Club Heat #2

Pack's Prize

Rate this book
The best way to get over your ex pack? Get under a new one.

When the pack I’ve been living with won’t commit–even after three years–I know I deserve more. After all, I’m an omega. We’re rare. Prized.

Before I settle down with a pack that is ready to keep their promises, I want to have some fun–like, say, a summer spent picking up as many sexy alphas as I can handle. Where better than the infamous Club Heat to find them?

That’s where I meet Michael, Theo, and Elias, who need a convenient fake courtship with an omega in order to inherit their pack leader’s family business. I'll be sharing their lavish lifestyle during the day... and their beds at night.

In three months, it will all be over.

No problem: that’s just enough time to get over my exes, get my life together, and have a little–or maybe a lot–of fun.

As long as no one catches feelings...

Pack’s Prize is a sweet and steamy standalone romance in the Club Heat series and includes MF, MM, and MMMF action and a Happily Ever After guaranteed.

The story is mostly well-written if a little generic and I'll give points for the FMC enjoying her sexuality instead of being demure. I also liked the dynamic of an alpha who submits. You don't often see that in the omegaverse, where the submissive male is usually classified as a beta or omega. This is better edited than A LOT of the books on KU with very few grammatical or continuity errors to pull you out of the story.

Ultimately what was lacking was chemistry. The dynamic between the MMCs was interesting but the relationship between them and the FMC just wasn't there. Basically they think she's pretty and like how she smells but even that description by the MMCs felt robotic. If I had to put my finger on it, I would say that there were no complex emotions involved. In a good, character driven omegaverse story, the undeniable pull of pheromones and heats can add a sexy element that drives the plot. In this case, there really wasn't anything else and it made the sex read as cold, and left me saying "meh".

If I had one other complaint it would be that the author fell into the trap of over describing her characters. Giving their exact weight/height/clothing size tends to pull readers out of a story rather than into it. Especially in romance where a lot of readers like to imagine themselves in the character's place. Character descriptions are not character building. Is it relevant that she is short/tall/pale/tanned/etc. to the story? In the last book she actually listed the character's exact height... Unless physical appearance is tied to the character's presence or development (i.e. she is self-conscious, vain, etc) then skip the expositional diatribe.

On that note, if the author IS going to focus so much on describing her FMCs, she should probably branch out a little. We now have two slim (which is mentioned CONSTANTLY), pale, brunette FMCs in the Club Heat series. Girl, we get it, size play is a thing, but slender and pale can't possibly be the only beauty standard that exists in this world? It was even weirder when (after harping about how small and slender and narrow she was) one of the MMCs made a reference to Peter Paul Rubens (i.e. "rubenesque") a painter who is famous for painting full-ish figured women. It was completely bizarre.

Solid 4⭐️

This was soooo good and so sweet.
And I have to say this second book knocked the first out of the park!!!!
I loved Ava and her alphas Michael,Theo and Elias’ story. Especially Elias ❤️❤️❤️

Ava with her broken heart thought she had a plan. But would her omega side let her go through with it? I loved reading her struggle with herself and her coming to terms with what she needed and what she wanted.

The way these 3 alphas are in an unconventional relationship in this omegaverse world was interesting to read. In this world alphas didn’t love each other like Michael,Theo and Elias did. Each alpha had their own reasons for not wanting an omega (or they thought they didn’t want one)
Michael: his ego and a big screw you to family
Theo: his broken heart
Elias: he didn’t want to lose Michael or Theo.
When these three finally faced the truth within themselves and with each other it was great.

This will definitely be a comfort reread for me.

Sticking to the Rules . . .

Ava is tired of her pack showing no signs of commitment after 3 years. It’s time to just go out and have fun. Club Heat seems to be the place to go to find Alphas. Sure enough, she finds Michael, Theo, and Elias who not only are willing to have fun, but can offer her ongoing activities if she is willing to pretend to be their Omega until he can inherit his deceased grandfather’s company. The most important rule, however, is not to let feelings develop. That could get messy. Will their plan work out? Or will someone break the rules?

