Mostly Missing: Be Silly Be Slow

Rate this book
The two critical aspects that goes mostly missing in experiencing our lives fully as we become more and more mature are slowness and silliness.
There is not much literature on these two vital aspects of our lives that is mostly looked down upon in a world dominated by speed and seriousness, or the act of it. Yes, being dead serious or acting so is the only acceptable solution if you want to be taken seriously by your family, friends and peers. Along the way unwittingly your professional life has been mixed with your personal life. The concept of work from home has eliminated the blurred line between professional and personal space. Seriousness finds entry into a space that is meant to be silly, and the fast pace enters a life that is meant to be slow. Slowness and silliness thus have no room left in your office-home space.
This book, in two parts, explores these two vital elements of our lives that are on the verge of extinction…that are mostly missing! #BeSilly #BeSlow

Prof (Dr.) Mahul Brahma is a multi- talented & immensely felicitated, personality who is a jack of many trades, i believe. I am especially keen to read one of his books, How to Communicate Strategically in the Corporate World.

📖 This book, in two parts, explores these two vital elements of our lives that are on the verge of extinction…being silly and being slow...that are mostly missing! #BeSilly #BeSlow

🙋🏻Have you ever wondered what's our raison detre of the birth-death cycle ❓
It's to live‼️to experience, slowly devour our experiences, moments, our life, our passions..
This is one short, quick read but raises some very important issues. It felt more like reading an article or a thin booklet but i totally agree with the effort & the point the author is trying to make. Even though small in quantity, i have coloured the book red & blue because it talks sense in a few words.

As we grow older, we stop pursuing things our heart yearns for because of the fear of being termed silly unlike when we were small & fought like crazy for a toy or a watch. That "silly" is our passion, something that makes us happy & would most probably in the long run, will make us successful but till then let the world term it as silly. Turn a deaf ear & keep on pursuing your silliness.

The author takes into account the new work from home culture & the FOMO associated with technology, gadgets & the information overload. He says, slow down, don't be in a rush or pressure & keep on running haywire. Instead puse & slow down, relish life as it happens.

I totally agree with the author's outlook & am seldom in a rush. For eg: I relish the sunrise, click pictures, relish nature, smell flowers & even continuously talk with my fur baby on morning walks & don't bother being termed doing silly stuff by the onlookers. All this gives me joy & i will continue doing it.

Reading & reviewing books gives me happiness, i prefer it over watching Netflix or socialising either through social media or personally. I prefer my calm pace of peaceful life over chatting & gathering info for fear of missing out.

Do what makes you happy, slow down & pursue your passion.

Its a non fiction book. It’s a short read that can be read in few hours. Hence I will briefly summarise my blurb here. Author divided this book into two parts here or we can say author has focused mainly on two parts here. The two critical aspects that goes mostly missing in experiencing our lives fully as we become more and more mature are slowness and silliness. I liked the terminology “Be seriously Silly”. As children, we could do whatever we want but for years we have been trained for age appropriate behaviour. Then in following segment, author has narrated few professions that require this qualities. I like the examples as they are too artistic that require some different silliness. This part was quite fascinating. But the slowness part was something else. It makes the reader dig deep into their lives. All we know around, including me are part of a rat race. We run blindly behind success or materialistic things. In that we forget to take a moment and appreciate what we have already. I liked the examples author has given in this part. I liked the idea behind this book. Quick and intensely deep read. The language of the book is lucid so that everyone can read it. Quite informative. Author has explained everything with proper examples. Overall good one.

The book, as the title suggests, revolves majorly around two words: Silliness and Slowness. Although both the words don't enjoy much positivity in today's era but the writer beautifully explains their importance in our lives and that how in the race of being sensible, craving for acceptance and validation, we are letting go our passions and dreams.

The book is divided into two sections and follows non-fiction genre. It's quite an easy flowing book which hardly take half an hour to finish. Being said that, in minimum words and pages, the author is successful in exuding his thoughts positively to his reads.

Written in a much lucid language, I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a short yet meaningful non fiction story.

