In sickness and in health.
I raved about the first book, Mrs Middleton, sometime back. A forbidden romance between a young woman and her best friend's mum. It was scandalous and so hot and I fell in love with Vanessa and Emma right away. Then came a second book, Teach Me, and the sex between them went up another level.
Vanessa is the third and final book and it's much harder to read than the first two. But not in a bad way. The couple are still together, married in fact, but a health scare threatens to undo the life they built together.
This is a hard topic for me because what Vanessa and Emma went through in this book hit home. I went through the same health issue with my mum twice, and over the years, I've spent more time than I should, thinking about how I'd feel if and when it happens to me too. So as much as their insecurities felt frustrating to read at times, I thought their worries were valid and relatable. And what I love is that Vanessa's mental and physical wellbeing wasn't the only focus here and that Emma's different layers of emotions were also being discussed because the mental state of loved ones are often overlooked.
This is a special one for me for personal reasons. I'd recommend this but if you're new to Mrs Middleton, you might like to note that this book cannot be read as a standalone.

The third and final book in the series featuring Vanessa and Emma.
At long last their wedding day is here - a wonderful celebration after all the difficulties and angst they faced - a beautiful future lies ahead with a torrid love life.
I settled in for another hot romance from the author with some angst thrown in. What was I thinking. Dark clouds gather and soon I was on a roller coaster ride of emotions with the heaviness of a health scare and the aftermath of decisions made.
Tereze pulled me in. The slingshot reactions, tears, doubts and withdrawal all written with sensitivity. I felt Vanessa's despair - thoughts that Emma would abandon her in disgust - physical appearance and the age gap looming large. Emma's frustration that her love isn't enough. At some points, I wished I could shake some sense into the two women.
Recurring characters from the previous books add nicely to the storyline which develops at the right pace. Advice given, the way Vanessa and Emma eventually gain strength with love the key and realize a wonderful future is possible after a journey of despair and uncertainty. Their HEA beckons.
I heartily recommend this book which is firmly on my re-read shelf.

I enjoyed this story a whole lot more than the first Mrs Middleton book. The problems this book tackles are far from enjoyable but they are real life problems that couples go through on daily basis and I found myself invested in what happens to the two MC's. It shows a lot more of their insecurities, frustrations and fears. It also shows their determination and love for one another while trying to find a way to preserve their marriage through the pain.
Recurring characters from Jourdyn Kelly’s LA series were a nice addition to the story line.

Wow, what an emotional ride this was. And with emotional I mean the whole series. Their journey from being in a forbidden relationship, to discovering their deepest fantasies and in the end to arrive together at their destination. And by destination I mean the ultimate goal you want to reach in a relationship. It‘s to know that you found your person and this person will be there for you no matter what. Of course destination might be even the wrong word because in a relationship you just don’t arrive and that’s it. It’s a constant work, but what I wanted to say is that if you got to the point where both not only love each other but also invest the same kind of commitment then you know you found you person.
Now I said a lot about relationships without saying much about the book. 🙈 But I actually think when you read this book you will understand what I mean wanting to make things work. Then after all Emma & Vanessa had to go through they are finally happy. But life has other plans for them. Just like it happens a lot when it comes to life. When I realised what was about to happen and while I continued reading, I was reminded a lot of my own family. Sometimes I had to stop for a bit until I came back to read more. Just because the story got to me so much. Of course this also mean I cried a lot.
I can’t emphasise enough what a wonderful job Melissa did with this book. I mean for me she is one of the most gifted authors. And she did something again she already did in the past. She included a very serious topic in one of her novels. This time she combined it with the story of one of our favourite couples. I am sure this combination will lead to even have even a bigger impact than it would have otherwise. I’m sure it also help some people on their journey or maybe figures as a tiny reminder for some of us.
If you haven’t read Mrs Middleton and Teach Me I definitely recommend to read these books before this one. This way you will have the whole reading experience I had. And if you have just enjoy the ride with this one.