This one didn’t have that zing and heat the first book had. It was hot with everyone coming together and I mean everyone coming together. Glad they just hit their feelings out instead of dragging it out more. Will read the next.

I tried with this one but I had to give up.

DNF

The omega apparently lived with an alpha pack for 3 years without them claiming her. She was supposedly strung along with promises of being claimed.

So she finally leaves them, no one comes running after her. She goes to a club looking to hookup. Not sure why she thinks casual sex is the answer to this problem because it seems like a terrible idea to me.

She finds this new pack who also doesn’t want her. They want to fake court her for an inheritance. So she goes from one pack who doesn’t want her to another? How does that fucking make sense.

These alphas had decided to just bang each other and never have an omega until it became a condition of inheritance. I don’t understand why she think’s going with another pack who doesn’t actually want her is a good idea?

Ava, the female omega lead, has left a dead end relationship with a pack after being with them for three years. Determined to get over the old pack, she heads to a club to pick up a new one. Michael, one of the male alpha leads, needs to be seen to be courting an omega to claim his inheritance. Theo, the second male alpha lead, whilst reluctant to play the game, selects Ava as the perfect candidate and Elias, the last male alpha lead, is certain he wants a real relationship right from the beginning…

This story is well written with all lead characters’ POV, and a pre-existing all male alpha ménage that opens up to adding a female omega to the dynamic. I enjoyed the individuality of all the characters, and the inclusion of enough background to show development but not overwhelm the romance. I enjoyed the relationship development, and how each character arrived at readiness for an ongoing relationship at different points. The intimate scenes were erotic and contributed to the building of the relationship.

I liked this but it could’ve been better. The shame in this universe around MM relationships was kind of blah to me. So much of the storyline revolves around the alphas being wrong for their MMM relationship that I was kind of bored.

The audiobook narration was good. I liked Michael Gallagher a lot but Avie Paige made the FMC a little too breathy.

Ava had had enough! For the last three years, she had been waiting for the pack she had joined to claim her permanently for their own. Heat after heat had gone by and she is still an outsider. She is sick of being used and wants to start a new life. First however she needs to find a pack to provide her with a good time for the night to prove to herself that she is over her last pack. She goes to Club Heat to find a pack to help her through the night. She is approached by a sexy alpha called Theo. His pack is looking for a sexy omega to pretend to be interesting in mating with them to fulfill the terms of a will. In return for pretending to be their mate or future mate, they will pay her a lot of money so she can get her life started again. She has just one demand, she wants to have sex with them to prove to herself that she is over her past. She learns quickly that she is over her old pack because she is falling for her fake pack.

Michael is the alpha of the pack. His grandfather has been putting pressure on him to find a real omega mate but Michael wants nothing to do with omegas. He has found his love with two other alphas. When his grandfather dies, he leaves the family business to Michael as long as he can prove that he is mated to an omega or seriously courting one. Michael has his own business, a very successful gallery but he doesn't want the family business to go to a distant relative. That is why he and his pack are at Club Heat looking for an omega. Theo also doesn't want a female omega mate. Several years ago, he thought he had found his mate in a human woman but she betrayed him and left him broken hearted. Theo is very leery of having an omega around again but when he sees Ava, he can't resist. Elias is very keen on having a female omega around. He also really likes Ava. Now he has to convince his pack mates, that having an omega around could make things a lot better.

This is a fine Omegaverse book, but there's nothing new or intriguing here. It's kind of generic.

The personalities weren't too well developed. I know that Ava spent 3 years in a not-great relationship with a pack, but I don't know a lot about how those previous alphas treated her. I know they didn't claim her, but we only even ever find out the one guy's name.

Does Ava have a job? Did she ever? What is she going to do to support herself? Does she have hobbies? Interests? Likes/dislikes? When it comes down to it, we actually know very little about her.

