This was good. It's definitely thrilling.
However, I really hate in books when a female main character is repeatedly described as a criminal mastermind who is cunning, sooo badass, and smart, but then every decision she makes is fucking idiotic. It was genuinely hard to read about Mili being so fucking stupid every other chapter.
I think the guys are OK, but I don't like them enough. Honestly, there were multiple times when Mili would have a gun to their heads, and I was just thinking, "fucking Mili, do it. pull the trigger" LOL not sure if you're supposed to feel that way about the male main characters for the entire book.

First of all, this is my first ARC & what a good way to start. Because holyyy shitttt.
Mili is a badass FMC. Which are my favorite kind of characters. She gives as good as shit gets. & girl can fight & race! 🥵 She is Saphire. A faceless person in the criminal world & shows her real face to Kade & Gray. Who she meets when she is trying to steal a car & they are also trying to steal the same car. She obviously gets it & 2 years later, she needs their help on a job. But... They don't trust her & she doesn't trust them. Then there is the fucking Mayor. The sexual tension with her & these 3 is nuts. As I reached the end of the book Kay Riley through in a plot twist that shocked me. Now I can't wait for the next book. 😩😂 I 100% recommend this book. They all have a back story & we find out a lot of it in this book, but I can't wait to find out the rest.

i can’t even remember how i stumbled upon this book, all i know is i started reading it at midnight and was having a hard time putting it down 🤣
mili was badass, which is my favorite type of character.
i love the enemies to lovers trope in this one because you could honestly feel the hostility between them.
kade 😏 i love how he acted unaffected but he was definitely more obsessed than he led to believe.
grey was fun too, because as serious as kade was i felt like he was a bit of relief (also the bedroom scene? WHEW)

I’m incredibly thankful to Kay for allowing me to be a member of her ARC team because honestly all my money would be spent on her books! I 10000% intend to buy paperbacks of all her series to add to my shelves because Kay has quickly become an auto buy author of mine!
Last month I read a lot of dark romance, this month I read a lot of fantasy, but I’m so glad I popped back into this dark romance duology in time to read the sequel! I was supposed to write this review straight after I finished Runner, before I started Endgame so I didn’t give any spoilers of book 2! Buttt guess who was so engrossed and was screaming at the cliff hanger that they immediately started Endgame… It was me! Hi! I’m the problem it’s me🤷♀️
I want to start off by saying how much I love Rylan, he’s so sweet and lovely, he genuinely cares for Mili and he is quickly becoming a top book boyfriend. Closely followed by my favourite possessive and demanding alpha male duo Gray and Kane, who are perfection *chefs kiss😍*. Milli says she regrets shooting Gray because and I quote: “it would have been an atrocity for the women in this world if you lost the use of your arm.” And now I want to experience his hands…😬 anyway the duo are perfect amounts sexy, demanding, so incredibly morally grey it’s actually closer to black oh and they kill for Mili. I meannnnn what more do we need in a group of men?!?!? I can’t wait to see how their relationship with Mili progresses in book 2 especially after the ending of Runner!
Mili is a proper boss as woman who is literally running the world and serving men when they deserve. I love that she has a jokey side that allows her to toy with the boys because it makes the sexual tension 10x better and honestly makes for some of my favourite parts of the book. I loved how we learnt all her secrets as the boys learnt them; being kept in the dark was so frustrating that I was trying to read faster so I could get answers faster😂
As always Kays writing was fantastic, I love her world building and the pace she sets. There’s always a lot going on, and a lot of characters; so there’s not chance to skim read if you want to make sure you don’t miss anything. There are several huge reveals towards the end of the book and while we currently haven’t directed them properly, I’m sure they’ll be revisited in book 2.
Ph I’m not sure if I mentioned, but this is a why choose series (scoreeee!🤩) and it has plenty of spice added at the most sexually tense times so it’s just 10000/10 on that front😅 as Runner is a dark romance it does include several topics some readers may find triggering, including: mentions of domestic abuse and child abuse, violence, murder and mentions of addiction, a full list of trigger warnings can be found of Kay’s website or through the link below:

Omfg. I could not put this book down. It’s 3:04 am., and I have work in the morning, but I seriously want to pick up the next book right now! The plot twists, the action, the suspense—ugh… so good! A story has not held me on the edge of my seat the way that this one did for a such a long time. More people need to be knowing about this book! Annd I have the biggest girl crush in Milina.

We got a lot of action with the plot, and several spicy scenes throughout! The romance was ok. It seemed to build, though the spice with the characters. Our FMC was a total badass built from overcoming her past trauma. Kay's writing was really easy to read and flowed nicely. This did jump time a lot throughout the story, and the back-and-forth power struggle between the characters did start to feel really repetitive by the time I made it to the end of the book.

4 ⭐️ 3.5 🌶️ 4🎙️ Talk about an emotional roller coaster… I went from anger to sadness to anger again to aweee to suspicion. I was definitely invested and very much entertained all the way through. I wanted to nut punch these guys by the end of the book but ohhh am I looking forward to the grovelling. I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes cars and dark romance. My thoughts are so all over the place I can’t even focus on this review I just need to jump into the next one.

I throughly enjoyed reading this book and think it deserves a lot more hype. The plot twists were a mixture of easily guessable and completely out of the blue. I loved the back and fourth between the three love interests and the fmc. Definitely recommend to my dark romance readers who are looking for a great why chose romance with lots of secrets and betrayal.

