Sleigh Ride with Kellan is book one in The North Avenue Live Guys series by Sophia Nixs. This is a short, MM, holiday novella that you will easily be able to read in an afternoon.

Kellan Michaels is thirty years old, lives in Manhattan and is fostering twin four year old girls. He loves the girls, they call him daddy, and he has applied to adopt them. They are what his life revolves around. It’s just a couple of days before Christmas and he needs to drive up to Vermont to pick up a little puppy that he has had his name on a list for. It will make the girls so happy on Christmas morning. Only the weather, nor his car cooperate and he finds himself stranded.

Eli Hendley owns the local Auto shop. He loves working on cars but there is a lot more to Eli then just his auto shop! When he finds Kellan stranded, he is instantly bowled over as soon as he sees him.

These two are both instantly attracted to each other. If it’s not insta/love, it’s definitely insta/lust! Eli is forced to give Kellan a place to spend the night until the storm passes but it’s a night that changes both of their lives.

I struggled with this one a little bit. The premise is great but I couldn’t connect with them as a couple. The wording threw me a little bit so that might have been part of it. As well as being so short.

ARC REVIEW

Short, fun spicy MM romance novella with light dom-sub dynamics, forced proximity and elements of found family! I enjoyed this read and I loved that Kellan was in the process of adopting twin girls! The whole thing was very wholesome! If you’re into insta lust and insta love, this is definitely for you!

God that was…bad, sorry but this was so over the top it was ridiculous. Cheesier than a Christmas Hallmark movie. Here we go, count the eye roll:

So guy 1 has 2 twin girls that he’s going to adopt and drives 3h30 to a dog farm to get them a puppy for the PERFECT Christmas. The weather is not great but it makes sense to risk his life for a dog right?🙄
Obviously once he has the dog he gets stuck on the road back with no service. By chance he’s rescued by guy 2 who brings him back home (because the only motel is full)

So the guys met 30 minutes ago and as soon as they’re home and safe they…have sex RIGHT AWAY! Not even a “get to know each other”session with a warm drink, no no. Sex immediately. And not just any sex, they go right into “master” and “come on, drop on your knees and suck my c***” 🤨

And suddenly the dad who was so desperate to go back to his daughters spend the night having sex with guy2 and doesn’t contact anyone to let them know there’s been a problem (since he was supposed to drive home right away)

It directly skips to the next morning so we don’t see them talk or connect at all but suddenly they wake up and guy 2 is like “if his car is broken I’ll buy him a new car”🙄
And guy 1 thinks “I needed him by my side to complete my ideal world and family” Why? They barely spent any time together, didn’t know each other the day before (guy 2 doesn’t even know guy1 job) but suddenly that’s it, they’re soulmates?!

I also loved that he was desperate to get the dog but doesn’t look after him at all once they’re at the house. The dog must be quite lost but nevermind he has to have sex you know! Priorities…

Both get hard right away when meeting, despite the cold and 1 being in danger and so worried…

Apparently the automobile business is SO good guy 2 is a young billionaire 🙄

They part making plans for the future but once guy 1 is home to his kids he doesn’t contact guy 2 for 3 WEEKS! And when he does, it’s …with his cock in his hand (FaceTime) So romantic!

And to add one last eye roll: the 2 guys don’t see each other until the dad introduce his kids to guy2. They go directly to “here meet my kids”
And when the twins meet the guy 2 they call him daddy right away…very stable behaviour to rush all the family dynamic after the trauma those kids went through…

As a mom I can tell you, 4 years old kids don’t talk like that…

Honestly I hate bad reviews but even with my romantic mind I couldn’t get past one of those things. And on top of that there was no heat/ chemistry between them to justify their irrational and rushed behaviour. I usually stay away from single dad tropes because too often it’s badly done with the 2 MC who rush into it despite the kids.

I”m glad it was free and short. I skim read the end because it was just too much for me

This is a short, quick insta-love read, that is sweet and sexy with a little spice. Some forced proximity (eye waggle), found family, and 2 cute little girls.

When Kellan finds himself stranded in a snowstorm trying to get his soon-to-be adopted daughters a gift for Christmas, Eli rescues him and gives him a bed for the night, because, well, there’s no room at the Inn.
They both quickly realize that one night won’t be enough. It may be quick, but when you feel it down to your soul…except they live 3 ½ hours apart, and there are two little girls to think about. But even weeks later, when you still can’t think of anything else, you need to make a move.

