Outcasts of Corin #5

The Alien's Charge

Rate this book
I don’t play by the rules… until her.

Maisie: I’m tired of being scared, but fear is like a constant companion these days. Some big blue alien stole the last of my friends, and now I’m alone as a prisoner on a spaceship on my way back to the planet that stole everything from me.

I thought I’d seen the last of the blue aliens, until suddenly I’m staring into the eyes of one as he gets ready to fire a laser right into the cockpit where I sit. And at this point in my life, I’m thinking this might be the best way to go.

Maddic: I’m minding my own business when an enemy aircraft tries to shoot me out of the sky. Of course I’m going to retaliate, and as I line up my final shot, something from inside the enemies cockpit catches my eye—the face of a terrified human female.

Now I’m trying to save both of us from hurtling to the ground and going splat. I figure that’s my most difficult task yet. I don’t factor in learning that this human is my mate, and if I don’t get her to trust me, we’re never getting home.

Terrific alien book boyfriend.

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚💜💙🩷
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 😒🤩😀🙂😍
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Maisie - she was kidnapped from her home by aliens, brought to a facility on the planet called Torin and experimented on by a race of aliens called the Kruul. All of the other females she was held with ended up with some kind of ability, but she doesn’t know if she has one or if it just hasn’t manifested yet. They escaped their captors and ended up on a nearby planet called Corin, where they were again abducted and separated. She ended up seeing her friend Lu fall from the sky with a big blue alien. She is nearly ready to give up on life.

The Hero: Maddic - He is a bit of a wisecracking, happy-go-lucky Drexonian outcast. One day while flying around on his cruiser, he is fired upon by another ship and when he is about to blow it away, he sees a tiny human female on the bridge of the other spacecraft. He decides on the spot that he has to save her. Maddic has a great outlook on his life, and he isn’t ashamed of being a son of nought. His mother didn’t believe in the laws, and she made sure he had great self esteem and had all the experiences of a regular Drixonian.

The Story: Maisie and Maddic end up in a ruined cruiser on Torin with no way to return to Corin. Maisie was afraid of Maddic because the last she had seen of her friend Lu was when a big blue alien like him took her and they were pushed from the ship by one of the aliens that had taken them. It was a bit before Maddic was able to get close enough to Maisie to update her translator so he could tell her he meant her no harm.

I liked this story, because Maddic was so laid back and such a happy guy and Maisie was so fearful at the beginning because she had been mistreated by every alien she had encountered to that point. Maisie got braver as the story progressed. Maddic’s attitude wore off on Maddie and he wouldn’t let her stay meek and afraid. He built her up so that she saw herself in a new light.

I love how Maisie’s journey isn’t just about survival but also about reclaiming her sense of self. The contrast between her fear and Maddic’s easygoing nature makes for such a compelling dynamic—he’s exactly the kind of character who challenges his counterpart to grow.

This audiobook was told in multiple perspectives, done in dual narration and was narrated by Reagan West and Gabriel Mcknight. Reagan West has a terrific voice which I like very much. She is great at showing emotions through her voice. Gabriel Mcknight has a soft voice and is great at doing different voices for different characters.

Yes! I really liked this one. For many, many reasons. I love that we finally find out what Maisie's alter is. And honestly, she has the best one so far out of all the women. I love how she and Maddic just totally compliment one another. Yin and yang. Light and Dark. Ocean and Sand.. They're just amazing together.

But the thing that had my heart soaring here is that Quist and Sierra are in this one as well! We get an awesome update with them as well as a true HEA all around for them and the family they've made together.

Ms Maven has spoiled me once again with the way she writes these compelling stories.
Lots of action and suspense here too.🤗🤗🤗

Yes. Of course I would recommend this read. Book is on KU.

I cannot wait till March 2023, for the I believe, final book (6) in this Spin Off.

She mattered even more than She is All. In this moment, I knew that for the rest of my life, my creed was Maisie is All.

yeah maddic is the standard 🤌🏼 best ella maven book!! they were good for each other, didn't create extra drama and solved problems together💅🏽

plus i'm so happy for sierra and quist 😭

Definitely my favorite in the series so far! I loved the healing journey Maisie went on the the confidence she grew once she knew she was safe with Maddox. And the little side family they found was super sweet. Can’t wait to read the next book and for all the girls to be reunited and living happy lives together.

Takes the formula for this series and just does it really, really well. I don’t think it works as a standalone, but I enjoy seeing the way this part of the series has wrapped up. Cute.

5 ⭐️ I think Maddic might be my new favourite outcast!

This was so good, I loved the way Maddic (H) hyped up Maisie (h) and helped her build her confidence, he was so silly but so sweet at the same time – and baby Trist was the absolute cutest!