Do you know what is the exact meaning of "being silly" ?

Silly means truth towards the craft and your creativity with uncertainty as an eternal shadow.

This book, in two parts, explores these two vital elements that are on the verge of extinction in our lives…that are mostly missing!
Naturally, even as we immerse ourselves in neck-break speed, adrenaline rush and seriousness…at every moment we know deep inside something is missing…mostly.

Author has explored a few facets of passion and the silliness necessary to pursue them for life.

In this book, Author wants to say "you don’t stop…you stay silly".

According to me "wo kehte hai na kamiyaan to har kisi me hoti hai, kamiyaan hi insan ko behtar banati hai.... behtar wo hai jo unn kamiyon me chhipii khubiyaan tarashein" 💕

Such silliness makes history!

Since the time you start taking your passion seriously…your silliness begins. People are always quick to find faults.

Author - Prof (Dr) Mahul Brahma
Genre - non fiction
Pages - 43
Format - kindle

In this book as the title suggests the author has penned down two major aspects of life which are totally missing in literature - silliness and slowness. The book is divided into 2 parts and explores these two vital elements that are on the verge of extinction in our lives.

The cover of the book is simple and aptly designed. The plot of the book is interesting and unique. Really the author has brought a new thought, idea and perspective in this book.
Language used is simple and lucid. The flow of the book is well paced. According to this book silliness and slowness are must because in their absence there is lack of depth and a steady loss of patience and tolerance.

Overall, an essential read.

Mostly Missing by Prof Mahul Brahma is a non-fiction read. It's a short read focusing on two parts: how to add silliness and slowness to our life and make it more interesting and enjoyable. Those two words don't give you the confidence as the norm of the living world but the author has explained the importance of adding them to our life.

The language is pretty lucid and the narration is fast-paced and smooth. It's quite a nice and informative book for a quick read. The author explains how passion and silliness go hand in hand and how they can help you see and give you the confidence to pursue things you feel far reached.

I liked how the author stated the importance of slowness and taking rest when needed to recharge to face the world with the new vigorous. It's a nice and easy read. I would recommend this to people looking for a short and inspirational read.

Book Name -: Mostly Silly : Be Silly Be Slow
Writer -: Mahul Brahma
Genre - Non Fiction

Short Summary & Review -: The book mainly focuses on two terms 'Being Silly' and 'Being Slow' which become extinct from our life as we grow up. The author has tried to explain 2 different states of life, 1st one is about our childhood where he shared the things we use to do, like acting so silly to get something which we want but then she shared the comparison between our todays like where things have totally changed, where we now have eyes on us and we can't act so childish because the ecosystem humans have created has killed that silliness deep inside everyone.

But there are people who have this silliness alive in them. Starting from a Writer to a filmmaker each one is nothing less than a silly person in their own way and this 'Being Silly' has made them the real self. Then writer move on to the topic about 'Being Slow' and tried to give his opinions by giving a quick comparison of our lives.

Things I Liked -:

1. The topic which the author tried to share was something which i really liked reading about. As it was something very relatable. You know things have changed so much since our childhood so while reading books like these many thoughts come to our mind like the days we use to enjoy and the happily spent time of our life but now everything is just a memory but what about our personality. Have we become really different then what we use to be or are we just trying to fit in the society to live a life that others expect from you. Author has tried to show us that how silliness was not just a age related term. It is still inside everyone whether you're in your 20s, 40s,etc. And to be honest reading a book sharing about all these things just made my time great.

2. The Narration was simply beautiful. It was just a 49 pages read but i didn't even notice when did i finish it. You see every page shared something Which compelled me to think about myself by putting myself into the situation author has written in the book. It all felt too real to me and i was Literally feeling everything in my mind. Thanks to the Fluid narration.

3. The language used was pretty easy to read and understand. This could be a great book for newbie readers and i honestly think ath that they are going to love this.

Final Thoughts -: Overall a very clean, simple and realistic book. The terms shared in the book will make you feel refreshed & relaxed after finishing it. A perfect short read that worth your time.

Rating -: 5/5 🌟
