Really more like...2.82, but I read the whole thing. So, rounding up.

Still, though. I'm conflicted about this one. The potential was there! The vibes were very nearly vibing! And yet, the execution was just a little off. Mostly because I felt like nothing happened? This plot was sloooooow and that would have been fine if Luella seemed to do much of anything all book.

She was a little whiny? I occasionally wanted to shake her?

Did she and Vadika juat never make up? Because that's kind of lame, honestly.

I think I hyped this book up a little too much in my head. When I saw the mood board for this book, it reminded me a lot of the mood board for the book I’m writing. There are definitely some similarities (magic in colleges) and so I feel like I bought this book because I really want to read my own book- which is honestly probably not a good reason to buy a book. I should just write my own book instead :)

Anyway, there was a lot I liked about this book. The cover is gorgeous, so I really enjoyed this book as an object to read and photograph. I’m glad I bought it instead of reading on Kindle. The vibes of the book are perfect. College, witchy vibes, library vibes- it’s all so dreamy but also very sweet. The coven’s house was so whimsical and soothing. I loved all the scenes there and I wish I could spend time there myself. Getting to know the coven was really fun as well. You know who was also enjoyed meeting? Sweet himbo Ryan. I really enjoyed him as a character- injured football player, future elementary teacher, and all around sweet guy. I liked the idea of Lu finding love in an unexpected place.

I really thought that I was going to give the book 4 stars throughout because it’s a nice little love story and vibey. But the ending was not my fav.

So so so cute!
I saw so much of myself in both Lu and Ryan and so I connected with this story way too much.
Very emotional near the end. Such a cute story.
The setting and the real world magic enriched this story.

Opposites attract
He falls first
GrumpyxSunshine
Found family
College romance set in fall
No spice but lots of steamy kissing scenes.
And he’s a virgin.

The perfect read for October!

Luella Pierce feels stuck. She can't decide on a major, her coven is pushing her to make decisions about life after she graduates, and she feels like her best friend has her whole life figured out. Trying to procrastinate making any decisions, Lu decides to plan a huge Samhain celebration at Barnett University instead. But a surprising new friendship with BU's star football player Ryan Gardner has her questioning everything she thought she knew.

I adored this story. Lu and Ryan were the perfect opposites attract couple, and they were so cute together. Ryan was such a cinnamon roll and so sweet. I loved Lu and how she was strong but so unsure of herself at the same time. It felt like such a believable college aged character. Her growth throughout the story was great, and I loved seeing her grow into herself more.

There were some times in the story where it seemed like the story seemed to change direction in the middle of a paragraph. I also really wish we would have gotten a resolution between Lu and Vadika - things felt really unfinished in this area and it left me wanting more.

Other than that I really enjoyed this book and it's a great read for fall!

Things I loved:
•opposites attract
•cinnamon roll hero
•witchy vibes
•found family

Thank you to Kendra Mase for an advanced copy of this book!

This was a very refreshing and fun debut! I loved the college vibes & romance this book had.
Along with the general festive celebration, the witchy-coven vibes was an added bonus to this story.

I'd really recommend this if you're looking for a slight whimsical read this Halloween.

I received an arc, in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.

This story is missing something And I just can’t put my finger one it. It was kind of slow. Where’s the tension? The angst? I felt no chemistry between the two main characters.

I loved the characters but it was kind of insta love. He made fun of her first year and now he’s in love with her?? Ok…

I did love that this is more of a realistic witchy book. There is no BAM 💥 Magic in this book.

Bewitched By You is the perfect novel if you're looking for a NA college romance, with the grumpy x sunshine trope, and witchy fall vibes

I simply adored the story of Luella Pierce, our modern day witch, whom is struggling with the direction of her future, and Ryan Gardner, an ex-jock that now needs a little extra help to pursue his dream career.
They may be complete opposites but they make for an ideal pair, and they complete each other beautifully

The concept of a modern day witch alone was just so interesting to read about, and it all seemed so perfectly normal (as it should be). But the ladies of Luella's coven were just as lovely, and i would love to see a possible love story for a few of them aswell
And our dear Ryan... just the sweetest of sweet, and the cutest cinnamon roll

The timeline does move a bit fast, and our mc's kiss relatively early into the story (it IS New Adult...) but i really enjoyed it and got easily hooked

I had trouble getting into the book and wanting to keep reading it. Very slow burn and a lot of angst. I felt like at times some storylines would start and then just never end. Overall, it was just good.

