Plus-sized Grace Kinison lives a dull life. She's a teacher and aspiring author who does nothing but work and then write on her novel. That is, until she becomes a cyber submissive.
Grace has agreed to help her childhood friend's husband plan her surprise birthday party. Grace thinks her fellow party planner, Toffer Shelley, is a writer on a TV show. What she doesn't know is that he's the show's sexy star, Drake Dawson. He's a Dom, and he wants to work his magic on her.
When Grace runs into trouble at work, her cyber relationship turns into the real thing after she travels to Hollywood to meet Toffer. She's thrilled to be meeting her Master, until she realizes that he's the most gorgeous man in Hollywood.
But Toffer won't let Grace judge him by his looks. He takes her on a sexual journey full of bondage and submission, which give her strength to overcome challenges in her own work.
"Graceful Mischief"
It's their third Halloween together, and Toffer and Grace are in England. They're staying in an old castle complete with a moat and a maze. Grace thinks her Master is taking her to a fancy restaurant in London so they can be alone together on Halloween. Hidden underneath her beautiful new dress is the sexy corset her Master bought in London a few days earlier.
The trick is on Grace, though, when her Master takes her to the maze and tells her to strip down to her corset. A costume party is going on just hundreds of feet away, and Toffer plans on giving Grace a head start, then hunting her through the maze. If he catches her, she's awarded the trick, and he gets to have his way with her in the maze. There's always the chance that anyone could walk up and see Grace being topped. If she makes it to the middle without him catching her, she gets the treat: dinner and dessert.
Only Toffer's not playing fair -- the treat's also a trick. But with what he has in mind, even if Grace loses, she wins.
"Publisher's Note: This book is a nontraditional love story that contains sexual content that may be offensive to some readers: Anal sex; strong BDSM theme and content (bondage, domination/submission, spanking, punishment); and multiple partners"
Melinda Barron loves to explore Egyptian tombs and temples, discover Mayan ruins, play in castles towers, and explore new cities and countries. She generally does it all from the comfort of her home by opening a book.
Melinda loves to lose herself between the pages of a book. The only thing she loves more is creating stories from the wonderful heroes and heroines that haunt her dreams and crowd her head. She believes love is for everyone, not just those who are a size 2. Her books are full of magic, suspense and love, in all sorts of shapes and sizes.
Mel currently lives in the Texas Panhandle, with two cats, and a file stuffed with new ideas to keep her typing fingers busy, and your heart engaged.
I am going to keep this review short... why... because the book is only 170 pages.... So, I don't want to give to much away... and by reading the blurb, you get the gest of what the book is about. But I am here to tell you that this book is absolutely wonderful!!! I loved this book. I read this book in two nights (only because I started it late one night and finished it the next). I know we talk about BDSM and our feelings about books that contain them, but this is an awesome book about submission and dominating. First, the two characters, Grace and Toffer are just to damn lovable. Grace, because she is the normal, average side, maybe a little heavier size woman. She is a teacher by day and a writer by night. She loves teaching, but she can't stand her soon to be boss. He is the creep of all creeps. He is trying to get Grace in his bed... and if she does not comply... then he will have her job. Toffer, a mutli-billionaire, gorgeous actor, can get any woman he wants... but that is his problem... he doesn't want just some woman. He wants one woman. But he wants to have this woman: stock, lock and barrel. Is Grace that woman, can Grace be that woman?? Their trip down Dom/Sub... is a very erotic ride. But at the same time, a very trust building relationship. Besides the Dom/Sub going on and the erotic factor, this book has a plot and a very good one... Hell, I was even cheering for them!
If your hussy is in need of a good purrrrrr... this is the book to let it purr. The sex scenes are amazing, they are not vulgar or in bad taste, you know I would tell you. This is my first book by Ms. Melinda and I can promise you, it won't be my last!
If you want to walk in the baby pool (so to speak) of erotic, maybe even BDSM, dom/sub... this REALLY is the book for you. If you want romance, this book will provide that as well. If you want the "creep gets what he deserves," you will get that too!!! This book really has it all!!! I hope you will give it a try.... I am sure glad I did!!!!
Then as a treat, Graceful Mischief is in the back of this book... so you are getting two books... Now I am onto Loose ID to buy the third book... Undercover Submission.