I figured I’d enjoy it a bit as well. I missed another book in this “series”: Teach Me. I don’t really mind.
I’m thinking this author isn’t for me. While I understand the appeal of this book, all it does is make me slightly uncomfortable. I’ll tell you why. In this book Vanessa is dealing with some very serious health concerns. I feel like the author has either experienced something similar themselves or at least up close. And that is where it goes wrong for me. I feel like we are going through the motions, het told things but don’t feel it. The only feelings that are well portrayed are the sexy ones, and honestly, I don’t care much for those (especially in a story like this). The sexiness is a thing for this author, most definitely for this Mrs Middleton series, but I just don’t connect as well with characters and a story, however emotional it might be, if the most important or prevalent thing is sex.
And this is on me, for sure. There are a lot of people out there who do enjoy this book. And I get that, Tereze is an excellent writer, the stories just aren’t to my liking.

The story opens up with Vanessa and Emma's wedding. Omg, they were over the moon happy. What could go wrong, right ?
There are also some scenes that are wow hot 🥵 , this book is steamy. I was excited to read the next chapter in Vanessa’s and Emmas story .
All of a sudden, there is a huge fork in the road. After Vanessa and Emma have finally made peace with friends and family, Vanessa faces a health scare that could change her and Emma‘s life forever.
Emma is in her head, thinking what if, this was the sad part for me. Both of them had been through so much to be together. Life throws a wrench, and there were some folks that were causing issues on top of that .
Talk about stress. When you get married it’s for better or worse. I love how supportive Emma was. She would never let go of the only woman she had ever loved.
The support characters added to the story line, some even causing trouble in the own way.
Vanessa completely changed. She was so afraid that she completely pushed Emma away. It was mainly in her head. The woman that we had seen had become someone else.
The author caught me off guard. I was like what is going? What the F? It’s like their relationship was crumbling to the floor and it would not recover. I just did not understand how it was happening so fast, the story was very emotional . Rebecca really helps Vanessa look at the situation from a different perspective. The love she felt for Emma would never die.
Your health is very important no matter what is going on in your life and work..
This is a story about real life circumstances that arise when we are beginning a new life. Navigating friends, family etc. and making time for one another. It also brings to light how important your health is.
I highly recommend this book. I would like to thank the author Melissa Tereze for the arc. It is always a pleasure to read your stories ! 5 stars

We start on Vanessa's and Emma's happiest day, their wedding. Life for them is glorious, until Vanessa finds a lump. But their love for one another is so strong, even though Vanessa thinks that eventually, sooner than later Emma will leave. Emma knows better.
This book touches upon health and life choices. I couldn't put it down and it made me examine what I would do if in Vanessa's shoes, or Emma's.
Melissa wrote a masterpiece here. Definitely do yourself a favor, buy the book and read it immediately.

Giving it 5 stars because the emotions were written perfectly and you could feel it, but I’m not sure I’ll read it again, unlike Mrs. Middleton. Without giving anything away, there is one major topic throughout which I didn’t expect and made the book difficult to read due to its nature. I typically try to avoid books when knowing those topics but I couldn’t with this one and how much I loved Mrs. Middleton.