Bewitched by you is a cute, college, witchy romance. Luella Pierce is a witch trying to figure out what she’s going to do after college. When she meets Ryan in the cemetery life takes a different route.

I loved Ryan! I loved how it was Luella’s world and he was just happy to be in it. They’re relationship was really cute. The fact that most of it takes place in the fall makes this the perfect fall read!

There’s really no spice in this book, it alludes to things and you know what happens but there are no details.

Thank you so much to the author for the ARC

Luella Pierce feels like she’s stuck. She can’t figure out a major and her coven keeps pushing her to make decisions to prepare her for life after graduation. Luella decides to plan a huge Samhain celebration at her collage at school. While waiting outside the deans office to talk over her plans, her arch nemesis and BU’s star football player Ryan Gardner is also waiting there as well.

This was seriously the most perfect book for fall. I absolutely adored Lu and Ryan. They are the perfect example for opposites attract! Ryan is just a huge teddy bear and I couldn’t get enough of him. The setting is perfect for this story. I loved all the witchy vibes and Luella’s coven. The house and the family vibes were definitely on point. The only thing that I wish happened was the resolve between Luella and Vadika.

If you’re looking for a cozy, witchy, cinnamon roll hero vibes type of book to read during the fall, PLEASE CHECK THIS ONE OUT! I promise you will not regret it.

Thank you so much to Kendra Mase for allowing me to opportunity to read and review her book! I highly recommend picking this one up when it releases on September 27th!

“I might be his after all. But, stars, if that was the case, it turned out, he was going to be mine too.”

This was the perfect fall themed book. I love Lu and Ryan so much. They are the perfect opposites! The witch and the golden retriever cinnamon roll. It felt like magic the way Kendra wrote it. Reading what Lu was doing felt like I could really see what was happening, see how confused she was, see how much she was feeling. It was perfect.

I loved Ryan. He was exactly what Lu needed. He was the sunshine on her cloudy day in the absolute best way. He accepted her and her struggles and her beliefs with no issue. He wanted to be around her and he made sure he was.

Lu was so unsure of herself, but she was so strong! She went through so much and was just feeling lost. I loved how much everyone believed in her. But they all knew she NEEDED to figure it out on her own. She couldn’t have done everything she did if everyone just told her what to do.

The timeline was so quick! Lu and Ryan talk about it at the end, and I think it was perfect. It made everything feel even more magical that in just a short amount of time, with the right people and the right things and the right time, everything can just fall into place.

And Lu’s coven made me so happy. They were also exactly what Lu needed. She was drawn to the house and it needed her as much as she needed it. My favorite part was when everyone was helping Lu make her spells. It felt so much like a family. And Ryan was there. It was perfect.

The only part I didn’t like was how stressful it was for Lu when things were going wrong. And it’s not because it was poorly written or a bad storyline. It made sense, and that’s why it hurts so much, but I hated seeing Lu so panicked and even more unsure than she was before. Everything was falling into place and then she started questioning everything that has happened. She was pushing everyone away because she did think she was good enough. And it just wasn’t true. BUT she needed to see for herself, and figure out for herself how to fix everything.

I also wish there would have been a better resolution for Lu and Vadika. They were so important to each other and an open ended ending didn’t feel like it was good enough for them. I also want to know if Lu and Natalie ever become real friends…I hope Natalie redeems herself.

I hope we can see Lu and Ryan again sometime somewhere. I love them so much!

Thank you so much to Kendra Mase for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. As always Sam at inkandlaurel did a FANTASTIC job with the cover, I cannot get over how much I love it.