Now, I have to give credit where credit is due.... Book Junkie is where I found this little jem of a book. She did a book review and I fell in love... This is her review of this book. Please go and read her's --->>> Here!!

I hope you enjoyed this review because I enjoyed reading this one...!! Hussy----satisfaction!!!! =)
I read this book ages ago when I discovered Melinda Barron on a list with "Rubenesque" books and I binged on her books but never listed them. Years later I've rediscovered this little gem :-D
Although hard to believe that something like this story could happen, it's still a nice fantasy. And why not, why restrict it to something believable? When I daydream that I'm going to win the lottery (even when I never buy lottery tickets) I dream not of winning 30.000€, but more like hundreds of millions, a big time fantasy, same as this book. But what I enjoyed the most was Grace's truly graceful submission, how she dives in without reserve into the exploration of her fantasies, it takes guts and an open mind. Their chemistry is super hot, and again, much appreciated that the heroine abandons herself into a new world without reservations. Loved the kinky bits. The heroine is 39 years old and the hero is 43 I think. The story has a dual pov and third person narrative.
This is recommended for readers who want romance and kink, nothing heavy but delicious enough.
I didn't dislike the main character but her "oh noes, I'm 20 pounds overweight and most of said weight is in my Double D boobs" problems made me roll my eyes and kill off any of the buzz I might have from the book.
Also, her lover was way too perfect: falls in love with her on the internet, is a filthy rich, hot and popular movie star, and chooses her over the supermodels fawning all over her. Also, he's perfect, kind, understanding, and falls in love with her (and proposes) in a matter of days upon meeting her.
Not to say that some beautiful people can't be like that, but he was way too perfect to be credible and in the end, this book ended up being nothing more than a wishful fanfiction from the author.

Spoiler Ahead This was a pretty good book. Grace Kinison lives a dull life. She’s a teacher and aspiring author, who does nothing but work, and then write on her novel. That is until she becomes a cyber submissive. Grace has agreed to help her childhood friend’s husband plan her surprise birthday party. Grace thinks her fellow party planner, Toffer Shelley, is a writer on a TV show. What she doesn’t know is that he’s the show’s sexy star Drake Dawson. He’s a Dom and he wants to work his magic on her. During this time Grace tells Toffer of what has been happening with her life at her job. Grace believes that Toffer is a writer on the same series as her friends never dreaming he is the sexy leading man. When she has trouble at her school Grace goes to Los Angeles for the party early but Grace learns that her cyber Dom is everything and nothing like she expected. Toffer is determined to have Grace see him as Toffer not the TV star Drake, and he takes Grace on a sexual journey of discovery which adds to her self-confidence. This was a good D/s story with hot sex scenes. This was my first time reading this author and this is the first book in a new series to me. This book was well written with no errors in grammar of spelling I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I read this little jem in one evening. It kept my undivided attention. The pace was appropriate and the content complete at the end of the novella. Now, I have to be honest. I'm a little leary of ordering books that specifically say BDSM in the blurb because I've read too many that are cheesy and unreal. I know a "little" about this area. *wink wink* I don't like to read books that make the BDSM element about whips and ties, humiliation and blindfolds just for the sake of sex. When it's all boiled down, the act of D/s isn't really about the sex at all. This book was a beautiful example of a healthy, sexy D/s relationship. The woman is full-figured, which many sub's are, and she's determined to be brave. I really liked Toffer's character. He was sweet and always inquired about her day before they ever started playing. There was a world of trust built between the two characters and I enjoyed reading that. The book is mainly these two characters, Lolly and Master. I liked how she called him Master and not her master. It really put me in the pages. This author was great at making a full-figured gal feel wanted and sexy. I love when Giselle, the super-model, got dissed twice by Toffer! It was priceless. I recommend this read to anyone who enjoys loving D/s play and wants to feel good when he/she closes a book.
Highschool English Teacher Grace Kinison moonlights in the evening as a writer, hoping that one day her work will be published and she can leave her job to write full time. Grace has always been plus-sized, but she prides herself in not letting herself not succumb to other peoples judgments. When she receives an IM from Toffer Shelley who she is supposed to work with to help plan her best friends surprise party, she is caught off guard by his playful manner that has a hint of a teasing undertone.