Vanessa by Melissa Tereze is the 3rd and final book in the Mrs Middleton series which I adore. So when I was offered an arc of Vanessa I jumped at the chance.
I absolutely love Mrs Middleton. It’s one of my favourite age-gap books and I love that Melissa has carried on Vanessa and Emma’s story and brought it to its conclusion.
Vanessa is one of those books that will stay with you. It took me on a journey of so many emotions, both good and devastating, and I couldn’t get enough.
You have to read the other books in this series before you read this otherwise 1) you’ll miss out on so much deliciousness and 2) you will not be able to appreciate the range of emotions that this book provokes. Vanessa isn’t up for preorder yet so if you haven’t read them yet, you have time go grab Mrs Middleton and Teach Me before you read this review.
The book starts with Vanessa getting the wedding of her dreams. It’s magical and perfect and she is so grateful to be marrying her Emma and to be surrounded by the people who mean the most to her. Vanessa and Emma are perfect for each other, the path they have traveled to get here has been hard and full of twists and turns, but they’ve traveled it together and are stronger for it.
That is until a life altering discovery threatens to shake and possibly break their solid foundation. I don’t want to spoil anything because half of the heartbreaking fun (yes Melissa does somehow make heartbreak fun) is discovering the events along with Vanessa. Get the tissues ready, be prepared to be mad at Melissa 😂 and as she always says “trust the journey”.
Vanessa has always had insecurities and during this book they come to the surface and almost break her. Watching her deal with them almost broke me. To watch a strong, happy independent woman, fall apart is always so hard, but luckily for Vanessa she has the support and unconditional love of her beautiful wife and adoring daughter to pull her through. But it’s not easy and Vanessa being who she is tries to push them away.
Emma is such a wonderful character. The strength she shows in this book is beyond admirable, she has her wobbles but she never wavers from her belief that Vanessa is her destiny and she stops at nothing to help her.
I’m sad that this is the end of the Mrs Middleton series, but also completely satisfied with its conclusion. As always with a Melissa Tereze book the anguish is high, but the hotness is also off the charts. This book creates a perfect balance of both and it is just perfect. 5 stars plus more stars ⭐️

Vanessa and Emma will always be the age gap stars in my eyes. I loved their beginning, middle, and now this ending to their story. These soulmates have filled me with happiness and heart eyes for the past year and I wasn't sure what to expect with Vanessa. It gutted me, tore out my heart, and slowly put me back together. Just like all the best books do. Well done Melissa, you made me cry (again)!

Melissa Tereze is an author who has the ability to reach inside you and rip your heart out, have a go with it on the footy pitch, drag it with her to an Adele concert, then allow Hannah Waddingham to use it as a foot rest whilst wearing stilettos, and after all that, it becomes a chew toy for Garcia. After everything your heart goes through, she, unknowingly to you, starts to slowly pick up all the pieces and gently puts everything back together. Before you know it, you are breathing again and your heart is beating normally again. Your eyes are still puffy and bloodshot because of all the damn tears you have shed reading 'Vanessa'.
Ms Tereze, in all seriousness, has a beautiful gift of writing which takes you on a beautiful journey when you read her words. The realness to her stories and characters is astounding. 'Vanessa' isn't just another book in the Mrs Middleton series, it is an amazing and honest one. A journey of overcoming the odds, overcoming one’s self, understanding and navigating a new norm. Feeling like you are on the 'sidelines' and feeling powerless. Feeling like you are losing the most important person. Vanessa and Emma have a strong love for one another, unbreakable. But when a decision needs to be made to prevent a dreadful diagnosis in the future, there world changes dramatically. Neither knows how the other truly feels and neither believes the words the other says. I love the inclusion of Cass and Rebecca. Those two have wonderful insight for both Vanessa and Emma.
When you read the book you will understand this: "I suggest the opposite," Rebecca said confidently. This part of the book, was a moment when I thought to myself...Melissa Tereze is utterly brilliant (yes, again)! The explanation Rebecca gives was absolutely bloody brilliant!!! I'm not going to tell you, you need to read the book to find out about this part, sorry, not sorry. I do hope this is not the end of Vanessa and Emma. Fingers crossed there are more appearances in the future. Read this book you won't be disappointed. Read the series, you definitely won't be disappointed. Just have tissues handy!

Melissa really outdid herself with this book. I loved Vanessa and Emma in Mrs Middleton. After everything they went through together I’m glad for a HEA. This was a definitely an emotional read due to the main issue in the book with Vanessa. While my heart broke for both of them, Emma was the one that had me in tears. Poor girl loves so hard and went through just as much as Vanessa did. Reading her internal thoughts made me wanna cry. I know there’s a second book which I haven’t read so I do recommend reading that first because I was a little lost with some of the back story after book one. Im a little backwards but moving onto book two next 😁

Wow! Read this book!

