Moore Sisters #1

The Publicity Stunt

Rate this book
Eight years. Two best friends. One last chance to fix what they broke.

April Moore isn’t a hopeless romantic. She’s a hopeful romantic.

Although given the current circumstances of her job, her optimistic side is starting to lean toward glass half empty.

Working as a celebrity publicist in glitzy Manhattan, April hasn’t been able to land a new client in the past six months and is on the verge of getting fired. So when an opportunity presents itself, she has no choice but to smile and take it up. Even if it means being a publicist for an actor who’s a PR nightmare. But his Page Six scandals start looking less and less problematic, when she runs into his stunt double and her high school best friend — Hayden Parker.

Back then Hayden and April were just two love-struck teenagers obsessed with comic books and each other.
Until one fateful night when their lives fell apart.

Reunited almost a decade later, their relationship is tarnished by the heartache of what went down, but the love is still very much there.

The question is...will it be enough to not let their past ruin their present?

the first 50% - 5 FUCKING STARS HAYDEN PARKER CANNOT BE SWEETER ILHSM 🥰 too cute for words
51%-75% - meh, a lil down, but i'm fine - probably 4 stars? hayden is becoming a lil boring i'm telling you
76%-98% - the era of the ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS TWIST. why. 1 star. i wouldn't have rated it so low otherwise, but goddamn it, i expected more from you, hayden parker 😭
98%-100% - 2 stars (only for my hopes for hollytheo - their chemistry is fucking BURSTING 🥺)

NO PLEASE 😭 the plot twist in the end killed it, i was in shock lmao. like?? WHY DID THAT HAVE TO HAPPEN idc it just killed the vibes for me otherwise this would might have been a five star read. i'm heartbroken. aprilhayden were supposed to be the best couple ever, i had such high hopes for them 😩.

10 things i love about Hayden Parker
✦ the way all april has to do is bat her eyelashes and he'd do anything for her jsdjjajdn love it 🥰
✦ the way he wants to make her laugh and smile forever and that brought him to his knees <3
✦ the way he did practice kissing with her to "help" her out 🥺💕
✦ the way he helped her when she got stood up and cheered her up gahh 🥰
✦ the way he fought for her for a second chance 💞
✦ the way he listens to everything april says and can't help but follow through with 👉👈
✦ the way she was his first kiss ❤️
✦ the way he punched tyler in the face and broke his phone - it was ✨i c o n i c✨
✦ the way he proposed to her so easily like he knew they were meant to be 🥺
✦ the way he did a whole-ass speech for her even tho HE HATES SPEECHES - now that is love
🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️

that being said, they were cute but maybe, just MAYBE, tanushka, pls don't spoil hollytheo with an ending like that 🥺👉👈. (i'm definitely gonna check out the next book, dw <3)

April shakes her head, trying not to smile. ❝You're an idiot, Hayden Parker.❞
❝Maybe.❞ I take her face between my hands and start kissing the life out of her. April laughs into my mouth and my pulse soars. ❝But I'm your idiot, April Moore.❞

ahh like i said - too adorable for words. every single thing Hayden Parker said - cue me 🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️.

i still enjoyed reading it 🥰😭 it's just that I HATED THE FUCKING PLOT TWIST I WASN'T EXPECTING like?? it was so random and out of the blue like she just saw it suddenly 😭😭

i mean the first half was literally perfect fr and then all that drama came in from nowhere and everything went to shit lol. (to clarify, the problem wasn't the drama, it was that i didn't expect it or see it coming.)

❝Theo?❞
All three of us turn to the far end of the corridor and the source of that voice.
Holly Moore. Wearing her baby-blue satin maid-of-honor dress.
I look at Theo and he hasn't moved an inch, almost as if Holly's presence has set him to stone somehow. His stare is so intense, so fierce, that I'm almost convinced if a meteor hits this very corridor right now, he still wouldn't budge.
Holly walks towards us, her frown deepening with each step, and Theo goes on looking at her like she's the best sight in the world.
❝Looking like an actual human being for once,❞ Theo drawls, looking her up and down. His tone is soft and crisp. ❝You clean up nice, Hollister.❞

YOU. CLEAN. UP. NICE. 🤭 i need theo carter rn.

basically i enjoyed this book but i didn't appreciate the heart-attack that twist gave me. that being said, HAYDEN PARKER 🥺👉👈. i'll leave you with another quote to appreciate his excellency. the man was obsessed, i tell you.

