In a culture driven by advertising, convenience, and weight-loss gimmicks, our relationship with food has become sadly out-of touch. Yoga teacher Myra Lewin encourages us to slow down and cultivate a healthy relationship with what we put in our bodies. Drawing from the basic principles of Ayurveda and Yoga, Freedom in Your Relationship to Food is a simple and effective guide to enhancing your relationship with food and the process of eating. Including lists of foods to seek out or avoid, simple breathing and meditation exercises, and practical recipes, this book will help you overcome mental and physical obstacles to attain excellent health.
I hope this book can be rereleased in a new edition that it deserves because it’s excellent. Mostly I just have issue with the uninteresting pear fruit cover (sorry Ms. Myra) because it doesn’t even hint at what a gem this book is (although I get it: the pears are balanced).
It is a wealth of knowledge of Myra’s many years of experience with Ayurveda, relayed with simple clarity.
This is a winner! Your explanation of the doshas, the many aspects of good health, along with the temptations and pitfalls along the way are messages that will give support to many people. I enjoyed reading everything you offered! I will show it to my students next week and encourage them to buy one if they are so inclined.
The recipes alone are worth the price of the book. It's helpful to have such yummy recipes all in one place. I like the selections you chose to publish. The Pumpkin and Sweet Potato Pie looks fabulous since it has some of my favorite foods and spices in it. Also, I love Yogurt Lassis and will try yours as I have yet to experience it with those particular spices. My cooking remains at a bare minimum but your recipes appear easy and straightforward to put together.
I'm so pleased you included your picture. You continue to be absolutely adorable and appear to be a beautiful living example of vibrant health.