Thank you so much to the author for sending me an ARC 🫶🏽

This book was such a good way to kick off the autumn season. I felt cozy, witchy, and warm, which is exactly what I wanted from the first read of my favorite season! 🎃

💫Luella Pierce is a senior in college with no major declared. She’s taken just about every class at Barnett University, but is still unsure of her future. Her best friend is excelling in her studies and her coven members each seem to have things figured out, but Lu is just stuck. Buying herself some time, she decides to try and throw the best Samhain celebration BU has ever seen. A few hiccups along the way and she starts to finds herself falling for someone who doesn’t exactly fit into her witchy lifestyle…unless, maybe he does…🫣

Luella is such a relatable character. I remember the excruciatingly daunting task of picking a major and just feeling completely lost in college. I loved being able to see her find her voice and finally be certain of what she wants for her future. Her little coven of witches was so fun to read about. I could easily see myself wanting to be friends with Faith, Anna, and Gertie! Oh and can Celeste bake me one of her famous apple pies, please? I really wished we could have had a better ending for Lu’s bff, Vadika, but I’m crossing my fingers that we get to see more of her in the future!

I loved my sweet pumpkin spice boy, Ryan 🧡I knew I would love him from the very beginning when Lu almost stepped on him in the cemetery. I was so impressed by his ability to stay kind and focused even after a college career ending injury takes away the only life he’s really known. He embraced the change and also embraced Lu into his little life. The soft spot he has for Luella is just so freakin sweet. His little kisses and confessions made me want to so badly find my own golden boy. When he said “Even your kisses taste like magic” I imploded 🫠

Overall this was just such a cute and festive fall read. Not really spicy (lots of cute kisses and 1 short explicit scene) but very swoony nonetheless!

I wanted to like this book more than I did. It had some really sweet potential, but it just sort of fell flat. It took the couple so long to get together that by the time the third act breakup happened, everything was rushed at the end. And not only did the third act breakup happen, the heroine torpedoed a bunch of other relationships at the same time, and it was just not in character for her after what we’d gotten until then. And then we never saw a resolution with her best friend! That was so disappointing! She worked it out with the coven member we barely saw but not Vadika? And who was Vadika’s mystery man? I don’t understand why we got the reconciliation with Celeste when there was a much more important one that needed to be on the page. And honestly, having three fights at the end of one book was too much. I could have done without the Celeste fight at all. Especially since it meant we just forgot about Vadika.
The chemistry between Lu and Ryan was charming in some places but stiff in others. At times, I felt like I was reading a different couple. When it was good, it was great! I smiled at a lot of it! But some of Ryan’s dialogue with Lu felt so wooden, and it would take me out of the story a bit. I’d have liked more consistency between them.
Oh. And the spice level was kind of a let down. I heard on TikTok that this was a close door romance, but it was actually like the door was open just a crack. No one likes a tease lol. And especially once we learn that Ryan is a virgin and sex means a lot to him, I was let down that we didn’t get that full moment on the page. When it comes to smut, I think it’s best to go all the way or none at all. The scene ultimately fell flat because of the vague descriptions.
All that being said, the witchy vibes were cute and got me a little in the Halloween spirit, and I liked Ryan as a character. I’m a sucker for a sweetheart jock.

This is a very sweet story. A great witchy Halloween/Samhain read.

I loved that Ryan fell so early. I would have loved some of his POV. Especially what he remembered from their first encounter and some flashbacks when he was probably low-key following her around. Also I would have loved to see his reaction to the blow out with Celeste (would he have been cheering her on from the sidelines- silent/awkward- or could be anything).

I was really hoping for a no third act break up. And really hoping that Ryan was not that dumb about someone sitting in his lap. I know he was a people pleaser but I feel like you can’t yell out loud that you love someone (for the first time) and then some time after let a random girl sit on your lap. And why didn’t he just go with Vadika if he was sad that she had to leave- why couldn’t Vadika just taken the key to her dorm? But I am happy that he stepped up with Samhain celecbration and pulled through for Lu.

What happened with Vadika? I know there was a text but didn’t get any closure between their friendship or if she was hiding or what that distance between them was. And if they were best friends- why didn’t Vadika care enough to see why she was so upset… clearly there was something going on at the dorm room and then when Lu showed up randomly. This friendship bothered me.

