Rate this book
From USA Today bestselling author Debra Webb comes another heart-pounding thriller featuring investigator Finley O’Sullivan, this time taking on a cold case that could uncover new dangers.

Legal investigator Finley O’Sullivan has dealt with her share of shady characters, but the firm’s latest client has an even darker past than most. In fact, Nashville Metro Police seems to think he’s a murderer.

Finley isn’t so sure. Her investigation into Ray Johnson’s history focuses on the unsolved murder of a teenager who died seventeen years earlier. The case went cold, but questions remain. Months after the girl’s death, people close to her started disappearing—her mother first, then Ray’s brother. But why?

As Finley races to solve a decades-old murder, she uncovers new clues and long-buried secrets that could blow the case wide open. But whoever killed the girl all those years ago may still be a threat—and now the chase is on.

Debra Webb has written another gritty, edgy story in the life of Finley O'Sullivan, former assistant DA and now investigator for her godfather Jack, top notch defense attorney and close friend. Life is looking up for Finley as she is seeing above the mess her life had become after the murder of her husband and her brutal attack. She is with her best friend and attorney Matt, and they are very happy. A cold case defending a local bad guy that the firm takes on brings twists, turns, mystery, and ugliness that hits close to home with people involved in the action-packed suspenseful case. As the title indicates, lots of people are keeping little truths but Fin is good at her job and works to uncover them. Lots of surprises and new beginnings with tying up loose ends are woven into this new book with a positive ending.

This is the latest installment to the Finley O’Sullivan series that I discovered recently. I have quite a few of Webb’s books on my to-read list and I don’t know why it took me so long to actually read one. Webb is a good writer and storyteller. I will definitely be reading more of her work.

First, I want to point out an error in the book summary; the death of Lucy Cagle was 13yrs ago not 17yrs. Yeah, I know, a minor error but it’s still an error. Inaccurate book summaries are kind of a pet peeve of mine. They are basically written by the publisher, which GR just pulls from their website so I don’t fault writers or GR for inaccurate book summaries. That’s the publisher’s responsibility.

Anyway, the book summary lays out the premise for the primary storyline so I’m not going to repeat it here. What the book summary doesn’t mention is that Ray Johnson is the oldest son of the local mob boss. Ray is the smart and ruthless son while his younger brother, Ian, was the sweet, kind of stupid %^&)-up son, who was favored by mob daddy. The book summary also doesn’t mention the death of Lucy’s father a month after her death and the day before the disappearance of Lucy’s mother, Louise (aka Lou). Lou was an investigative journalist writing a story on human trafficking at the time of her disappearance.

There is also a secondary storyline about Carson Dempsey, who is still under house arrest, passport revoked and accounts frozen, and awaiting trial, and who has someone following Finley and is probably still trying to kill her. This storyline is a carry-over from the first two installments, thus not making this installment not a good standalone. You really need to read the series from the beginning. There is a mention of why there is this war between Finley and Dempsey, but one or two sentences DO NOT even touch on the extent of their hatred for each other. There is sooo much more going on in that feud.

There is another secondary storyline where Finley’s neighbor, Helen, suffers a heart attack and Finley finds her. Afterwards, she visits Helen in the hospital and takes care of her dog, Spot. In doing so, she begins to find Helen’s living situation a little confusing. At this point, I too am finding something suspicious about Helen. Throughout the series, Helen has been the stereotypical nosy, busybody, neighbor and, at this point, something about her becomes a little more suspicious, at least to me.

Most of the story revolves around Finley investigating the 13yr old cold case as well as the new evidence that was discovered. When she starts interviewing the same people that were interviewed 13yrs ago, they start revealing new info. Finley is suspicious of all the new info; it all seems so “convenient” almost like someone is creating and planting all of it. At this point, I’m pretty clueless. Well into the second half, Webb reveals a major twist! DID NOT SEE THAT ONE COMING!!! Love when an author can do that to me! The ending was very satisfying and I look forward to the next installment.

