What readers think about this book...
“Fantastic.”
"Perfect for beginners to advanced. He is real, writes [and] talks like a real person."
“This book is concise and hits the core areas for becoming prepared.”
"Well written, practical, reasonable."
"It’s definitely an eye opener in more ways than one, it has wisdom along with practical knowledge that will enhance your survival."
Okay, I'll admit, I "lean" prepper. Not that I think total collapse is imminent, and that I've built a hidden bunker stockpiled with food, but I don't have total faith in the people of our planet. History shows how often entire cultures can implode upon themselves, and certainly recent politics haven't made me more optimistic.
ANYWAY, this book is one of those that seemed to pop up a few times as recommended in the Doomer/Prepper blogs I read. It's basically just got lots of handy suggestions for what might REALLY be useful when hard times hit. I say that "really" because it turns out, if you look at the Doomer/Prepper community with an objective eye, a lot of Preppers have totally unrealistic fantasies about what great Survivalists they'll be. This book, by contrast, offers some practical guidelines and advice (how, no, it's not easy to "go off the grid" or have sustainable food and water sources...). So, I picked it up, and it gave me some good ideas for how not to die immediately when the world economy collapses. Instead, I'll die slowly and painfully over the next 3-6 months after being able to limp along for awhile thanks to this book .
Damian addresses common sense needs and avoids the 'prepper porn' of guns guns and bullets. You can't eat them and can't bandage a wound with them. And for the types who believe their guns will let them take those items from others, there are ALWAYS people with more guns or better shots who will discourage you. Plan based on your family/needs, don't get carried away but start now because you don't want to be the person looking at empty shelves, long gas lines and a needy family.
Its definitely an eye opener in more ways than one, it has wisdom along with practical knowledge that will enhance your survival, even if its only food for thought.
There are a lot more things than just food to consider if you plan to survive in an emergency situation. This book does a pretty good job of getting you started with prepping.
This book was as informative as it could be given the author's personal experience, I do intend to reference this book when searching for other sites, books and resources to add to my knickers of preparedness.
Some good basic information and things to think about prior to starting your purchases. There are some good reference materials listed and some useful checklists.
Given the political environment and financial crisis our country is facing, it made sense to me to read a few books that might help me feel prepared for what lies ahead. Most of what was listed is very practical and fell in line with my own thoughts.
