Meet Queue-t

Rate this book
Authors Andie M. Long and Anna Bloom come together inspired by recent events to bring you a heartwarming romance and their own tribute to Her Majesty The Queen's reign.

Queenie Smith hates her name. Her parents were royal fans and expected her to be one too. She didn’t think she cared, until The Queen dies and suddenly she’s hit with emotion, feeling nothing about her life is the one her parents dreamed of for her. When an ultimatum at dinner from her boyfriend leads to Queenie deciding to join ‘the queue’, she heads home and packs what she needs for a long wait, determined to honour her parents by visiting the coffin. It’ll give her the time she needs to ponder her life and future.

Trying to keep everyone in the queue upbeat, Queenie notices the man behind her, sullen and alone. The last thing the queue needs is a grump, and so she makes it her mission to cheer him up, even though deep inside she carries a grief of her own she’s allowed to fester.

Sam Ferris is down on his luck. He’s lost his job, wondering where his next rent payment is coming from and stagnating in his pyjamas and despair. The only thing that gets him out of the house is his weekly visit to his mum, who is beside herself with grief about a woman she’s never met.

Now the television is showing nothing but The Queen, just when he’s had to cancel Netflix. As he hears about people waiting in line for hours to see her coffin, he wonders what would possess them to do that? Well, for Sam it’s one too many beers and a guilt trip from his mum. Suddenly, he’s in the queue with a photo of his mother in his hand. There he meets a whole host of strangers who he’s going to be stuck with now for hours, including the most annoying, chirpy woman he’s ever met.

As the hours pass and the camaraderie and emotions of the event exacerbate, Queenie and Sam will find that just when you believe you’re alone, a momentous occasion shows you that strangers can become friends, and maybe even something more…

This one was cute. A cast of strangers are waiting in line to say goodbye to the queen. Sam and Queenie both have their reasons of being there. The last half of the book are Sam and Queenie bumping into each other a bit of missed connection opportunities. So there is an emotional aspect parts to this story, but I find it was quite a refreshing read. I enjoyed it.

Cute cosy romcom

When Queenie ques at the queen's funeral she bumps into the grumpy Sam and they endure each for eight hours. A small shift in how they feel about each other takes place.
Queenie is dedicated to her disabled brother after a car accident that killed their partents. The last thing she's looking for is a new man...
A warm and cozy romance giving you that hea feeling. Great down-to-earth characters, well defined and a super funny story about second chances and handling grief and loss.
Truly fantastic book

fantastic

What an amazing book and such a beautiful tribute to our Queen. The book was full of love, compassion and humour and I loved the battles fought within the characters to get them to where they needed to be.
Amazing book and well worth a read.

I have had a readers block for a while, nothing gripped me and I haven't finished anything I've started. Until I started this book yesterday. I even stayed up late in bed reading and just finished it. Not even 24 hours after I started it. The perfect sweet fluffy read everyone needs. Really enjoyed it.

Meet Queue-T is the first collaboration between authors Andie M Long and Anna Bloom. It is an opposites attract romance between Queenie Smith and Sam Ferris who meet in the queue to see the Queen lying-in-state. This is an emotional and angst filled story about two people recovering from tragic events in their lives. Meeting each other has a profound affect on them and the experience of being in the queue leads to some revelations and realisations which change their lives forever.

At first this is a Mr Grumpy and Miss Sunshine story but as we learn more about the characters we discover this is just a mask they are both wearing. It is a coping mechanism they use to deal with the tragedies that have happened in their lives. They are two strangers who are stuck in a rut and by meeting they see there could be more to life and that they both have more life to live. I laughed at Queenie’s antics in the queue and felt her struggle with the after effects of those eight hours. Has fate helped them by putting them together in the queue? Will they ever see each other again and if they do, can they act on their feelings for each other?

Understanding what each of them have been through was one thing but dealing with the grief and guilt was something they would have to work through. Sam has locked all his feelings away and has refused to accept what happened, making him grumpy and disillusion with life. Queenie felt guilty over her tragedy and has put her life on hold. Sam realises she cares and puts everyone else first so it is about time someone cared for her, but is she wiling to accept his help and let him into her life. Can this pair open up and let go of their grief, heal together and find happiness.

Hopefully we will get another joint venture from these authors as I really enjoyed this. I liked
it was set around an event that meant so much to a lot of people. I found the story of their meeting was very relatable and possibly what many people experience. For this couple it was only the beginning as we follow their journey and their fight for love.

I've been looking forward to this book ever since I heard about it a few months ago. The Queue was such an intense and unusual experience, more than eight, twelve or even twenty hours with the same people, that I can fully get on board with the fact that people fell in love while waiting in line. I am so thrilled that someone actually wrote about it.

The first part of this book perfectly captured the extremes of what The Queue was like. The cold, the dark, the sights, the realisation of just how long of a wait was ahead. I also loved the descriptions of the aching and tiredness after. I'm on my feet for 12 hours at work I thought I was prepared. Nothing prepares you for it let me tell you.