An enjoyable holiday read for the season.

What a sweet Christmas feeling type of story to read! It was a short and quick read but nonetheless, very good! I loved it! 5 stars from me!

The story focuses on Kellan, a foster father of two girls who wanted to get them a puppy for Christmas. He found one which was quite a distance and he was determined to get the puppy. He drove to this small town in this rickety car in this bad weather. He was able to get the puppy and was headed home. However, the weather had gotten worse and he slid and got stuck. Luckily, the owner of the area where the puppies were, had wonderful and caring parents who sold the puppy to Kellan was concerned about him being out in the bad weather. They contacted Eli and asked him to check the roads. Eli used the sleigh ride to look for him. Luckily, Eli was able to find Kellan and brought him and the puppy back to his place. That’s where I’m going to stop and have you pick up the book to read this sweet story!

What word can I use to describe this quick Christmas novella? I keep landing on adorable - but that doesn’t fully describe it because it’s super hot and steamy too.

Kellan is in the process of adopting 4 year old twin girls and wants to get them a puppy for Christmas. He finds himself snowed in and stranded at the home of the puppy farm owner, Eli.

These two are the definition of “insta” - instalust, instalove, instafamily. But that’s a great fit for a Christmas novella. I’m not looking for a long drawn out heart wringer when I read a book like this - I love a light, rompy, good time with a HEA.

Favorite moment for me was Eli meeting Kellan’s girls - it was heartwarmingly full of squishy goodness.

A great holiday read, 4/5 stars from me!.

Amazing!

That is all I can say about this wonderful Christmas Novella by Sophia Nixs.

Eli is a single foster dad to 2 adorable girls and has arranged to pick up a present for them for Christmas. Getting caught in a snow storm he is rescued by the local mechanic Eli. With no room available at the local hotel they are thrown together for the night at Eli's house. It might be cold outside but the heat is definitely up in the house. Is this just a one night fling for them both, or is there a chance for Kellan to have the family he has always wanted?

I only have one bad thing to say about this story, it was over too quickly. I would love to see more of Kellan and Eli, I loved both of them. Instalove isn't my usual thing but i was quickly drawn into this book but Sophia and enjoyed every minute. A lovely quick Christmas read which will definitely have you wanting more.

Wow, this book was great! This is a short read nut lacked nothing on intensity!
Eli and Kellan found themselves trapped together because of a snow storm but they found a variety of ways to stay heated!
Kellan drives to pick up a Christmas gift for his daughters and has car trouble.
Eli is the only shop in town and finds Kellan sitting on the side of the road in a panic state because of the tire and the storm pounding the area.
The attraction between the 2 was instant but living 3 hrs apart, can they build a relationship? A guaranteed HEA!
This is the first book I have read by Sophia Nixs but it won’t be the last!.

Kellan got a call that there was a little puppy ready for his girls Christmas so he drove the 3 1/2 drive to get it, he got there it was snowing he figured he could still get home as he told Dee when he left. Got the puppy and headed home but then his car quit with no cell service to call for a tow truck or call Dee. Eli’s mom called and asked him to keep an eye out for Kellan as she might get stuck after he was done at the garage took the tow truck for home. Found Kellan on the road took him to the hotel to get a room but no rooms available he told Kellan that he could sleep in his guest room that the car would be done the next day so he would be home to his girls. There were sparks between them and had a great night, Kellan got home but took him awhile to give into his missing Eli before calling Eli and admitting he felt the spark too. Good book!.

Sweet, fun, heartwarming winter romance

I adore these winter novellas. They’re so good for decompressing especially at a time of the year when you sometimes just need a few moments to breath and enjoy the season. This was exactly what I wanted. It was sweet, had two genuinely likeable MCs and didn’t just focus on blood family (there’s a lovely found family feeling to this) which I think is really important at this time of year when it’s not just about your blood family but the people who help make you feel whole. Definitely a perfect cup of hot chocolate read!

Sleigh Ride with Kellen is such a romantic story. It's a great MM read. Give you all the feels. I'm so in love with Kellen and Eli. I love how their romance came about, I love the insta love of it all. I also love how there was the clever connection to Sophia's first book, the hot shot.
My only wish was that this book was longer 🤣 I loved this couple so much I just wanted more of them.
I had to give this Novella 5 star as it left me wanting more.

