Thrift shop til someone drops...

It’s time for Halloween, and that means costume sales at the Pine Grove Thrift Store. After Jessica Braun finds her aunt’s odd stash of disguises, she will have more than enough inventory for this holiday.

But where did the costumes come from? And why did Aunt Daphne collect them? When Jess and her friends reheat a cold case, they stir up dangers, old and new.
And when her suspicions about the killer lead her down roads she never expected to travel, another life will be lost in Pine Grove.

Which will Jess be more frightened of this Halloween—a murderer on the loose, or the things that go bump in the night?

This was an interesting cold case that Jess discovered her aunt Daphne had been working on and when a current murder happened, she couldn't help but think they were connected. And she refused to believe her aunt's bestie had anything to do with either case, but she and Freddie discovered some incriminating evidence Daphne collected. I loved how excited Freddie gets when Jess has a new case--Rick's a big help too. Freddie's so into sleuthing and probably can't wait till high school's over and she can sleuth even more with Jess and her uncle.

It looks like Jess and Joe have a good shot at a relationship now, so I hope that continues. But what the heck's up with Deputy Douglas? I guess we'll find out in the next book! Can't wait to borrow it on KU.

This mystery had a number of twists. Still an enjoyable read.

Needs Proofreading

This is a fun and fast-paced story. But there are mistakes in the print that are very distracting. Having his when it should be is is one example. I would give it 5 stars 🌟 if it weren't for the ridiculous mistakes. I don't know if they're faults of the proofreader or typesetter, but please fix them!

It's Halloween in Pine Grove, Jessica Buam is searching her attic for her late aunts stuff. This leads her into a cold case involving her late aunt Daphne, along with her teenage sidekick Freddie. Is a fun mystery, and another hit in this series