Toffer is really television hearthrob Drake Dawson, but talking through chat to Grace she is not seeing the star she is giving herself completely to submitting to him and letting him guide her through every fantasy she has as her Dom. Toffer knows he should tell Grace who he really is, but he knows they will see one another soon he just hopes it does not backfire on him.
I really liked this story, I was a bit unsure based on the description but a couple pages in was pulled in. There was a hint of naughtiness to Toffer who even though he is a Dom, does have a vulnerability that Melinda Barron beautiful taps into in this story.
Toffer aka Drake aka Christopher hehehe yes all one person loved him and Grace as well. The story/ plot for me was good. Toffee and grace started messaging each other and the relationship started from there. The only thing I will say and this is my opinion I didn't like that it took so long for them to physically see each other most of the communication as I said was through messaging and calling put they were still inventive with the sex though, with me saying that don't let that turn you off. If you like the sub/Dom sex with some romance then this is for you

This was a quick little erotic book that packed a nice punch. The romance was nice the story was well done and it was nice and steamy. Toffer or "Drake", was yummy. He made a great Dom and was super hot. Grace was a perfect submissive fulfilling her desires after a failed marriage left her wanting something more.
Concerns I had were that it went a little fast. It could have been more detailed. The relationship build was rushed. They went quickly into a physical relationship and jumped head first emotionally. I'm not sure how realistic that is. Especially with Grace being divorced. There were a few elements that kept it from being a five star book. I liked it, I just didn't love it. I didn't feel a lot of emotion when reading it, other than turned on (and there is nothing wrong with that if it's what your looking for at the time). It was a nice quick erotic read.
I surprisingly really enjoyed this one and the I adored the characters. Grace is a teacher and Toffer is a hot Hollywood star. They meet online planning a mutual friends surprise birthday party, but find that they have a bit more in common than they at first realized. This book isn't heavy into BDSM elements, but is more about the connection between the characters exploring the possibilities between them and establishing trust. Definitely give this one a read. :)
The relationship seemed so contrived, there was no build-up to it at all, almost as if she would have gladly submitted to the first person who offered, rather than because she trusted him and found him worthy of her submission. The characters lacked chemistry and the writing seemed to be to be lacklustre.
This is a good story with an interesting twist – school teacher Grace is a novice at BDSM, while Toffer is an honest and serious dominant – and a famous movie star who hides his dominant activities. They begin their relationship on-line, and then in person after some problems at her school in Boulder, CO and the need to be at a friend’s party in LA causes her to fly out to spend time with Toffer, and get to know him better – and learn more about BDSM. The development of their relationship is interesting and graphic, and both characters are intelligent and behave in a logical matter. The side story about her problem at the school is also interesting and resolves itself logically. My only disappointment with the book was the epilogue, which introduced an unnecessary event that I thought detracted from the relationship they had. There was so much that I liked about this book. I liked that neither character was how you would expect them to be upon first glance. Grace, because she's confident in who she is. Toffer in that he doesn't care about what society says he should value. I found the characters were more than just cookie cutter, giving the story some nice emotion and depth. The only thing that I didn't particularly like was the Epilogue. I generally like it when an epilogue rounds up the story, an extra step of conclusion. This epilogue, though, felt almost like another chapter - just another section of the story.
You can’t judge a book by its cover... Denver high school english teacher Grace Kinison enters into a long distance bdsm relationship with Toffer Shelley without ever seeing him while the two plan a party for a mutual friend. When she finally gets to LA to meet him in person and spend time together she discovers that Toffer is actually Hollywood leading man, actor Drake Dawson. Her insecurities get the best of her until common sense and Toffer prevail... I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily
I am voluntarily writing this review for this book I received through Booksprouts arc.
Grace worked as a senior English Teacher and writing her book. She talks to Toffer who is a friends with Peter and Lindsey and he was going to help her with the party. They get to talking and she finds out he is a Dom. Things progress from there she winds up going to California a week earlier so she had time to play with her Master. Twists, Turns and a good characters
I truly enjoyed this story. You have the evil people that tried to disrupt Grace and Toffer relationship and life in general, but in the end it all worked out. The scenes were written well and were believable. I have read other books by Melinda Barron, but this is one of my favorites. Love is all that matters in the end. I would recommend this book.

