Unraveling is a terrifying trip into madness. Michael has repressed the trauma and horror of past events. Now, as a husband and stepfather facing many life struggles, the stress drags Michael back to face the past.
Perrie creates a scary landscape as we watch a “normal” individual struggle with mental health issues in a spiral of violence and confusion. What horrible event has Michael hidden, even from himself? Like fingernails on a chalkboard, the author creates a realistic descension into madness that terrifies yet mesmerizes the reader, so we are unable to look away.
