*PART 2 OF A DUET*

My world is on fire, and I’m obsessed with the girl who lit the match.

Bloodied knuckles and a lifeless body at my feet confirm it: Penny is my demise.

My gentlemanly facade is nothing but a memory.

My sins are seeping through my shirt like ink.

I tried to leave her. Couldn’t do it.

I tried to snuff the life out of her. Couldn’t do that, either.

So we’ll slow dance in the flames until I’m nothing but ash and embers.

I’ll only rise like a phoenix when she’s gone.

The problem is, I’d never let her go.

No, she’d have to run far, far, away to escape me.

And maybe she will if I just told her the truth:

I own the Sinners Anonymous Hotline.

And I’ve listened to every call she’s ever made.

DARK MAFIA ROMANCE - ENEMIES TO LOVERS - AGE GAP - SLOW BURN

SOMME’S NOTES:

Sinners Consumed is part two of a duet. Rafe & Penny’s story starts in Sinners Condemned, which will be out September 7.

Reread ate. Read this book in one sitting. I CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF THEM!!!

—————————-

RAFE VISCONTI THE MAN THAT YOU ARE!!!!!!!!!! No guys I can’t I can’t I can’t IM GAGGGGEDDDDDDD I HAVE NO WORDS I CANNOT SPEAK!!! This man has officially ruined me. THIS MAN IS SO PATHETICALLY DOWN BAD I ACTUALLY CANNOT TAKE IT!!!! You want to see a man grovel?!!! Get on his knees for her?!!!!!! Ya. Ya. Ya. No like I’m so obsessed with both of them. Rafe and Penny forever own a piece of my heart. I aspire to be like Penny in my next life, the bad bitch that she is!!! I will never be the same.

“Since when did you start drinking vodka?”
“Since you said you wouldn’t kiss me if I drank whiskey.”

BYEEEEEEE. Soul leaving my body.

She was walking this man like a a god damn dog. She literally made him pay her $100 for every single kiss, I cannot. He googled “how to grovel” goodbye. He built her a book shelf with all of her favorite “for dummies” books. HE GAVE HER HIS AMEX WITH THE PIN because he was so desperate to touch her this man was BEGGGGGGGGGINGGGGGGG!! The same man who literally claimed to hate her but found out she can’t sleep on her own so he lets her fall asleep in his car while he watches over her. No I’m gonna throw up this should be illegal. THE WAY HE GETS DO JEALOUS WHEN ANYONE SO MUCH AS LOOKS AT HER. No i need to be sedated. I will be rereading this every year. No mafia romance will ever compare.

Seriously, these books had no business being so good.

The angst and tension of book #1 in this duology blows and ends in a great sequel. It’s the good thing about having no expectations whatsoever, I started this thinking nothing of it and both books have surprised me greatly.

Now… give me Gabe. And probably will read psycopath Rory too 😍

this was 300 pages of heated moments, painful wanting, longing, pining, pussy throbbing scenes, and constant heavy breathing. i fear them, i adore them, and i want to carve their names on a tree bark ♥ 🎀👹 (that is my level of commitment)

what gags me is how utterly, irrevocably down bad Rafe is for Penny. like this man is non-functional without her presence. he's so pathetically down bad he went as far as googling how to grovel just to win his girl back. "Come home, Queenie. Come home and let me worship you every day for the rest of your life." why did my vision blur when i read that?!! ...if i ever see Rafe in person one day just know i won't be the same woman again

and Penny, the QUEEN that you are.!! 🤭 a wicked smile stretched across my lips every time she put Rafe in his place. the way she had him on a LEASH! i just love women that humble their men 🧎‍♂️🤌

my only issue tho is that reading this felt more like a bonus chapter stretched thin than an actual book. it could have definitely cut out some of the filler, tbh. i felt like i was reading the same sentence over and over, and my eyes were getting tired. 🫩

but regardless, i ate this shit up! 10/10 would suffer through the pacing again for that payoff. 👌

i have 156 highlights on a 320ish page book… what does that tell you?

rafe and penny are god tier, truly. i am so obsessed with them it’s not even funny. penny is one of the best heroines i’ve ever read. she’s such a ball buster and makes him work for it every. single. step. of the way and i love it.

rafe is quite literally the world’s biggest simp and by the end of the book he’s paying her $100 + tip to kiss her… every single time. I MEANNNNNNN.

their chemistry was scorching hot and the books are funny af. matt was so funny and the interactions between all the brothers and rory and the brothers was so good.

i’m a little stitious, to quote michael scott, and i loved that their relationship was based so much on fate and coincidences. they had little easter eggs for their relationship for years.

