Was a little peace and quiet too much to hope for?
Mac Montgomery spent two years watching his father play matchmaker for his brothers and their wives and as the last Montgomery standing, he knew it wouldn't be long until all eyes would be on him. While he couldn't deny that things had worked out well for his siblings, the last thing that Mac wanted was to get married and settle down.
He hadn't counted on his father not wanting to set him up with anyone.
And he hadn't counted on Gina Micelli.
After more than a dozen years away from her beloved family friends, Gina Micelli comes home to take care of her ailing father. Some of her most cherished memories are of the times she spent with the Montgomerys - and her crush on Mac. She was a child when she moved away, but now as a grown woman, the thought of seeing Mac again actually has her wondering at the possibilities.
Ever the responsible one, Mac makes sure that Gina is taken care of during such an emotional time. He wants to see her as a friend, as the girl that he remembers from his youth. Unfortunately, the beautiful woman she has grown into has all thoughts of a platonic relationship flying out the window. Torn between honor and passion and peace or chaos, all Mac knows is that his life is never going to be the same.
The timing is all wrong but for two people fighting for control over their own lives, their response to one another is anything but
Samantha Chase is a New York Times and USA Today bestseller of contemporary romance that’s hotter than sweet, sweeter than hot. She released her debut novel in 2011 and currently has more than seventy titles under her belt – including THE CHRISTMAS COTTAGE which was a Hallmark Christmas movie in 2017! She’s a Disney enthusiast who still happily listens to 80’s rock. When she’s not working on a new story, she spends her time reading romances, playing way too many games of Solitaire on Facebook, wearing a tiara while playing with her sassy pug Maylene…oh, and spending time with her husband of 30 years and their two sons in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
Book 2..well it had my emotions all over the place in a way that was unforgettable! (In short...it was amazing!)
Book 3, Stay With Me, was by far my favorite though! This story had so much depth, so much to overcome and such a sweet, sweet ending! I think I am spoiled for all other books now!
Samantha's decision to keep sex behind closed doors is a toughie in today's world of over sexual books and movies. I'm sure that she has caught crap for the decision...hell I've read a few reviews on here that all but bashed an amazing book just for not sharing the nitty gritty...
come on people!!
A book does not have to be erotic to be romance! When did this silly notion pop up?!? This book has more romantic moments in the first few chapters than some erotic books have combined!
The characters are beautifully developed and so damn addictive that I honestly have no choice but to buy the next one! (I just have to know!!) The relationships grow and flow in such a natural and realistic way. The emotions that this book evoked were so strong that I was ugly crying and sobbing to the point that my hubs was concerned!
I adore Samantha's writing style and, while I enjoy a good sex scene from time to time, I fully support her decision to leave it to the readers imagination :)
Okay, I have ranted enough...just remember that this series is abso-freaking-lutely amazing and should definitely be on your TBR list!
I have loved reading all the stories in this series involving the Montgomery brothers........and their parents of course. I have to admit that the story of Mac & Gina has to be my absolute favorite. Watching as these two characters came out of their "shells" and learning how to really live was truly amazing. yes, this had a heartbreaking storyline of a close friend of the family dying but I feel that the author did an incredible job with showing the real emotions with such a sensitive subject all through out the story. I really enjoyed that the brothers, Lucas & Jason (& their wives) were very much a part of this story. Even though the 3 brothers had a typical sibling relationship, at times the interactions between them were quite comical.
