Can a vulnerable human become a dragon warrior’s greatest treasure?
For generations, Drakkar’s people have chosen to live alone, only coming together for brief periods, but when he joins the battle raging across his home planet, he finds an unexpected family in a set of misfit warriors. After the war ends, he chooses to cut all ties to his past and accompany his new brothers to a backwater planet.
He knows he is not suited for a mate and a family, but as he watches his brothers choose human brides, he finds himself envying those relationships. Then a vulnerable female awakens his protective instincts. He is determined to save her - and her precious child - even though he knows he cannot keep them.
Kitty has a history of foolish decisions, but now that she has a child to protect she is determined to change her ways. She refuses to let the arrogant dragon-like warrior who rescues her become yet another mistake. But there is a hidden vulnerability behind his haughty demeanor, and once again her heart threatens to lead her astray.
Stranded in an isolated mountain cave in the middle of a blizzard, can Kitty find the courage to trust again? And can Drakkar overcome a lifetime of solitude for a chance at happiness?
Book 4 was even better than book 3 and I rated that high too. Absolutely adore this series. Drakkar and Kitty are my favorite couple tied with Callum and Pearl. I just knew our male protagonist would have this great back story about why he felt that he couldn't mate like the rest of his brothers. So much pain in Drakkar's life and in Kitty's too.
Since each book covers a different couple, it can be read as a stand alone. Although the couples from the three previous books, are in the last few chapters and I love how they helped D&K get their happily ever after.
This book like all the others made me want to scream real bad. I love this whole cozy series and the narrator is chef’s kiss too !! I can’t wait to read the next one in the series ❤️🩷
3.7 stars. This was another fun installment in the series. I love Drakkar a LOT. I feel like there was some major trauma with Kitty that gets brushed aside pretty quickly. I understand this is a short book but if felt like she went through a lot, especially with her baby daddy to not have it discussed.
I think this is my favorite in the series so far!!
Like his alien brothers, Drakkar has taken a human bride as his own. Her name is Kitty, and she has been living in a dangerous situation with her newborn baby Lola. Drakkar saves her and the baby and takes them back to his cave. They are then stuck there for weeks, due to a snowstorm raging outside. But Drakkar has some inner demons he is working through, that won't fully allow him to accept the fact that Kitty is falling for him.
This was such a great read! I like how we had a single mom in here and loved seeing Drakkat embrace Lola like she was his own. These two were so sweet, and I loved seeing their romance blossom :)
TW: previous domestic abuse, attempted SA (not the hero), previous child abandonment
TROPES: alien romance, forced proximity, kindle unlimited, savior, single mom, single parent, snowstorm
This was just so sweet, in the very best way! It has me convinced that every book in this series is a sure winner; although, of course, I will be giving them all their final ranking order once I've read all seven books!
In this one, we have none other than our dragon brother, Drakkar, who is totally not interested in having a bride, thank you very much. No, what he's legit interested in--at first--is just protecting Kitty and her baby, Lola, and that's it.
Like...literally, it's quite maddening how much control he has or tries to exert over himself and his surroundings. Like...dude, let loose, why doncha?
Kitty will soon have him realizing just what that means, while Drakkar in turn helps her realize what real love is. As seems to be a common theme for the books of this series, each couple is healing each other, helping the other to become stronger, and overall just building a good life and relationship together!
Next up is Endark's story whom, yes, I am definitely excited for after all the buildup! Let's away, friends!
I binged all 7 of these short stories. They are cute and nicely interwoven. 4-stars may be generous, but these have all the ingredients of a classic forced-proximity romance. In addition, all 7 aliens are very different in looks and features, as well as attitude and sexual preferences. Obviously there will be some similarities in the plots, as the all happen in parallel, but it is well done.
I greatly enjoyed this story and I thought it was really sweet to read about Kitty and Drakkar. Also, the scenes between Drakkar and Lola are so hear melting! Only thing I wish for is a more developed resolution with Kitty's ex. Overall, I loved the book and I can't wait to read next one!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
4⭐️ I always rate books based on what type of book they are/supposed to be. This is not meant to be some modern-day masterpiece, but just a cozy alien romance on a farm planet. It delivered! I have really enjoyed this series, despite some minor grammar things (really minor) it was great. I do feel like each of these stories is very rushed, which does hurt my rating a bit. The spice scenes also aren’t very descriptive, I found that a lot of scenes weren’t descriptive, but still a good read! Can’t wait for the next one. Personally, I am very interested to read Gilmat and Frandorr’s stories (but Endark is next unfortunately for me).
Drakkar never intended to take a bride. He heard another man attacking her and saved her. So he brought her to his cave to protect her.
Then he fell in love with her but his people don't have mates or families. They breed then the women raise the children alone for 1 year, then the kids are sent to boarding school.
