Good primer on Apologetics but could be better the answers to questions are too brief and concise. I recommend all of the Answers books or the How Do We Know The Bible is True books 1 and 2 by Ken Ham.

Talk Thru the New Testament (1983) by Bruce Wilkinson and Kenneth Boa is a practical guide designed to help readers navigate the complexities of the New Testament with ease. The book provides a concise yet thorough overview of each of the 27 books of the New Testament, breaking down their structure, themes, and key messages in a way that is accessible to both new and seasoned readers. Each chapter includes an introduction to the book’s author, historical context, purpose, and theological significance, along with a detailed outline and key verses. The authors also highlight how each book points to Christ, whether through prophecy, symbolism, or direct teaching, making it a valuable resource for understanding the New Testament’s cohesive narrative.

The book’s structure is straightforward, mirroring the organization of the New Testament itself. It begins with the Gospels, moves through the Acts of the Apostles, and then covers the Epistles and Revelation. Visual aids such as charts, maps, and timelines are strategically placed throughout to enhance comprehension. The appendix features additional tools, including a visual survey of the Bible’s overarching themes and timeline, which helps readers see the interconnectedness of the New Testament’s message. Overall, Talk Thru the New Testament serves as a user-friendly handbook for anyone seeking to grasp the essence of the New Testament without getting lost in dense theological debates.

For readers who are drawn to the Bible’s capacity to illuminate personal and spiritual growth, the book offers subtle invitations to reflect on the transformative power of its narratives. The journey from doubt to faith in the Gospels or the integration of diverse communities in the Epistles, for example, speaks to the human experience of becoming whole and connected. However, while it’s excellent for beginners, it may leave more experienced readers yearning for a deeper exploration of the Bible’s symbolic undercurrents (the timeless patterns that resonate across cultures and psyches). Its focus on clarity and practicality means it doesn’t fully plumb the depths of these narratives’ potential to stir the unconscious mind.

Bruce Wilkinson and Kenneth Boa are both well-respected figures in biblical scholarship and teaching. Wilkinson, known for his dynamic speaking style and leadership in Christian education, co-founded Walk Thru the Bible Ministries, which focuses on making Scripture accessible through seminars and resources. Boa, a prolific author and theologian, holds advanced degrees from Dallas Theological Seminary and Oxford, bringing a blend of academic rigor and practical insight to his work. Together, they published Talk Thru the New Testament in 1983, a time when interest in Bible study was growing among lay readers, particularly in evangelical circles. It quickly became a staple in Sunday schools, small group studies, and personal devotions, praised for its ability to simplify complex biblical concepts. Over the years, it has been reprinted and adapted into various formats, reflecting its enduring popularity. While it doesn’t overtly explore the psychological frameworks of its time, its emphasis on personal transformation and communal growth echoes the era’s focus on inner development and the search for meaning.

Talk Thru the New Testament is an excellent choice for lay readers who want a clear, practical guide to understanding the Bible’s message. It’s perfect for beginners or those overwhelmed by the Bible’s complexity, offering a structured, easy-to-follow overview that builds confidence in navigating Scripture. Its focus on personal application and spiritual growth makes it a great companion for those exploring how the Bible speaks to their own journeys of transformation and connection. The emphasis on growth and integration aligns subtly with the pursuit of wholeness, making it a valuable tool for reflection. It is highly recommended for anyone seeking a straightforward yet meaningful introduction to the Bible’s teachings.

Excellent little resource of biblical based answers to questions. The author keeps the answers brief by providing additional resources for further study.

One drawback is that there is no index so the reader has to look through the table of contents to find a particular topic.

As has been commented on, this book is written to provide short answers to Biblical questions. While I don't agree with some of the author's conclusions, that he bases upon scripture, I would hope that anyone reading it would use his answers to do their own research.

His interpretation of most of the answers are from a "Calvinistic" approach to scripture. While I also take that approach, I found some of his answers to be from "pop" theology point of view. Many of today's radio speakers take that approach.

Because of the great Biblical "illiteracy" in even the Christian community, mostly because many do not read the Bible but leave it on the coffee table, I would hope that any reader would use this book as a starting point in search of answers to Biblical questions.

I do not consider myself a theologian but I would not allow the short answers given in this book to be the 'last" word to Bible questions.

So many questions I have are covered. This book opened my eyes to what it means to follow Jesus the way The Bible intended us all to, with Scripture and Divine clarity.

The specific chapters are much too brief to properly deal with the topics discussed...not worth your time.

Can only be used to confirm existing opinions rather than arguing against opposite ones. Had enough with his First of all, Furthermore, and Finally.