❝April?❞
❝Yeah?❞
❝You're the prettiest girl I know.❞
My lips resolve in a soft line and I smile. ❝Yeah?❞
He slides his hand down and wraps his fingers around mine. My smile creeps out, full power, and he kisses the corner of my mouth. ❝By a long shot. Wherever that smile goes, I follow.❞

”The second you start falling back in love with me, you have to let me know.”

get somebody who loves you like Hayden Parker loves April Moore.

oh be still my frantically beating heart and the tears that i am drowning in. i truly don’t think ive felt this happily giddy about a book in such a long time? i thought i had lost that feeling with being so busy and what not... but it’s nice to know i just needed to find THE book :)

and The Publicly Stunt was my match made in heaven.

this is a second chance, best friends to lovers romance centring on April Moore and Hayden Parker. two nerdy, comic-book loving soulmates who have been given a second chance to mend what was broken between them eight years ago.

this was my first book by this author so i wasn’t sure what to expect when i started this. i saw a reel of this book on Instagram a while ago and was immediately intrigued by the aesthetic and the quotes she had posted, so i decided to sign up for a copy of the ARC when i realised it wasn’t out yet. and i have never been happier for being curiously impulsive :)

the timeline shifts back and forth between past and present— of April and Parker as teens when they first meet and become best friends and gradually fall in love, to adult April and Parker reunited after their jobs inadvertently throw the pair back together again. and Hayden Parker isn’t gonna let the love of his life walk away a second time.

the dual timelines were executed effortlessly for me. i think it’s incredibly difficult to get the shift right without feeling too jarring and unnecessary. when it’s not done right, it feels like filler content honestly. but here? every detail was delicately interwoven to paint the picture of April and Parker’s epic love story. it was truly just

description

She laughs into her coffee. It’s a nice sound.
Sweet and light.
I did that.
I want to do it again.

calling all Gillow shippers!!! if you love them, this book has a similar dynamic in terms of the romantic relationship having a solid, fleshed out friendship which gradually blossoms into an all-consuming type of love eurghhhhh. both couples just feel so authentic with a soft and tender love that’s incredibly intense but in a really quiet and subdued way, if that makes sense? it’s not loud and brash, it’s just two people who are the centre of each other’s worlds and are kinda oblivious to the rest of the world around them.

it’s only them. no one else.

”I know the world gets too much at times.” I brush a few strands of her hair away. “But in here”—I point a single finger to the side of my head—“in here, it’s just us. You and me. Forever.”

now my first thought, immediately, when i began the book was the effortless connection between April and Parker. it wasn’t strained or forced, the banter was so authentic with their easy back and forth. i found myself smiling so early on just from the way they interacted with one another. their teenage friendship felt so real to me— their banter, their playfulness, their awkwardness, their vulnerability and softness. all of it was just so heartwarming to watch my heart was all warm and squishy reading it.

description

they just had such beautiful, sweet memories that built up their relationship so that i never questioned their love for each other. no one else existed to them but each other.

”Guess you don’t know me that well,” I reply with a shrug, and start walking toward the door.
He calls my name.
I turn around.
Slowly, he sits up and leans his head against the wall, smiling so hard that I’m pretty sure his cheeks hurt.
“What is it?” I ask, confused.
“I do know you, April Moore,” he says. “I know you by heart.”

men written by women? 🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️

Hayden Parker written by Tanushka Bhatnagar?????? >>>>>>>>

description

i truly cannot articulate how much of a chokehold this man has me in. April’s no. 1 fan fr. the biggest simp. the baddest bitch in town. god amongst men. the one and only Hayden Parker. the way this man would do anything for her. he worships the ground she walks one i– OBSESSED THIS MAN IS MINE IM GATEKEEPING HIM!! stay away🤺🤺

no one simps like Hayden Parker does.

description

”Let me look at you for a second, yeah?” His eyes travel down my teal pantsuit, then back to my face.
“I can’t do this right now,” I whisper.
“I thought I’d never see you again. I’m just trying to take it all in.”

the way Parker admired and loved April was just so gut-wrenching and beautiful. he saw the rough, fucked up edges of her alongside the raw vulnerability and softness.

like this man loooooves her. my god. you know when you read a book and you can just FEEL how much the characters love each other? like it’s this visceral, living thing that pulses throughout the book almost like a characters within itself because it is so raw and real and fleshed out? that’s what Parker and April’s love felt like to me.