๋࣭ ࣪ 🀣 “Because even though I’m unlucky with you, I feel even unluckier without you.” ♛₊⊹

-ˏˋ4 ☆ˊˎ-

I’m gonna start by saying this shouldn’t have been a duet. Did I have an absolute blast while reading this? Totally! But it doesn’t make sense making this a duet, it could’ve been done in one book. I thought maybe in this one the plot would be addressed more, since there are so many hints at it, but no. Nonetheless, the romance in this is so f*cking good that I still loved it regardless of plot.

I’d laugh in disbelief, had the little brat not ruined my life. Because now, as the harsh winter sun streams through the portholes, dancing over her skin and highlighting the red hair, it’s obvious she’ll be my downfall. Just fucking look at her.

It did make me a bit frustrated because it had everything to have a fantastic dramatic plot and I feel like the author wasted it. There’s a particular scene where something happens and the chapter ends on a cliffhanger and then that’s never picked up, and suddenly everything was resolved. I just wanted to see what had happened in between.

“Guess I just can’t stop breaking rules for you.”

But enough whining because everything else was *chef’s kiss* 🤌🏻💋 This part of the duet had everything the first didn’t! So much spice, the cutest moments and the best groveling ever! 🫦

“You eat burgers, although you know they’re bad for you. It’s the same thing, Queenie. You’re bad for me- but I still want to eat you.”

Rafe and Penny enter an enemies with benefits arrangement and the first chapters are filled with spicy scenes, which some might argue is too much but I’d say it’s not enough because I could never get enough of these two! I was so enthralled in them and their intensity that they had me tearing up more than once. 🥹

“Thought you were charming.”
“Not in the bedroom, Queenie.”

The sheer electrifying tension and their chemistry was suffocatingly good! On another level! God tier!!! They also had a bet on who would kiss the other first for a million dollars, which only added to the angst! I was literally screaming at my kindle for them to kiss, but when they didn’t it just made the moment hotter and angstier 🥵❤️‍🔥

“My Queen of Hearts. My beautiful demise.”

.☘︎ ݁˖ Penny was as amazing as ever! I loved how jealous she was over Rafe calling a woman “darling”! I was cheering her like “go Queen, get your man!!!”
‧₊˚🖇️ “Call another woman darling again, and she’ll die crossing the road.”
And the way she made him work for it!! Iconic! She knew she had him wrapped around her finger but didn’t let him off easy, making him literally pay 100$ for each kiss at one point. My girl knows how to put a man on his knees and crawling over hot coals.

“You’ve ruined my life but I’m not strong enough to stop you.”

🃏˚ ༘ * Raphael Visconti, my new bookhusband!! The way I’m in love with this man is not funny! It’s a serious case of obsession! There’s something about a man who says he hates her but would kill anyone for her and obsesses over the littlest things! Oh and he is obsessed! Especially with her thighs 🤭

💍⋆₊˚ He called her Quennie. I swooned.
💍⋆₊˚ He cooked for her. I swooned.
💍⋆₊˚ He drove around in his car while she slept because he knew she couldn’t sleep on her own. I swooned.
💍⋆₊˚ He built her a bookshelf and bought her the “for dummies” book collection because it’s her favorite. I swooned.
💍⋆₊˚ He quit drinking whiskey and started drinking vodka instead because she didn’t like the taste of whiskey and he wanted her to kiss him! I swoooooooned.
‧₊˚🖇️“Since when did you start drinking vodka?”
“Since you said you wouldn’t kiss me if I drank whiskey.”
Do you see what I mean? Immediately feraaaal!
I mean he even killed a man just because he looked at Penny! Obsessed doesn’t even cut it! And the best part, he googled “how to grovel”!! And grovel he does! ARGHHHHH He was on his hands and knees beggingggggggg!! At that point I had butterflies flying left and right in my tummy and was deceased from all the swooning! 😩🤧

“What are you doing here?”
“I’m groveling”

⤷and I’m dead 🫠

Also the side characters were so entertaining! I actually liked Rory and the moments we got of her and Angelo. And her and Rafe watching “Real housewives” together was the funniest. And Nicoooo, I need a book for him right now! He’s just so interesting and attractive! Also I love Tayce, she has such bad ass vibe! If we don’t get a book for her, I’ll cry!