The title was very fitting. There were so many little truths out there from different sources that once Finley discovered them and put them together, everything fell into place. I want to thank NetGalley and Thomas Mercer for sending me this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

All The Little Truths is the third book in the Finley O’Sullivan series by American author, Debra Webb. Thirteen years ago in early October, Lucy Cagle was sure she was getting the lowdown on a winning story. Instead, she was garrotted, and her murder is still unsolved. Now, her handbag has turned up at a construction site belonging to the notorious Johnson family, and police want a DNA sample from Ray Johnson. He goes to Jack Finnegan for legal representation, and Jack’s very capable investigator, Finley O’Sullivan has to find the truth.

Thirteen years ago, mere days after Lucy’s murder, Ray’s younger brother Ian went missing, but no links could be found to Lucy. Thirteen years ago, grieving the loss of her daughter, and then, shortly after, her husband to a heart attack, renowned investigative journalist Louise Scott disappeared. Are they in hiding? Are they dead?

While she expects, given his background, Ray Johnson’s evasiveness and dishonesty, as Fin interviews people who knew Lucy, including her friends, a PI, a newspaper editor, and others, she is dismayed to realise that three people she has always trusted implicitly are lying to her about something.

Was the handbag planted and, if so, by whom and why? More than one interviewee suggests that someone has an agenda that involves her personally. She’s getting a bit distracted by the need to decide if she will run for District Attorney, her neighbour opposite landing in hospital with a heart attack, and a stalker who may be in the pay of the man responsible for her husband’s murder, so she’s pleased to have the support of her friend-now-partner, Matthew Quinn, and the help of Detective Eric Houser.

Webb gives the reader a cleverly plotted tale with red herrings and diversions from any clues to the superb twist that is revealed just before an exciting climax (or two). While there are spoilers for earlier books, this one can easily stand alone, and more of this cast will be most welcome. Brilliant crime fiction.

This book was intense. Despite not having read the previous books, I felt well-informed about past events. This was my first book by Debra Webb, and it definitely won't be my last.

Thirteen years after a murder case, new evidence emerges, leading to its reopening. Finley, an investigator working for her godfather Jack's law firm, is known for her exceptional skills and toughness. The book takes an interesting turn as Finley embarks on a desperate and sometimes reckless journey to uncover the truth behind the unsolved murder of a teenager thirteen years ago, and the dangerous criminals involved. The story had me on the edge of my seat in some sections, while in others, it was somewhat predictable. However, the good news is that by the end of the book, all the loose ends are tied up, and we finally get the answers we've been waiting for.

I really enjoyed it. Lots of suspense, action, twists and turns, surprises and resolutions. I am hoping that there will be another story for Finley.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Debra Webb, and Thomas Mercer for my eARC. All opinions are my own.

Big thanks to both Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of All the Little Truths, by Debra Webb.

Expected publication November 7, 2023.

All the Little Truths is another heart-pounding, suspenseful book, featuring investigator Finley O'Sullivan. This time around, she's taking on a cold case that could uncover new dangers. As Finley races to solve a decade-old murder, she uncovers new clues and long-buried secrets. But whoever killed the girl all those years ago may still be a threat. Now the chase is on ... and it might blow more than the case wide open!!

Here we go with another case filled with tension and endless danger! I love Fin - and Matt, of course!!! What a great series. I have a feeling we may see more of Finley, et al ... at least I hope so.

Wow guys! This was a pleasant surprise. I'm not gonna lie, I have a Debra Webb book on the shelf (huge TBR pile) that I haven't read yet. I admit I most certainly should have and will get to soon.

Finley O'Sullivan is a lead investigator for her friend, Jack. Jack is a defense attorney who represents the bad guys. Finley's job is to find the truth, not the innocent. Ray Johnson, who's family has been known for crimes of trafficking, drugs, and all the bad stuff is the number one suspect. Jack is representing him and wants Finley to do the investigating. The crime? He is suspected of killing a teenage girl seventeen years earlier. Her case has been cold.

Finley is one tough cookie. She's hard headed, strong willed and will fight for her life to get to the truth! I loved her character! This is third book in the series, but can be read as a stand-alone. This has lots of action, witty moments and definitely tense suspense. I especially enjoyed the character development that drawls you in to these people. I felt connected. I most definitely will read her again!