I strongly recommend you read the previous 2 books to fully understand the dynamics. This is one of those must read books.

Oh my where to start with this review! It should be pointed out that this is the third and final book in the Vanessa & Emma story, so would suggest if you haven’t done so, do read the first two books. What an epic age-gap high aghast reads these have been. This last book is the best yet and that’s saying something, as i cried through the first and second books and had hoped I wouldn’t’t need another box of tissues!!
Vanessa is one of those books that you won’t be able to put down, regardless of the drama. I won’t ruin the plot, suffice to say just read it without delay. Thank you!

ok, ok.
The beginning of this book I assumed it was going to be a book full of smut(which I’m not opposed to but thought it was abit much for how long the book was).
But THEN the plot started.
I wasn’t expecting the route of this book but it was really interesting and I’m glad it wasn’t one of those typical epilogue books.
Without spoilers, I felt like some parts were repetitive, specifically the feelings Vanessa was having. I understand that under the circumstances we can let her have the repetitive feelings but Emma reassured her over and over, it felt a little distrusting and I wouldn’t have blamed Emma for flying off the handle. It was just dragging a little and felt like I was re-reading chapters.
Great book though, have never read a romance book that touches on this subject.

I am shattered
You may as well as just ripped my heart outta my chest and served it to me on a platter. It was emotionally wrenching for me as I have been through a similar situation. However, it was extremely well written. Plus, it's Vanessa. I hate to see them go but it was a wonderful ride. I feel like it's Dani's turn now. Maybe Dani and Ana. A little age gap lesfic for the the masses. 🤔🤔🤔

Great book and it was the perfect ending to this series.
The theme of the book hit too close to home, but I loved how Vanessa and Emma were able to navigate such a hardness and came through on the other side still loving each other.

One of those books very easy to recommend.
Mrs. Middleton is a must read before this one though.
It was a shitty move of Melissa dropping "Vanessa" a week before I take an important exam. How a person is suppose to study when their brain keeps telling them of the good stuff waiting in their Kindle? TSC TSC TSC
Anyway, this is one of my favourite tropes, established couples having to do more than talk the talk to keep things from derailing, and that's definitely what I got here. Things got shaky after some news and the couple had to do some massive effort to stay together. The events of this book are life changing and IMHO Melissa did a great job showing the ups and downs, the emotions they had to go through, in a very sensible way. I only hope I never get to experience it, at all.
So I loved that Emma and Vanessa walked the walk. It was not easy and I'm glad they had some support in friends too, it definitely helped things out.
But Imma say, I'm really mad at Richard, because he made me quite annoyed with Vanessa at some point, she being quite repetitive with some really annoying thoughts. The man did quite a number on her and yeah, even though she was the one saying some not so nice stuff, I know it came from wounds that were too deep and not properly healed and they were inflicted by this wanker. I hate him!
Anyway, everyone and their mother keep saying therapy is healing, that it works, so I think Vanessa could've used the help of a professional in addition to madam before now, because like I said, sometimes wounds, insecurities run too deep to really heal by themselves. And this also applies to Emma, sometimes her worries, IMO, were unfounded and things escalated unnecessarily, adding to a situation that wasn't great already. I'm just glad they ultimately got it together and can enjoy their life together in peace.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, we still got the steamy we all love. Unlike my food, I like my books spicy! and even with all the shite stuff happening we still got the fire.
I've found rather difficult to write this review without giving a massive spoiler. So I'm sorry if it makes zero sense (not that any of my other reviews do).

