This is an unsurprising finish to a fantastic journey. Devan and Tan have to go through some hurdles as usual until they fix everything that bitch Serenity had broken. The last part of the series is quite action-packed. I thought it was a bit sad that you get to read so little of the emotional side between Tan and his knight. I would have liked a little more of the bliss.
The little bit of sexy time you get is so exceptional …

Tan lay panting under him, mind scattered to the four winds. Words were past him, doing anything but riding the wave of endorphins was beyond his capabilities. Even breathing steadily took effort.
Tan’s brain had officially left the building. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause at this time. Please try again later.

Yes, I still need more of this, crap that this is over now. 😪🤧😭

Devan needed to find a way to protect the people from Princess Serenity while being with the love of his life. Tan just wanted whatever made Devan happy and was willing to do any and everything for his man. Somehow they made it work and I loved it!

Both men were their badass selves. The people knew who they wanted to rule and it wasn't Serenity of her father, the king. And I was giddy getting to read all about it!

Honestly, if you like stories about adventure, action, hilarious ridiculousness and tons of love, you need to grab this series up. Devan and Tan, their motley crew of allies, and everything they all experience and do, will keep you entertained!!

Perfection. I had no idea how enjoyable and good this series would be based on the covers. In retrospect, I should have realized that such cuteness would contain…cuteness. It’s also sweet, funny, and highly entertaining.

When I say that I enjoy a bit of ridiculousness and banter, this is what I mean! I want the silly, but I also want moments of seriousness, character development, and plot. These novellas have it all and it’s done so well. I will say that some of it felt rushed, but I’ve realized all good novellas leave you wanting just a bit more and these are no exception.

"He met Tan’s eyes and there was a mutual understanding there. Both of them had reached the point where they could not care less. Their field of fucks to give was not only barren but fallow, with no harvest in the future."

Yay I got to the end!
I skipped a bit because the 6. book was nearly too much for me. Book 4, 5 and 6 could have been condensed in 2 books for my liking (and therefore limiting The Whole Works at 445 not 545 pages). My attention span seems to end around 400 pages if the MCs are already an established couple at that point, like in this case.. but that's just me. Obviously many loved this till the crazy end.

3 stars for the 6. book.

Overall 4, 25 stars for the series.

The good
+ Tan collecting towns like stamps
+ People turning to Devan and Tan for help without bribes or persuasion
+ Wells taking great care of his cat
+ Devan getting adopted by his own cat

The neutral
o Abolishing all taxes is stupid. Who's going to pay for public conveniences such as roads now? Who's going to pay the knights and other employees? I understand there's no need for high taxes, but there is need for some!

The bad
- They casually as if it was no big deal. Sure, Serenity and her father deserved the worst. And yes, some of the next in line were probably also not good people. But how can Devan be sure that the next fifteen people in line for the throne were all bad people? After all, he acted like Serenity's lap dog for ten years. He couldn't possibly have known the true intentions of all these people hiding behind the masks they presented to Princess Bitch. It was completely out of character for Devan to act like this, and unnecessarily cruel
- Devan did not want . Sooo, why not let Wells take it? Or anyone else he trusted? Devan could still have taken on the role of an advisor. Now, he regularly went out to kill monsters and stuff. But that's way too dangerous for someone in his position, because his death would cause utter mayhem. Again, it just really doesn't fit his character
- Tan never met Devan's family properly. A really big missed opportunity
- Was Wells Stockholmed into liking Fa? I didn't find this storyline funny at all. If the roles had been reversed and a dirty, overbearing and gross man with no boundaries had pursued and stalked a nice woman in this manner, it would have caused outrage. Why is it fine when it's a disgusting woman chasing a nice man?

This serial had so much potential, and I loved the way it started. However, this ending is not satisfying at all and doesn't fit the characters we got to know throughout the previous installments. Devan and Tan are supposed to be free, not shackled to even more duties. Whereas I was really enthusiastic about the previous stories, I'm afraid I wouldn't recommend the serial as a whole. It did not deliver.

A fitting end to the tale of our white knight and his black sorcerer!

