Easton Wylder, All-Star catcher for the Austin Aces, has had two constants his entire life: his love for the game of baseball and his need to keep his secret hidden. Both define the man he is.
Scout Dalton is trying to make a name for herself. She can step out from behind her father’s shadow by getting Easton back on the field. But working together turns into flirting and flirting leads to fine lines being crossed that if caught, could be devastating to her career.
When an unexpected twist of fate leaves Easton reeling, he’s left questioning the loyalty of everyone around him.
Including the woman who shares his bed.
With his career in limbo, his decision to make an unexpected change leads him to doubt everything – Scout’s love, family loyalties, and whether he can conquer the one obstacle he’s never been able to overcome—his secret.
He may be a man pushed to his limits, but he’s hell-bent on proving his worth—no matter the cost.

Easton is an all-star catcher with a shoulder injury looking for the best fisio to get him back in the field. Scout is the daughter of the best, and is taking his place trying to prove she can do the job as good as her father.
I read the first part of the duet in a sports anthology without knowing It was a duet, and therefore, It finished in a cliffhanger. I was loving the book and then... Finished! So when I saw K.Bromberg un KU I got the duet to finish It.
I loved Easton and Scout together, the chemistry they showed was great.
I didn't get Scout's father insistency with her doing the job his way. Easton's family drama was quite the soap opera in a way.
I really enjoyed how he fought his inner fears and was strong enough to try again after a first failure.
I really enjoyed this book! Firstly, I love baseball, but haven’t followed it in a few years, and this story made me remember why I love it so much! Secondly, I read a lot of “romance” books and get very frustrated with their inability to talk through issues. Not so with Easton & Scout! I loved how they pushed each other to talk about what they were dealing with. And while there were still miscommunications & challenges to move the story along, their honesty & understanding of one another made them much more believable. Bravo Ms. Bromberg!
This was just what I needed. A light hearted pallet cleanser. Really enjoyed it! Scout and Easton were too cute and so in love! Can’t wait for my special edition novel grounds paper book to add to my shelf ❤️
If you’re looking for a book with the perfect balance of swoon-worthy romance, steamy tension, and characters with depth, The Player Duet by K. Bromberg knocks it out of the park! Set in the heart of professional baseball, this spicy romance pulls you in with a story that goes beyond the field and straight into the hearts of its characters.
Scout Dalton, our tenacious heroine, is a physical therapist trying to score a contract with the Austin Ace Baseball team—not just for herself, but for her terminally ill father, whose dream is to work with the big leagues. Scout’s backstory is no joke. Her mom left when she was just five, and her brother, a pro baseball player, passed away suddenly due to a heart condition. That makes her all the more determined to support her dad’s dreams, but it’s not until she meets Easton that she finally does something for herself—choosing someone who actually chooses her.
Easton Wylder is everything you want in a romance hero—charismatic, strong, and a little broken, just enough to make you fall harder. He’s a star baseball player trying to make a comeback after an injury, and the sparks between him and Scout fly from the first meeting. The banter between these two? Chef’s kiss! It’s witty, engaging, and full of tension, but what really gets you are the deeper struggles they face as a couple. Easton’s complicated relationship with his alcoholic mother and his father’s hidden demons give the romance a real emotional punch. Add in Easton’s dyslexia and his struggle to read, and you’ve got layers to a character that make his vulnerability and connection with Scout even more powerful.
I absolutely loved how they leaned on each other throughout the story. Their mutual support felt genuine, not like some fairytale romance. Plus, a spicy romance with no third-act breakup? YES, please! Instead of unnecessary drama, the story focuses on their growth as individuals and as a couple, which was incredibly refreshing. And don’t even get me started on that epilogue—twins named Fenway and Ford?! Adorable overload.
If you’re a fan of sports romance with heart, heat, and a couple you can really root for, The Player Duet is a home run. Bromberg hit all the right notes with this one, giving us a story with enough depth to keep you invested and enough spice to keep you turning those pages.