Much like The Queue this book was so much than I was prepared for. I thought this was going to be a funny, light rom-com. It was but it was also so much more. Queenie and Sam fell in love hard and fast so I loved the fact that they pulled themself up a few times and realised they needed a night off from seeing each other and I loved how Queenie's best friend spoke up about how she felt about how much Sam and Queenie were expressing their love. I loved all the human intricacies on display here it added a relatableness to what was an already great book which I really appreciated.

Meet Queue-t continued a few weeks and months after The Queue and the fact that Sam and Queenie kept finding themselves in a similar situation either of their own making otherwise was an absolute hoot! When I started reading I never dreamt that Queenie and Sam would have such heavy and challenging pasts and family situations. This was all really sensitively written and just another thing that sets this book apart from other romances I've read.

I started and finished this book in a day, publication day no less. I can't remember the last time I did that. This is my first experience of both Andie M. Long and Anna Bloom but I already can't wait for my next. Consider me a fangirl, ladies!

What a way to Kickstart the new year. This is just simply a sublime five-star read, I honestly don’t know why but this one will stay with me so much, as it just blew me away, I was in tears from the first chapter and then laughing so hard I was in tears again. There was something special about Queenie and her passion for others, even grumpy Sam and his not so grumpy heart, they did make me want to shake them a little, but I loved them so hard I didn’t want to for long. I don’t know if it was the loss of the Queen and my Nanna who was my personal Queen in quick succession, and this brought it all to the surface again, or just the whole moment of watching everyone que and thinking how wonderfully British it was and how amazing it was with everyone pulling together, but this story truly pulled at my heartstrings. The other thing that really did it for me with this one, aside from the joy of seeing everyone with their hearts on their sleeves was the portrayal of some of the secondary characters such as Sam’s mum and Charlie, they could have just been hidden and two dimensional as some authors would portray them, but this pair showed the true reality and joy that comes with the lives we get than the ones we think we should get. If you read one story this year, please make it this one as you wont be disappointed, it will make you all warm and fuzzy inside and remind you of the joy that is brought to life by being simply British.

Well what can I say?! This book is amazing!

This is the story of Sam and Queenie, both have their own reasons for joining the well documented queue to see the Queen lying in state. These two are complete opposites but complement each other so well. I loved Queenie from the start, Sam was harder to like to begin with but once he opened up I remember feeling I am gonna enjoy watching you fall head over heels. Their story was incredible and I think it is a credit to both authors to turn something that was so sad into something that was uplifting and romantic. They both have things to work through but what I liked about it was that it was relatable to normal people.

The two authors are well established authors on their own but sometimes when you get two authors writing a story, you can sometimes find you can tell who wrote what parts ..... Not in this book. It felt totally seamless. I was a little skeptical about this at first but hands down I loved this book. It is current, thought provoking, funny and gives you all the feels at the same time. I would recommend this 100 times over it's that good. Go out and download it!

Wow. What a fabulous story. I love what inspired the author’s to write this story. Queenie and Sam find themselves in the long queue to pay their respects to the Queen and their first meeting has them at odds. But Queenie is ever the optimist and as the hours pass, they find a kinship with their goal to honor the queen for their parents. But they get separated at the end without sharing their contact information. Each of them are struggling with events that happened in their life. For Queenie, a car accident that left her brother injured has her stuck, carrying guilt that it wasn’t her as she puts Charlie first while she sets all her dreams and plans aside. Sam had his heart broken which derailed his plans and has him floundering a bit. But his one constant is supporting his mother. How these two reconnect is by chance yet I felt fate knew that these two needed each other. I loved how this relationship evolved and built. They both had to face some hard truths and be willing to trust someone else with their burdens, realizing that they didn’t have to carry the load alone. Truly a wonderful journey to finding love.

As a fan of Andie, I was really looking forward to this one which is a collaboration with another author. Boy was it a cracker.

The first part of the book is based in the queue which everyone, regardless of their idea of the Royal family, knows about. That queue is, of course, the one in London of people waiting for hours on end to pay their respects to the Queen by walking past her coffin as she was lying in state. The fact this story is so current to what we as a country went through during the last quarter of 2022 makes it seem more personal.

The second part of the story is more about the characters we meet in the queue finding each other again. There was added emotion throughout from both of the main characters, which helped add to the appeal of the book.

I loved this story so much, and not only for the story itself. ‘Meet cute’, or ‘Meet Queue-t’ as it is in the title, is a quote from one of my favourite movies of all time.

I look forward to reading more from this collaboration in the future.