– Dual pov
– Dual virgin! 🥰
– Alien H/human h
– No cliffhanger
– No epilogue but wasn't even disappointed because it was so good and I know we'll see more as the series comes close to the end

My fellow Aehako and Kira fans, this is the book for you! It has very similar relationship dynamics that I really enjoyed it! Aehako is my favorite Ice Planet Barbarian (by Ruby Dixon) if you can’t tell 🤣

GAH MADDIC IS PERFECT. He might be my favorite out of this series. He is this roguish, Jack Sparrow-like, reckless pilot that has no interest in a mate or human females, but also doesn’t think he is unworthy of one like his other brothers of naught, which fuck ya love that! I personally found it a bit draining reading 4 books where they all constantly had the same undeserving feelings. Even though it completely made sense why, they are outcasts after all, I found myself craving a bit more diversity in the MMCs after the first book or 2.

I loved Maisie, I connected with her on so many levels. As a trauma survivor and someone with CPTSD, her trauma responses really resonated with me, and mirrored some of my own feelings and thoughts. It was extremely healing and cathartic to follow her journey from the dark lows to the healing highs!

What I particularly love about this story and the way it unfolds, is that both MCs aren’t really interested in each other at first. They’re not even thinking of anything romantic in the beginning. Then as they resolve some things, and notice things about each other, there are these little bread crumbs of attraction to each other’s character, not insta love or lust (which I personally struggle enjoying- demisexual, thy name is me😆). Although this is fated mates, it’s not like WHAM he sees her and his dick turns into magnet for her vagina; they actually fall in love with each other as beings first.

I really loved this one. Definitely a lower spice, slow burn, most of the spice doesn’t happen until well into the book, but shit these to were just awesome. This book actually made me emotional at times, not any easy thing to do, and the things Maddic said to a traumatized Maisie was a soothing balm to my own healing soul. Plus, Maddic was a TRIP!🤣💚

Peen- Two words: SUCTION PROTRUSIONS. 👀👀👀

I think this is possibly my fav book of the series. This book explores Maisie and Maddic’s story and I fell in love with it!

Their personalities are so different but they still complement each other so well. Maisie being scared and timid but you watch her grow throughout the book with Max’s confident self helping her all through. Even Maddic, I liked him immediately, crazy yet strong and confident (too confident) more like but it made him who he is.

He cared for Mais sweetly and even encouraged her to believe more in herself throughout. Now I wasn’t expecting Maisie’s power but that was amazing! I understand why she got so scared of what she could do but it was nice to see Maddic make her understand that she’s powerful and could control it.

One major thing I loved about this book was the discover of Quint and Sierra and lovely Trist! They are such a cute family and I got attached immediately. I was scared they won’t have been able to take them back with them but that was done so well and the whole welcome back party made me tear up a bit.

Tbh the writing did get a bit repetitive as it went on especially the spicy scenes but it was still a good read. I’m kind of attached to the whole Drix families atp. It would be nice to have a book of all of them settling in when everyone has been found!

The hero is in a spaceship and firing on an enemy spaceship when he sees the human heroine. He can't fire and destroy their ship so he puts on his spacesuit and attacks the ship to rescue her.

She is traumatized and afraid of him. They are on the run and trying to get to safety.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

They have to flee into the ocean to escape the aliens. They are rescued by Quist (tentacles in the water alien guy) from the earlier book Alien Depths. So he and his heroine finally get a better happy ever after, instead of being stuck on an island they can't leave.

They all wait until the aliens attack again so they can kill them and use their communications radio from the alien ship. Ocean is dangerous and his daughter can't swim to leave the island. They contact the good alien Drixonians to come pick them all up.

Quist (tentacles alien guy) and his human mate and daughter all go to live in a village next to the stream so Quist can stay wet in the water like he needs to.

Everyone gets a happy ever after.

Outcasts of Corin ❤️‍🔥Maddic & Maisie❤️‍🔥

Ella Maven, you have done it yet again. Maddic & Maisie's story is beautiful & perfect & contains so much more than their HEA. We get to meet Quist, Sierra & Trist & what a beautiful little family they are.

This story struck a chord within me. I sadly have a lot of fear & crippling anxiety, much like Maisie before she meets Maddic. After Maisie begins to trust Mad, he helps her to believe that she is strong & brave. They continue to bring out the very best in each other in spite of a very dangerous planet with equally dangerous evil aliens & creatures.

There is so much more to this story, including the romance & love story, beautiful reunions & more more more. These books are the best thing to happen to me in a very long time. They are creatively & beautifully written, phenomenal books. I read two today & hate that I have to sleep before starting the next one tomorrow. I can hardly wait ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

I have never read an Ella Maven book that I didn't love. Maisie and Maddic's story was exciting and adventurous, as each story in this world is. I'm glad that the characters from the novella, "Rescued from the Depths" were included in this story. With all of the special skills that the Stolen Warriors have acquired, the Drixonians have truly become a force to be reckoned with.
I love the endings where we get to see the village of Granit and some of the characters that live on Corin. I love the magic of the loks. I love when the warriors go into battle and simultaneously state "She is all".
I would like to see more stuff happen in Granit like a big village festival where the Kaluma are invited as well. I wish that I could see photos of Hap's furniture. I would also like to see this book series turned into a TV series.
I look forward to the release of The Alien's Chase.