OMG I absolutely loved this quick insta love Christmas romance. Kellan and Eli had a connection from the moment Eli tapped on his broken down car’s window. And when their hands touched they both felt the electricity between them.

Kellan just started the adoption process on four year old twins Riley and Ana and let me tell you these two girls are absolutely adorably written into this story. Since Kellan has the girls to think of he tries to keep Eli at arms length but he can’t, love comes when you least expect it and it definitely happens so fast but the family they become is so freaking beautiful and perfect.

I seriously wish their story was so much more. It was way too short. But I loved every minute of it. Definitely recommend this!!!

4.5 stars but just because I needed more. The author pulled me into a fantastic story and I lived Kellan and Eli's journey myself. This is a short story I finished in really short time and it left me wanting for more. Other than that the story is beautifully written and brings all the Christmas Vibes.

This book is fairy-tale-esque. Here we have a man who is struggling to get by with the two little girls he is the foster parent for. He decides to get them a puppy for Christmas. His car breaks down and he is rescued by a man who happens to be rich, gorgeous, and gay. Yes, I believe in love at first sight, and I do understand the term "instalove", but goodness: Fall into bed much? And the fairy tale doesn't end there. Both guys want a family and a white picket fence. The girls instantly love the new guy and are perfectly happy to leave their friends and move to be with him. The New York Children's Services is apparently fine with their foster parent suddenly having a boyfriend AND them moving out of state to raise the children. Not exactly the scenarios my gay friends have had with adoption.
Ah, well. Just accept it is a Christmas miracle and just roll with it. Life is good.

This is a instant attraction, love short story. Kellan trying to make Christmas perfect for his soon to be twins, gets stuck with car trouble and no cell service in the middle of a snow storm. Thank goodness Kellan’s mom insists he check on the person who had picked up a puppy from them. Kellan found Eli and took him home to wait for the morning to fix his car. This is a warmhearted, feel good holiday story.

A cute story of Kellan, a single father, off to get a puppy for his daughters and caught in a blizzard. Enter Eli, mechanic and Kellan’s white knight, to rescue him and sweep him off his feet. Snow, sleighs (sleds to some of us), twin girls and instant attraction, what could be better at Christmas time? Short, sweet, feel good read for the holidays.

This was a quick read, and since I haven’t read anything by this author (or her original pen name), I figured I’d give it a shot.

This is 100% insta-love. If you don’t like insta-love, this isn’t going to work for you. It was a sweet and sexy story, with a cute dog, even cuter twins and a little bit of alpha male thrown in.

Kellan, as a foster parent, was all about just getting back home to his girls with the puppy that they so desperately wanted. But as can happen in the winter, blizzard comes along and takes out the car, leaving Kellan and little Pip in a dangerous place. Eli, the son of the people Kellan purchased the dog from, came to the rescue. As a mechanic he could take care of the issues. However, first they had to stay at Eli’s for the night.

This was a feel good story, with insta-love, and an ever so patient man left back in Pennsylvania. Eli never called or even texted for three weeks. That seemed odd to me. I know he was giving Kellan space, but even a “I’m thinking about you” would have been good. And Kellan never once looked Eli up on his phone? “Man of my Dreams”? I guess I struggled with that a bit.

Probably my biggest issue, and it’s one I very rarely bring up, was the editing. When I receive ARCs, I very rarely comment on editing, as often the book hasn’t been through a final round of edits, etc. However, it needed a good edit, from either an American editor, or one who is very experienced in editing America based books. One of the MC’s was from Manhattan, the other Pennsylvania. Somebody should have caught things like “we’re a right pair” or “stay at mine”. It does jump the reader out of the story.

In the end, a lovely holiday ride. It did have a very happy ending, with the twins falling in love with Eli instantly, when Kellan introduced them. Couldn’t ask for more from a holiday romance.

A Family for Christmas . . .

