The 35th annual edition of Uncle John’s compendium features entertaining, informative, and amusing real-life stories from around the world.
This 35th anniversary edition of Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader is bursting with everything you could possibly want to read in the throne room, including short articles for a quick trip and lengthier page-turners for an extended visit. Uncle John and his team at the Bathroom Readers’ Institute have once again gathered the most entertaining and amusing stories from the realms of pop culture, history, science, and sports (not to mention accounts of even more dumb crooks!) for your reading pleasure. In addition, there are plenty of laugh-out-loud lists, amusing quotes, and odd factoids that will delight the most ardent of trivia fans.
I want to dog-ear so many articles and show them to others. This was another great collection of stories. So many I want to re-read. Here’s Johnny-electric chairs-obituaries—famous firsts-famous lasts—word origins.
I love to read trivia and this book was no disappointment. I even learned the names of the 3 monkeys that are : hear no evil, speak no evil and see no evil. They really have names. Who knew? I will have to read a second time through just to make sure I didn't miss anything. It literally is jammed full of interesting tidbits. Keep going Uncle John.
These books help me do Jeopardy in ways that stun and amaze my family. They are huge fun and they have very humorous stories that can get you a seat to yourself on the bus/streetcar/subway or train because of your hysterical laughter. This is very useful. Also, it keeps people from trying to solicit you for money, Jesus, that sort of thing. These books are also good for rereading many times over.
I love these books! I love trivia! I get a new one every year for Christmas. I have been a fan since I first found these in December 2007. Not a year has gone by since where I haven't bought at least one. By the 35th anniversary, you're either on board or not. It's more of the same fabulous tidbits as the others.
This might be #35 or #36 depending on who's numbering system you use
I think they closed down the Bathroom Reader's Institute HQ in 2016 and something like two years later retired, but Uncle John let's someone else carry on, and he just writes the introductions now
The title says it all. I don't know how many Uncle John's I have read, but I know I love these books. This book like the other will amaze you, make you laugh, and shake your head going what the heck. For the trivia fan I can't think of a better book to read or gift.
The usual interesting fare from Uncle John of history, trivia, culture, science, politics, humor, etc. My favorite part, as always, are the little one-line factoids at the bottom of every page.