And of course the last and the broodiest Visconti brother! Gabeeee! I’m so ready for his book and to finally know more about him and his psychopathic tendencies!! He’s just so mysterious, and I can’t wait to see him on his knees over a woman! I have a feeling he’ll be my favorite somehow 🤭

“I’ll give you the world in every color if you want it.”

final thoughts
If you read sinners anonymous and didn’t like it (same bestie) please don’t let it be the reason you don’t read this. It’s such a delicious slow burn that will leave you craving more!
I can’t wait to atone now iykwim 🤭

reread 11/20/22 - still obsessed. i need more of them

5/5 ☆

“𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐈’𝐦 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮.”

I could have another book on Rafe and Penny and I still wouldn’t be satisfied. Somme knows how to write angst and tension like no other! Again, I found myself just enamored by their interactions and how much Rafe loves her. He goes through stages in this book where he grapples with what he feels for Penny, how much it physically and mentally overwhelms him as he tries to make sense of it, while at the same time trying to retain his reputation as a Visconti brother. We have this very obvious “masculine” character who has stayed away from women like Penny all of his life, but the instant that he meets her and their relationship develops, he can’t help but risk everything at the chance of being with her. UGH!!!! I need a Rafe.

Rafe and Penny are the epitome of “I hate you but I love you and can’t imagine life without you.” This was honestly everything I wanted and more (except an epilogue. I wanted an epilogue, Somme). The friendships between all the girls, Rory, Penny, Wren, Tayce - LOVE. I want to desperately be a part of that friend group!! We also get to see more of Rory and Angelo and they have gotten even cuter since book 1.

Somme’s writing is engaging, detailed and so, so funny. I cannot wait for the next book. ♡ If you haven’t read this series, this is your sign!!!

Tropes:
-Age gap (FMC is 21, MMC is 34)
-Mafia romance
-Small town romance
-Enemies to lovers
-So. Much. Tension.

This book didn’t need to be a duet, but did I devour it? Hell yes, left no crumbs. I honestly thought it could have wrapped up perfectly in a single 500-page book, but selfishly, I’m so glad it’s a duet because I want to live in this world forever. Every scene had me giggling, gasping, and sometimes even kicking my feet like a giddy fool. It reminded me of that pure, fluttery feeling I’ve been missing for so long, finally, it found its way back to my heart.

I expected a little more plot and action, but instead, it leaned fully into the romance, and honestly, I wasn’t complaining. The tension, the playful banter, and the quiet, heart-melting moments between the characters had me hooked from start to finish. It’s exactly the kind of story you want to binge in one sitting… if only I had the time, which I don’t these days, sadly.

While I can’t give it the same wholehearted praise as the first book, there were moments that felt a bit blank, and I wanted to know more about the world and side characters, it still landed perfectly because it came into my reading life at exactly the right time. It’s cozy, swoony, and just chaotic enough to keep my heart racing, and I can’t wait to see where the rest of the duet takes me.

── .✦

Okay, first of all… I honestly don’t even know where to start because this book COMPLETELY wrecked me, and I mean that in the absolute best way possible. I’m officially obsessed. Every nerve in my body was on high alert, my heart racing, my smile permanently plastered across my face, and my jaw just on the floor for most of it. I couldn’t tear my eyes away for a single second, I was fangirling so hard that I nearly forgot to breathe. Every twist, every interaction, every tiny detail had me gasping, laughing, and gasping again. It was intense, chaotic, swoony, and emotional all at once, like a perfect storm of everything I didn’t know I needed. I’m officially shook, obsessed, and fully committed to reliving every moment over and over again.

── .✦

°˖➴ Penny Price:
“Because even though I’m unlucky with you, I feel even unluckier without you.”
Okay, so yes, it’s the same person, but I felt such a huge change in her character and mindset this time around. I really love her because she’s so different from other FMCs in dark romance books, and that’s exactly why I’m obsessed with how she reacts and feels. In this book, she felt more powerful, more in control, and more complex than in the first one, and I honestly loved that so much. At first, I doubted she would be different, but she completely impressed me, and I’m giving her all the credit she deserves for that growth!

