This will certainly get a beginner started ... painting loads of crap. Most of the donstrated pieces are sketches, at best, and don't work well, with poor use of value and color and composition.
If you haven't taken an art class in years, start with strong theory first. Go read Watercolor Painting by Tom Hoffman.