The heroine had to pursue him since he kept pushing her away. I didn't like that he constantly questioned himself.
I didn't love this one. I'm not sure if I'm just not liking insta-love stories as much as I used to, or what it is, but this one only got done because it was so short. I think I just wanted more. There wasn't anything wrong with any of it and yet I still just didn't like it very much. Hoping the next one brings back my love for this series.
This series is still a lot of fun. I've enjoyed all the brother's books so far. This one felt a little quick comparatively, but I guess that's what happens with novellas. I loved Drakkar's cave. I kind of want to live there, too. Overall, short and always sweet.
This was a good sci-fi alien romance. It had some steam, but also some sweet moments as Drakkar and Kitty got to know each other. The way Drakkar looked was a bit different, but that didn't seem to bother Kitty. It gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded up to 4 stars.
I liked Drakkar a great deal, and loved that he was so protective of Kitty and her daughter. The sad way he was raised made him think he wasn't capable of a committed relationship, but he soon realized that he would never hurt Kitty or her daughter. He had been taught that his people were too violent for committed relationships, but Kitty showed him that was wrong. I also really liked how he immediately adored Kitty's daughter Lola, and was happy to be her stepdad.
I liked Kitty, too, and thought it was sad that her mistreatment by men had led her to make bad decisions. It was sweet when she realized that Drakkar could be trusted, and that he would never hurt/betray her or her daughter.
Overall, I really liked this book. I did wish it had been a bit longer, to allow for more character development. I would have liked more backstory on both Drakkar and Kitty.
Other reviewers have noted that they dislike the covers on this book series, since they look like comic books. I'm not really a fan either -- but I suspect that was so that the alien men on the covers could look like they were described in the book. It would have been difficult, and possibly quite costly, to use actual male models and make them look like the aliens. I prefer comic book style covers to those where the models don't look like the descriptions of the characters in the books.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
I think Drakkar is my favorite in this series, so far at least. I mean we still have a few more brothers left and my mind can always be changed.
Drakkar knows that he won't obtain a bride and live as a family like his brothers are so determined to do. It's not the way of his people. But his curiosity gets the better of him and he finds himself going to the town down the mountain with his 2 brothers who are going on the hunt for brides. His people may not take brides or mates, but he also can't sit by and watch a woman being hurt or taken against her will. When he rescues Kitty and her daughter feelings stir that he's not experienced nor does he believe he can feel because it's not his people's way. But he can't leave her in the town where the man can come back to harm her and most definitely not in the small place she calls a home.
Kitty is an outsider among the citizens of Wainwright due to her being an unwed mother. Her need for love, acceptance, and her naivety has caused Kitty to make many questionable and bad choices. When one of the alien's that live on the ranch saves her she's thankful but skeptical. In her experience everything done for her always comes with a price. However, Drakkar is different and an interesting character. Over the weeks that they are isolated in Drakkar's caves due to the winter storms feelings start to develop. For Kitty she's a bit gun-shy on acting on these feelings because she's been burned before. In Drakkar's case these feelings aren't the norm for his people so he doesn't know how he should proceed.
I said Drakkar is my favorite and I really think the biggest reason that he is my favorite is because Kitty really pushes Drakkar to think outside the box that his people's beliefs seemed to place him in. Drakkar believes himself to be one way and that he has to stay true to his nature, but Kitty gives him reason to look at things her way and see that he no longer is just an Arkani and he's no longer living among his people and is allowed to branch out to his own path of happiness.
Drakkar's species has a very strict set of rules for how they handle relationships, emotions, procreation and anything that might bring them into contact with one another. They hand off their offspring when they are about one year after having to pretty much fight each other while mating. Very unpleasant and painful. He doesn't remember either of his parents and has been somewhat brainwashed to the ways of his people. Thankfully he found Artek and the rest of the team. He is not meant to have family but these other males have become his brothers and he is starting to see how stunted the rules he was brought up with are. Even more so when he spends time with Kitty. He had not intended to take a bride but curiosity and possily the aching inside him, that he will definitely not admit to, pushes him to go with them. Kitty has been idealistic and has gone with her heart but it has not lead her anywhere nice or safe. She has had a child of of wedlock and the father is not a pleasant man. She is about to be seriously hurt by him when an angel bursts in and saves her. Well she thought he was an angel until she got to see him more clearly. He protected her, looked after her and her daughter, is gentle and kind and yet hides behind a very gruff manner. The more she learns of his upbringing the more she hopes that he can see this is not how it should be. Is she letting her heart take her into another bad decision or could this one be the best one she's ever made? I loved Drakkar. The bleakness of his species comes through, how he is even moderately sane after all that is beyond me. Kitty is just a love, you cannot help but want to be her friend. Not sure if these are not my favourite then again there is more to come. Yay!!