°˖➴ Rafe Viscouti:
“I’ll give you the world in every color if you want it.”
And Rafe Visconti… ohhhhhh, I need to have a serious conversation with the universe, because does any mother out there give birth to a man even remotely similar to him?? Because if yes, I need his coordinates IMMEDIATELY. This man is my Roman Empire. My emotional support menace. My final downfall. Saying I’m obsessed with him is such an understatement it’s almost disrespectful. I haven’t been this unhinged over a dark romance MMC in SO long, and the way he has me screaming into the void?? Horrifying. Tragic. Perfect.

⊱ ۫ ׅ ✧ “Come home, Queenie. Come home and let me worship you every day for the rest of your life.”

Now let’s break down the scenes that genuinely fried my last remaining brain cell:
✨ He quit drinking whiskey, HIS drink, HIS thing, just because she doesn’t like the taste of it. So he switches to vodka so she’ll kiss him?? BABE, BE SERIOUS.
✨ He cooked for her. Not “made a sandwich.” Full-on cooked. Like a future husband in training. Like he’s preparing for domestic life.
✨ He drove around in his car while she slept because he knew she can’t sleep alone… the tenderness?? The devotion?? I was kicking my feet like a twelve-year-old at a boyband concert.
✨ He built her a bookshelf and bought her the entire “For Dummies” collection because it’s her favorite. A man building furniture?? Personal?? For her?? I passed away and came back.
✨ He googled “how to grovel.” I repeat: THIS MAN WENT TO GOOGLE DOT COM and typed THAT. And then chased her everywhere like a lovesick, determined feral shadow. I respect the hustle.
✨ He called her “Queenie.” And somehow managed to make it sound both reverent and possessive. I melted.
✨ He can’t keep his hands off her, meanwhile she’s out here practicing emotional restraint when she’s mad at him. The contrast?? The dynamic?? Inject it into my veins.

⊱ ۫ ׅ ✧ “What are you doing here?”
“I’m groveling”

Rafe Visconti is a problem. The kind of problem you don’t want solutions for. The type of man who makes you forget your standards, your morals, your entire personality.
I fear I might took him away from Penny..
I need twenty more books of him.

⊱ ۫ ׅ ✧ “You’ve ruined my life but I’m not strong enough to stop you.”

⊱ ۫ ׅ ✧ “Hang your stolen clothes up in my closet, make your god-awful lasagnas in my oven. Light your girly candles in every room. I want all of it, all of you. Just come home.”

── .✦

I adored their scenes together. Honestly, every time Angelo, Rory, Nico, and my mysterious king Gabe appeared, it felt like the entire atmosphere shifted. There’s something so heartwarming about watching these men, who once lived in chaos, darkness, and violence, slowly soften because of the people they love. It’s like witnessing sunlight crack through a storm for the first time.

And it just kills me that they’re fictional. Like WHY did the universe give us these men on paper instead of in real life?? Because I swear, I’d adopt Nico as my chaotic best friend instantly, and Rafe… well, Rafe could ruin my whole life and I’d thank him for the experience.

Nico, oh my god, the way he pretends he doesn’t care but loves harder than anyone? The sarcasm. The loyalty. The way he’d burn the world down for the people he loves but still complains the whole time? Iconic. I need that energy in my life.

And GABE… don’t even get me started. You can FEEL that his story is going to destroy every one of our emotional stability levels in the best possible way. The man radiates mystery, depth, restrained emotion, and that quiet intensity that hints at a backstory we are absolutely not ready for. The way he watches everyone, listens more than he speaks, and acts like he’s untouchable? Yeah, no. He’s going to fall the hardest. And the groveling? BABY I am READY. I want to see this serious, composed man absolutely lose his mind for one woman.

And Rory and Angelo? Precious. It’s so refreshing to see them actually growing, evolving, and letting themselves feel something other than rage and duty. This whole friend group is such a beautiful mess, a bunch of emotionally wounded men who somehow found love, loyalty, and a new kind of happiness. It warms my cold little heart.