I adored the coven and the women in it (maybe not Celeste) but it was the perfect found family. And what Lu needs, since it seems like she wasn’t very supported truly by anyone.

I’m intrigued for the next book with Ana- since we did get a glimpse of her during this hard patch with Lu.

POV: First Person Single 👩
Rating: 5/10 (⭐️⭐️⭐️)

This is more Pagan and less Bewitched if that makes sense. Pretty cute and quirky… I loved the witch vs. jock aspect, but I just couldn’t fall in love with these characters. I think it was mostly Ryan, I just couldn’t like him then that whole party situation made me hate him even more (way to much of a people please for me). The Vadika thing was weird too not sure what happen there. And side note neither of the situations was her fault.
Overall it was a cute witchy read but not my favorite.

✨“I wasn’t sure I’d ever seen Luella Pierce look panicked before.”
“It’s an occasional occurrence.”
Particularly around frustrating ex-football players, apparently.✨

Luella Pierce is having a mid-witch crisis, everyone else seems to have life figured out except her.

I actually didn’t have any expectations about this book, but I was not convinced…

I think this book had a lot of potential, but it was missing something and I can’t quite put my finger on it 🤔

I feel that I reached the ending without really knowing this characters and not feeling a connection with them…

Luella was always a negative person and didn’t know that to do with her life (I mean, who does at that age? 🤷‍♀️) and Ryan was a sweet guy, but I feel that everything that he said to her was a bit forced?! I don’t know how to describe it better…

And also: how does he let a girl sit on his lap, while he is supposedly on à relationship with Luella, and says that he didn’t told her to leave because he is a people pleaser?! Excuse me? That is a whole other level. And I really don’t think that Luella should’ve been the one to apologise, honestly.

I liked the fact that being a witch was kind of normal and that she didn’t had to hide it. But on the other hand, I didn’t understand how the “magic” was supposed to work 😅

The end was a bit rushed, I feel. It was a slow burn, and at the end everything happened so fast.

And I still don’t understand why we saw Luella getting her closer with one of the coven witches, that didn’t appear all that much, but not with her best friend, a very much important character? 🤔

I absolutely loved this book! It was the perfect witchy rom com!

Lucella is having a mid witch crisis she’s not sure what she wants to major in or do with her life! Even her arch nemesis Ryan has future plans. She finally has a dream and passion to have a Samhain festival but the college needs to ask the council first. But when a serious injury ends Ryan’s football career, he enlists the help of Lucella to pass Biology. But when feelings arise will the two still be arch nemesis?

I loved the chemistry between Lucella & Ryan! I enjoyed the milder steam and romance! I enjoyed the immense growth Lucella & Ryan went through in the book! I could truly connect with both of our main characters! I did want to know what happened between Lucella and her friend Vaida I felt we were left wanting some more closure! I liked the virgin rep of Ryan you don’t see that a lot in books! My favorite quote was “ Apples are a sign of love. Cut an apple in half and you can share with another to ensure happiness. A simple form of love - or more so if the core forms a shape of a heart in some cases.” This was such a great book! I hope we get more!

I walked into my local Barnes & Noble a couple weeks ago and there was a book signing with Kendra Mase for Bewitched by You, and I’m so glad I stopped to grab a copy!

This book was- in a word- magical. It took me a little bit to get into the story due to some editing issues and a somewhat shaky plot in the beginning, but it completely turned around before long. I fell in love with Lu and Ryan’s love for each other. I rooted for them, laughed with them, and cried with them. I also loved learning about Lou’s coven- they truly felt like a family and it was beautiful to see these women love and support each other (most of the time anyway :) ).

The character development in this story was excellent, as was the world-building. I felt like I grew to know Barnett University, and I definitely spotted some similarities it shares with my own.

Side note to the author: there were a few loose ends I really need to be resolved! (Natalie, and especially several things involving Vadika)

In short, I highly recommend this book for readers who want a sweet college romance packed with lots of emotions and great messages!

I was first introduced to Kendra Mase when I received the ARC for "Call You Mine," which I really enjoyed. So when I saw she had a cute witchy romance - I knew it was a perfect read for October!