Drakkar is content living with his brothers in arms on the ranch. When two of his brothers decide to go to town and “pick” brides Drakkar is willing to help. He develops an anesthesia to use on the humans so they will sleep until they get them back to the ranch. Drakkar has no interest in a bride. His people don’t believe in life bonds and only come together for carefully arranged breedings. He goes along to supervise his brothers to make sure nothing goes wrong. Well, things go wrong for him! He sees a woman being assaulted in her apartment and he swoops in to rescue her. He doesn’t plan on taking her but he is unable to leave her there for some reason. He puts her to sleep to make the trip easier. When he is looking for some clothes to take with her he finds her newborn baby asleep in the other room. He is shocked but wraps the baby up and takes them both back to his caves.
When Kitty wakes up in the cave with Drakkar she is surprised, but is very grateful to Drakkar for rescuing her and bringing them to the cave to keep safe. Drakkar thinks she would be better at the ranch with Nelly, but there is a huge blizzard raging and they are stuck in the cave until it is over.
As Drakkar spends time with Kitty and the baby, he is becoming very attached. The same thing is happening to Kitty, but Drakkar fights the attraction. He knows his people don’t take brides but he can’t seem to resist Kitty. This is a great story of a second chance for Kitty and possibly a bride for Drakkar? Great addition to the series.
I knew from the beginning of the series that Drakkar would be one of my favorite H, and he is. I will give you some background for those who have not followed our brothers. After Artek finds his bride in the small town near their farm, the rest of his brothers start to crave the relationship that Artek has with his bride. After Nelly shares a story about a group of soldiers abducting their brides from a nearby town during a festival. Benjar and Endark start to think up a plan to steal brides from the town during the upcoming festival. They need a way to steal the brides without getting caught, and that’s where our H comes up. Drakkar does not want or need a bride; at least, that’s what he tells himself. His culture does not live in family units; they do not mate or have friendships like other races. Regardless he owns his fellow brothers to help them with their quest and ensure they do not get in trouble. While waiting for his brother to collect their brides, he finds himself looking into Kitty’s windows. When Kitty is attacked by her ex, Drakkar feels the need to intervene. I do not want to give any spoilers, but what I loved about Drakkar and Kitty’s story is their ability to overcome their past and look forward to a future together, for Drakkar to look beyond his upbringing and for Kitty to overcome her past experiences. Every brother in this series is different, everyone has different needs, and I loved how every bride complements those needs.
I have Read all of this authors books, and this one is delightful as well !! In this book , we get Drakkar's story. He is the winged medic of the group . He, along with two of his brothers have put plans into motion to get themselves brides. Except Drakkar doesn't need or want a bride. His culture are loners by nature. He didn't even meet his parents until he was old enough to be on his own. When he was weaned, he was sent to a creshe or a home for children , where he was raised . When he came of age, he got his own place , and after that went into the military where he meet his brothers at arms. His real family. So , he is really going in this adventure to watch his brothers back, in case of trouble. Kitty is a young lady on her own . She is not from this particular town , just ended up here. One thing led to another, and now she has had few options for employment in a town that is so archaic and old fashioned . She was alone , and not married, and easily taken advantage of ...... As Drakkar is watching over the town waiting for his brothers, he notices Kitty in the window. And when she needs someone to help her , he flies to her rescue !!! Both of these people were sweet and they each needed what the other could supply . I loved the way they came together, and how the story moves forward. And , as Always , I am excited to read the next book !!!!
thieving favorite in the series thus far 💖and I fell like that is saying something because I loved them all so far. Drakkarwas raised to be isolated and alone because his people tend to be aggressive and passive by nature. So he live in isolation but he's knows deep down that something is missing. He seen a few of his battle brothers call in love with this human mates and wish he to could have that. When he agrees to help the others find their brides he never for a minute believes her find his. Kitty was young and naive when a n older guy took advantage of her. Her mother through her out and that how she ended up living in this small backwards town. Once again she feel prey not a man who said he wanted to help her. It instead got her pregnant and treated her like crap. The night not that dance she's rescued by Drakkar when her ex tries to hurt her. Drakkar takes both Kitty and her daughter to his cave and he realizes this is the family he's always wanted and even though he feel he doesn't deserve them he wants them with all of his heart. This story was beautifully told two lonely souls with so much love to give find one another and end up rescuing eachother! Fabulous addition to the series I really loved it!💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥
We're back on Cresca with the next lonely alien and I AM HERE FOR IT! Yup, Drakkar, the serious, loner medic who distances himself from everyone is up. While he absolutely doesn't think he's cut out to have a female to call his own, he goes with Benjar and the others to keep an eye on them and get a feel for the human town.
