. When Val has a weekend away for a friend’s wedding, her brother sends Enzo as her bodyguard. Val has other ideas, she keeps insisting that they pretend to be a couple to make her ex jealous. They begin as faking, but the chemistry between them is way over the top. By the end of the wedding, things have gone up several notches between the two. They leave the weekend sad because they don’t know how they’d ever manage to be together for real. And if and when her brother finds out about the two of them, Enzo may end up at the bottom of the river. The two of them are absolute perfection together. Behind Enzo’s big bad protective persona, he has a heart of gold, and only for Val.
I loved these two. I was at the edge of my seat during the entire wedding weekend they were together. The sneaking around, the “faking”, Enzo an animal in bed, it all kept me burning through my kindle , searching in the dark for my charger while in bed, dying to finish this up!
I love love loved it! I absolutely ADORE this mafia series and the amazing author duo!
I loved Valentina. She runs a company, she’s smart, and she just wants her independence from her brothers constantly hovering and making choices for her. She really finally deserves her own happiness, a man who can love her and protect her the way she should be. I rooted for these two from the beginning. Enzo is a kind soul and deserved to find the love of his life.

Can’t Resist Temptation…
I can not get enough of this series! I loved this one so much! I knew Enzo and Valentina’s was going to be deliciously taboo and it did not disappoint.
Enzo is family, maybe not by blood, but Valentina has grown up with him, he’s her brother Angelo’s best friend and his right hand man. He’s like another brother to her but she doesn’t look at him like he’s her brother anymore.
When Val gets invited to a wedding out of town Angelo demands she take a bodyguard. Angelo doesn’t trust many people and Val is more like his daughter then his little sister.
Enzo has been asked to take her but Val doesn’t want him to appear as her bodyguard but as her boyfriend. She knows her ex has been invited to the wedding and she wants to make him jealous to get back at him for hurting her.
The fireworks between Enzo and Val were explosive, once that fuse was lit between them there was no stopping the explosion. Though they said it could only last the weekend their hearts were already gone for each other.
When a threat comes forward towards Val all bets are off. Enzo isn’t letting her go no matter how big of a betrayal his best friend and brother will feel about him being with Val behind his back.
Twists and turns kept you guessing as to who the threat was coming from. When you think it could go in one direction it does an about face and takes you on a ride of life and death.

Enzo and Valentina’s story was beautiful. I loved watching them both come to accept their feelings for each other- Enzo denied his because she’s his best friends little sister and he’s known her since she was born, and Val always has had crush him. But she thought he never saw her as anything other then her brother’s litter sister. So when Angelo tasks him with accompanying her to a friend’s wedding, it’s the last thing he wants. Then she prepositions him into being her fake boyfriend to make an ex jealous. But what one thing leads to another and they’re both left alone to confront their feelings, all bets are off. He stops looking at her as a little girl and sees her for the beautiful woman she is. But they both know Angelo can’t find out, and whatever they have will end after the weekend. Only someone knows, and is threatening Val. Enzo will do whatever is necessary to protect her.
I loved the chemistry between these two and how fiercely Val fought for what she wanted. Add in a cute little dog and this was a great book!

Enzo and Valentinas story was probably one of the best ones I've read this year. The love that they have is what everyone is looking for.
Valentinas is Enzos best friends little sister. This forbidden love story had me hooked. I couldn't get enough of them. They had to hide their relationship from everyone because they didn't know how to tell her brother, and there was also a threat against her so there was a lot of stuff going on. Even with everything that was happening they didn't let that stop them from falling in love. They knew that what they had was the real thing and weren't gonna let anyone stand in their way.
Valentina is a strong hard working woman that knows exactly what she wants and goes for it. I admire her a lot. Enzo is an overprotective alpha man but is also very sweet and caring.

As always this world is a crazy world wind! Enzo and valentina's story is one of the best! Valentina is such a great character I absolutely love her! And who wouldn't love Enzo he's is loyal and caring. They make the perfect couple 5 stars easy! The sisters have done it again with creating a story you get sucked into!!!

