Short summary of the life of Millard Fillmore, thirteenth President of the US, who served in office for about three years (after the death of Zachary Taylor). Fillmore is known as the last Whig president. It is written for children in middle grades. I particularly like the inclusion of a timeline that contains the major events in Fillmore’s life. Fillmore played a role in getting the Compromise of 1850, which he thought would prevent civil war, but only delayed it for a decade. I knew very little about Fillmore and this book provided the basics in an easily digestible manner.

Another solid and informative book in this series on the U.S. Presidents. It is often surprising to me the wonderful little facts that are mentioned in this book that get overlooked in similar larger books .