This story has romance, some power exchange and bdsm themes. This has a boss bent on revenge and an ex who won't take no for an answer. This is a standalone with a HEA.

This was a pretty good story. I liked Grace and Toffer and their story was both sweet and sexy with moderate BDSM activity (dildos, clamps, bondage, blindfolds, anal activities, spanking, flogger and a few other impact toys).
Grace is a 39 year old teacher of High School English. She has a passion for helping her students but has a dream of leaving her job to write full time. She's sent stories out but hasn't gotten any acceptance letters yet. Grace has been pursued recently by one of the men she works with and she keeps trying to fend him off. Unfortunately, he's soon to be made the new principle and seems intent on using his new power to either get her in bed or get her fired.
Toffer is a well known actor in Hollywood but goes by the name Drake in his acting. He has trouble meeting women that fit him, especially since he's a Dom and with being famous it's hard to let women in on that and not have them go to the press with the news. Because of this and the pull of his fame, Toffer has to be very careful about who he truly gets involved with.
Toffer is on a TV show that has a married couple, Lindsey and Peter, as the writers. They're friends of his and it just so happens that Grace and Lindsey are close friends (even now that Lindsey lives in LA). Peter decides he wants to do a surprise birthday party for Lindsey and asks Grace to help plan it. Peter doesn't have the time to do the planning without tipping off Lindsey so Toffer steps in to coordinate with Grace and help plan the party. Toffer and Grace first start talking via instant messaging and Toffer starts with a bit of flirtation right off the bat. When he makes a off handed comment about punishing her and she doesn't seem put off by it Toffer get curious and starts flirting more. Grace sends pictures for the party and makes sure to include a recent one that she's in so Toffer knows that she's full figured. Grace has some mild body issues but isn't OTT about it like some heroines in some other book so it worked well. Once Toffer still flirted with her, Grace felt confident enough to move forward and she responds to his flirting.
Grace and Toffer soon start engaging in a virtual BDSM relationship, first via IM and then over the phone. It was actually kind of interesting to see how they handled their relationship while miles away from each other. While Grace and Toffer start getting involved, Grace faces some issues with the new principle at work causing her issues and ends up facing a school board investigation for things she didn't do. Thankfully, Toffer is there to take her mind off of things. Grace was going to see him when she flew out for the party but with the issues going on, he convinces her to leave early and spend an extra week with him. Toffer hasn't told her who he is so there's some conflict when she realizes but she recovers pretty well and she and Toffer are able to enjoy their time together. They spend a lot of time together (outside of his work) and Toffer helps Grace explore many facets of her secuality and their new relationship. They work well with each other and they both realize it. That doesn't mean there's no drama but thankfully it gets worked out relatively quickly and Toffer and Grace end the story with a sweet start to their HEA.
This was a pretty enjoyable story. I liked Grace. She was a BBW but she didn't have the huge self image issues that get so annoying in some books and I loved that. Grace had strength and some brains and wasn't afraid to use them (for the most part). Toffer was a very good hero, almost a little too perfect but I couldn't help but like him. Overall the story was a very nice BBW romance with some hot BDSM sex and a little drama to spice it up but not enough to be annoying. I'd recommend this story. :D
synopsis: grace is helping to plan a birthday party for her best friend, who happens to be a screenwriter for a popular tv show. one night, she is surprised by an instant message from toffer, who has been put in charge by the friend's husband on the hollywood end of things. they get to know each other through the computer, and grace's submissive fantasies come out. this is just find for toffer, who is definitely a dominant. when things go bad at her job, toffer offers to fly her to l.a. early, so that she can get away from it all. when grace meets toffer, she is shocked that someone so famous (he uses an alias as his "star" name) would be interested in an overweight mess.
what i liked: i liked the fact that, although he was the dominant, toffer didn't need to all the time. when something was going wrong with grace, he was more concerned about that than about whether or not she had done what he said. i liked the fact that they were themselves before they met, and didn't have as far to go with regards to falling in love.
what i didn't like: grace was fairly confident in most ways, but when she ran into one situation, she ran away instead of staying to fight.
BOO! I had hopes for this one. It just kind of fell flat for me though :( Even the steamy scenes were rather light.