they just had this pure, selfless love for each other. my god i wish i could articulate just how beautifully it was written. Tanushka Bhatnagar has a talent that’s for sure. i can’t wait for the next book and im gonna read her other book soon because i need more of this beautiful storytelling ASAP 🤲🏻

i also loved watching him grow from this flustered, adorable teenager into a sexy, assertive man, still with a heart of gold and a soft spot for the love of his life. while watching April become more vulnerable and really bare her soul to us... i was crying so damn hard by the end i loved her so much. her pain was my pain. i just wanted to read through the pages and cuddle her 🥺 ily April Moore you bug Comic-Con ABBA-loving nerd<3

Every time we look at each other, the string connecting us grows stronger. A conversation takes place. Hundreds and hundreds of them. No one else can hear them, but I like it that way. When we look at each other, we form a secret place—a safe haven to go to.

now... i should have hated that plot twist towards the end of the book. and i guess in a way i kinda did? lemme tell you my heart dropped, i had the biggest lump in my throat and felt like id been dragged through a hedge by my scalp. it HURT.

description

but the way it ripped my heart out was so good im sorry lmao. like the gut-wrenching pain i was in was awful but i kinda loved it🧍and after the anger that originally hit me square in the face, the way everything was explored and explained really made sense to me— both characters survived what they went through in the only ways they knew how. they both fucked up. they both hurt themselves and each other. but i never, not for a single second, doubted their love for each other.

so i think that’s why it worked for me. with intense plot twists like that i tend to me left really questioning the characters, their motives and their feelings. but here their intense love just heightened the pain for me. they’d both been through so much, together and individually, and all i wanted was for them to finally BE together because i truly believed they were destined for each. no one else compared. no one.

”And I think it’s because I was in love with you even before I knew you. Meeting you was just putting a face to the feeling I’d been harboring for you. You’re my person, April Moore. My entire soul.”

also honorary mention to the Moore sisters pls🥺🥺 their bond was just so beautiful and a pleasure to read. ive always wanted a sister (but instead was cursed being the only girl of four) and this just made me yearn for that type of companionship even more. Holly and April just made me smile so much, i truly adored their relationship.

and now for the grand finale...

THEO CARTER???!!!! SIR ???!!!!!???? i– i am speechless. he owned the page the moment he arrived and i wanted him to stay forever 🤲🏻 Theo and Holly are gonna serve i can’t wait. the wit. the charm. the banter. the grin. the chin dimple. if Holly doesn’t want him i will gladly take him.

”One of these days, love”—with his eyes locked on hers, Theo lifts the glass to his mouth and downs every last drop—“someone’s really gonna put you in your place.” Holly scoffs and Theo slams the empty glass on the countertop. “Keep up that attitude and it might just be me.”

im also gatekeeping this man. really just any man written by Tanushka Bhatnagar is MINE, back off🔪

not that im impatient or anything but send me the copy of The Night Shift rn and no one has to get hurt🔫 i need Theo and Holly so bad im tearing my hair out as we speak.

thank you to Tanushka Bhatnagar for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

okay! this was one of my all nighter books because simply i was having time of my life reading this. firstly i’ll just say that the second chance romance with dual timelines is my favorite format to a romance story. there’s just something about discovering what happened and how it led them apart that gets the masochist in me every time.

april and parker are two wonderful characters that i really enjoyed reading. you know that feeling when you read a stand-alone and you wonder how long it’s going to take for you get comfortable with the cast of characters? i felt quite the opposite with this book, we were thrown into an interesting storyline and the pacing of their relationship worked really well!

i think this book is going to be great for fans of the addicted series, april and parker are the alternate universe lily and lo they always say are out there 🫶🏻

i personally cannot wait until holly’s story releases in 2023. her and theo made me laugh and i have a feeling their book is going to be less romcom and more dark (we love).

also, i feel like for a second chance romance, this book did a great job at making me not(?) frustrated with the characters. this is such a weird thing to note but it’s true!!!! there’s always miscommunication that really makes the worst of people. and while neither character is perfect i think everything was within character. maybe that’s why it worked for me! i don’t feel like i have to disown a character because of a decision they made lol

thank you to the author for an arc in exchange for an honest review! i need a physical copy of this book asap

tldr: the romance was infallible, the humour was amazing and both MCs had me swooning.