And who could not fall in love with their parents, William & Monica?? Everyone wants parents like them. lol
I would highly recommend this series by Samantha Chase to anyone who enjoys reading a series that involves a family. Any reader will enjoy getting to know and being a "part" of the Montgomery family
As with the other two books in this series, Samantha Chase does an excellent job of telling this story. It centers on the oldest and last single Montgomery Brother, Mac. Gina has loved Mac since she was 13 and hung out with him as they were growing up. Mac is seven years older than Gina so as a teenager he didn't always want her around. Ten years later finds Gina coming back to town, because her father is dying and is in the hospital. She wants to spend what time he has left with him and his best friend Mr. William Montgomery. This is Macs father. Gina stays with the Mongomerys and sees Mac quite often. They start to develop feelings for each other and of course there is always problems. Will Mac ask Gina to stay or let her go back home. You have to read this one to find out. really a good read
I loved this family and their closeness with one and other .. this book had me crying at times but also had me smiling as will and was a true page turner.. I love this book along with the other two in the series and find this last installment beautiful and heartfelt ..What a outstanding series this was and I thank this truly talented author for allowing me too take this journey with these wonderful characters., this truly was a beautiful story and I wish we all had a William Montgomery in our lives <3 <3 :)
This one took me a while to get through, not because there is anything inherently wrong with the story, just that the author had a habit of switching Points of View in the middle of a scene at the beginning of her career. It's hard for me to bounce around like that, so sometimes I'd get frustrated and set the book aside for a while.
However, this is a sweet story about work-a-holic Mac and Gina, who is back to get reacquainted with her dying father. Mac's heart is in the right place, with his desire to let Gina find herself and truly separate from her mother's thumb. He just needed to talk with her about what she wanted.
Gina's relationship with her estranged father was so heartbreaking to read about. Here was another man who wanted to make her life easier without actually talking to her to find out what she wanted. Reading about them putting aside their hurt feelings and spending some very special time together was beautiful, and I cried real tears as she said her final farewell.
Gina's mother was a piece of work. I felt a little like her explanation to Gina at the end was just thrown in to be dramatic, since none of her previous behaviour indicated latent feelings for her ex. (If she'd truly regretted the divorce she should have visited him on his death bed. But whatever.)
As for the lack of truly steamy scenes, I was not bothered. I've read stories where there is so much build up, hot and heavy kissing and dirty talk, that when we instead get a fade-to-black moment I feel cheated. I didn't feel that here. These books aren't strictly about sex, but about connections and relationships. The author does not skimp on those.
It was nice to catch up with the brothers and their wives. It'll be interesting to read about their relatives being matched up, once I can get around my discomfort with the bouncing POVs.
Stay with Me by Samantha Chase is one exceptionally hot, sweet, and addictive story. Readers everywhere will instantly fall in love with all the characters and not just the main ones. A romance that sizzles with each turning page. Samantha Chase knows how to lure her readers in from just the first few lines. Her stunning plot gets hotter as two friends now adults are placed together everyday so close to each other. Gina was seven years younger than Mac but followed him everywhere. He was the one out of the three brothers who caught her heart when she was a teenager. But soon er parents’ rocky marriage turns to a divorce with her mother taking her away from her father, home, and friends. Everything she ever knew was left behind. And her father never chased after her or her mom. Gina thought it was because her father never cared but soon she is taken back to the place she left. Her father has very little time left and is dying. His best friend helps with planning on getting Gina matched up with his oldest son, Mac. But will these two be able to feel a connection. Mac is sent to to pick Gina up at the airport. But what he wasn’t expecting was for her to be all grown up and gorgeously beautiful. Just seeing her has him all messed up. His father though forces Mac to watch over Gina while she’s back visiting her father in the hospital. Soon things get heated in more than one way when the two are left alone. But can Mac, a super control freak be brave enough to let in Gina? Or will he lose her forever? Stay with Me is definitely one read readers won’t want to miss. Overall, I rate it a five out of five stars.
Mac is the oldest of the Montgomery brothers and he is feeling a bit tense, what will his younger brothers getting married and a baby being born he is tired of the comments and well wishes. He doesn't begrudge his brothers' happiness but deep down he wants that for himself.
His father William set up his two younger brothers and it ended well but his father refuses to set Mac up with anyone because he doesn't do commitment. His past dates have lasted 3 days. Enter Gina, an old family friend who moved to CA when she was a teenager. Her dad and Mac's dad are best friends.
Her dad is gravely ill and wants to see Gina. She comes home to see him and sees Mac again for the first time in years. Sparks fly. You need to read the story to find out what happens next.
This story brought tears to my eyes, it pulls on the heartstrings. The scenes between Gina and her father are bittersweet and Ms. Chase drew me in as if I was observing the action from her father's hospital room. It was a great story with quite a few tears but also with some love and laughter sprinkled through out the story.