Honestly… it’s painful that they don’t exist. I need:
➛ Nico as my chaos best friend.
➛ Gabe as my slow-burn obsession.
➛ Angelo as my unhinged hype man.
➛ Rory as that grounding presence.
➛ And Rafe as my religion.

These books grabbed me by the soul and refused to let go.

>>> ──────── .✦

ִֶָ𓂃 ࣪˖ ִִֶֶָ🥀་༘࿐ No explanation needed for why I’m picking this up immediately. The urge is instant. The excitement? Off the charts. I’m genuinely so ready to throw myself into this duet, especially since I had no idea it was a duet to begin with. I really thought everything would be rushed and tied up in one book, but nope… I was so wrong, and honestly? I’m thrilled about it.

So now, this book is officially serving as my big, dramatic entrance into the chaos. <𝟑 .ᐟ

“If I drown, you’re drowning with me. If you burn, I’m burning too. Pick your route to hell, Rafe. The destination and the company are the same.”

This one dragged. And it wasn’t really necessary to have two books for them. One would’ve been completely enough. However, I still liked the fact that he build her a bookshelf for all of her for dummies books, she could only sleep in the passenger seat of his car, he made he a “Penelope price for dummies book”, and he started drinking vodka when whiskey was his drink of choice but nah she hates the taste of it. Anyway Nico’s characters is so freakin nice and interesting to have a book about and dare I say I’m also excited for Gabe’s book??

‘The world is on fire and I want to punish the girl who lit the match.’

So I inhaled this in less than 24 hours. Rafe and Penny!!! I’m obsessed. The push and pull with these two throughout this duet, so so so good. He is so disgustingly down bad. I cannot.
This pathetic mafia man literally kills someone because they looked at her wrong but at the same time he learnt how to braid her hair.
And listen to me, he literally googled how to grovel!!!!!!! Deceased. Dead. Bye. 💀

The Penelope Price for Dummies… I’m done for.

I’m not saying this is the best read ever but I am saying this is dark mafia romance you can inhale in one go and have the best time with it. I don’t make the rules. I just follow them.

'She was all mine, and not a soul on this fucking earth could prize her from my cold, dead hands.'

“I’m off. Got shit to do.”
“Like what?”
“Like Googling what the fuck groveling means.”

Now I need Gabes book yesterday.

55555555/5★

I’m so in love with this book, it’s ridiculous. The way it was just pure and utter perfection has to be CRIMINAL!!! There was literally not a moment where I wasn’t grinning and giggling my ass off (except for the sad parts ofc)!! I literally stared at my phone like that: :D, the whole freaking time while reading this book!!!

It was also such a huge improvement from book 1! While I did love book 1, book 2 was just so much more better for some reason to and it had everything book 1 somehow missed out on.

This book made me feel nothing but joy, giddiness and just every positive emotion there is!! In my eyes, this book had absolutely 0 flaws and I’m just so freaking obsessed with it, Penny and Rafe! Like these two own my heart and soul now and I’m most definitely NOT mad about that!!!

Penny is literally such an ICON!!! The way she literally slept with him one night, only to make him grovel the next day… WHAT A QUEEN!!! And the way she really made him beg for her forgiveness was EVERYTHING!! She was literally walking him like a dog! Bro was on his knees for her!! It was just so epic and so freaking entertaining!!

She’s in general such a strong and badass person! Finding out more about her fucked up past and what she has experienced at such a young age, broke my freaking heart. She’s such an amazing character and I honestly can’t get enough of her. I’m so going to miss reading her POVs!!

Now, don’t get me even started on my love for Rafe! I already thought that Angelo was amazing but Rafe?!?!? Bro took it to the next fucking level!!!!

The way he is so fucking obsessed with her was just too good to be true!!! Like he literally craved to be with her!! If my man isn’t like that, then I don’t want him!

He killed for her, even though he is a pretty clean and neat guy! And he brought her back a finger as a souvenir?!?! ICONIC!! He loved Whiskey but only drinks Vodka from now on, because of the chance of him kissing Penny because she hates the taste of Whiskey!!
He proved to her in so many ways how he is different from all the bad guys she has experienced before!! Anddddd… He literally asked for advice on how to properly grovel!!
In conclusion, I’m in love.

He’s just perfection! And so were the many moments between them!

