writing the first ever rating for this book just because i can!

i bought this for my history class and to prepare for my exam—i wouldn't have read this book under different circumstances, but it was an okay read nonetheless. it was very well written in a way that made it easy to follow and didn't just bombard the reader with facts and numbers. it was also very well researched and spanned the entire history of south africa, beginning with the evolution of mankind itself, until the present day. the final chapter also included an overview on the country's possible future.

i did learn a lot of things, many of which i haven't been aware of before, so this read wasn't a complete waste of my time, even though it took me way too long to finish it.
