A vampire killer with a Las Vegas beat, Candace Steele has risked everything to vanquish the forces of darkness-and to resist her own passionate desire for Ash, a dark and seductive vampire. But suddenly the stakes are raised. Candace has been attacked by a member of the Board, an ancient, powerful, and secret vampire sect with a vendetta against Ash. Now the only way she can save her life is to give herself to Ash-body and soul-and become a vampire.
Lusting for blood and starving for Ash's embrace, Candace is pulled deeper and deeper into his world. She no longer trusts his promise that she will not have to remain a vampire forever. And as the hunger threatens to overwhelm her, it may be too late for her to leave the darkness behind.
Cameron Dean enjoyed a successful career as an actress in regional repertory theater before turning her hand to writing. She is also the author of Passionate Thirst and Luscious Craving. Cameron lives with her husband and assorted felines in Seattle.
I enjoyed the first two books of this series, but this third book of the series was very disappointing. The author made a big change to our heroine, Candace Steele, and that I could deal with though I wasn’t expecting it, especially right off the bat. So she's now a vampire despite being adamant that she would never chose that path for herself. The next thing you know there is a lot more sex than in the previous books. I don’t mind sex scenes, but I feel there sometimes needs to be a limit unless the writer is in the erotica genre. Candice and Ash would be in the middle of an argument and then suddenly start having sex like it was a cure all for their problems. The original mystery plot seem to be taking a back seat to the vampire sex . On top of this, Candice has become needy and clingy. Not at all living up to her nick name, Nerves, as in Nerves of Steel. It began to feel as if the author was following in the footsteps of another UF author I once used to like. I was still hopeful though thinking...Okay, she hasn’t taken it to multiple partners yet. Oops…spoke too soon. Page 179, Dean went completely LKH on me. *sigh* And look, 20 pages later...more sex.
When the author finally did get around to finishing the mystery portion of the book, it was rushed in the last 50 (if even that many) pages of the book. And to top it off, Candace doesn’t even get her happy ever after. Glad this was the last of the series. I would not be continuing with it even if it weren’t though.

THis is the first from the trilogy that I have read. A bit out of order but, seems to me it doesn't matter according to other reviews. Well, where do I begin. Candace is turned into an almost vampire. Yes, almost meaning she can still go back to her human form. We find out towards the end of the book how. Ash is the vampire who absolutely loves her unconditionally. Thats the story. Really. There really wasn't much to write. This book literally made me want to throw it against a wall. I hated just hated the ending. All of a sudden, all is right in the world at the end. Whaaaat? Will not, absolutely, will not read the first two other books in this trilogy.
A relative saved this book and a bunch of others from going to the trash. They all seem to be in the middle of the series. I am reading through them anyway.
This book is ok. I haven't read the previous books in this series. I don't like or care about the characters enough to add any of the other books to my list. I'm not curious about what happens next.
The book is ok. It's not awful like some of the reviews indicate.
I had a love hate relationship with this series. I thought it was a good smooth read but I have to agree with the others the ending sucked. I kept wondering why the main charater kept playing the I love you but can't live with you roll. She really frustrated me..

I loved how the book was written! The adventure behind it was amazing! The only thing that I didn't like was the ending, but I'll leave that to you to read.
i didn't like at all this book...it really screwed up the whole story...it was really disappointing reading the end and left me with a feeling "why did i read this book???"
Why did I read these books? Why did a waste a whole weekend on them? I just don't know but maybe I can save someone else from making the same mistake. These books are awful and pointless!
I enjoyed the first two books of the series, but the third book was very disappointing. Stupid ass ending, wish I never even started this trilogy. Don't read this crap.
Not as bad as the reviews lead me to believe. The characters were interesting, motivations were valid, the sex was good, and the ending was fine. A lot of readers did not like that Ash dies at the end: but they did not read very well- the ritual that was completed was for immortality- and all the participants vanish or burn up, so....probably not “dead”. obviously it was set up to continue the series. But it hasn’t yet

I just couldn't get into it. Was one of those stories where I wished I knew that this wasn't the first book within the series, because there was a lot of context that I couldn't wrap my head around. Books like this need to indicate how the order in the series goes.
Ok so it took me ages to read all three of these books because right from the getgo I just didn't like vampire hunter, Candace Steele or Vamp Man Ash. They both seem very 'cookie cutter'. The coolest thing was when Candace would put a silver hair barrette in a vamp's eye and swoosh they died. The 2nd book was slightly better than the first, as it had a tolerable plot line. The third installment, just hurt to read. The first thing that bothered me is that there was NO kind of recap whatsoever on what happened previously. I don't need pages, but give me a paragraph or two. Candace immediately turns, goes to an auction and an orgy (I had no idea she was going to be another Anita Blake- with no sexual discretion at all), watches the one half way decent character in the series kick the bucket, and then the ending. Wow. You have to give Dean credit for having nerve here. I personally was so over the series, I kind of thought the ending was mildly funny. Candance really ended up in a place she almost deserved to be...Nevertheless this doesn't make up for the fact that this series and this book in particular, is highly unsatisfying and there are tons of books out there more worthy of your valuable reading time.
ok...i'm a gal who thoroughly enjoys a tasty vampire novel. this trilogy continued on with great potential. but let me tell you - it's a spoiler - so stop reading if you intend to read at all - Ash DIES in the end. Build up a great vampire to have him killed in the end? I do not approve. One thing i grow quite tired of is the human female choosing the more sensible human male over the gorgeous, sexy, angsty vampire. in what world would that actually happen? honestly? and i'm supposed to believe ms. steele is finding contentment and peace after her vampire love dies? whatever...good story throughout...lame. ass. ending.
This book was horrible. The main character was completely different than in the first books, not the same person from beginning on. the beginning was unbelievable, the middle boring. The climax was great... and then the climax ended and the ending came into play and I finished the book literally saying "wow. that's stupid." I thought that the series could have been so much better, but this book really made it seem like the author just kind of... got sick of writing the series and just did it to close things off. there was a chapter of true inspiration and the rest of the book was all just eh, let's get it over with type of attitude.
Again, this final book in this trilogy is just as bad as the first two. This time Candice is about to become a vampire because she was attacked, but has not truly formed. She is saved by her true love vampire Ash, who between them both have so much sex, but nothing more in common, and even then the chemistry is not there. Ash at times could have been interesting, but over all he is another dud in this story. The ending with him will have fans, if there are any shocked.
The story just limps along and again the writing is so simple and very cliche.
ive liked the first to of this trilogy, and i liked this one the writeing was good and everything, but the ending was horrible. it ruined the entire trilogy and thats really sad because it was a great read. im not saying it had to be a happily ever after ending for me to be happy but the way it was ended just made the entire series plot line sad.
I would have given this book more stars if I didn't feel so mixed about the ending. This series was well written with very interesting characters. I love the fact that the heroine and the hero's love story was so complex. It made me look forward to seeing what would happening next. I guess in the end the sacrifice the hero made for the heroine confirmed his feeling for her.
This started out really well just like the previous 2 books but it didn't end how I hoped it would and left me a little upset with the author because of how it ended. I don't want to spoil the plot so I'll just leave it there. I don't think there is another book so I'm dissapointed. 3/5