My birthday is 3 days before the release date of this book and being able to read the ARC genuinely feels like an early birthday present.

I struggle to think of any debut novels that are more well-written and plotted out than the Publicity Stunt. Making its way up the list of my top 10 NA Romances as I read on, April Moore and Hayden Parker have become two of my favourite characters. This book is an absolute hidden gem.

April’s job as a celebrity publicist in the glamourous city of Manhattan is thrown into jeopardy when she gets one last chance at making it in the form of a crazy actor client. Taking on a job that ends up testing her every last nerve, her client doesn’t drive her nearly as loco as the return of her high school best friend (and ex-boyfriend!) Hayden Parker, does. Having moved to her city to take on the role of a stunt double, they meet after being separated for over 8 years. But will a romance be rekindled or will their relationship be doomed, plagued by a turbulent past and disturbing memories?

cw: death; suicide and self-harm references; sexual harassment; sexual content.

Now, I am not a fan of the second chance trope and never in my life did I think I’d be converted to it, but Miss Tanushka seems to have managed it. From best friends-to-lovers, this book takes you through the highs and lows of the characters’ lives. Following them from teen years into adulthood, I absolutely adored reading both POVs in the dual timeline structure. The parallel storytelling was perfectly executed and a painted a picture that made April and Parker’s love feel like an epic. The well-placed flashbacks intertwined with present day was reminiscent of another friends-to-lovers favourite by Emily Henry: People We Meet on Vacation. The characters had really good chemistry and the conversations were heart-warming as well as (surprisingly) deeply profound at points. Overall, this book felt like an all-immersive experience and I had an absolute hoot reading it.

“It was not magical. It definitely was not perfect. I didn’t fall in love with him because of the butterflies; I fell in love with him because he made it feel easy. He made me feel like I was home. He gave me a low, pulsating, constant sense of happiness. He was my hopeful love. He made me feel okay about believing in magic. He made me feel okay about believing in myself. Like even if I didn't find my happy ending, even if I didn't find my perfect love, I'd be fine.”

I love how much Parker is a massive simp for his girl and not afraid to show it.

“You stole my first kiss, April Moore. That gives me movie-picking rights for life.”

Reading this book was like therapy. The MCs had to battle DEMONS in this. Like, goddamn did Tanushka make us work for that HEA. But it was so rewarding to see April and Parker heal, individually and together, over the course of the book. Difficult topics were handled so well I was nearly brought to tears myself when Parker cried (we love a man who is not afraid to show his emotions). The characters felt real and raw and they were built up well over the course of the book. There was serious wisdom imparted in these chapters and I feel like I’ve truly gained a new perspective on life reading this novel. While it is unmistakably a romance, I love that the plot itself and the unravelling of memories reads almost like a mystery and keeps you hooked until the very end.

“I think we're all a little broken. We all have these tiny cracks inside our hearts that none of us really knows how to fix. When I'm with you, you fill those cracks without making me forget they exist. You fill them up with happiness, with laughter and memories, and, a lot of the time just straight up irritation.”

THE DIALOGUE? Unbelievably swoon-worthy. Am deeply ashamed to say I had to power off my kindle at certain points just to take some deep breaths. At one point, I literally highlighted the entire page. It was also very wholesome and a dream for my nerd-self: from the MCs being majorly into the Marvel comic book series to being massive ABBA fans. The Rogue and Gambit comparisons got me in my feels.

April places her hand over mine, threading our fingers together. “I can’t believe you punched him.” Flipping my hand over, I lace our fingers tightly. “If it makes you feel any better, my hand hurts like shit.” She laughs, weak and small. “You’re a true superhero, Hayden Parker.” I smile and rest my head against her shoulder. “Nah, I’m just your sidekick, April Moore.”

The characters were well-rounded and likeable, overcoming traumatic past events to become better humans. I also loved the side characters, Holly and Theo. One no-BS heroine alongside her least favourite (or so no one believes) British nurse. Each character had such unique relationships with the others, it made them all the more dynamic and interesting to read. We’ll see more of them in the next installment of this series - The Night Shift! More importantly, I also can’t wait to see the hilarious bromance that blossoms between Theo and Parker.

honourable mentions: one bed trope, MC caring for other MC when they get injured, sunshine x sunshine, absolute soulmate shit.

Overall, if your love language is well-written romance then pick up this book right now!!