I made this account just so I can do a bit of rambling about this book. I'm probably going to start writing down my thoughts here for the other books as well so I can get some of these thoughts out of my head but I had to start with this one. I don't particularly have too much to say and would have to be careful about spoiling anything just in case, but this book will have a special place in my heart.
First half is more or less what I've expected from reading Mrs Middleton novels, and even before diving into the book, I kind of figured out what would potentially happen (not 100% entirely but knowing the trope and from the description at the back). Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it a lot.
Second half of the book completely destroyed me and I don't know if I can emotionally recover from the rollercoaster I went through reading this book any time soon.
I can identify so much with what Vanessa was going through (similar fear for a different reason, of course) and the way she acts and processes everything that was happening. At the same time, I fully empathize with how Emma decided to handle the whole situation (or how not to, depending on how you look at it). So the entire time I was reading through their struggle I cried more than I'd like and had to put the book down time to time to calm myself down.
By the end, I wanted just a little more, like an extra chapter or so, but I suppose that just proves how much I enjoyed the book and wanted to have more Vanessa and Emma's story in my life. I fully understand why this would be the final book.
The only minor issue I have is Lauren and I don't know... maybe it's because I never liked her in the first book (for good reasons) but in my opinion, she just exists and does nothing and make things marginally inconvenient, I guess? Way too passive for someone who's supposed to be Emma's best friend and Vanessa's daughter. But at this point it's just a nitpick.
I would love to sit down and read through the entire series again soon (and more in the future) and I'll cry probably. Most likely. Yeah, definitely I will.

Emotional, turbulent and passionate
It's Melissa Tereze and more so, it's Vanessa and Emma - there's no way this was ever going to be a sweet, easy going read. It's not... its deeply emotional but in typical Tereze style, she doesn't take that emotion where I thought she would, and she makes it worth your while to go on the journey.
I started reading this and had to put it down because I thought it was going to be too emotionally harsh. (Trying to avoid a spoiler here so apologies if that's vague.) I shouldn't have feared - Tereze is, as ever, like a good partner, she knows how much you can take, challenges you to take more but never actually breaks you. This is so true here.
The way Melissa creates an emotional turmoil that means we spend most of the story living in our two favourite women's heads is nothing short of magical. She makes the turmoil real and oh so personal but equally she makes it tolerable. All fans of Vanessa know that a little pain makes the pleasure more intense and this is true here too.
Oddly, Melissa somehow managed to take a storyline around a very specific and scary form of loss and strip it back to its essence, an essence that resonates, one of fear of ourselves, who we are and who we want to be for those we love. That only makes this more impactful.
After reading this, you WILL want to clutch those you love tight and I dare you not to shed a tear as you do so.

I was given an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. Vanessa and Emma had my heart, ever since I read Mrs. Middleton. I adored the whole story, from forbidden longing to love. Teach Me gave us another view point on these two, and added another level to their relationship. So when I heard we were going to get a third installment I was beyond excited. Melissa Tereze has a way of making you become invested in the characters she writes, invested in what happens to them. I will admit I was more invested in Emma in Book 1 & 2. Book 3 was Vanessa's, so the title was apt.
We get to meet the characters from Book 1 & 2 again and it's a joy to catch up. Vanessa and Emma's life is perfect. They're happy, their life together is picturesque. Then it's turned right and it's head, upside down and inside out. In the process of reading this, the same happens to you. This one sucker punched me a couple of times, and I definitely shed a couple of tears. There are times you want to hug the stuffing out of these two and times you want you shake them and say "talk to each other". Trauma does strange things to people and Tereze writes that whirlwind really well. She also writes the emotional journeys these two go through in a really touching and thoughtful way. Truly a great read.

I read this a few days ago and it’s still sitting in my head and heart.
So, we are following up on Vanessa and Emma’s story from Mrs Middleton and Teach Me. If you think the heartbreak in the first book was bad, well, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
I don’t want to give anything away, but the rollercoaster ride you take is….it’s big, but it’s also HEA. It will make you laugh, cry, get angry, smile and maybe want to rip the author a new one! ( I certainly did ).
Every once in a while you read something that you know will take some time to get over. For me, this is that book. It’s not the story that’s written, even though it’s a great story..it’s the conversations and inner thoughts that take place. It’s so well written, so real to everyday life that it seems like Melissa has popped into your own head and had a rummage around stealing your own thoughts and feelings. After reading, I just..I wanted to start it again straight away it was that good but knew I couldn’t because I wanted to let it sink in. I’m looking forward to doing a read through of all 3 books, and even though I know the outcome, the ups and downs are worth it.
Trust the Journey and maybe pick up some tissues and comfort food. 5 stars doesn’t give this book the credit it deserves.

