This picture book is a party 🎉 With its colorful pages, fun illustration, and exuberant text, it creates some fun energy. Especially recommend for dog lovers.
If you are looking for a fun read-aloud for your lower elementary classroom or need a fun interactive read with your kids, BOOP! is it! My husband will be reading it at our library storytime (he’s the mayor of our town) and I’m sure the kids will love it.
A Boop! is a friendly tap on a dog’s nose. You tap the dog’s snoot (the black tip on its face) with your finger and that’s called a Boop! When you do that, the dog’s tail will swish and sway and soon all the dogs will want you to Boop! their snoot.
With all kinds of fun ways to interact, some counting, lots of exclamations, and overall silliness, kids will love this read-aloud. All kinds of dogs. are featured in this book and kids may even find a dog they recognize in this story. I appreciated the author’s disclaimer at the beginning of the book that if a dog isn’t yours or one you are familiar with to be sure to check with an adult before you Boop a snoot!
The pages are full of colors and adorable dogs. The words on the pages are colorful, and of various sizes, and move around the pages to keep the reading exciting. Be prepared for all kinds of giggles at the end of this one.
Sorry this one was EVEN CUTER than Boop the Snoot by Ashlyn Anstee, even though the premise is the same. I loved all the cutie doggos and the rhyming text.
As a long-time dog owner, I find this book over-the-top for its audience of very little kids. They shouldn't be encouraged to poke their fingers at a dog's nose!
You get to boop the snoots! It worked well in the family storytime where everyone helped boop the snoot (in the air). If you had a smaller storytime, you could have a different child come up to boop the different snoots. It could probably work okay in a baby storytime, where adults boop babies tummies or noses too.
5 stars. So much fun! An interactive story encouraging readers to boop the snoot of each and every adorable canine. Some rhyming text bounces the story along to the final boop - your own snoot! Be sure to check it the case cover art. Perfect book to accompany the Puppy Bowl 2024!
is a fun book all about dogs. It invites the reader to BOOP! them on the nose which I'll admit was a little random of a request, but the book is so cute and the puppies are so endearing that it just feels fun. I also love the pages that encourage you to look a little closer at the illustrations. This is a great one for toddlers or young preschoolers.
I love a good interactive picture book and I love dogs. This was the best of both!! Kids will have a lot of fun booping the noses of the dogs. I also appreciate the note from the author about making sure to ask before touching a real dog.
Boop! is a fun read aloud for kids who love dogs (and who doesn't?). A dog's snoot is his nose, and everyone knows, "Snoots need boops," a gentle tap that lets the dog know you're their pal. There are snoots everywhere that need boops!
Illustrations of small dogs, big dogs, dog park dogs, even fancy dogs will keep kids laughing at the dogs' antics. The fun text will make littles giggle. Who wants a boop?
Highly recommended for any home that loves pets and those who wish they had a snoot to boop.
Read aloud by one of my favorite people at a book PD, it's the silliest and most fun readaloud to do because everyone loves to boop snoots whether you're a dog person or not. So there is an interactivity to booping them on the page and booping yourself or others (watch out for personal space!) but it's the best kind of children's book and showcases all of the coolest dogs (of course, my dog takes the cake).
This is really cute and I think kids will love it. I have mixed feeling about it though. I wouldn't read it with really little kids only ones who would understand this is a joke like maybe 6 and up. Tiny kids might get confused and try to Boop a real dog's Snoop. That's what gets kids bit and turns dogs into biters so I think it would only be appropriate for kids who are old enough to understand that this is just for fun not something you would ever do in real life.
A fun picture book for the young to the young at heart! I love the "disclaimer" at the beginning of the book stating, "Dear Booper, All the dogs in this book want you to boop their snoots! Before you touch a "real" dog, always ask your big people and the dog's big people if it's okay." -B. B. Such an important message to let readers know.
I also loved that there were many different kinds of dogs including a different abled dog with a wheelchair.
Boop! I am a children's librarian in training, and I am currently taking INFO 5421 Literature For Youth In Public Libraries. I had to pick a Texas 2×2 book and when I saw this one I knew I had to read it. This book is effortlessly charming, and I appreciated that at the beginning, it reminded children to always ask a dog's owners permission before giving them a boop on their snoot. Highly recommend this book to parents, aunts, and uncles.
This was such a fun, interactive book! Children are encouraged to boop the snoots of all the different dogs found on the pages. That's it! Just booping snoots. There is a lovely word of warning at the beginning that not all pups (or people for that matter) may want to have their snoots booped. So be sure to ask before spontaneous booping!
A Boop! is a friendly tap on a dog’s nose (called a snoot in the book). This of course, makes the dog's tail wag. There's a nice disclaimer on the title page about making sure to check with your big person and the dog's big person before you "boop!" a real dog's "snoot."
Tons of opportunities to laugh and interact, this is great for story time!
Shout out to M & Abi for reading this to everyone at work via story time presentation.
This is perfect to read with your kiddos or a group of kiddos. The illustrations are very, very cute, the story is very simple and fun for young readers, it’s interactive to the max, and perfect for every young dog lover.
Super cute, interactive picture book. Totally engaging and loveable, especially for dog lovers who know how to respect a dog's personal space. I'm glad there's a disclaimer at the front of the story. Maybe it would have been nice to include a dog who does not except the BOOP to show that we need to be respectful of others' personal space.
So many dog snoots to boop! Fluffy, sitting, bearded, standing--listeners are invited to gently tap the noses throughout the book, ending with a self-boop. A lovely lapsit book but may get too chaotic as an interactive storytime readaloud.
An interactive book about booping a snoot! (Ok, does the book Boop the Snoot fulfill this already?) Anyways, this book is very cute. I really like the illustration style - the dogs are very cute. And the noses are big enough for booping.
This is such a cute and interactive book! My 4 year old niece loved booping all the dogs in the book. Great for fans of Press Here and Don't Push the Button.
Favorite quote: "You are a booper extraordinaire! The boopiest booper with booping flair!"
A cute interactive book that's great for your dog loving kiddos. I think it would work best as a one-on-one read and would be harder to adapt for a group story time. Recommended ages are 4-8, but I'd say you could read it to a 3 year old too.
This one's just for fun! The dogs are cute, and it's fun for a little one--I'd recommend 2 or 3--to engage with each pup. Birdsong does have a note at the end, reminding readers to always ask a pet parent before touching a real-life dog.