The love was pure and the spice was hot. A wholesome start to the new year by Miss Bhatnagar. Also we love to see fellow brown women thriving and succeeding. This book has my whole heart. Releasing 25 Jan.

This was such a cute & fun little read i’m honestly obsessed with these characters!

The story follows April & her high school best friend, Parker through present day & back to their high school days. April & Parker has been inseparable since the day they laid eyes on each other but something tragic happens eight years ago that kept them apart.
In present day, they’re finally reunited due to working together & try to fix what was broken all those years ago.

I laughed, i cried, i had a blast reading this book it was just too precious & the spice took me by surprised. I did not expect this book to be so steamy holy wow.
I’m extremely excited to read the next book because Theo Carter can get it any day. He had me the minute words left his snarky mouth. I can not wait to read about him!!!!

The publicity stunt is one of the books I was obsessed with and when I was chosen for an advanced copy, I was super happy and I breezed through the story in two days. It was super fast, fun and amazingggg!!!

Why you should pick #thepublicitystunt ?

1. 'The' Hayden Parker (add all the heart eyes)
2. Both MCs are obsessed with Marvel, especially X-Men and the heroine would be throwing Marvel spoilers if anyone pisses her off!
3. Friends to lovers - first love - second chance tropes
4. Amazing sibling relationship ( I can't wait to read about Holly and Theo's love story. Note: Theo looks like Henry and Tom Hiddleston's baby 💥)
5. Super cute and hot romance we all wish for!! All the steam!!!
6. Both PoV - Dual timeline
7. April is a PR and Parker is a stunt double. And their cute dates were 🥳🥳
8. Bcoz I say so!! Trust me, you all need this romance book in your life.

One thing that grabbed my attention since the beginning was that the author mentioned April as a hopeful romantic and I'm so happy she got her love back! ❤️We all deserve someone like Hayden who will be with us always! Hayden has my heart❤️❤️

Thank you so much to the author for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. I was lucky enough to both be a beta and ARC reader and I will forever be grateful to be a part of this book from almost start to finish.

TPS doesn't come out until January of 2023 but it is already my top book of 2023...and 2022. It's that good. Between the plot, the characters, the writing, and (let's be honest here) the spicy scenes, this is *the* book. Tropes include: Second chance romance, friends to lovers to strangers to lovers, hurt/comfort, soulmates, one bed.

Hayden Parker is *the* book boyfriend. I've been joking with the author about how I can't decide between Parker and Theo (the love interest in book 2), but I can confidently say Parker is my #1 boyfriend...at least until the Night Shift releases. This man really saw his ex-girlfriend after nearly a decade and decided he was not wasting his second chance. He put every male lead in every rom-com to shame with both his words and his actions.

April Moore is officially my favorite main character ever. She was vulnerable and strong, she worked hard. she was a hopeful romantic, a Marvel fanatic, a Swiftie, a Mirrorball girlie. I related to her a little too much at times but that just made her ending all the sweeter. Her growth from the beginning of the story to the end was just perfect, in terms of both the arc itself and the pacing. I love her with all my heart and I just want to make sure she's happy.

Side characters. I cannot wait for the second book. Holly Moore is amazing and I want her to be my sister. She's such a badass and I know I'm going to get emotional reading her book. She was also so freaking funny; I kept laughing during her scenes. My favorite part is how protective she is of her sister. I know she's not Parker's biggest fan but she wants her sister to be happy so she tolerates him.

I want to say Parker will forever be my top book boyfriend but I'm not sure how accurate that will be since we have Tom Hiddleston-inspired Theo Carter for book 2. I can't tell if I love his interactions with Holly or Theo more. There were some scenes where I wanted to tell April to leave because Theo and Parker were having their bromance moments.

The plot was perfect. The book switches between past and present with dual POVs. It's really hard to pull that off without being confusing but Tanushka Bhatnagar did it. There was not a moment where I was confused. This book deserves 5 stars for that alone.

The pacing was also perfect. Nothing felt rushed. Nothing felt like it dragged on. I was sucked in from page one and binge-read the entire thing in one sitting. The pacing is even more impressive when you remember it switches timelines. Honestly, she outdid herself.

I really want to talk about how much I love Parker and April's romance but I'm afraid I'm going to accidentally spoils something so instead, I'll just say that they are soulmates. If anything happens to them I would be devastated beyond belief. They make me believe in love.