What a wonderful, entertaining story !!!!!
Who would have thought to write a story about the queues that formed to honour the Queen well let me just say for this is certainly a hit. It’s a well written, entertaining story by the talented Andie M Long and Anna Bloom and I loved everything about Queenie and Sam’s journey.
Queenie and Sam meet when they find themselves in a long queue while waiting to pay their respects to the Queen. Looking to while the time away they form a friendship but they are separated before they can exchange contact details. This couple are both struggling with events beyond their control and their life’s are not easy but fate seems intent on bringing them together and a chance meeting just when they needed it has them looking for strength from each other. So can Queenie and Sam learn to trust again, one click now to find out.
This book has it all, I smiled, I swooned, I sighed and at times I held my breath as I found myself cheering this couple on. A great read that I highly recommend.

A lovely way to meet a mate, in the queue to see the Queen lying in state. The Queen just recently died so Queenie has this moment where she needs to attend for her parents. Sam, also standing in for his mom, is a first rate grumpy Gus. They have a realistic meet cute and then there’s this running joke about queues throughout the book, very cute. Their relationship has its own problems, life and career take a big part but it’s how they deal with it that could make them stronger. As an American some of the terms were unfamiliar but not hard to puzzle together, it’s an interesting lesson on terms from the UK. I was gifted a copy from the author and started immediately, the perfect book to start the new year.

This book co-written by Andie M.Long and Anna Bloom about a couple meeting while queuing to pay their respects to the Queen was just perfect.
Sam and Queenie both have their reasons for being in the queue and their story continues afterwards. The event of the queue is just the beginning.
Heartwarming, funny, sad, realistic, spicy, this book tugs at all the right places and it grips you from the very first page...
At times Sam & Queenie's struggles are so close to reality and completely relatable.
Their fates are so similar, yet both deal with it completely opposite.
A complete must read and all the emotions will hit you while reading.
Perfect in every way!!!

Meet Queue-t is penned by two of my favourite authors – Andie M. Long and Anna Bloom. This is their first-time co-writing together and I certainly hope it isn’t the last.

I loved Queenie and Sam’s story. I thoroughly enjoyed their initial meeting. It happens during one of the most memorable moments in British history and for me that part of the novel feels like a heart-warming tribute to our late Queen. There are many different aspects to the storyline that brought out various emotions – especially Sam and Queenie’s individual stories - and I loved this.

This is a story that I recommend to you to read. I’m certain you’ll enjoy it as much as I have.

Remember when the country was mourning the passing of the late Queen Elizabeth , when we call came together, saw strangers standing together waiting 8 hours plus to pay their last respects. Strangers soon became friends and in Sam & Queenie’s case that time spent queuing changed them both more than they could of imagined.
Meet Queue T is a snapshot of that time, with all the ups and downs of a good romance read.
Andie M Long & Anna Bloom have jointly written Meet Queue T together, I couldn’t work out who wrote what, but together they have written a fabulous read

You never know who you are going to meet standing in a queue especially a queue on one of the saddest days in our history but that is what happens to Queenie and Sam who just felt the need for different reasons to wait in line to pay their respects for our late Queen.. Queenie and Sam’s banter is fun to watch and they have a cracking chemistry going on. They have both experienced sadness in their lives and now it’s their turn to be happy.. Honest I didn’t know what to expect in this book but once I started reading I couldn’t put it down and I really enjoyed it…

When I heard about this book, I knew I just needed to read it. This isn't my usual type of read. And when it was released I dived right jn and so glad I did.

I remember sitting and watching on tv how the ppl queued to pay their respects to the Queen and then the ceremony when they carried her coffin to its final resting place. So it was something that joh could easily visualize.

I enjoyed that these were two very flawed humans that had their own baggage to deal with and work through whilst trying to live up to someone else's memory/ expectation.

Worth all the stars.

This is the definition of a grumpy/sunshine trope. The story has been so lovingly created that it incorporates what is and will always be a huge part of our history. I felt touched reliving the loss of our queen but also discovering more details about how people spoke, sang and events that happened whilst queuing. Although the basis of this book sounds sad its truly beautiful and worth a read!

What a fab read by these two authors.
I think everyone can relate as it's mostly a subject that everyone went through.
When the Queen passes, Queenie and Sam join the cue to pay their condolences for different reasons but it starts off a friendship when they end up standing beside each other.
Can completely relate to Queenie with her relationship with Charlie, absolutely heartbreaking and difficult but it was beautiful to see.

This was definitely rushed, but I really did enjoy Queenie and Sam's story. It started weak and got stronger. Their rollercoaster was fun to follow. I would have given it a four if it weren't for the editing errors, especially Sam's name being inadvertently used for Charlie's late in the book. 🤦

I was extremely lucky to read this book super early and having queued myself to pay my respects this book meant a lot to me and the dream team of Andie and Anna did an amazing job with this one.

I was captivated throughout and loved Queenie and Sam! From the very beginning when they met their banter was entertaining and the chemistry was electric!

Having been in the queue the comraderies, and the connections between people is amazing, not something I have experienced on this level before and these two did an amazing job of bringing that to life in this book.

I won't give too much away as you honestly need to experience and enjoy this yourself but it is one hell of a must read!
