Feuervogel: Eine Bloomsbury-Liebesgeschichte

Rate this book

This is a meticulously researched book by an expert on the Bloomsbury Group but Professor Sellers' scholarship doesn't make this a weighty tome. It is a charming engaging story - based on Lydia Lopokova and Maynard Keynes and their friends - but reimagined to bring the fascinating relationships and constraints of the times to life.
I have one small criticism - although this isn't detract from my enjoyment of the book - and it is that Sellers' sentences can be overlong, and I did on several occasions need to reread certain short passages to make out her meaning.

Wonderfully imaginative, fun and moving envisioning of a little-known love story!

An absolute joy! Not my natural genre but I was persuaded as I had enjoyed 1919 in which Keynes appears and

An interesting imagining of a lesser known couple in the Bloomsbury circle.

Loved this book but then I am a Bloomsbury Group fanatic. You don’t have to be though to read this. The fictionalised story of John Maynard Keynes love affair with ballet dancer Lydia Lopokova based on fact. A lovely warm hearted read