LOVED IT

Loving this series! Each character is so captivating with a rich and heartbreaking past. Maisie was a collage student when she suddenly woke up on another world as a lab rat for vile aliens. She never understood wheat they did to her, too terrified to think about the results of the a terrible scar on her head. After years of experiments and pain in captivity she and her friends manage to escape. They forage a life for themselves on another planet until one day another alien race raids their camp and she is separated from her friends. After weeks of being shuttled around to this alien and that she is rescued by Maddic, a Drixonian warrior. Even though they can’t communicate right away, he knows who she is and is determined to bring her back to her friends. Along the way he helps her realize how strong she is and what she is truly capable of.

Until midnight curfew

You will get title when you read ending. Which I loved.
Great story. Was surprised when her other ability showed up. Will not spoil it.
Her Dix mate was funny and great change from others. Only thing I wished was an idea of what he would do after settling in village. Since he was training to be one of space ship captains.
Was really hoping author would have him on rotating (with other trainees) planet wide tours. Finding out evil settlers, and communicating info, messages with other Dexels. Helping tect teams reestablish planet wide communication networks. As well surveillance alerts on borders.
Hope next series will be about another Drexel team that goes out to rescue humans to give chance for more pairings. As well saving other planet captured species on there new home and other planet with the new leadership that used to be there enemy.

CW: suicide ideation, suicide attempt

Loved the pairing of Maisie and Maddic. When they met, Maisie had lost all hope, all strength, everything, while Maddic is a mostly carefree flyboy. But when the two were stranded on the wrong planet, they managed to bring out the best in one another. Maisie started to get her self-worth back, and Maddic put his focus on someone other than himself for once.

The editing has hit a new low in this book, which breaks my heart. I'm loving this series of stories, but the frequency of typos, omitted words, and incorrect word choices has become very distracting.

Maisie is such a sweet and relatable character, and Maddic is the perfect mate for her. He’s rough to her softness, confident to her insecurity, and together they bring out the best in each other.

This series is one of my absolute favorites, it’s like coming home every time I read a new book. Seeing characters from previous books is so heartwarming, just knowing their stories are continuing and that they’re happy is very comforting. The addition of the characters from one of the side books on the series, Rescued from the Depths, was a great treat even if that book wasn’t a favorite of mine. Their story finally feels wrapped up and I truly loved it.

love this series

i’ve literally read almost every book in all of the Drixonian’s series’ (and Kaluma) and i love them ALL so much but this might be my favorite. i LOVED that we got to see old friends and more than one happy ending, there’s not much more i can say other than everyone should read these books. ELLA MAVEN, you’re an amazing writer, thank you for these and i can’t wait for the next one and hopefully even more after that.

Cute story. Nice running into Quist and Sierra again.

Like this couple. I like when the couple is united against adversity and not against each other due to a contrived misunderstanding.

Not my favorite type of virgin but….

Innocence of virgin hero: 5/5
Innocence in losing it: 1/5
Build up to losing it: 4/5
Hotness of losing it: 2/5
Busted touching himself: no
POV of losing it: male

The two come to a truce and finally start to communicate and all hell breaks loose. The run of their lives reveals the h has un tapped potential no one knew about and the H does everything to keep her safe and tech her she is strong and worthy.

Okay so this one may have just been my favorite of the group!

🛸space ship crash
🛸impulsive ray of sunshine
🛸cautious survivor
🛸comfort from nightmares
🛸hidden power
🛸found family
🛸fated mates

Something about crazy, impulsive Maddic calming enough to show gentleness to overly anxious Maisie warmed my heart. He helped her gain confidence in herself and discover a whole new side to who she truly is on the process.

Really enjoyed this

I think I enjoyed this more because Quiet and Sierra were brought back into this story!! It was so poignant at times!! Mad and Mais... The main protagonists... What a team! They were amazing together. We really see Maisie develop into the strong woman that she was and Maddox is just so gentle and patient with her, yet firm!! Really liked this even more because she is Chinese. Ms. Maven you have excelled yourself!!

Fast paced!

I loved this story. It was fast paced, exciting and adventure filled. Maddic is a happy go lucky daredevil and his character made me laugh. I loved his self assurance and how at ease he was with himself and the fact that he was a son of naught. Maisie was perfect for Maddic and she grew to love who she was with help from her mate. It was great to see the intro of a few new characters in this story, too. Highly entertaining read.

Awesome!

I absolutely loved it! Wild and crazy Maddic was perfect for Maudie, his confidence in her really brought her out of her shell. And it was wonderful to see Quist and Sierra again. I felt teary eyed that they were able to go to Corin too. It’s going to be so hard when the series ends, I’m hoping for a breakout new series on the same planet..hint, hint.

Always love Ella Maven's stories, and I've been following her Drixonians for years. Her earliest works sometimes show up in her new stories, kinda like catching up with old friends. Personally I hope that she never runs out of new characters, though I know that it's not possible. Thanks for the books Ella, just wish there were more.

The special thing about this series for me is that the human heroines have special powers. Most alien books contain kidnapped and vulnerable humans who need the protection and help of alien heroes. Here in this series, we find it interesting that the heroine is gentle in a gentle way, but she has a distinctive strength that gives the book a higher level.
