Monsters lurk in the shadows of Hel. But there is one monster–more villainous than the rest. And his sights are set on her.
Persephone Dunn has barely lived. She’s done everything right, kept her head down, and fallen into the vicious cycle of a mundane life. Deep down, she desires more from her dull life–but after her father’s death; she struggles to see the light anymore in this dark world.
One horrifying night will change everything.
A fateful encounter gives Persephone the out she had been looking for–the sweetness of death’s icy grip. However, it’s hard to pretend to fear for your life when an ancient vampire now has access to the depths of your mind. A powerful bond between predator and prey has her questioning everything and how an undead monster could know more about her than even herself. But are his intentions as simple as his bloodlust… or do his villainous tendencies have a different meaning behind them?
I liked this for what it was. Not a masterpiece but an easy read. The character building wasn't great and it lost me when the best friend character did a complete Jeckyl/Hyde
A vampire stalks and seduces a human woman over to the dark side while a witchy monster-hunter cult tries in vain to save her; at the vanguard of this doomed rescue effort is her friendzoned but implacably hopeful monster hunter BFF. He fails, but not before proving the old adage true once again: in a romance novel, there are only two types of men—dudes you wanna bang, and rapists. Unbelievably the vampire MMC saves her from not one but two attempts from different perpetrators. *slides token onto sheet* Hey, if the FMC turns out to have secret powers no one knows about, then that’s bingo for me!
Honestly no, the characterization for me ain’t it. None of these people act like real people. The FMC’s choice not to tell BFF the truth made the situation way more complicated and desperate when he did actually find out, and the BFF’s choice to strip FMC of her autonomy time and time again in order to “save” her from this vampire made him an awful, irredeemable person. Much as we mock them, Dain or Tamlin would NEVER.
I am in love with this story! This dark vampire romance lived up to its full potential and then some. It is very fast-paced and keeps you wanting more the entire way through. There is very little background in the the beginning and you are just plunged into the story, but the information is later woven in wonderfully throughout. I had a chance to be a beta reader on this book and loved it even then. After reading the finished product, I was blown away. There is some spice later in the story which works perfectly as the tension is built up between Persephone and Sebastian rather than being the main plot. The plot itself is great and takes turn after turn. My only issue with it was the amount of errors in spelling or grammar throughout the book which may slow you down (I just started fixing them with a pen) if that is something that bothers you. I highly, highly recommend! It is definitely worth the read and it goes by fast. I am waiting as patiently as I can for the next one. :)
TW for this book: self-harm, and slight suicide tendencies. Although I read this book in one sitting, I'm a bit torn over it. I love the enemies-to-lovers bit in it, it really works. But because the start felt so sloppy and rushed, I'm feeling a bit meh about it. Yet, the story did grab me. Sebastian's behaviour was quickly becoming odd for someone who was adamant on killing his victim. He just didn't, much to the confusion of Persephone, and delight for us as readers. And slowly, the feeling began to creep in that Jamie and his family weren't really what they said they were. They have a happy ending for now, but it's clear this isn't the end of the story.
This is a dark vampire book with Vampire Hunters so it is gory and violent. This book kept me wanting more and waiting for the 2nd book to come out. Sebastian is a vampire and Persephone is a human taken in by him and now bonded to him. Her best friend, Jaimie, is a vampire hunter and trying to save her.
This is a good enemies to lovers vampire romance. I enjoyed the push and pull between the love interests and the added conflict of her best friend and his family being vampire hunters. There were a few twists and turns, and the ending left me wanting more. They are happy for now, but you can tell there will be more to the story.
Let me just start off by saying it’s really hard for me to get into Supernatural books, they really have to hook me in. That being said the first chapter had me HOOKED!
Can I just say that I eat this book up, I’m still currently reading it (76%) but GAWD I really hope the author puts out a second book because I need more of ✨Sebastian and Persephone ✨
If you like enemies to lovers, vampires, twist and turns throughout then you'll enjoy the ride. It will have you guessing who's the real villian. What a page turner! I was hooked from the first sentence. Ends on a tiny cliffhanger and can't wait for the next book of the series.
Oh my God! This was soooo good. I can't wait to see what is gonna happen in the next book. The moment I fell in love with Sebastian 😍 "Be careful, little kitty, if even a single drop of your blood is spilt, I will not hesitate to kill every single one of those hunters"
I feel like this book has the potential to be amazing, but it was missing something. I was also hoping for better spicy scenes with all the build up. I would be willing to read the second one, the plot is there and has the makings to be great!
I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down. I wish I could read the next book right now. You fall in love with the characters and you feel for them
This is a good book it is fast paced so you would finish it in a day. The smut is a bit slow paced in the beginning. I hated one character but you’re supposed to. But I recommend
This book was great. It had me riveted from the beginning. The only reason I didn't give it 5stars is that towards the end of the book there were quite a few typos in it that drew me out of the story I was so gripped to
Absolutely loved this book! Was hooked from the very beginning and couldn't put it down. There were twists and turns and ups and downs. Everything you could want from a book.