Like… them not kissing until the 70ish% mark of the SECOND book was just everything!!! And the kiss was just so freaking AMAZING!!! He literally kissed her in the rain because that was the only way she wanted it to happen!!! I’m on my freaking knees!!
He let her use all his money just so she would forgive him but she didn’t care about that because she only wanted him to prove her that he truly loves her!!
And the way these two broke every rule they had about love and relationships, for each other… ugh.. I DIED DEAD!!!

Also… the fact that they’re literally soulmates?!?! The way they’re connected to one another by ‘bad luck’?!?! The fact that they thought that they were doomed and not meant to be together?!?!
Somehow the more I think about them and their relationship, the more I realise how perfect they are for one another!!!

Let’s just say that this book has me in a freaking chokehold which I will most likely never escape from! I will be spending the next few days on tiktok, scrolling through edits and videos of these two and this book!! Like.. how can I not?!?!

Overall, another 6+ star dark romance book for me and I’m most definitely not complaining! Somme Sketcher is a GENIUS!!! And I can’t wait until Gabe’s book comes out in September!! Sooo excited to see where the rest of the series is going!!

This book was full of things that were not in the first book! – Cute moments, spice, groveling, and confessions! 🥹💕

— From the start of this second book, it's full of spicy scenes! Literally, they turned all their fantasies into reality! They entered into an Enemies-With-Benefits agreement because Penny didn't want to fall in love and thought Rafe would treat her like other girls! There was a lot of miscommunication, mostly from Penny's side! She didn't know what she wanted, and Rafe was not letting her go either! Things eventually sorted out, and they became fond of each other! 🤭

— This book was still full of that Luck thing, and I was tired of listening to Rafe saying again and again that she's unlucky for him! That cartomancer seriously messed with him 😂 (though his business was going downhill 🥹). Bro tried to kill her two times 😒 but couldn't because he loved her so much and cannot live without her! Ok? OKAY, I STILL FORGIVE HIM BECAUSE HE IS NICE.

BEST THINGS: 🫶🏻

The groveling was too good! He Googled what groveling really is and followed through with it!
• He apologized many times, took her out for dinners every day, and waited the whole night outside her apartment in case she wanted to sleep in his car! 🥺💖
— He cooked breakfast for her, massaged her for hours, learned how to make a braid because she doesn't know how to, started drinking vodka instead of his favorite whiskey because she doesn't like the taste of whiskey, randomly called her cutie, adorable, and lastly, whenever she asked him the reason for doing all of this, he simply told her, "BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!" 😭💕
AND THAT PENELOPE PRICE FOR DUMMIES BOOK IN WHICH HE WROTE EVERYTHING ABOUT HER WAS SOOOO FUCKING CUTEEEEEEEE! IT WAS THE MOST CUTEST THING I'VE EVER READ! 💗✨💗✨

— Anyway, the side characters were really nice! I really liked Penny's friend Matt's character! 😂😂 He was cute, funny, and caring! His scenes were funny, lmao! Also ✨NICO✨ He was so nice! His character is just ???? ATTRACTIVE ???. I just can't wait for his book! He's too nice! A quiet beast! 🤩

Um, there were many typing mistakes in this book too! I noticed them a few times! Also, Matt's name was written as MAX! (I don't mind that, but if it helps in the future 🤷🏻‍♀️)

I was craving a big plot development, with a lot of action and maybe some consequences for the main characters and family but, for the most part the main focus was on the growth in terms of Penny and Rafe's relationship. I feel like more could have been done with Penny's past and the casino owner playing a bigger, more darker role in this series (and not killed off).

I don't think this part needed to be a duet, and could have been combined into a longer book, with some scenes condensed.

"Since when did you start drinking vodka?”
“Since you said you wouldn’t kiss me if I drank whiskey.”

This duet has METH in it.

I am in love.
Rafe and Penelope did not let me down.
I love how Rafe was no ashamed of groveling and moping
Following Penny like a puppy
Paying for each kiss and begging for her time.

I love how Penny was a heroine with spine and KNEW she had Rafe by the balls

Such a top-tier couple.
Beautiful

“If I drown, you’re drowning with me. If you burn, I’m burning too. Pick your route to hell, Rafe. The destination and the company are the same.”
He makes a noise of anger. Grabs a fistful of my sopping ponytail.
And then he makes me a millionaire

Him buying her four birkin bags (all in different colours), a Cartier bracelet and a Benz for her to atleast tell him he's got a chance of getting another chance is so superior
I love me a rich king.

