The Zarbo brothers are seasoned outlaws with a reputation for killing. Already wanted in two states, they set their sights on Colorado and a string of bank robberies. They don’t count on running into Chief U.S. Marshal John Brockman.
John arrests Lee Zarbo, but his brothers remain in hiding. Lee’s sentence to death by hanging incites them to desperate measures. They’ll do anything to get him out alive. Even kidnap the Chief U.S. Marshal’s daughter.
When John learns of his young daughter’s captivity and the conditions for her release, he must turn to the Lord for direction. It takes all the faith he can muster to wait for the answer. Without freeing a dangerous criminal, can John find Ginny before they kill her?
Al Lacy has written more than ninety novels, including the Angel of Mercy, Battles of Destiny, and Journeys of the Stranger series. He and his wife, JoAnna Lacy, are coauthors of the Mail Order Bride, Hannah of Fort Bridger, and Shadow of Liberty series. The Lacys make their home in the Colorado Rockies.
Al and Joanna Lacy in their new book, "Deadlock" Book Two in the Return Of The Stranger series published by Multnomah returns us to the life of Chief U.S. Marshal John Stranger and His wife, Breanna.
There are three Zarbo brothers and they are working their way to Colorado where they feel it is safe to continue their bank robberies and killings. They made a mistake not knowing about the Marshal and they pay for it when John arrests one of them. In an effort to prevent their brother from hanging the two remaining brothers kidnap Ginny and hold her hostage until John releases their brother. There is also an event that happens to Breanna as well as other sub-plots that cause the reader to turn the pages as fast as possible.
This is the third series with John and Breanna; the first, "The Journeys Of The Stranger", the second, "The Angel of Mercy" and now "The Return of The Stranger". Any book written by the Lacys is sure to be a winner but once you add in John and Breanna you have one of the best romances and explosive Western action. One thing I have learned from reading this series is never touch John's family-it gets him really angry. As John prays and leans heavily on God for how to rescue his daughter he mounts a search and rescue mission that draws ever closer to a life and death decision.
This is a very exciting book and a wonderful addition to the series. I recommend this book highly and am highly looking forward to the next book in the series.

About a bad gang of outlaw brothers who's younger brother, Lee, gets captured and sentenced to hang. The others kidnap John & Breanna's daughter, Ginny, with notice that if they do not release Lee, they will kill Ginny.
Breanna also ends up in the hospital in serious condition after a patient who is out of his mind with pain knocks her down a flight of stairs. She cannot walk because of the bruising and swelling to her spine........
This is a disappointing series - more dialogue than action... even the main plot of the story was a let down... I was expecting great things with this series, but it is not to be...