GUESS WHAT! THINGS DO NOT GO AS DRAKKAR PLANNED! By that, I mean he steps in to protect a young mother and ends up taking both her and the baby back to his cave to keep her safe and wait out the blizzard. While years of tradition might say his people are too volatile to share their lives with another, Drakkar likes having Kitty and the baby in his home. But long-held beliefs are hard to break and Drakkar refuses to trap Kitty in a life she isn't interested in.
As for Kitty, she likes the big, winged alien. He not only saves her from a bad situation, he's gentlemanly and kind and pushes all her buttons in the best sort of way.
A cozy cave, a serious medic, a new mother who is doing her best, and a blizzard that gives them the chance to get to know one another. *thumbs up*
I loved Drakkar and Kitty’s alien-human, single mom, forced proximity, snowed in, healing romance. The story had a good balance of humor, heartwarming love, real life issues, big feels, and spice. Drakkar is a dragon warrior alien with medical training. His culture encourages isolationism. Despite this he chose to join a war and following the end of the war, he and his six brothers in arms purchased a sprawling ranch on the planet Cresca. Kitty is human who lives in the nearby town. She is also the unmarried single mom of baby Lola. She is shunned by the townspeople. When some of Drakkar’s brothers misconstrue a human story and go to town to find brides, Drakkar goes with them to keep them safe. While watching, he rescues Kitty from an assault and flies her and Lola away to his cave. A blizzard keeps them trapped together and allows them time to connect. I loved the way that they realize that despite there many vast differences, the things they needed were very similar. Despite being short, the story was well written, the characters had dimension, and the storyline was engaging. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the brothers’ love stories.
Another immediate orgasm the hot second a penis is inside her. Author has a thing for this. You do you, girl. Go, little rockstar.
This is the strongest in the series so far. I think the worldbuilding and series-long plot outline took up too much space in the others (just on account of how short these are), but this one has more of the wordcount going towards MCs overcoming internal and external obstacles to their relationship.
It felt like a story, without spending time teeing up the next one, and is better for that. At the same time, I'm reading Lisa Kleypas' The Ravenels series, and there's a lot of set up for the next one in each book, but there's stacks on stacks of space for it in those- they're ten times as long. I feel like Author hit her stride for this series with this one.
A short lusty sci-fi romance with a young heroine who has been taken advantage of by men in the past and a hero who was brought up thinking his species needs to live alone. The heroine, Kitty, was young and basically unprotected and ended up as an unwed mother. The hero, winged and coppery scaled alien medic Drakkar, is from a species that has decided to live in isolation from each other due to their aggressive impulses.
This one touches on themes of dubious consent. The heroine has relied on a male for a job and lodging and thus feels unable to repulse his advances. I didn't enjoy reading this heroine as much as I have some of the others. Also, towards the end the problem between the main couple before the HEA felt a bit contrived.
*****Spoiler Alert***** This Book Includes Violence. Reference to the heroine giving dubious consent / raped in past, near sexual assault stopped by throwing bad guy out window & breaking his leg, anger leading to accidental clawing of friend. Sex. MF sex, some role-playing, some anal play with finger, male cock with 2 tips that are mobile.
Kitty and her daughter Lola were trying t survive, Lola's father was a wretched man and while trying to force Kitty, was thwarted by Drakkar bursting through the window, and wall, and throwing him out said window. Drakkar had gone to town with his brothers, not to find a bride, but out of curiosity. Luckily he carried one of the canisters of sedative. He knew he had to protect Kitty so he used it on her. Then seeing her thin nightwear, he realized she would need more clothes. He went to her bedroom to collect some and a sound brought his claws out as he searched for the danger. He found Lola, newborn, eyes open and watching him. The adventure continues and it is a great one. So full of angst, connection, growth, Drakkar trying to still his mind from being overwhelmed by the rules he had been taught as a child, his driving need to take care of Kitty and Lola and Kitty learning how to care for Drakkar, plus love and a lot of steam. This is a wonderful addition to the series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
So much hidden sweetness! Drakkar was a surprise. He comes across all lone wolf grumpiness, but he has a secret hidden softy side. Kitty needs something more than she's ever gotten in life, and she is an emotional open book. Their names reflect their diametrically opposed differences too, which is always a nice subliminal mind nudge, lol. Where his name is gruff and abrupt, hers is soft and fluffy, independent. Even Lola's name is sweet and melodic, lol. I loved the way he jumped to her rescue and decided to keep her safe, and then how she didn't just give it up to him in the first ten pages, although there's absolutely nothing wrong with that either if it fits the narrative. The fact that Drakkar was the one laying on the brakes was what really sold me on this one! From the first page to the last, I was all in. It starts off with excitement and ends in true love with a lot of emotional growth thrown in in the middle, as well as a growing physical relationship, which made this story so perfect, in my opinion. I'm looking forward to future books in this series!