Rafe in love was a treat to read.

"There’s never been any pretense with you, Penny. When you talk, I listen because I enjoy what you have to say. When I fuck you from behind, it’s because I know I also have the privilege of fucking you face-on. And when you leave my bed, I can’t bear the thought of it being forever.”

Gimme gimme gimme my boy Gabe now.
I'm tired of eyeing him all this time.
Please i hope his book doesn't let me down

It was a good book. I liked the slow burn and watching their relationship develop. There’s nothing I didn’t like about it, I just didn’t love it they way I hoped I would.

There was just something I felt was missing. We missed a few moments I would have liked to see during the grovelling rather than jumping to the next thing. Like when she brought him up for the first time, I would have liked to feel the desperation and when she finally forgave him, we didn’t get to see much of it. Also, the ending was kind of unsatisfying. I guess since it ended before we got to see them truly together, I was hoping for more in the time jump.

I don’t think it needed to be a duet. This book was really just a continuation of the last book. No different stakes or plot, nothing shifted in the story, it just carried on exactly where it left off. I think it may be why I feel like it’s missing something to me. I thought there might have been a bigger plot outside the couple that they would have to deal with or something to make it need a duet but there wasn’t anything really.

I think I’m just not feeling it but I get why others love this book. Like I said, there’s nothing wrong with it, and I liked the romance a lot, I just wanted more.

14/04/23 - my third re-read! This is my comfort book for when I'm not feeling great mentally.

I think Somme Sketcher could write a 100 books about Penny and Rafe and it would never be enough. I cannot express how much I love these two and I want my own Rafe.

This book is Part 2 of a duet. Having 600 pages+ for their story was just perfection and I couldn't read it quick enough.

The writing, the pacing, the banter was fantastic. I hate when banter between a couple disappears once they're finally together, but Somme manages to balance this perfectly. This honestly has to be one of my favourite duets I've ever read and I cannot wait for Gabe's story.

If you love a good mafia romance with a strong FMC and a grumpy MMC, this is the book. The chemistry flies off the page and I found myself laughing out-loud several times. This book is honestly 6 stars!!

Somme, what do I have to do to get Gabe's book in my hands now?????

Rafe and Penny already had my heart in first book and I knew I will love them here! Rafe was so gone for Penny, man start drinking vodka because she said she won't kiss him 😆 This book was even hotter then first one 🥵 they had so many cute scene too, like the one when there was thunder and she run right to Rafe's arms and hugged him! Them in his care stays as the cutest scenes ever, now he even had all the extra stuff Penny needs to sleep in it 😭 I loved how Penny got Rafe lucky socks so he can be lucky again! The kiss under the rain!! UGH IDK WHAT TO SAY TO NOT SPOIL! Some stuff Rafe did made me mad tho, the way he acted right before Penny find out the truth. I though it will get heartbreaking, but seeing Rafe grovel to Penny so she will forgive him was one of the best and entertaining things I ever seen and loved that Penny didn't forgive him right away! Just gonna say one thing, that Rafe Visconti doesn't mind spending millions on Penny 🤭 and the whole "100$ and a tip" was funny, all the beats and games were funny to watch. I loved Penny's relationship with her neighbour Matt and her friend Nico, they were such a sweet friends. Hated Penny's parents! My favourite friend group was GIRLS GROUP! Aurora, Tayce, Wren and Penny were the best 💗 Loved seeing Aurora be close with Gabe and Rafe, the way she was being there for Rafe was so sweet! I loved all Angelo and Aurora moments, the way she was a bad cook and my boy Angelo had to eat it all 😂 Angelo always was doing what Aurora wants, was so cute BEST HUSBAND FOR REAL! One more ting, I'm super exited for GabeWren book because of all the crumbs we got, we learn some more stuff about Gabe which made me even more curious about his story 😭 I hope we will get it this year ❤️

5 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sinners Consumed is part two of a duet and it continues where Sinners Condemned left off.

And here I thought the sexual tension and the sizzling chemistry between Rafe and Penny couldn't get better but MY GOD it was perfect.