Kellan Michaels is adopting his adorable twin daughters, Riley and Ana. He and his roommate, Dee, who helps with caring for the girls, live in Manhattan. His Christmas surprise is going to be a puppy he needs to pick up in Pennsylvania. The trip takes 3+ hours and the snowy weather is worsening. And on the journey home, his car breaks down in the blizzard conditions. And, of course, he has no cell phone signal to call for help

Fortunately, the couple who sold him the puppy notified their son, Eli Hendley, to watch out for him on his way home. They were worried with the weather and his car not seeming reliable in such a storm. Grumbling he still has an oil change repair needed for a radiator before he could leave the shop, he agreed to look for the man since they should pass each other on the road. He got in his tow truck and began the search. Sure enough, he saw a car with hazard lights flashing. He put a hazard sign to warn other drivers, if any came out in this weather, and drove to a motel so Kellan could get a room. With the motel fully booked, Eli invited Kellan to spend the night at his home. There really were no other options, although both men were attracted to each other and trying not to show it. Would they finally be unable to resist? Would Eli be comfortable becoming part of Kellan’s new family?

I enjoyed the characters whose personalities were well-presented by the author. It quickly felt like the reader knew them and the kind of generous people they were. Eli’s mom was a great example when she insisted Eli watch for Kellan on the road in case he had trouble in the blizzard. She probably saved his life! And Kellan’s love for his twins was exceptional (even though a drive through the blizzard for a puppy was a bit insane). Grab your copy and see how it all works out for all of them.

This book (well, the second one) keeps popping up on my social media as something I apparently neeeeeed to read. Let's pretend it's not linked to several other series that I might or might not ever get to reading (because I'm not in the mood to read a MF book, let alone dozens, to read this MM novella series...judge me if you must (although, upon further research, this series is not linked solely through Sophia, but through those fun themed series with multiple authors, like "Heart2Heart" or "Valentine's Inc"). ANYWAY this is Sophia Nixs's The North Avenue Live Guys series; the first book is "Sleigh Ride with Kellan."
["A rugged, bearded mechanic becomes my knight in shining armor.

This romance was suuuuuuper fast. Like, love at first sight fast. Like, one night together and that’s all she wrote fast. I can get behind a little of it, but I think it would have made more sense to me to have them snowed in a whole weekend, and then there’s more time to actually get to know someone instead of only going off that feeling of fate. But the scene where he meets the twins?!?! I sobbed. So freaking adorable (and too much for my heart).

Imagine mozzarella sticks lasagna. Nothing but cheese.
MM romance about a single dad- Kellan, stuck in a blizzard. The knight in blue overall comes barreling down in the snow on his steel steed - Eli, to rescue and of course give him shelter in his cabin.
They enter. They kiss. They have sex. All in ch 3 with no preamble.
And when they go separate ways, they miss each other. Weirdly Kellan's family tells him, he's in love with THE ONE, (haven't even met Eli at this point)
I think the problem with novella is, it should be focusing on one incident, a pre-story, or just one night. Then novella peaks interest.
When you try and squeeze entire story in one short novella, the pace becomes fast but it zooms past concrete developments that ground and grow the story.
Could've been good tho
Narration was sub par too. Devon Ryder & Jeff Conor need more experience
3 stars for puppy and th twins, and I'm being generous

This is book 1 of The NOrth Avenue Live Guys Series and the first that I have read in this series. This is the story of Kellan Michaels and Eli Hendley. Kellan lives in Manhattan with his roommate Dee. He is fostering two twin girls and is trying to make it a pernament adoption. To prove that this is forever, he heads out to a ranch in Pennsylvania to pick up a puppy for the girls for Christmas. Unfortunately he has headed out in miserable weather. His car dies on the way back and he is trapped without cell phone coverage. Eli is a mechanic and owner of his own garage. His parents ask him to look for Kellan on their way home. He had left with the puppy but they were worried about the condition of his car and the snowstorm. Kellan and his puppy are rescued by Eli but the local motel is full due to the weather. So Eli takes them both to his home. The chemistry is off the charts between the two of them. But they are both headed in different directions. Will they be able to ignore the attraction that simmers between them? This is their story. It is well written and easy to read. This holiday novella is warm and sweet. A perfect way to spend an afternoon. I enjoyed it.

Overall Thoughts: If you want a short, sweet, insta-lust, insta-love, MM romance, then you want this book. I signed up for this book because Devon Ryder narrated it, and I’ve been wanting more of him, and while I don’t normally seek out MM romance, this was a really fun and easy listen that was an amazing break in my recent stint of dark romances. It was really cute and fun, and a nice introduction to Sophia, a new-to-me author. I think we will be seeing a lot more of Devon Ryder and Jeff Conners is a new-to-me narrator, and i can see him becoming popular very soon too.