I’ve greatly enjoyed reading these stories of Devan and Tan’s adventures. This time, Princess Serenity finally gets her comeuppance in spectacular fashion and while the overall arc ends rather predictably, these are the light, fluffy balm that your soul just needs sometimes.

Come for the cuddles and stay for the bonks 😉

4.5 stars. Audiobook. Fun and satisfying. Rated as a whole, series of novellas that I read all bundled together. Seamless transition from one installment to another. Big bad quirky wizard and palace knight go on adventures, great us-against-the-world vibes. Magic, portals, high fantasy, great world building, great writing. I adore that the hugely powerful wizard is actually bad a$$ and uses his power in the story. Immensely quirky, lovely shenanigans, excellent slow burn romance. Perfect amount of romance, story and spice. Thoroughly enjoyed.

HEA, m/m, high fantasy, low angst, low drama, medium spice, magic, knight.

absolutely entertaining

The final book in this serial fantasy adventure provided a conclusion that hit the spot. There were battles and love scenes. Tan and Devon epitomizes the saying "the couple that slays together, stays together ".

If you are looking for a light, fun read then this is the series for you.

It's over. Will defo read the collection and bonus. It was less run and more tell Princess bitch where to go. Same with the rebellion. Accidental collection. I wanted to see a bit more of Wells and Fa. Maybe Niran with Serenity's spine. Tan and Devan were a solid unit with added fluffy kittens. It was entertaining seeing Tan go from bad to good, and how bored they both were. Despite all the killing and kidnapping, it was a fun ending to an amusing series. I look forward to the next one.

This was one of the best books (all six together) I read this year.

It was sooo much fun that I had troubles sitting on my couch.

So glad I started this series. Serious recommendation for everyone who wants to have fun

I really hope there will be something like that soon. Would love to see another installment of Tan and Devan

I was sorry that this was the last book in the series. I have enjoyed Devan and Tan adventures warring with the demented Princess Serenity.
I love how Tan was written and the way he spoke.
A great series.

4⭐

For the first half(?) I was really enjoying this one. Kind of circling back to the major events from the earlier books. Very satisfying. Then we got timeskips. So many timeskips. It was still nice, but timeskips...

great conclusion

Though long in coming, the outcome was a little more…blood thirsty, than I expected. Everyone got what they deserved in the end and this series made me so happy!!!

Throw the morality of murder out the door and enjoy this beautiful, adventurous, romantic, EPIC story about a dutiful knight and a sorcerer who loves to go stabby stabby sometimes 🥰
I had so much fun reading this series, the only con being as how the books are so small.

I'll admit it... I was nervous!!! Even though I knew "good" would prevail... there is still the fact that "evil" can throw a ringer into the best-laid plans...

Alas, good DID prevail over evil and everyone got their HEA... just like I knew they would from the very first time I met Tan and Devan! It was not an easy win, but it was an excellent win! Off to read How I Stole The Princess's White Knight and Turned Him to Villainy: The Coronation: The Complete Works Bonus Short Story and then I guess it will be goodbye...😭😭😭

After essentially trying to enslave her White Knight, Dylan, by forcing him to marry her, the evil princess kept fucking around until she found out.

I'd already been over Serenity's bullshit for several novellas, so I was all about seeing her finally get some much-deserved comeuppance, which finally, blessedly happened in this last story of the series.
“Sorcerer. Why are you here?”

“Your spoiled child dared lay claim to something that is not hers. I am frankly out of patience with her.”

Serenity found her backbone and snapped back, “Everything here is mine!”

She was going to die, Devan realized surreally. She was going to die, because Tan was out of patience, and Devan wouldn’t do a damn thing to stop him.
I did find her day of reckoning a bit rushed, because I wanted some sweet, slow revenge, instead of it being over quite so quickly.

And when the country was fresh out of (asshole) royals, I was happy to see how much faith and trust that the entire country of Goodwine placed with Dylan. If anyone had earned that, it was him. And Tan, of course. 🙂

[My take on Devan...]

[My take on Tan...]

I'm glad that I read this weird, quirky, magical fantasy series and I'd rate this last installment at around 4 stars.

“Honey, a nice town followed me home. Can I keep it?” Devan chuckled, the sound low and earthy. “If you must.”