I laughed and smiled and cried and blushed throughout the entire thing. My heart physically hurt at some points because of how much I love these characters. The writing made me believe they are real people that I can call up and be friends with. I'm struggling to find the words to finish this review because there is so much more I want to say. Please please please read this book. I cannot emphasize enough how amazing it is.

P.S. Parker, if you're reading this you should break up with your girlfriend and date me instead.
P.P.S. April, if you're reading this I'm in love with your boyfriend. Also I want to be your best friend.

How is it already over?!!! Likeee whatt?!!!! And how is this a debut novel, like this was so so much better than so many other books I've read!!!

This book was one hell of a ride and I want an immediate repeat of it 😩🥺 The book made me squeal a million times, had me blushing the entirety of it and felt the best hug in the world.

Hayden Parker. HAYDEN GODDAMNN PARKER is one man I'll never get over. He was the perfect man and I don't think I'll find anyone so perfectly in love as him. He has officially made it into my top 5 book boyfriends. His gestures, his love for his girl and everything about him just screamed PERFECT. A man so swooony, a fan of Marvel and a super gorgeous stunt double, I don't think it gets any better than that.

April, my sweetheart has gone through so much and I just wanna hold her tight and give her a hug. She was so relatable at times, and such a strong character. From her quirks to her whole hearted love, she was pure sunshine.

April and Parker are one of my favourite couples and their chemistry was 🤌😩🥺💋
I mean from the first chapter itself, the love was so palpable and I just couldn't stop reading about them. They both have been through so much and yet they found their way towards each other, that's a love I want for myself. The definition of soulmates, theirs was a story I wish I could relive again and again. They were truly and completely made for each other and I am absolutely in love with them.

I still can't believe this is a debut book!! I mean this was so so good. The story hooked me from the first chapter itself and the alternating timelines and dual povs made this book so much more enticing. The side characters were amazing and I just can't wait to read about Holly and Theo. Definitely added to one of my favourites of the year.

Also, that Chapter 24 🥵🥵🥵🤌

A definite recommendation for all the readers who love a second chance romance, friends to lovers to stangers to lovers and such a perfect and obsessed boy with a bit of a spice and a book that feels like a warm hug ❣️

"The second you start falling back in love with me, you have to let me know."

Working as a celebrity publicist, April Moore is given an opportunity to work with a PR nightmare of a client for two weeks. Or she’s fired. Who knew that the client’s stunt double is her high school best friend and ex-boyfriend, Hayden Parker. After not seeing each other for 8 years because of a tragic event, will they have a chance at love again or will they crash and burn?

I have so much to say about this book, yet I can’t put anything into words. This book was fantastic. I loved how the chapters switched between April and Hayden, as well as switching between the past and the present. It allows the reader to see what each other is thinking (one of my favorite things about dual POV books) and it gives the reader a chance to see how they met and grew up together.
The characters….. Hilarious and complicated. Hayden is desperately trying to get back with April but April is hesitant because of the past. This however doesn’t stop them from having chemistry and adding quite a bit of spice to the book. I love their relationship and banter with one another.
The spice is great. I would give it 4 out of 5, which in my rating scale put this book on the same level of spice as a Tessa Bailey or Lauren Asher novel.
Overall, this book is a 5 out of 5 star rating with a 4 out of 5 spice. It was truly amazing.

Let me start this review by *intensely screaming*
Thank you so much for this ARC :)

I had high expectations from this book and ma'am, it hit all the notes. Parker is my book-boyfriend now. April, sorry not sorry. I love, love the narrating style. I loved the banter between the two of them. This book didn't shy away from talking about the real stuff- grief and how people deal with it. No matter how April chose to deal with it, she's an incredibly brave person. And the love Parker has for April is what I want for myself. And the smut? *Chef's kiss* 🤌🤌🧎🏽‍♀️🧎🏽‍♀️This book is literally one of the best books I've read this year. And I'm a little bummed that the book is over already. I swear I tried to prolong it as long as I could. A day was the max I could stretch. I gobbled it y'all. There were times I felt like crying just looking at how pure the love was between them🤧. I'm also convinced to read Rogue and Gambit comic books now.

