This volume features sold out issues of the most talked about 'Spawn' story arc in years. Finally after all these years, the war Al Simmons was created to fight is here, but which side will he choose? Spawn #156-164.
Todd McFarlane is a Canadian comic book artist, writer, toy manufacturer/designer, and media entrepreneur who is best known as the creator of the epic occult fantasy series Spawn.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, McFarlane became a comic book superstar due to his work on Marvel Comics' Spider-Man franchise. In 1992, he helped form Image Comics, pulling the occult anti-hero character Spawn from his high school portfolio and updating him for the 1990s. Spawn was one of America's most popular heroes in the 1990's and encouraged a trend in creator-owned comic book properties.
In recent years, McFarlane has illustrated comic books less often, focusing on entrepreneurial efforts, such as McFarlane Toys and Todd McFarlane Entertainment, a film and animation studio.
In September, 2006, it was announced that McFarlane will be the Art Director of the newly formed 38 Studios, formerly Green Monster Games, founded by Curt Schilling.
McFarlane used to be co-owner of National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers but sold his shares to Daryl Katz. He's also a high-profile collector of history-making baseballs.
After such a mediocre part 1, I really wasn’t prepared for such a supremely awesome part 2!!
This was bad ass af. Best Spawn story arc I’ve read up to this point.
Spawn gets a massive power upgrade and ends up battling both Satan and God. This is such a unique take on biblical fiction. It’s definitely not for the religious, as blasphemy abounds.
Philip Tan (who signed my copy) kills it here. It’s really something else, and you have to see it to believe it. Flawless. The detail is overwhelming, the character designs (especially the four horsemen) is insane, and the action is very kinetic and fluid.
This rules. It’s a whole other level from the bland and mediocre early Spawn stories. The entire title has been elevated. I give it a full recommendation.
So many revelations! I love it! The previous volume was a snore-fest, but this one is spectacular. It offers a kind of ending to the saga begun in issue #1. It was such a cool ride.
A bit all over the place but I liked how it ended (given the fact that it pulled the classic everything was done for no reason because we're back were we started basically, I'm being real generous here.. mainly because of this artwork).