It's always hard when something bad happens to a favorite character in a book.
Vanessa's ordeal was almost too hard to read and what was almost worse was Emma's heartbreak over the whole situation. Unbearable!
Melissa Tereze has done much to torment us with this twist of unexpected events, but such is life!
I read the book in bits and pieces because I was traveling and sometimes spent hours thinking about these two and the difficult times they were going through.
Proof of how much this book and these two grab me again and again.
It's an obvious turning point in Vanessa's life, and it's very real.
It could happen to any of us.
But a love as deep as these two have for each other can get through anything, albeit with all the bumpy moments.
These intense moments almost broke me, but she wouldn't be the queen of „romangst“ if there weren't such moments.
There were moments, when I would have liked to murder a few supporting characters. Dani, for example…
It was definitely one of the books of the past few months that got me emotionally carried away.
Great writing as always and hopefully we'll see and hear from them again!

I absolutely loved Mrs Middleton, the first in this series of books. I haven’t read the second book and managed to dive straight into this one without too much difficulty, although I’m sure reading them all in order would be preferable to get a full feel of Emma and Vanessa’s characters and their relationship.
As for Vanessa I have mixed feelings. The main and supporting characters are marvellous and it is wonderfully written. It has a powerful story full of love and angst and the must have HEA ending. For me I think it is just too personal. I like to read novels to escape reality and this was way too close for my liking.
Having said all that, it is still a fantastic book with super hot ladies and a subject to get you thinking!

An absolutely amazing continuation of the novel that got us into Vanessa's and Emma's life! The first novel was truly beautiful , but this one, dealing with a very serious issue.... totally amazing!
And what not only lesbians or bisexual women, but women in general need. This should be a book gifted to women around us, just in case, because of the topic it deals with. I wont be spoiling although my mind itches to do so, so I will just thank Melissa wholeheartedly for choosing exactly this topic to write about , lead us through this together with her two amazing characters, and....giving women hope... Dont know if I can write more and praise this second novel more and not reveal what it is about.
So, Melissa, if you ever come across this comment, know that one human being is thankful to you for dealing with this topic in particular and for writing this amazing novel. It was hard going through what the characters went through, dealing with their....with what they were dealing with, and especially Emma... and once more thank you with my whole heart!

Wow! So Heartbreaking and Heartwarming!
Melissa Tereze has become the top storytelling Age-Gap writer in all of Sapphic. But these three books with Vanessa and Emma reached a new level. The relationship between them has been written so fierce and loving, committed. I loved this last book in the trilogy. Vanessa and Emma were in wedded bliss. A coming together of two lives that belonged together despite the rough roads. But when Vanessa discovers something that can potentially ruin her new marriage, she makes wrong decisions after another. Ultimately pushing Emma away. But Emma didn’t love Vanessa so long to have it taken away. This book was something of a tear jerker. It was a journey to get to the point of the bond they share. Sorry to see this series end but what a way to go…..

Wow, such a hard book to read in many ways. The scare of breast cancer is so real and raw. In the end doing the surgery to prevent the possibility of the cancer is incredibly brave. As the characters work through their own fears, pain, struggles it became harder to read as you felt like you were right there with them in that despair. At the same time that is when you know you are reading a fantastic book as that is part of the point. I loved that their LA friends were still there for them, as well as Lauren. It was great that it started with one wedding, ended with someone else’s wedding and that Emma and Vanessa were able to find a whole new version of themselves in the new place they were in.
