Annora (a phantom) can bring souls to and from the afterworld. Before dying, her mother tells Annora’s uncle about her daughter’s powers which he ends up exploiting. After years of torture Annora is able to escape before he has a chance to sell her.

The story begins with Annora working at a gym when she saves her boss from being killed by a group of wolves. He takes her to a school for supernatural students and moves her (and her pet ferrets) into a dorm with 4 men he suspects are her fated mates. Camden (Lizard), Xander (Gryphon), Mason (Troll) and Logan (the cutest little fox/kitsune) quickly bond with Annora and fiercely protect her from danger while training her to eventually fight her dad who they know will come for her.

There is also a secondary storyline in which Annora and her men are tasked with investigating missing students and a mysterious drug that has been inhancing supernatural powers. Annora is then kidnapped by the wolves and finds out the true horrors of the drugs and missing students.

Moving into book two Logan has been taken by Annora’s uncle and she is ridden with guilt over leaving him behind to keep them both alive. We flip back and forth between Logan being tortured and his mates’ desperate struggle to rescue him. Annora’s ferret (Edgar) has also apparently materalized into a man who turns out to be her 5th mate, and also a phantom like her.

Book three focuses on the aftermath of getting Logan back and helping him heal, while also preparing for the inevitable final showdown that will happen when her dad comes. Annora, her mates, and all of the supernaturals she rescued at the end of book one prepare and train together. A side story also includes Annora being kicked out of the university. Her and her men go to the troll lands and she is forced to fight for and publicly claim Mason. After a few more mishaps the group make it to the island where her father and all of the phantoms reside for one final battle.

It breaks my heart how low self esteem these men have as they were all outcasts from their species. They assume Annora will leave them, but time and time again she proves them wrong and shows them their worth. I love seeing their trust in each other grow. I absolutely loved how cute and sensitive Logan was, as well as how flirty and smooth Xander was. Logan’s relationship with the ferret was adorable.

Notes:
- There were random little sexist digs that added nothing to the story. An example of this is when one of the men told an emotional Annora that she “didn’t have time to be a girl” because she needed to act like an alpha. The men were so loving and considerate of their mate, so lines like this seemed to come from nowhere and were out of character.

- Fair warning there are some disturbingly graphic scenes. Near the end of the first book Annora rescues some of the supernaturals after finding them chained to beds with the butterfly parasites feeding on them (while they are alive and groaning in pain). The scene is long and really graphic. There is also a scene where someone is beheaded

- I felt like Edgar should have stayed a ferret because he was a cute little quirky addition to the series that set it apart from so many others I have read. Annora didn’t need a 5th mate, and it bugged me that she tied him to her with their mating tattoo without even consulting her other men.

- Mild OW drama but none of it is reciprocated by the men. Annora forces Logan’s sadistic betrothed to release him of his marriage contract, a random girl also sits in Logan’s lap and kisses him (idk why he lets this even happen…?) but when he catches Annora looking he stands and follows her while letting the woman fall to the floor. Lastly, Edgar has a phantom named Sadie who is trying to get him to return to her. She eventually seems like she accepts Edgar with Annora and I don’t think they ever really loved each other romantically

Great series

I really enjoyed this series. I’ve read the books when each came out and I couldn’t resist re reading the series when I saw the box set came out. Each male in her harem had the right amount of attention, building up their characters so naturally that it is easy to fall for them. Each book we learned more and more about the guys, and it was explained so easily. I found Annora to be a bit whiney in the first two books. I loved her intro though, she was such a badass swooping in and saving Rafe aka Director Greenwood. She was in her element when she decided to back him up, but once at the academy, she turned into the “what if I’m not strong enough, what if I can’t do it” , kind of character for the rest of book 1 and book 2. It got old, the guys were falling over themselves with trying not to scare her away. She was flighty due to being held captive in a basement hundreds of feet underground. I loved how unique her powers were, I don’t think I’ve read another book with same kind of powers. Besides reapers but she’s slightly different. I do wish we got to read more about the guys families. Annora meeting them. I wish there was more to this series period. We were getting to the good part where she kicks butt and changes the world for good while stomping on the baddies that think they can rule the world. Seriously, great plots, great series and an enjoyable re read.

Awesome, must read series! Just loved it ❤️

Once I started this series, it was painful to put it down. I just wanted to keep on reading!

The world and characters that the author has created, just leap from the page. And it's such a refreshing storyline, with a plenty of action, heat and a combination of original abilities within the harem.

I will definitely be re-reading this series, as I Ioved the FMC and her guys, and was rooting for them all the way. And cute little Prem. They weren't ones to back down from a fight.

Read this brilliant series now, you won't regret it.

Absolutely wonderful!

I loved this series! Wonderful adventures, adversaries, love and paranormal. I best liked that through all three stories sex was not the prevalent idea. It was what I like to call an “Epic Adventure”. The world was vast and many characters were introduced that I thought were vital to the flow of the books. Each race held importance to the world created by Ms. Brutger. The storyline flowed swiftly at times but had moments do also develop the characters. It was a smooth read.

Phantom Touched

Interesting pnr fantasy. Lots of mates, but no sex. This is a plot driven epic with lots of world building and character development. Our heroine is horribly abused by her uncle who discovers she doesn't die and tortures her throughout her adolescence. She finally escapes, joins an academy and meets a team of magical misfits who become her mates. Each mate has a unique history and power and resolving their issues is a part of the story. Good story, very long and well written.

So good, but that ending..

I loved this series! My issue is with the ending of the series. Not all of the issues are handled, it’s more of just one bad guy being gone and that’s the ending we get. I was hoping that there was another book, I’d love to see Logan’s family actually ask for something, the integration of Phantoms, and then the growing pains of integration for everyone, including Phantoms and Reapers. I absolutely loved the series otherwise!

I loved the whole journey with the characters. This author is a great storyteller. I have read many of this authors books and have not ever walked away disappointed. As she keeps writing, I will keep reading.

I enjoyed this trilogy. It is well written and kept my attention. Twists n turns of the story are great as is the ending. I could read more of this group and of other characters.

Fantastic series

This story is better than I imagined. I love that the phantoms are basically descendants of witches, dark witches. It's a really good storyline and the spice level 2-3, I was expecting more but the story made up for it

Got a bit bored partway through, came back and couldn’t remember much about the characters, but didn’t want to go back and reread. Interesting concept, but felt really rushed at the end.
