There's a typo on the first line of the 8th page, but it's surely intentionally there to make sure you don't move too fast through these 21 clear-as-crystal-canyon pages. So not to give a single gaping poignancy away, all I'll say is that everyone should click through this while softly humming a happy reworked version of that old Palace song, "Mountain": "If I could f*ck a CAVE, well I would f*ck a CAVE, and I'd do it with MATTHEW (f*cking) SIMMONS."
I appreciate the original premise, but something about this cave-dating story seemed kind of standard, kind of unmagical. I don't really know how to write reviews that explain why something didn't impress me, but this didn't and I don't know why. I always feel weird giving less-than-positive reviews to small press writers, especially when they are unspecific, because I know they'll probably read them at some point. But yeah, I don't know. This didn't connect for me, really.
Page 9: Man playing a CD burned for his date, inside of his cavedate (presumably at a fire he has lit, also inside of his cavedate), listening to the subtle twists that his date gives to the songs that he likes the most (in contrast to the popular songs, outside of the cave, that he feels nothing for).
This is obviously a real--or at least an emotionally honest--story of Matthew Simmons and what his life is like. It is beautiful and unpredictable. It is the best e-book thing in the world and everyone should read it, even if they hate it.