Ok…This was good. It was like Gone in 60 seconds meets the Mindfuck series. Talk about a strong bad b FMC. Reverse harems are sometimes hit or miss for me but this is on the hit side, it works. Pacing 👍 plot 👍 Ends on a cliffhanger so on to book 2

“I wanted to help put the rest of the monsters who’d hurt her in the fucking ground.” … This was EASILY 5⭐️ from beginning to end i was ENTERTAINED and COMPLETELY IMMERSED. Like, im trying to find the words to describe how good this was but, OMG.. Like, I knew from the prologue that I was going to be obsessed and I was the whole way through. It’s ENEMIES TO LOVERS, with a BADASS FMC, WHY CHOOSE & Our FMC Milina is a badass who has endured so much. 2 out of the 3 love interest initally don’t like/trust her because of what happens in the beginning.. not to mention the 3rd love interest is the Mayor who wants the other two love interests in prison and DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE PLOT TWIST… I was truly gagged by the guys LMAO. But, this book also has the one bed trope, car heists, a badass fmc, a revenge plot, touch her and ☠️, and the spice?!?! BABYYYYY THIS ATE DOWN! This was so good y’all, I’m obsessed fr. LET ME GO START BOOK 2 RN.

Thank you Kay Riley for the ALC for both books of the Sapphire Duet. I’ve seen so much about this duet forever and jumped at the chance to read and review it since I already had the duet. The audiobook and story started a little shaky but by the 35-40% mark, it was coming together. I haven’t had a true badass FMC I’m a while. While Mili had her moments she also didn’t take two shits from all the men that are in this criminal world she is in. So this is a why choose so that is known before you decide to read it because I know that it’s not for everyone. The plot was Donte well and kept me interested. I think I would have liked more character depth from everyone so I could have a real investment in the characters. But overall I have enjoyed this first book and while I thought several different points could have been the cliffhanger I still needed to pick up the second book immediately after finishing this one.

Wow! Mili is such a strong and fierce female character. She had a romance with three different guys. Kade and Gray are good friends and run their business together. The book is told from the perspectives of Millie, Kade, Gray, and Rylan. I was not expecting that plot twist. This book is filled with tension and romance. Great book, I enjoyed reading! Runner is an enemies to lovers dark romance. As soon as I picked up the book I couldn’t put it down. I finished reading in one day in two sittings. I can not wait for book two as the book ended on a cliffhanger! I recommend reading the content warnings and triggers on the authors website.

Me compraron los 3 plot twists del final, pq si no lo iba a considerar un fiasco.
FMC badass pero mucha habla poca acción, y me hartaban los MMC pq literalmente la zarandeaban como muñeca, excepto Rylan🎀✨️ hasta que bueno... Llegó el final y me di cuenta que no era tan "🎀✨️" JAJAJA
El mayor problema acá es la falta de comunicación. Lit hablando se solucionaba, pero todos querian mantener su aura misteriosa hasta que les explotó todo en la cara cuando se dieron cuenta que lo que les advertia Mili era más grande que ellos👍🏻

Where do I even begin!! Mili one of the best and most baddie FMC ever I love her. Not to mention our three HOT guys. This book is non-stop action some amazing chemistry and off the charts tension. Also holy mother of a plot twist didn’t see that coming by a long shot! If you love enemies to lovers, steam and spice and a book that will keep you glued to the pages then you need to grab Runner. That cliffy left me with my jaw on the floor and I am in need of book 2 asap!!

I missed the rollercoaster Kay’s books are. I needed this adrenaline rush.
The way the men would do anything for her is so cute. They’re this bad men and but they have a soft spot for her and it’s so cute to see.
She’s incredible. She’s gone through so much, but she fights. She never gives up, she’s incredibly strong, she’s stunning. My favorite part of the book for sure.
The twists and turns that were key to keep me on my toes. The steamy scenes? It just keeps getting better.

I think that this book was a slow burn. I liked the plot twist and cliffhanger in the end but it just took so long to get there. I understood the reason for building the relationship between the characters so that’s why I gave it 3 stars but I just wasn’t invested in the book until 300 pages when it started getting messy… I’m not sure if I’m going to continue to the next book or not but if I do I’m hoping it’s going to be a lot more action than the first one.

Plot: 3/5 • Smut: 3/5 ————-> this was a true enemies to lovers where the lovers never actually become real lovers. They just kind of circle back and forth between love and hate the entire book. Kade and Grayson against the world and add Mili to the mix and you have the trifecta. But wait, the mayor’s involved too? So, there are three men after her and her heart? Guess so. Ends on a major cliffy. Smut was good. 😍 No M|M 💔

What a ride! (pun intended) Mili is as fiery as they come, with quite the past and nothing but secrets. Did I mention trust issues? This girl was almost constantly opening up juuuuust a smidge to these men, and then slamming the door in their faces. I know it’s a why choose, but can I choose Gray??
Um and that ending- completely shocked. You did it, you got me.
This was my first Kay Riley book and I’ll certainly be back for part two of this duet, and more!

This is the first book I’ve read in like 3 weeks. I’ve been too busy to sit down and read. This was a perfect book to get into. I called some of the plot twists but a couple threw me for a loop

4.5⭐rounding up because I love the hell out of a badass FMC with the skills to back it up plus kept me hooked the whole ride

I love strong female main characters. So having her be a criminal mastermind who steals cars actually hit every box I have. The guys were ehhhhhhhh but still a good time.