Narration: Duet, first person present tense, dual POV,

Tropes: MM, holiday, adopted daughters, insta-lust, insta-love, mechanic, rich/average Joe, cute kids, live apart, he helps him during the storm, puppy

Overall: 4
Spice: 3
Humor: 2.5
Drama: 1.5
Darkness: 0
Narration: 4.5

Kellen is fostering two young girls he is in the process of adopting. It’s Christmas time and he decides to get the girls the one thing they want more than anything, is a puppy. Kellen decides he has to deliver this for them for Christmas, so drives 3.5 hours outside the city to bring the dog home, when he gets stuck in a snowstorm.

Eli finds Kellen on the side of the road and offers to take him home until the storm passes, and Eli can fix his car. They have to finish the trek home in a sleigh which is when their instant attraction really starts to heat up. They are barley in the door before they are ripping at each other’s clothes and losing themselves in one another.

When Kellen has to return home, Eli shares his feelings for Kellen but puts the ball in his court. After weeks of deliberation and sorting out his feelings, he calls Eli. Is he too late, or will Kellen and Eli get to have the HEA neither of them thought they would ever have?

3.5 Stars!

If you are looking for a quick, insta-love holiday read that is angst free, this book might be for you. Kellan and Eli meet when Kellan's car breaks down in a snowstorm. While Eli comes off very gruff and unhappy with having to help Kellan, he does have a heart of gold underneath. Kellan is a very sweet man that just wanted to get his foster girls a dog.

I liked Kellan, but Eli took a little while to warm up to. I understood where Eli was coming from, but the first impression of him stuck with me as he reluctantly helped Kellan. Eli is very generous with those he cares about, even Kellan, once he accepts him. They definitely have chemistry and some undefined Dom/Sub elements, but something felt off about it.

My main sticking point came from how much Eli seemed to know about Kellan and his girls after their one night together. I felt like I had missed at least one conversation or more somewhere since they really hadn't said much to each other before then. Once I moved past that point, things went smoother, albeit at a quick pace.

I decided I needed a quick read, insta-love book in between longer, angstier books. This seemed to fit the bill. It's even set at Christmas, my favorite season. It might be middle of summer where I'm at, but I'm always down for a Christmas novella. I wish this was one I could recommend.

Between the massive amounts of grammatical errors, the back and forth language (are they British or American? Who knows? One minute it's Santa, the next it's Father Christmas), and the fact that four year old children speak like grown adults, this book was just not good. I don't know a single four year old child who would say, "Why can't they just admit they needed to have an adult talk?" Um....just no.

I can suspend belief for the instant love between the characters because that's what I was looking for so I'm all for it, but instant family, immediate calling the other man daddy sends up all sorts of red flags. When dealing with children, you have to make sure you treat the story a bit differently.

All in all, this had good bones, but the execution was just off. I cannot recommend it.

First and foremost, I can’t remember the last time I read cringe-worthy smexy scenes until yesterday. This little holiday novella was a 5ish star storyline/romance with a 3ish star for smexy scenes, because *cringe.* Example:

❄️ “𝗔𝗻𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗮𝘆…” 𝗛𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻. “𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿.” ❄️

Nope, that made me feel awkward. They’ve known each other an hour tops. No previous talks of kinks. Weird asf. Moving on though, the storyline was adorable. Kellan is fostering twin 4 year old girls and a few days before Christmas a puppy he was waiting for became available so he sets out in a blizzard to get it. Of course his car breaks down and the small-town, grizzly mechanic with a soft heart, Eli, comes to the rescue and these two have a hot, awkward to me night, before they go their separate ways. Of course it only lasts a few weeks before these two know they’re it for each other.

So sweet, y’all. The twins, the flirting, the pining…done so well. Maybe that awkwardness was all me so I still gave it a good rating, but I’m not sorry I read it.

Kellen is a single guy who is fostering twin girls that he has built his life around. He is planning to adopt them and wants them to know that their family is for real so he wants to give them a puppy for Christmas. He has to travel to a farm to pick the puppy up through snowy weather that suddenly gets worse when he is trying to get home. The Hendleys, who he got the puppy from, call their son Eli to check him as they worry that he might not be able to get through on the roads. They were right and Eli rescues Kellen and Pip the puppy. The attraction is instant, they not only stay with him until morning Kellen and Eli realize that though quick the connection is real.
