A wounded heroine. Mysterious murders. And a new baby on the way.
London, December 1915. It’s a wartime Christmas in London. In the night sky, Santa’s sleigh has been upstaged by Zeppelin bombers. On the ground, Becky and Flynn are investigating a military clinic for wounded soldiers, where mysterious deaths may indicate new dangers from a deadly experimental German poison. But Becky hasn’t yet recovered from her bullet wound, and Flynn is directly in the line of fire.
And nearby, in the zone targeted by the Zeppelin raiders, Lucy is expecting her new baby.
These favorite characters from the Sherlock and Lucy Baker Street team will need all their courage, strength, and intelligence if they are to survive and prevail. Fortunately, they have Mr. Holmes and Dr. Watson as their allies, and they have each other. But will that be enough?
A fast-paced and thrilling Sherlockian spin-off, with unexpected twists and turns, strong and memorable heroes, and a touch of romance. Watch and Ward stays faithful to the spirit of the beloved original series, while introducing more intriguing relationship dynamics.
Anna Elliott is an author of historical fiction and fantasy. She enjoys stories about strong women, and loves exploring the multitude of ways women can find their unique strengths. She was delighted to lend a hand with the Sherlock & Lucy series, and thrilled to continue a new spin-off series featuring Becky and Flynn. Her first series, the Twilight of Avalon trilogy, is a retelling of the Trystan & Isolde legend. She wrote her second series, The Pride & Prejudice Chronicles , chiefly to satisfy her own curiosity about what might have happened to Elizabeth Bennet, Mr. Darcy, and all the other wonderful cast of characters after the official end of Jane Austen’s classic work.
Another will written British 🏰 romantic family and friends relationship adventure thriller novel by Anna Elliott (The Becky and Flynn Mystery Series book 3). Becky and Flynn are in France where they meet Winston Churchill. He is working on a spy problem and wants Becky and Flynn too travel to England and go undercover. They travel to England and Becky is hired at the clinic believed to be part of the spy network. The lab is blown up. Becky and Flynn return to investigate. Flynn is wounded with poison and Becky and Sherlock race to find a cure. The cure is found and Flynn is recovering. The spy network is uncovered and arrested. I would highly recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of British 🏰 romantic Sherlock Holmes fans mystery novels 👍🔰. Enjoy the adventure of reading 👓 or listening 🎶 to Alexa as I do because of eye damage and health issues. 2023 👒😀😤
Becky and Flynn have grown up ☝ a very interesting series. Happy reading have fun
1915 Dr Becky Kelly and Major Flynn are sent from the Western Front to London. The activities of a Dr Wengerd, owner of a clinic for mentally wounded soldiers, have been deemed to be suspicious and in need of investigation. Will Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson be able to help them. An entertaining historical mystery with its very likeable main characters. Another good addition to this enjoyable series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
There is something notable about the longevity of Sherlock Holmes. Once resurrected from the dead by his creator, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the great detective has continued to this very day as an icon in the world of mysteries. In the Becky and Flynn Mystery series, he is not the protagonist, but he does play an important role in the lives of the title characters.
The first three books in the series, GUARDED GROUND, HIDDEN HARM, and the latest WATCH AND WARD take place, in 1915, during WWI. You would think that Holmes was now peacefully keeping bees and letting the youngsters take care of crime. Thanks to Anna Elliott, that is far from the truth. Apparently, being sharp witted, unemotional, and logical is good for one's health.
The mysteries presented to Becky and Flynn are war related crimes of espionage against Great Britain. The Holmes brothers, Sherlock and Mycroft, have always had their fingers in the pie of British national security. Holmes protégés have started to take up the reins as they track down members of a German spy ring.
Becky Kelly and Flynn have a long and colorful backstory that is told in the series A Sherlock Holmes and Lucy James Mystery which now encompasses thirty books. Now Becky is Dr. Kelly and Flynn is Major Flynn and each are doing what they can to support the war effort… Becky as a surgeon and Flynn as a soldier.
I've truly enjoyed reading all of these books by Anna Elliot and Charles Veley. They are a journey back in time that readers of all ages can enjoy.
Becky and Flynn are given a new espionage assignment by Sherlock Holmes and Winston Churchill. They are to go undercover to expose a nest of spies in the heart of London.
Becky fears for the safety of her family and her mentor Dr. Watson. During a zeppelin bombing of their neighborhood, her loved ones are threatened as the plot unfolds.
Anna Elliott seamlessly blends history with character development as the horrors of trench warfare affect soldiers and civilians alike. Her books build upon each other and leave the reader eager for the next installment. Sadly, we know that there are three years left in The War to End all Wars.
After their harrowing adventures in the battlefield, Flynn and Becky are called to return to England to follow up on the spies who they discovered in France. As usual they get into the thick of things and risk all to prevail. With the help of Sherlock of course as well as Lucy and her family. A n interesting take on a moment in history, and an enjoyable read.
I like to have Kindle and Audible so I can keep a story going. Audible for Watch and Ward is not yet available, but I read it all on Kindle, not wanting to wait. These books are so good. It's fun to see how the mystery works out, and there are always a surprise or two.
I enjoy the spin-off series of Becky and Flynn while still keeping the characters from the original series. Being a retired laboratory scientist the inclusion of medical details appeals to my interest in the story.
When I first read the description of this series of books about Sherlock Holmes and his daughter, I was intrigued. I have now read every book in the series! And now I am pre-ordering each book as soon as I get the notice. I think you will enjoy the expanding family Sherlock Holmes.!
Another great addition to an extraordinary exciting series. The stories are so true to the Sherlock Holmes character. The mysteries are fantastic and the extended family of characters are so fitted to the stories.
Another great book by Anna Elliott on the Becky and Flynn series. I hope that there is another one going to come sometime soon. I was glad how this book ended, but I also didn't see it ending with who the bad guys were.
Becky and Flynn are back in their old stomping grounds in London on a mission from Sherlock Holmes to discover if a certain medical clinic is really a haven for German spies. And all during the Christmas season.
Good story about a pair of minor characters in another fictional book series - Sherlock Holmes, both Becky and Flynn were part of the "Baker Street Irregulars" and are now successful adults in their own right, brought together by the tumultuous events of World War I. They are the two lead characters in this series, although Sherlock Holmes makes brief appearances throughout the series, but he is ever in the background, working to unravel a German spy network. Becky and Flynn are bound together by circumstances and their previous relationship in the "Irregulars", complicated by both events and their semi-recognized attraction for each other. each book in the series CAN be read as a stand-alone, but reading the entire series gives one a better appreciation of the political, military, social, and personal landscapes that the characters have to navigate.
