I was hoping for more description of Jane's ballet career and less xenophobia and casual racism, as these small-towners move to NYC and encounter, like, ITALIAN IMMIGRANTS OMG. There are plenty of conflicts set up and then... all of them just go away on their own. No one has to do anything. Life works out. Nice for the characters but not very interesting for the reader.