I would like to thank NetGalley, Debra Webb and Thomas Mercer for my advanced copy for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the eARC.
This last in the Finley O'Sullivan series was a bit disappointing to me, contrary to most of the stellar reviews. The constant way we were told about Matt being perfect was OTT as was the history of her husband's death, etc.
The cold case was interesting and the ending quite a surprise.
The talk about her political future was confusing, I don't really know much about the American process as I'm not originally from here. But the one thing that niggled at me was the fact poor Spot, the little dog, seemed to be left alone for long periods, I felt sorry for her.

Debra Webb returns with a bang with the third installment of the Finley O’Sullivan series. Webb is quickly becoming one of my favorite go-to authors. Finley is back helping her “Uncle” Jack represent a former acquaintance’s son. The son, Ray Johnson, Jr., is a sleazy man, with dirty hands and she is not happy to be helping with the case.

This story was everything you want a good mystery to be: full of action, missing people, bad guys, even family can’t be trusted! I heard this is the last installment and it seems so because things felt very wrapped up at the end. I truly hope not because Finley’s character has so much more room to grow, and she has a lot more crimes to solve.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I gave it four stars and highly recommend it.

(2.75) I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.

All the Little Truths was a strange read for me. This is the last book in a series I haven't read but I felt more or less up to date on everything that happened in the prior books because of how often this one tended to rehash them to remind the reader what had happened to them. As someone who hadn't read the other books, I found this helpful but strange choice (even in mystery fiction that most times has a jump in anywhere kind of style). If I had read all the books I likely would've been irritated by this.

I felt like I was being told a lot more than I was shown. About people's reputations and character in particular.

However once the story reached it's stride it was good, there were twists I didn't see coming. Sometimes I thought I knew what was going on but then the result was a pivot from what I'd been led to believe. It was satisfying to watch subplots weave their way into the main story, and contribute to the big revels.

Unfortunately, what killed it for me was the ending, after the conclusion of the mystery. There was a couple of wrap up chapters that seemed like they were tying up a laundry list of loose ends and what ultimately ended up being an almost *too* neat Hallmark style ending.

WOWZA!

What a story. I could not put this down. And may I say how cool it was to have my name used for such a prominent character in the book. So much fun.

I loved the twists and subterfuge in this book. At one point no one was telling the truth. And I also love how determined Finley is. She is such a great character.

The author packed a lot into this book. My head was spinning at the end.

This series has been another home run for Debra Webb! She is a master storyteller.

Finley O’Sullivan is a kick butt and take no prisoners private investigator and lawyer. She wants all the truth, but first she has to methodically weed through the lies. She’s my favorite character in the series because she is damaged but refuses to be broken, vulnerable but not weak, intelligent and intuitive. In the latest Finley novel by Debra Webb, Finley has to try to solve a cold case of a murder and a disappearance that are over a decade old. Lucy Cagle was an intrepid high school student, determined to investigate a crime syndicate and expose the bad guys just like her famous reporter mom did. But Lucy was killed and her murderer was never found. At the same time, Ian Johnson, a younger son in the Johnson crime family, disappeared, never to be seen again. Now it is up to Finley to find out if the two events are related and if so, how since she is helping her employer Jack investigate Ray Johnson for an impending case against him. There are a lot of very satisfying twists in this novel that had me wondering just where the story was going and how it was going to get there. But author Debra Webb never disappoints in weaving a tale that is complicated and that stimulates my imagination as it keeps me mesmerized in the story and the characters. Each character contributed to the story and none was more evident than Finley’s unassuming and kind-hearted father who apparently knew something about Lucy that he wasn’t sharing. I loved the dynamics of the characters and how Finley had to prod and poke at them to get to the truth. This is a book with breath-stopping suspense and sharp, addictive writing that kept me reading and guessing all the way to the end. With well-crafted and cleverly written twists, this book is absolutely brilliant and one of the best suspense books that I have ever read! With a compelling and multi-layered mystery, this novel had me intrigued, only willing to put the book down once I had reached the satisfying conclusion.