There were a couple of things that I thought would come into play more like Grace's weight. I mean, she's an overweight school teacher and he's a famous actor (one of most eligible bachelors). I expected more drama there. So, she's 40 pounds overweight and most of that weight is in her chest? Ummm... makes no sense, she's a DD nothing more.
I was hoping for more of the cyber thing between Toffer and Grace. Also, I didn't think he was a dom. For me, it was more of an abuse of power. There seemed to be a lot of punishments, but not a lot of rewards. She's never done this before, but you're going to punish her if she doesn't get it right whether than guide her? That's not right.
It was REALLY rushed too. Man, maybe this wasn't even worth 3 stars? I am bummed I paid $5 for this when it was too short and I didn't care for it that much.
I'd say this story is a ★★★3/4 star read. Probably best enjoyed by those who like to dream of HEAs also for those over the age of 20-29, with perfect, perky boobs and killer figures, because Grace has neither. Toffer; a Hollywood actor and Dom has his picks of those women. But what he really yearns for is a submissive woman who loves him for him. After sessions of online dominance, he invites her to California without revealing his true identity.
I liked the way he guided her into her role as a sub. We se both the gentleness and dominance that should be part of this lifestyle. His self assured Dom personality also helped Grace through real life problems and personal issues and insecurities. And *the* phone call that finally led her to meet him in Las Vegas was funny;-)
Some of the sex scenes were unrealistic, though. I mean, how easy is it to climax just by sticking a candle up your...?
This book just didn't work for me. It started off okay; I liked the sexy email exchanges that Grace and Toffer had, but interspersed with those was the creepy storyline of Grace's principal. That was just like a cold icy bucket of water on what could have been a hot story.
Grace and Toffer don't actually meet until halfway through the book. Toffer had kept promising to do certain things to Grace when they finally got together, but he never really followed through. This was very lite BDSM IMO. It could have been so much more. And then, the showdown at the end with the model was ridiculous! The whole ending was a letdown. It was too rushed and was all tied up with a pretty little bow. Maybe, with another 50 or so pages, this book could have satisfied me more, but as it is, it left me wanting.
Grace is a school teacher, being hounded by the newly appointed principal. Her best friend is turning 40 so she and her friend's husband's friend are going to plan the surprise party. They only connect online and begin a D/s relationship, something she has been curious about but never tried. She knows him as Toffer and has never seen his picture, but has spoken to him on the phone. He has not only introduced her to the lifestyle long distance but has supported through her work drama. Grace is in for a big surprise to find out that Toffer is the birth name of big Hollywood star Drake. I enjoyed this book. Some of the d/s stuff was a little much for me, but nothing too over the top. I liked that the story was told from both of their perspectives and you could really get more of a feel for how they fell about each other and the lifestyle/relationship.
I'm having one of those moments where I don't quite know what to say beyond I loved it! I don't consider that a review though, so....
Very hot bdsm read! Not much angst, what there is, is resolved quickly. Love both the H and BBW h (though I'd have liked them to be fleshed out a bit more), and the story while not the most in depth one ever told, was entertaining and well written.
One note though, the description makes this looks like there's two stories, but really it's just one (Graceful Submission) with a vignette (Graceful Mischief) at the end.
I think Melinda Barron just became one of my favorite authors :)
I was mixed in whether this would be a 2 or 3. I ended up giving this a 2.5. The BDSM scenes were okay. I just didn't like Grace very much. She didn't do it for me. Her complex of her being fat is over done. To have a conflict between her and the thin model is a bit trite. Topher's secret while I understood, was still wrong. He did break a trust and I can't really condone it. Ms. Barron's writing is fine. Her sex scenes were good. I just didn't like this one as much as I enjoyed her other books. I rated this as just okay. I recommend it for people who are into light BDSM and like the sappy star crossed lover stories.
I liked this book and will definitely will be reading more of this authors work. The characters were well developed and, though I would have preferred it to be longer, I am glad I took the chance to read it. The main characters began their relationship online, then moved to the phone, then finally met in person. It was cute, and Grace was sweet. And Toffer, well he was hot!
I rated this book 3.5 stars, but because GR doesn't let me give half stars, I upped it to 4. If you want to see more of my review you can check it out here: http://crackedandbrokenglass.blogspot...
