Pollinators

Rate this book
Welcome to The Planet of Otherworldly Delights. Here, giant insects and sentient plants are the dominant species. Bees are geniuses who live in city hives and work in natural science labs as chemists, botanists, and geneticists. Wasps, who live in quaint mud villages, are strong and loyal warriors who protect their home planet and its many inhabitants…

…so the flyer for the Intergalactic Writer's Conference read.

But the truth of this planet is much darker than any of us ever realized. Here, the ferocious wasps run an organized crime syndicate that supplies black market aphrodisiac honey to the Pollenverse. This erotic honey is made by the mad-scientist bees who gather their extraordinary nectar from gardens filled with predatory plants who kill any pollinator who doesn't submit to their carnal demands…

And on a planet where the insects are the dominant lifeform, who might the enslaved pollinators be?

Humans, of course.

I don't know what I expected but at least I tought it was going to bit weird and it definitely was. All short stories is written as the author being the fmc and kept mentioning the other authors which is something I havnt read before.
The first story had me laughing so much, it just felt very ridiculous and can't say I've read about smutt with "human sized" insects. But with the others I was more used to the idea and it was an okay collection overall. Not really much for the romance or smutt and didn't have much plot other then that. But it was a fun weird read and fun to add it to my collection of monster romances/smutt.

Smutty insects - say what...?

Pollinators is a interesting twist on a group of real authors that write themselves into this story of otherworldly delights. Monsters and Aliens have been a common PNR trope but insectoids that are larger than humans not so much. Each story has a naughty uniqueness that one simply has to read to understand. But the smut combined with a RH undertone is absolutely delicious. It has various kinks, including br33ding that others will likely enjoy as well.

So I wish this was kindle unlimited, but whatever. I didn't finish it. First it's "cute". It's a bunch of authors who are friends who get together and write themselves in to the story. "Cute" but meh. So, I'm already a little eh on it. I find it more annoying than the cute the authors intended. Some serious editing problems with the first story and the way the sex happened was a bit of the more ridiculous nature because it's like not really addressed. While they are writing themselves, I'd rather read about characters because honestly I wasn't a big fan of their story selves. I did not finish it. I had such a high hope in regards to the dark twisted nature this could have taken. Those hopes plummeted and I'll quote big bang for this .. "like blue ice falling out of a plane lavatory."

I wanted to read this as a joke. And the truth is the joke was on me as I was the sucker who paid £3.99 for a book not on KU that I abandoned after chapter 2. Please don't read this unedited self-insert fanfiction that I'm sure the authors had an absolute laugh getting shitfaced whilst writing. It should have remained unpublished or composted into a better developed story.

If you want to read this because it will be ironic and funny to read a book about sci-fi sex plants and sex insects - Run the other way! Save yourself!

I definitely liked the anthology idea and having the authors actually write as themselves in this fictional world. Well put together and alot of intense sexual scenes that are refreshingly different from the norm.

This book was such a fun read! I loved the banter between Dani, Jackie, YD, Tia, and Selena! It had me laughing and it pulled me in because the banter was believable. You knew it was four friends having a great time. Where the real fun is though, is the spicy stories about each author's experience on the alien planet that they are taken to and sold on! Each author has a unique experience such as the giant insectoid that greets them on the planet and coniferous plants that get kinky! Each story is a fun and spicy adventure that you're not going to want to miss out on! I HIGHLY recommend this book!

This book was just ok. I thought it was weird that the authors wrote themselves into the story as characters.

They all think they are going to a conference on another planet but really they were trafficked to giant wasp aliens that live in hives.

The world building was minimal. I have no idea how things work on this planet.

But the steamy scenes were steamy if you like swamp thing aliens and wasp like aliens with stingers.