Thank you to Debra Webb for a copy of this book! This book is #3 in a series and I read it as a standalone. All The Little Truths is book 3 in the Finley O'Sullivan series by Debra Webb. I'll warn you now that this book is very hard to put down so plan accordingly! Finley is working as an investigator for her godfather, Jack. Jack is a top defense attorney and Finley trusts him. After all that Finley has been through with the loss of her husband, friends injured, and her own injuries she is just trying to feel good about life again. Finley is living with Matt, her best friend. They have become way more than friends this past year and they are very happy.

Jacks's firm takes on a local "bad" guy as a client relating to a cold case from years ago. The case was a murder of a young woman in college. She was investigating child trafficking for her thesis and was getting help from someone very close to Finley. Finley had no idea and as new details come to light this case hits very close to home. Meanwhile, Finley is being followed and harassed by someone and the person is getting more dangerous as time goes by. Is this person related to their current case or is it related to her husband's murder? Dempsey, the man who murdered her husband is awaiting trial. Finley thinks he is the one behind this.

As more details come out relating to the cold case, Finley realizes people close to her are lying and covering something up. Why are they lying to her? Will Finley be able to solve the case and help their new client before someone close to her dies? Finley wants to keep Matt safe and is terrified something will happen to him with the threats against her getting worse. Will Finley survive? Will she be able to keep Matt and her family safe? This book will keep you on edge throughout! The suspense builds and builds until you just can't put the book down. I absolutely loved All The Little Truths by Debra Webb. The character of Finley O'Sullivan is one of the best in fiction and I hope there will be many more books in the series. I rate All The Little Truths 5 stars with my highest recommendation. The book is available now so what are you waiting for? I'd like to thank NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for an advanced copy of All The Little Truths in exchange for a fair review. #AllTheLittleTruths

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for allowing me to read an ARC of this book. Expected publication: 07/11/2023.

Another brilliant thriller from Debra Webb. This is the third installment featuring legal investigator Finley O'Sullivan. A strong female mc who has overcome her personal trauma in order to move forwards and get justice for the murder of her husband.

The firm has been hired by a client, Ray Johnson, with a checkered past. Although Finley has dealt with her share of shady characters this client seems to be much worse, so much so that the Nashville police are trying to pin a murder on him.

Defending her client involves Finley trying to solve a decade old cold murder case. The murder of a teenager closely followed by the disappearance of Ray's brother and then the girls mother seems too big of a coincidence to not be linked and it is upto Finley to connect the dots.

Finley is racing against the clock to solve the case....while someone is working on making sure the secrets remain buried no matter the cost.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a heart-pounding thriller.

This book kept me awake because I had to see how it would end. I enjoyed reading all the storylines that are entwined in one in this third installment of the Finley O’Sullivan series. The twists and turns that I didn't expect were well placed in the story and the end was pretty satisfying for me. Since the story is about finding out little truths to solve the case, the title of the book is very well thought out. Can't wait to read the next installment of the series and the other books written by Debra Webb.

This was my first book by this author and she did not disappoint!

The story starts with a thirteen year old murder case being reopened because of new evidence.

Finley is the investigator appointed and all the little truths she finds along the way will keep you on the edge of your seat!

I loved that I did not have to read the two previous books to understand what was happening in this one, but now that I read this one I wished I read the first two books first!

This was a quick and easy read and keeps you guessing right up till the end!

4.0 stars. So many secrets! It's book 3, and a shady character seeks Jack's law firm in representing him after new evidence is found in an old murder case. Legal Investigator Finley O'Sullivan's investigation unravels so many threads. I thought I'd need to start taking notes to keep track of all the characters and which direction they were leading Finley. It's evident they're all hiding something.

There are so many clues here, but how they fit together is one complex puzzle. Then there are the continuing side stories running throughout of Finley's possible run for County DA, and her past with the Dempsey family still chasing after her.

The end is a satisfying conclusion and a much deserved bright future ahead for Finley. Enjoyed this series. Looking forward to whatever this author comes up with next.