The Fox sisters have done it again! Fortress of The Soul was on my wish list since I have first read the hints about Enzo and Val’s forbidden affair in previous books in the Medici Mafia series. Though it is a standalone, if you are into dominant alpha-holes, you should definitely take the time to read every single book in the series since they are all so SINFUL and SENSUAL🔥🔥🔥. Enzo has been on my radar from the begging and he did NOT disappoint! Add in the forbidden aspect of being Val’s brother’s best friend, you get the dreamiest taboo romance with probably the most endearing (at least to me since I feel like I know the whole fam!) hero and heroine❤️. Definitely a must-read!

Nothing comes easy with the Medici family and with the best friend's sister trope is always going to be a hard love. The story is exciting and intense, the chemistry between Enzo and Valentina is pure fire and keeps on increasing the temperature throughout. Val is an interesting character, I didn’t think that she’ll be so calm and positive-hearted and not some spoilt child. She’s sweet, kind, and beautiful, and is fighting the inner demons that come with the family entitles. Enzo is wow and incredible.
I loved the spiced-up story with twists and suspense that I didn’t see coming. Few things were predictable but that prediction itself was a surprise in the end. A well-written story makes my day when I get a good epilogue and this one had that. It’s a captivating story written beautifully. You will get to see other characters too from the other books and will enjoy their contribution here. The easy banter and teasing will make you laugh out loud. Romance brewing kept me hooked and I’m all for possessiveness.

Enzo & Valentina's story is definitely one of my favorite mafia romances I've read this year!! When Enzo is called to accompany Val to an out-of-town wedding, you already know right off the bat that the tension is going to be thick! Val is no longer the little girl that Enzo has always known. She has grown into this beautiful, independent, boss ass woman who knows what she wants and goes for it with everything she has. During their long weekend away, she has her eyes set on one thing: Enzo. No matter how hard Enzo tries to fight it, he can't deny his attraction and pull towards Val any longer, and thus begins their whirlwind affair and their fight for their HEA.
This book has allll the tropes- brother's best friend, forbidden romance, a little fake dating, forced proximity, age gap, sizzling sexual tension, explosive steamy scenes & more!! Fortress of the Soul is part of an interconnected series but can also be read as a standalone. I can't wait to read more from this author!!

This is the book I’ve been waiting for since I started reading this series! I have loved Enzo since we met him in book one and I couldn’t wait for him to get his own book.
Valentina is the baby of the family so she has been overprotected her entire life. She just wants some freedom and to be able to be with the person she’s had a crush on for years. Enzo is older and Valentina’s brother’s best friend. He tries to push his feelings and attraction to the side but their chemistry is just too much to hide.
I loved Valentina and Enzo’s story! There’s definitely action, steamy scenes, and a twist I didn’t see coming but their love story is perfectly imperfect. I couldn’t get enough of them and I really want more of them!!! I am excited that there are more books in this world planned because there are so many great characters, although I doubt anyone can top Enzo for me.

Another strong book in this series. This book focuses on Enzo (best friend of Angelo) and Valentina (the younger sister of all the Medici brothers). This is the usual best friend of the older brother wants/falls in love with the younger sister taboo relationship with the added angst and drama of the mafia thrown in. I liked this book a lot. The steam and heat factor was definitely increased and was awesome. I especially liked seeing more of Rocco and Sloane (squeal!!). I felt like a lot of the angst happened off scene or I just didn’t get the full build up to them falling in love. I also can’t stand when poor decisions and communication create unnecessary angst. I needed more sneaking around and moments where they almost get caught, plus more of them together to actually fall in love vs. just into bed. It’s a nice fast paced mafia read. I’ve already preordered the next book.

Dakota and Mackenzy did it again adding other books to the Medici family. Can I just say I love this family? The book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the ones before this. This book has the perfect mix of angst, drama, and romance. I have admired Valentina since reading her brother's books. Valentina is strong, independent, and has a backbone all of the characteristics of a great female heroine. Enzo is ruthless, kind, and has one hell of a dirty mouth. These two were explosive together inside and outside of the bedroom. What I loved most about this book was the build-up and the chemistry. I mean truly this couple was wonderful. The best part is the trope is brother's best friend those are my weakness. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

I have been waiting for Enzo and Valentina's story from the sneak peaks we saw of them in the other books. I was not disappointed. Their chemistry was electric and caught the pages on fire. We see each of them struggling with not being together and then when they try and make it work hiding it from those that are important to them. I have absolutely loved this whole series but this one melted my heart. For being a strong alpha mafia male Enzo was sweet and loving with Valentina but in the bedroom, he was dominant, and she loved it. Valentina was a little bit of a Brat to him at times and liked to push his buttons any chance she got it was fun to watch him come undone by her. These two are made for each other and this read was fantastic. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review.