Luella Pierce is struggling to find her place - her best friend, her coven, and everyone else around her seems to be moving forward and reaching their goals. She's thrown all her energy in getting a Samhaim fall festival approved...and when that falls through, she adds it to her pile of disappointment. But the injured star football player becomes her friend, and her coven leader shares the potential she sees in her....and things start looking up. Will she take a chance on her future? On love?

What I liked: This is a sweet romantic comedy, and a perfect fall read. We have an sweet golden retriever MMC, and a FMC that doesn't seem to have her life together - and it works! I like that this author's characters are not perfect, and their relationships aren't perfect.

What I didn't like: Luella's best friend didn't really seem like a good best friend :(

All in all, this is an enjoyable fall read!

Really like a 3.5. The story was sweet and I enjoyed them getting to know each other, but in 3rd act conflict Ryan’s sorry but why are you mad was crazy! Lu had every right to be mad. You don’t tell someone you love them and then let your friends trash talk them right in front of you just because you’re a people pleaser! I mean seriously? Which I don’t think he ever really even apologizes for that, just the girl on his lap. And again- seriously is he spineless? You have a girlfriend and you let some girl sit on your lap?! I’m kind of mad that Lu sort of took it all on herself that things blew up.
And then never finding out what happens with her best friend when it was a major part of the story was disappointing too. And again of course Lu sort of overreacted there, but her friend was also being kind of sketchy especially since she said she had already finished her presentation, really you can’t take 10 min and talk to your friend and find out what’s up?
So basically a fun book I really enjoyed until the blow ups happened that were kinda strange/lame/maybe the wrong person is apologizing?

If you are looking to get into the Halloween spirit with a cute romance this is a great read. Although I did find the story to be a tad boring at points it was cute and overall an enjoyable read. I felt like the summary oversold the enemies to lovers trope for Lu and Ryan but I did like their chemistry. It is a closed-door romance for anyone who is unaware. There is innuendo but I wouldn't consider it spicy. Although I usually do gravitate towards romance with more spice the lack of it did not disappoint me for this particular read. I also really appreciated Lu's growth in the story. Her struggle with finding her place and worry for the future was relatable even though at points her inner monologues felt repetitive. This was my first time reading anything by Kendra Mase but I believe this was a good introduction to her and am excited to read more of her work.

the book is unlike the rest of the romance books i've read. it's a book centered around Halloween and it starts with a girl, Luella, who has a few friends but at her school she is considered weird. then, there's the popular football player, Ryan, that made fun of her their freshman year of college. but now, he's suddenly being nice and asking for advice on simple homework.
later into the story it turns out that Ryan has had feelings for Lu all along. it's a great story that shows that two people don't have to be the same to be a match, they can be opposites to. Ryan learned that he doesn't have to make everyone happy and Lu learned to make up her mind and go with her heart, not what others tell her.
overall, this book was a great read and i'm glad i decided to go outside my comfort zone and read it. it took me a bit to get into it but when i did i had no regrets and loved the characters.

Well if that wasn’t a cozy fall read, I don’t know what is! 🍁🎃🧣

Set on a college campus, that really reminded me of my alma mater, this story revolves around Lu & Ryan. A total opposites attract trope with major modern witch vibes, that explores the concepts of changing plans & the desire to find one’s purpose.

I enjoyed this book and it was the perfect way to kick off my fall reading! It was a sweet story full of deeper messages of belonging, community, & friendship. While also bringing to light challenging situations that can form us as humans - specifically in this book, a more in depth look at grief & how that affects one’s life.

Thanks so much for the ARC, Kendra!

this was a cute, whimsical witchy vibes college romance read! a bit too vanilla for my liking 😩 and it had SO much potential but for me the plot was too slow and it i almost feel like nothing really happened? i mean Ryan is a jock 🏈 and Luella is a witch 🧙‍♀️….opposites attract and im
sure you can fill in the rest!

i thought the characters were cute but i found it hard to fall in love with them 😥

i did really like the incorporation of real world magic and the background of witches and magic. more pagan-ish than casting spells and such. some moments were super sweet and it is worth the read if you want to curl up with a quick, easy & very autumnal book 🧙 ✨