This book was edge of your seat in some sections, and in others it seemed you knew what was coming next. Several of the big twists - including the mom of the deceased’s identity were obvious. Other twists not so much!
I didn’t understand why the inclusion of the storyline with the “stalker” - it didn’t really add anything for me to the story. Similarly, the groundskeepers storyline was fine, but it seemed he was then left out at the end.
The main characters were likeable though, and not having read the others in this series I think they would carry over well from book to book

I'm not sure if it is because I hadn't read the prior 2 books in the series but I was not a fan of this book at all! I don't think that is the case though considering the details of the previous books were constantly being brought up in this book. I felt boring and predictable and I struggled through most of the story. I only truly liked the story when it got to the last probably 75% of the book. I considered DNFing because the story was not much of a thriller to me.

2.5 star rating, thanks to Netgalley for a free copy in exchange for my honest review.

A Cold Case Heats Up

Thirteen years ago, Lucy Cagle envisioned being an investigative reporter like her mother. She had made friends with a young man, and tonight, she would get the whole story of his family. She will learn all their secrets that had stayed hidden for decades. For her, nothing else mattered. When they sat in his car, instead of starting the car, he turned and stared at her. He said he was sorry. She felt a garrot tighten and cut off her air. The novel jumps to the present day when a handbag with Lucy Cagle’s driver’s license and four cigarette butts are discovered in a warehouse formally owned by the Sullivan family. The police want Ray Sullivan’s DNA for comparison. He is not worried about a positive match; he is afraid it might connect him to one of his youthful indiscretions. Ray Sullivan’s father asks Jack Finnegan, a lawyer who owes the father a favor, to stop the police collection of his son’s DNA. From this start, a long-hidden mystery is solved.

The protagonist is Finley O’Sullivan, who is an investigator for Jack Finnegan. The main storyline opens with O’Sullivan’s investigation to determine who killed Lucy Cagle. Ray Johnson states that he did not kill the girl. If O’Sullivan can find who the murderer is, that would negate the need for the DNA test. Many obstacles hinder O’Sullivan’s investigation. Soon after the murder, the younger brother of Ray Sullivan and Lucy Cagle’s mother go missing. The younger brother was at the top of the suspect list in the original investigation. A connection between Lucy Cagle and O’Sullivan’s father was also discovered. The biggest obstacle is that no one appears to be telling the truth or the whole truth. It took a little bit, but my interest was captured and maintained to the end.

Two threads provide information on Finley O’Sullivan’s character cross into the main storyline. The first is that she was a prosecutor who had a meltdown in court after a defendant attacked her and killed her husband. Her license was suspended. She wants to challenge the current district attorney in the upcoming election. The second thread is O’Sullivan’s helping her neighbor who suffers a heart attack. She lives alone with her dog, who needs to be fed and walked. O’Sullivan visits her daily. Her relationship with her parents and live-in boyfriend provides a solid insight into her character. This aspect of the novel enhanced my reading enjoyment of this novel.

The aspects of a novel that can cause some readers to stop reading are present in this novel. The characters use rude language much more than vulgar language. There is a much more significant amount of impious language. There are no intimate scenes. Except for the first chapter, most violence is less edgy after the fact than as it occurs. This novel is the third in the series. I have not read them and did not feel that there were holes in the storyline from not having read them.

I did not find anything that rubbed me the wrong way. I did enjoy that what I thought were background threads turned into main storyline threads. There were not any loose ends at the end of the novel. Lastly, I was happy with the ending. Two years ago, I read one previous novel by this author. I have purchased two more from that series. Based on my experience with these two novels, I have placed Debra Webb in my Will-Read category. I enjoyed reading this novel. If you like this genre, I do recommend reading this novel. I rate it with four stars.

I received a free prepublication e-book version of this novel through NetGalley from Thomas & Mercer. My review is based solely on my own reading experience of this book. Thank you, Thomas & Mercer, for the opportunity to read and review this novel early.

Spoken by Finley’s number one fan (not), she truly has nine lives.
All The Little Truths is book three to the Finley O’Sullivan series by Debra Webb. As I picked this one up I realized I didn’t remember specifics about books one or two. While every books focuses on a new crime that Finley and her trusted partner, Jack, intend to solve, the plot line that carried throughout all of the books in this series is about Finley and the murder of her husband. It is an overwhelming amount of characters and plots throughout all three books, which some have rated low for, but for me, this series just clicked.
I think if you binged the series it would be much easier to follow. Or, if you read others in between each installment, made notes in your phone to reference when you start the second book, and then the third. It would make it much easier to follow in my opinion.

