Carl didn’t set out to be a Wizard in Blackmoth. He’d never heard of Blackmoth. And he wasn’t a Wizard. He was just this guy from Earth who got pulled through a Quantum Rabbit Hole. Not a wormhole... a Rabbit Hole. Who knew that was even a thing? But it was, and Carl got pulled through one and landed in the aftermath of a battle where the locals didn’t understand why Carl didn’t have a tail.
The little room isn't a jail cell, but it is locked from the outside and Carl’s hosts are treating him like a captive. For now. And they will probably keep doing so until they get a coherent answer about his lack of a tail. All Carl can do for now is try to be a polite and tidy involuntary guest. He’s been in this room for a few weeks now, but today, something is different...
This author is inconsistent for me. I have liked quite a few of her earlier book series such as the Nogud and Shrine Maidens, but lately a lot of what she has written have not appealed to me.
I was pleasantly surprised that An Accidental Wizard in Blackmoth : Quantum Rabbit Hole Book #1 reminds me of her earlier books.
This book reminds me of Mark Twain's A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. While similar to Twain's book (i.e.- A person is transported to another reality/dimension where everyone is convinced he is a wizard) it differs in that in this new reality everyone is descended from rabbits, and polyamory is common.
One of the things that I didn't like about this book was the instalove between the characters. I would have preferred a longer dating period, but then again I am not sure where the author is heading with this series so wonder why it was so important that the MC gain a harem of 5 does so quickly.
Typical of the author's books, the sex is not safe and is fairly vanilla. I would say the sex scenes are a hard R or maybe a light X rateing. Lesbian sex is mentioned as a possibility but not detailed.
I am looking forward to the next book in this series, as I am curious where the author is taking the story.
That being said, it is a five star book. The writing, the characters, the pacing, it is all fine. I just like more story and less romance. Once I read the forward, I expected this outcome. It was very exact and correct. This is a good book, just not for me.
I picked this up not knowing what to expect. What a fun and exciting adventure this turned out to be. I don’t know if there is more to the story planned, but I am thankful.
I feel that this is the best book by Coltrane and company there is and I hope the saga doesn't end. It has a Wind in the Willows quality to it with just the right amount of sex thrown in. Enjoy!