I cannot wait for book 2. I know I'll love Holly and Theo already. Everybody, GET THIS BOOK NOW 😤😤

The Publicity Stunt is adorable. A second chance romance with childhood best friends to lovers and I'm here for it! April Moore is my kind of woman. She's a swiftie ( 🥹🫶🏼) AND loves ABBA as well as a diehard marvel fan. You really can't beat her. And then we have Hayden Parker, who is well... perfect. The two run into each-other after almost a decade and Parker makes it his life mission to not let this woman out of his life. I love him for that. I love how we get to see just how much he admires April, I LOVE IT. When we dig into the past it definitely made me shed some tears. I will say though, don't let sweet Parker fool you, we got some Exhibitionism 🥵 and I thought I was obsessed before. It's on KU so go read it!! I absolutely cannot wait for more from this new author!

I feel so, so lucky to have been chosen to receive an ARC of this book because it quickly became a new favorite romance of mine. April Moore and Hayden Parker are the best book couple I have read in a long time. Before this book, I never saw the appeal of second chance romances, but Tanushka Bhatnagar showed me the way! The friends to lovers aspect was adorable as well. I think the thing that I appreciated the most about this book was that April and Parker were able to actually learn from their mistakes rather than repeating them over and over again (which is an issue that I seem to have with many romance books, not this one though!!!). The snippets that we saw of Holly and Theo made me so excited for the next book to come. For fans of fluff, spice, and romance, this one is for you!

I'll try to not let my emotions stop me from writing this review. 🥺♥️
I first read The Publicity Stunt a few months ago as a beta reader. And I had the honor of reading it again as an ARC reader. And looking at how much this book has changed me, I truly cannot thank Tanushka for it enough. Thank you thank you thank you for making me fall in love with April and Hayden and their whole story.
Those two are the reason why I started believing in friends to lovers and second chance trope. And I'll be forever grateful for it.
I truly cannot recommend this book enough. It was beautiful and magical and it was absolutely perfect in every single way. Go go go and preorder it and read it when it's out on January 25th!!!!

“Everyone has a troubled past. I’m his. And he is mine.”❤️‍🩹

How do I begin? Ah yes! Perfect!💕 This book was perfect! I became obsessed with the characters and the story right away and was ranting to our very own author, Tanushka! I cannot believe this was a debut novel because this is so much better than most of the published novels I have read (no offence to anyone).

April Moore and Hayden Parker are made for each other. She believes in love like in the movies and he mocks the existence of the kind of love she believes in. Soulmates, right? What follows is their story of becoming friends and bringing out the best in each other, finding love and circumstances pulling them away. (Spoiler: our author writes only happy endings!😌😉)

“His hugs were always my favorite place to be.”

🌸April Moore was a beautiful character. Even though at first I was mildly (👌🏻) irritated with her but after reading about her past, everything made sense. Also, Holly and her relationship was something I absolutely adored and loved! Their bond reminded me of me and my sister’s relationship and that made me shed happy tears🥹.

“I don’t know what I mean to you anymore. But every time I think of you, I want to be with you. When I do dream, you’re all I dream of.”

🌻Hayden Parker was a sweetheart. The kind of man every woman deserves. In the book he says and I quote- “ I could make you a paper ring in the meantime.” 🥹 The way he looked after April, prioritised her needs above everyone else’s, looked out for her, loved her, made love to her (😏) just raised the bar. Though, there is a part where I went 😶. That part completely caught me off guard because I hadn’t anticipated it.

🩺Theo and Holly were such fun side characters! I absolutely loved their banter. And I could feel the sexual tension while reading their scenes. Theo and Hayden’s bromance was unexpected but I absolutely loved it!

Read this book for April and Hayden, for the love they share, for the love that we all desire, and the love we hope to experience. Don’t forget that you’ll get Holly and Theo’s scenes too and you don’t wanna miss them😉!

The book follows dual pov and dual timelines. Has a friends to lovers, second chance romance, ‘really’ good amount of spice and Marvel/X-men movie references.

5 stars!!!

April and Hayden's story... they really did best friends to lovers and second chance trope JUSTICE!

When i say I devour this book... I DEVOUR it! I enjoyed it so much from the storyline to the characters, everything was so perfect, that these still I think about april and hayden everyday!

what can I say about april and hayden other than how much I love them because I think I express that enough but oh my god these two characters are just so adorable. To start off April Moore... that's my best girl, she was so fun to read about and i really enjoyed reading her povs and I felt at times that she was my best friend. also another thing I love how about April is her relationship she has with Molly, that's so cute!

