Why is this book so highly rated? I'm questioning why I even finished it. The protagonist was boring, and everyone was so judgmental of the drug dealers, just because they helped people have fun and occasionally murdered someone. Seriously, though, let people unwind how they choose unless they're hurting others, and be more interesting than "I see dead people." Like, Haley Joel Osment killed that role. It doesn't need a revival.
Rating 3.5 ⭐️ this was a perfect cosy mystery with a paranormal twist. The 1st in a series of books following Valeria who is a medium and can see ghosts as she uses this skill to solve crimes. Not a very long book it is perfect for an in between palette cleanse read. The characters were so good and the storyline kept me guessing. I will be looking out for book 2
As the town's "witch", Valeria's life mainly revolves around her shop, where she practices her abilities as a medium. When a person donates the ashes of a dead person to the store, her ghost insists that Val solve the murder.
I enjoyed everything about this story. The main character was easy to bond with - she took on a gruelling task without complaint, even though the ghost had plenty of whines of her own. She also proved to be a good friend to the main sidekick and watched her bestie's back. The mystery was difficult to untangle and provided a lot of twisting before it was straightened out.
The backstory, dangled tantalizingly in front of the reader, will be fun to uncover in future volumes. I'm looking forward to it!
This book revolves around a medium who helps solve the murders of ghosts who cannot move on. The plot itself is very convoluted but I really did not like the ghosts. They were rude, self centered, demanding and just plain obnoxious. The main character was too weak to handle them . I felt like there was a lot going on in the author's head but it was not making it to the page clearly. A good editor would be very valuable here.
A clever murder mystery that brings a whiny ghost who tells Valeria she wants help solving her murder but she isn't willing to give any useful information that has Valeria having to work twice as hard to try to solve the mystery before the police can. The more we learn, the harder it becomes, it seems. A very good read.
It wasn't bad and it wasn't the most amazing thing I've read, it was enjoyable. I couldn't stop smiling for the last half of the last chapter. I would have liked more about Mister Mo. He wasn't even mentioned in the hospital chapter... Who was taking care of him while Valeria couldn't.
Laugh along with Val, May and Yasmin as they follow the clues and find more trouble than they bargained for. Val’s Uncle and Aunt are two of the funniest ghosts around. If you enjoy a good mystery with great characters, this is the book for you. Highly recommended.
This novel was quite speculator in its cast of humans and ghosts side by side, even the protagonist and her allies and their companions! Yet their dramas held me in thrall through every chapter to the epilogue!! I am looking forward to the next book in this series when it springs up in either the Kindle or regular markets! Wowee!!