I am looking forward to William's matchmaking skills as he hones in on his nephews and niece! Can't help but to fall in love with the Montgomery's myself.
This is a nice sweet romance with fade to black; light making out, intimate scenes. Mac's dad has been setting his brothers up; his other two brothers are happily in love, but Mac isn't having any of it. When his dad suggests that he help family friend, Gina, when she comes back to town to see her dad before he dies, Mac tries to keep his distance from Gina. The attraction is intense though, and these two start getting closer. I liked Mac okay; he's gruff, but has a good heart. Gina is a bit of a brat; she's trying to be independent because she has let her mom rule her life for too long, which it's great, that she's realizing she needs to be independent, but I still didn't vibe with her personality. Also, I wasn't fond of the POV changing within the same chapter; I do like the dual POV aspect, but I just prefer if the dual POV is split between chapters instead. I listened to the story on Audible. The narrator did a good job; he fit both the male and female roles. Overall, I like the story, but it didn't amaze me.
This story in the series I have to say I enjoyed so much more than the first two. It really tugged at my heartstrings. The eldest of the Montgomery brothers, Mac is not down with everything that's been going on. He doesn't want to settle down though he is happy for his brothers. He believes that his father is aiming for him next. Gina is returning home to spend time with her father in his final days. Her father and William Montgomery have been best friend for years and Gina grew up with the brothers. She's always had a crush on Mac. Though Mac is asked to spend time with Gina to make sure she's ok, William tells him that he's not the one for her. I totally thought this was reverse psychology but who knows. The two hang out have fun and fight. I loved the relationship they have as old friends. There was a slow realization of how Mac really felt for Gina but when they finally collided, it was fierce. I wasn't ready for the end. It broke my heart and bright back some bad memories but it felt good to get those feelings out.
I love every part of this story. It has the romance, but it also had several beautiful love stories between a father and daughter, two lifelong best friends, brothers and then a father and a son. I cannot remember the last time I smiled and also cried so much through a book. This is a beautifully written book that had me laughing at the snark and blooming of Gina and sobbing at other scenes.
As with all SC books I found the characters well developed and I look forward to how with each book we learn more about the Montgomery’s. Here we see more of the dynamic between the brothers, get to catch up with the first two couples, and learn so much more of William and he is quickly becoming a favorite of mine!
Gina comes home to say goodbye to her dying father, but what she does not expect is the support of Mac, who she had a crush on when they were younger. But is Mac just helping her out because of a sense of loyalty to her father or does the feelings he has for her honest and true. Can this workaholic put Gina first or is Gina once again left alone to pick up the pieces? This is an emotional story, from laughter to tears, this book had it all. Another great installment in the Montgomery series.
Gina and Mac both had that"Love at first sight " moment, but both guard themselves against their attraction, as Gina is here for her chronically ill father, and not for a love affair. Can they sort their hearts and minds out? I know the answers, but you need to read this adventure for yourself, it is an intriguing scenario.
I have very much enjoyed the first three books of the Montgomery family. All three of the brothers was so interesting that I couldn't put the books down. Everything was so real and the emotions were real as well. The guys were a little dim-witted, but in the end there're very real and loving books.
I loved keeping up with the Montgomery Brothers. Gina was sure a treat! Mac was the most stubborn of them all! I can't wait to see where this series goes now that there are no more of his children for William to match up.
I think this one was my favorite of the series so far. Mac is determined to not let his dad claim he succeed in matchmaking again. Gina has had a crush on Mac for years. She’s all grown up now and needs support more than ever.
Favorite of the series so far! This one packed and emotional punch that sets it apart from the rest of the series and kept me turning the pages. I absolutely loved Mac and Gina.
Loved it!! Way to go William. You will get grand kids yet. Just continue on!! Cause you sure got the knack for it. Again, love this series. SOOOO romantically written.
This was a good series although I see there are more . This series was a little bit tame for me and what I usually read but. All in all it was a good story.
I couldn’t get more than 20 min in to it while listening on audible. Wow, Emma is so annoying I couldn’t imagine listening to the whole book about her.