Now onto Hayden Parker... so like when can we meet up hayden? just kidding I know you have April and I won't take you from her! But seriously where. is. my. Hayden. Parker? does anyone know... hopefully he's out there somewhere! Honestly I don't what to say besides that he is truly the BEST MAN EVER! He went above and beyond for April and I don't know about you but that's dedication and he would do anything for April... yeah he's the best man for sure! I just loved reading his povs too and he would say so many sweet things to april which made my heart melt!

April and Hayden's relationship is so adorable and I really enjoyed reading about them and every time there was a scene of them or a cute moment of them it made my heart melt because of how sweet they were with each other. all I want is a relationship like hayden and april, that's all I want... anyone else?

I also loved the marvel references in this book! me being the big marvel fan that I am i absolutely love seeing all the references and the movies they were talking about.. ah I just LOVED it!

this book comes out January 25th, 2023! please go and read it when it comes out, it won't disappoint and if you love marvel like I do then you should read it!

thank you to the author for an arc in exchange for an honest review!

Soulmatism at its best.

I'm not a cheesy romance person but this was a rare exception where I ended up liking it as much as I did. It's about two best friends who randomly meet at a high school party and are inseparable since and its extremely cute. The casual love for physical touch and literally never being able to keep their hands to each other, holding hands and resting on each other's shoulders, it's all so casual that it's super duper cute. What I didn't except from this book was to have really good smut. I picked it up cause a friend said it's really cute and fluffy and boy was I wrong. Don't get me wrong, it is cute and it is fluffy but it's also really angsty and hot. The last few chapters made me really emotional. Now, I'm not a cheesy romance person so keep that in mind. There were a lot of cute scenes, a lot of scenes that involved rain and a lot of scenes that just made me swoon. April is a cutu and Parker is honestly so whipped, I honestly found it funny at times cause boy, you're in trouble.

Maybe I liked it so much cause it reminded me of some of my favourite movies and some of my favourite books (lilo) but I did like it.
I do feel though that Parker's trauma or his insecurities weren't explored enough. We did see why April felt the way she did but I would have loved to see more of it and throughout the book. I felt as if the end became really heavy all of a sudden. I love a good plot twist but I felt like 70% of the book we didn't really understand April and her insecurities and then all of a sudden, it all poured out. I would have loved to see bits and pieces of her mind throughout the book and Parker's wasn't explored enough even in the end.

But, it's a cute book. I'm almost sure if you like cheesy, you'd love this.

Arc review!

This was the first arc I've ever received and Tanushka set the bar so high.

I couldn’t stop smiling and giggling while reading this! The way April and Parker interact and bring out the best, and at times the worst in each other, made me love them even more. Love is never easy, and they both prove that love conquers all. Tanushka Bhatnagar made me realize that we all deserve someone who is our hero. Who will be there through it all and still love us. Not allowing our standards to lower.
The Publicity Stunt is the perfect friends to lovers, to strangers but never really strangers, back to friends trying to understand each other, and in love again like time never passed. It’s the the kind of rollercoaster ride you’d want to ride over and over again, trust me. Plus, the spice level...like WOW. 🥵

Thank you Tanushka for sending me an arc and I can't wait for everyone to officially meet April and Parker!

2.5 ⭐️
Idk what to think of this, believe it or not i was going to give it 4.5 stars but that thing with the marriage just blew the whole book and story for me, there was no reason for a lot of stuff and i still don’t get it, I thought parker was celibate that whole time imagine my shock when apparently be was married for two years, and there is no info if in the six years before they married were they hooking up? Were they just friends? Yeah i loved parker then he turned meh just like every other recent hero 🤷🏻‍♀️

The Publicity Stunt by Tanushka Bhatnagar
✨ARC Book Review✨
Releasing: 1/25/2023
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

“You think I want to fix you. I don’t. Not because you’re not broken …” I swallow my nerves. “I think we’re all a little broken. We all have these tiny cracks inside our hearts that none of us really knows how to fix. When I’m with you, you fill those cracks without making me forget they exist. You fill them up with happiness, with laughter and memories, and, a lot of the time, just straight-up irritation.”

This book was so good, I highly recommend reading it! I loved how it was centered on two nerdy comic book loving soulmates! And the marvel references throughout the book just made it so much better!

Plus the dual timeline gave me get a better understand of what was happening as the events happened. It is so hard to write about different points in time without making it jarring or unnecessary, but with this one it was perfect!

If you love, this book is for you:
-Best Friends to lovers
-Second Chance Romance
-Comic books/ X-men/ Marvel
-Dual POV/ Timeline