One of the best enemies-with-benefits romance I've read and the best part was the GROVELING 🤌🏼

The slowburn was truly rewarding and the spicy scenes were HOT.

I absolutely love Penny's character development in the second part of their story. Despite having a tough exterior but she is still wounded on the inside but she would not allow anyone to ever walk all over her even the man she is falling for.

I thought Rafe had already won me over but man did I fall in love with him even harder when he built an IKEA bookcase from scratch and bought an entire collection of For Dummies books because he knew Penny read them. What a man.

The push and pull between them was so entertaining and eventually one of them had to go on their knees—and in the best way.

I love the Visconti family dynamic and I hope I'll get to read more of the other brothers' stories. I have to say I love every scene Angelo and Rory (main couple of book 1) make an appearance in because it's so satisfying to see Angelo being an absolute simp for his wife.

Trigger Warnings can be found on my review of part one of this duet, this is a dark mafia romance with mature and dark themes.

okay, i need to start with some serious apologies. to my neighbors, who've probably called the cops. to the structural engineers behind my orthopedic mattress because it's taken a beating. and to my poor, dentist. the author of this book owes me for a whole lot of emotional trauma and a bulk order of fresh cotton sheets.

why? rafe. motherfucking. visconti.

this man is beyond hot. a blazing fucking inferno. every time i was reading his pov, i literally combusted, went to some heavenly plane, and then was resurrected just to read more. my mind completely short circuited. thinking straight? i can barely remember my own name! i need him mentally, spiritually and, inside me. who said that? 👀

my journey through this book went through a few stages.

── .✦ stage 1: denial (the lip biting)

the moment rafe decides to make an observation or, god forbid, try to communicate like a functioning adult, my first response was to attempt to physically restrain from inserting myself into this book and give him a wet sloppy kiss. this manifests as the biting.

i bit my lip so hard, y'all, i could hear a little snap. it was a protective measure, a sacrifice to the gods, hoping that the small, sharp pain would somehow transfer telepathically rafe to fuck me. it did not work :(

── .✦ stage 2: anger (the sheet sacrifice)

this is where the user supplied evidence comes in. the fist clenching wasn't a gentle squeezing, but it was an attempt to compress atoms. my bedsheets are now dotted with tiny, perfect crescent moon holes, the archaeological evidence of rafe's hotness. i clenched my fists so hard on the bedsheets every time he got all sassy, or winked at penny, or flirted with penny (seriously, penny!) i just died a little, in a good way of course.

── .✦ stage 3: bargaining (the toe curl)

ah, the toes. the final frontier of physical restraint. when rafe was being particularly hot or had a filthy mouth or worse, when he was being vulnerable and pathetically obsessed with penny, my toes would curl inward so violently they threatened to become one solid, giant foot.

── .✦ stage 4: depression (the primal scream)

the screams were not cute but raw noises. they were the primal, guttural cries of a reader (me!) driven past the breaking point in heartless. they were screams of frustration, edginess, and the sudden, terrifying realization that i was becoming too damn obsessed with rafe and penny. my neighbors now assume i’m having a breakdown or attempting to contact the spirit realm via aggressive ventriloquism.

── .✦ stage 5: acceptance (reality)

the book is flawless. i had to accept that rafe is not real and had to go out for a walk to touch some grass. this book is a masterpiece of modern romance/fiction/dark romance/mafia genre whatever it happens to be.

the mark of truly high stakes writing is when the characters jump off the page and punch you in the face. rafe and penny didn't just punch me, they made me so obsessed with them, i can't get over them now.

i highly recommend this book, but please, read it in a padded room with a protective mouth guard and industrial strength duct tape for noise reduction.

10/10. i hate and love rafe visconti and will probably name my next three plushies after him as a form of my obsession.

4⭐️ 3🌶️

absolutely loved this series way more than I was expecting, need Gabes duet as of yesterday 🥹

This was my least favourite but not because it was bad, just because I didn’t feel like Rafe and Penny needed two whole books for their story, it started to get slightly repetitive and not as fast paced as the first two, but regardless it was still fun, and definitely spicy
I like the undertones of fate, luck, chance etc and how it plays into their superstitions, the settings of casinos and super yachts etc it was super fun 🙌🏼 this definitely makes me want to read more mafia romance, this was the best I’ve read yet