I loved this story!! You could feel the forbidden aspect. They had to hide their relationship. It’s no surprise that Val is tough and goes for what she wants. She is a mafia princess. And Enzo is so protective and loyal. I just loved this couple!!

I think this is my first book I have read from this duo and it wont be my last. I was captured by the characters of Enzo and Valentina Medici. Enzo is the best friend of her brother Angelo. Enzo has known of Valentina since she was a child. When she needed him to be a fake boyfriend at a friend's wedding to throw off her ex. He was hesistant at first but did it to help her out. Their fake relationship didn't turn so fake after a while. Also, after the wedding their decided to try their relationship as real but needed to tell her brother before he finds out somewhere else. Yet there is someone threatening Valentina's life and Enzo is on top of it. But he must tell her brother what is happening. He tells certain information. but secrets can never be hidden. Side note I love the banter between all the characters. Sloane and Rocco and Bridget Valentina's best friend. That girl is wicked hilarious without an filters. I can't wait to read about the next couple Rocco and Sloane

Valentina is the baby sister of this mafia but she is also one of the strongest woman in their world. When she wants to go to friend wedding for the weekend. Her brother sends Enzo with her. She had a crush on him for ages and he has feelings for her but won’t act on them because of her family. But all of that changes after their weekend away but they will keep it a secret for fear of Enzo life but nothing will keep them apart. To watch them falling in love and protect each other is incredible. Plus their ending is perfect for them.

With circumstances they both find it difficult to not act on it. I loved this story and how they act towards each other. It is so obvious he will do anything to protect her. The worry Enzo has on betraying his friends trust deeply affects him.
This is a fun and exciting read and I love how this story develops.

So far the best in this series!
I don’t know if it’s the forbidden aspect or these two characters but my God I absolutely loved this book as well as these two. The hidden aspect, the no we can’t but it feels so good/right. And the storyline was honestly so much more tamed and unexpected that it lead to a deeper connection that their relationship felt more beautiful. I loved everything about this book and don’t get me started on the smut it was just that much hotter with the added forbidden if it all just made it much hotter!

Enzo is charged by Angelo to watch over Valentina when she goes to a wedding over the weekend. This book is a standalone in the Medici Mafia series but to get the full enjoyment its best to read in order. This weekend away brings these two closer then ever! This book was amazing and had me on the edge of my seat. I don't want this world to end. Every family member story just makes me fall more in love with this group.

4.5⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book is more in depth with Enzo and Val. They continue to fall deeper in their feelings for each other. All the while keeping their relationship a secret, guilt fills them both for not telling Angelo. There is a threat that causes them in close proximity not that they mind. There is action, spice, feelings of betrayal and admissions.

Enzo and Valentina’s book has that forbidden vibe since he works for her brother and has known her since she was a baby. But that’s what makes it so good. These two just set the pages on fire with their chemistry and steamy scenes. I could not get enough.
As expected, there is that suspense and the little twist to make this all the more enjoyable.

This series just keeps getting better and better. Enzo Russo is absolutely perfect. This storylines was one of my favorites the dueling fire between Enzo and valentina was incredible. I love these two authors I keep devouring their books as soon as they dropped and already preordered the next one. Well written perfect mafia balance . Cannot get enough. Crushed this book in 24 hours. Keep at it ladies !! We need more 👏🏼

Enzo is asked to go with Valentina to her friends wedding as a bodyguard by her brother. When they are away things start to heat up between then.
I cannot let Valentina leave with another man, I won’t. And she’d probably just tease and flirt with some poor schmuck just to get even with me. I know she’s pissed.
Valentina has had a crush on her brothers best friends since she was a teen. Well she has his attention now.
“It’s a little too late for that, don’t you think? You’re mine now, belladonna. We passed complicated a while back.”
Such a wonderful love story with some crazy suspenseful moments. This series is so good and I can’t wait to see what these sisters come up with next.

This book blew me away. It is an amazing read that has to be read and you will discover that once you start it, you cannot put it down. It moves along at a pace that makes for an enjoyable read and is perfect for the flow of the story. You will love these characters and no matter what happens you want to be there for them. This book needs to be read, there is no doubt about it.
