Really enjoyed this biography, written by one of Jacob DeShazer's college professors. DeShazer is one of my historical heroes and it's incredible to see how God used him.
Favorite line: "The Heavenly Father did not mock this spiritually starved lonely American boy. The light finally broke, and DeShazer knew -- that salvation was his." Beautiful 🥹
this is a short book and is easy to read, but the true story of this Doolittle Raider, his capture, imprisonment, salvation and call to return to Japan and share the gospel message is very powerful. I am sure I read at least part of it as a young adult, but it was a powerful weekend read as I have been contemplating a life of living by faith.
The riveting biography of Jacob Deshazer, a WWII vet who was a POW of the Japanese during WWII and who returned to Japan after the war as a missionary. An amazing story of grace.
Incredible story (the experiences of Deshazer), poorly written. For a similar story by a fascinating writer, read "Unbroken." This book makes a boring read out of great source material.