Ray Johnson seeks Finley and Jack to represent him and his “old man”, Ray Sr. after a cold case resurfaces with new evidence ~discovered~ in the Johnson’s warehouse. The Johnson family is clearly very dirty and gets away with everything with so many resources and power (money).
From the get go, I really enjoyed that this book got to the meat of the story from page one. I mean you read the murder happening and you know very small but very important pieces of evidence form chapter one that you hold onto to build with Finley.
I read this is less than 24 hours because I could truly not put it down! I was overall really pleased with the plot twist in All The Little Truths, I truly didn’t expect it. The end made me hopefully for how really happy and solid Finley’s future was. If you read from book one you’ll know how Finley truly went through it all. I think this is the last book? But maybe we’ll be pleasantly surprised with an additional book with Finley as the new DA? I can only hope so!

Thanks to NetGalley, Debra Webb and Thomas & Mercer publishing for this eARC! Publishing November 21, 2023!

All the Little Truths is the third book in the Finley O'Sullivan series. I have read each one in the series and have been thoroughly entertained. Each one can be a stand-alone read but you will be so disappointed if you don't read them all in order.

Finley is working with her “Uncle” Jack as he represents Ray Johnson. Ray like his father does not have the best reputation and runs his family's business like a mob boss. Ray hasn't been accused of a crime yet. But after evidence was found in one of his buildings that could incriminate him for an unsolved crime, he hires Jack to represent him and find the truth of what happened and while they are at it, if they could find his missing brother who disappeared about the same time as the victim of the cold case, for his father before he dies, that would be a big help also.

Finley does what she does best. She investigates and gets to the bottom of things that most people overlook. She has the ability to make people tell her things that most investigators lack. As she digs into the cold case, she notices she is being followed, which leaves her to believe someone doesn't want the truth to be found or her former nemesis is up to his old tricks again.

This was a fantastic riveting addition to the series. I love the writing as it draws you into the story from the very first few pages, I hope that there are many more books to come in the series.

I received an ARC from NetGalley for an unbiased review.

All The Little Truths. Well I didn’t expect that coming at the end. I am a big Christmas celebrator and I may have just had to cry at that point in the hallway. Well anyway the writer took me on a ride of my life. It was almost like who’s on first? Who’s on second? It was that many people and then some who played the suspect part in a cold case that no one wanted to resurface. Finley was excellent with her skill sets from her glory days of being a DA, but it was Jack and a couple of old partners from the earlier days in crime fighting that dropped crumbs for Finley to find her quarry. I loved the nice touch with cat and dog. They gave Finley the stability of actually creating a home for her and Matt. I loved the fast pace mystery and the almost sleuth like investigator skills of Finley. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!

A few years ago I read my first book by Debra Webb, Frozen Ground, part of a winter series. I enjoyed it very much. In fact, maybe as well as the Finley O’Sullivan series. With this third in that series, I find myself really happy for Finley, as her life seems to be settling down. This particular story involves many twists and turns. Some a bit more surprising than others, but all important and tied into events really well. I especially loved the characters this book, Mrs. Roberts, Finley’s father, Jack and even the bad guys. All have a great place in the storyline. I have noticed that the Finley series books lag a bit toward the middle. It seems the story takes a beat and then picks back up. Still a good read. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC and the chance to offer my thoughts.

Loved this story.

I read this as a standalone even though it is the third in the series. I didn't feel like I missed too much since I have read the first book. This author keeps you engaged from start to finish, and her characters are well written to the point that I feel like I am watching their lives unfold first hand as if I'm there with them. Finley O'Sullivan is a great main character and a bad ass investigator! She is working on a cold case that involves a local guy which leads to some dangerous situations unfolding like her being followed. Finley has been through a lot, including her husband's murder so she is really trying to get her life back to normal, but life is never just "normal" for Finley and she has a lot to work through to get to that point while keeping herself and those she cares about safe.

Overall I really enjoyed this fast paced heart-pounding edge of your seat thriller! Thank you Netgalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this book!
