Charlie and Lizzie find a home for a Huskie where he can learn to pull a sled.
Charlie's read-aloud-at-bedtime selection. Cute and short and sweet.

I think that Bear was a great book. Bear gets piled with snow and nobody knows where Bear is. Everybody is worried and is looking for him. Also, Lizzie knows that Bear would be a great Dog-sled dog. She ended up being correct.

Lizzie, her parents, her older brother Charlie and her little brother Bean are going to Vermont for vacation. When they get to the bed and breakfast where they are staying they meet Bear a Husky puppy who has been left there so that the B&B owners can take care of him since his previous owner thinks he doesn't have what it takes to be a sled dog. Lizzie's family goes cross country skying and Lizzie finds it very hard and falls down often, but then one of the owners comes up and says Bear is lost. Lizzie goes back with the owner to look and meets up with Fern (a neighbor girl) and they search using snow shoes. Lizzie finally has the idea that the puppy must be under a snow drift that appears to have fallen off the roof and when they look they find Bear who is unhurt. The next day she gets her parents permission to skip cross country skiing and instead she walks Bear and comes across Fern who is at the head of a dog sled. Fern offers to take Lizzie on a dog sled ride and Lizzie loves it. The next day she comes by Fern's house. She tries to convince Fern or her father to take Bear but they figure the previous owner must have known what he was talking about regarding Bear not being a good sled dog, but eventually Fern decides to test Bear to see how well he should do as a sled dog. He passes all the tests and her father agrees to let Fern keep Bear as long as takes care of it. Meanwhile, Lizzie's family comes by and they all get to take rides on the dog sleds. Ends with a dinner, seeing the northern lights and all the dogs howling.

Lizzie and her younger brother, Charles, are in elementary school. The Peterson family have a puppy named Buddy plus they foster dogs and help them find homes.
The Petersons heads to Vermont on vacation to enjoy the snow. They stay at a lodge run by a couple of sisters who are fostering a husky puppy named Bear. The puppy's owner has headed off to Alaska to run in a dogsled race ... he feels Bear is too lazy and unmotivated to be a sled dog so has asked the sisters to find him a home. Lizzie gets attached to Bear and is determined to prove the owner wrong.

Though this book is a quick read and directed at elementary-aged children, I found it entertaining. There is a learning experience and a puppy tip at the end. It is written in third person perspective and first person from Bear's point of view. It is the fifteenth in the Puppy Place series, which currently has 64 books in the series, and works as a stand alone.

This is a great winter book so far. lizzy does not like skiing so she gets to go on dog sleds and she always carrys bear.bear is a racing dog but to slow so lizzys family is fostering

Bear looked tired and lazy at first but later on, you could tell that Bear was meant to be a husky.

Lizzie and her family head to Vermont for a cross-country skiing vacation. They stay in a bed-and-breakfast, where the two sisters are caring for a husky puppy named Bear. Lizzie falls in love with Bear and makes a good friend in Fern, a neighboring girl who is a dog musher. Lizzie tries to convince Fern and her father to adopt Bear into their family.

The book mentions Susan Butcher, the famous female Iditarod. I know her cousin, Amy Butcher, a female athlete in her right. It's great when you find books where girls are pursueing their passions and their passions are different from the average.

This book is written at a 2.4 reading level. This series should appeal to both boys and girls (but especially girls) who love animals.

My favorite part was when Bear was finally rescued from the snow and found safe. The worst part was when Bear got lost and no one could find him anywhere and they thought he went wandering onto the road. My favorite character was Fern because she wanted to adopt Bear. There was no worst character. This book took place in Vermont, at the Harris House. The characters were Fern, Lizzie,

A cute book. I appreciated how it described the differences between Alaskan and Siberian huskies. Wrapped up a little too easily, as usual. I wouldn't even say they spend enough time with the dog to really be considered foster parents.

This is the first ever chapter book I've completed in Spanish. I could actually understand (for the most part) what I was reading. It was a cute little book about founding a home for a husky pup and since its a children's book, there aren't any plot twists or anything interesting. It was exactly what you'd expect for a 3rd grade reading book.