I could say the same about Elias. I know Matthew owns an art gallery, has a complicated family situation, and is the leader. I know Theo is an artist at heart, though I'm not sure why he stopped doing art (was it the previous Omega? it's not super clear). But Elias... Does he work? What does he do for fun? Is he just a homeless drifter that these other guys picked up in Amsterdam?

The book has some usual Omegaverse fare: "We all secretly love each other but won't say it out loud"; "Oops, I accidentally went into heat". And as a premise, the weird romance genre trope of "Granddad's will says I have to get married to inherit" only Granddad is just insistent on a hetero relationship.

This didn’t give what I thought it was going to give. The plot was very cliche but theres nothing wrong with it! I actually like cliche plots and this was pretty good but with like a twist. Although there wasnt even really much drama that happened? It kinda fizzled out quick. Noww in the other hand.. it just felt like ava was just there?? There was no emotional bond like the others had with each other . Especially the others. They just liked her cause she smelled nice and was pretty and didnt question them about their relationship . Idk something was just off. Maybe elias might’ve been a bit different but still… it felt like she was just their shiny new toy and they felt bad cause she lived pretty poorly . But thats just how i see it. The spice was okay too but there wasnt enough mm in the mix for meee. They kept saying ohh alphas shouldnt be doing this but where is the “this”?!? I wanted the “this” with description!! Its not badd but its not good. 2.5 stars

I liked this story, but I enjoyed the first standalone book in this series more than I did this one and for me, it was because it took me a moment for me to warm up to some of the main characters. I loved that Ava was confident. She loved being an omega, even when she couldn't find an alpha and a pack to give her what she wanted and needed. I disliked Roman from the moment she thought of him, and I truly got tired of all her thoughts regarding him and his pack as it seemed a little excessive at times. I liked Michael, Theo and Elias once I warmed up to them and it took a little time. However, Ava was perfect for them and once they realized it, it was game on from there. I like the little twist the author threw in there regarding Roman and Michael. I was wondering how Roman knew so much about Michael's personal life when they met with the lawyer. Overall, this was a good story with a sweet ending and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Ava (h) heads to Ardor, aka Club Heat, to get over her old pack who led her on for three years but wouldn't claim her as theirs. She's looking for a casual fling nothing more and is thrilled to find Michael (H), Theo (H), and Elias (H), an-all alpha pack looking for an omega to help them fake a relationship in order to inherit a business. She agrees to help them out if they'll agree to sex with her, and when she finds out that the alphas are not just packmates but also lovers. Things heats up but get complicated as they all get to know one another, and she and they want more. Lots hot, steamy sex scenes with a good romantic story too. ABO dynamics, including mating marks, heats, packs, knotting, MF, MM, and MMMF, etc. Fun Omegaverse read with HEA for all. Downloadable epilogue available with sign-up. Nice start to the Club Heat series.

A twist

I’ve read my fair share of omegaverse books, some of which I’ve definitely enjoyed more than others. The formula is usually pretty much the same though. Alphas *crave* omegas; their whole purpose to find one.

When I started reading Pack’s Prize, that’s what I was expecting. I was pretty surprised to find that that wasn’t the driving point at all! Three alphas doing just fine together, not a nest in sight, and one of the alpha’s pretty much resenting all omegas. What?! 🤯

I really liked this take on omegaverse. Like I said, it doesn’t start off with any kind of traditional alpha/omega dynamic, but it does eventually morph into it. But there was just something so much more to it, to their budding bond. I really enjoyed how the emotions of each character could be felt through the pages.

This book is very similar in structure and storyline to the first one. The sequence of events is the same. Even the restaurant they go to is the same. The story and writing were equally good as well. I read the reviews for the first one and I know people didn't like it. I get the whole Brent thing, I felt the same. But the characters in both books are written in a way that we can differentiate them, even though we don't get to know much about them. And yes, most of both stories are focused on the heat scene. But those are AMAZING! The banter, the steam, and the love between them are all really well written. So I take these books for what they are: erotic sweet omegaverse stories. Not very deep, but so steamy and heartwarming.

I don't remember this book 🙃

This book is so forgettable that I can't even remember reading it. I remember it was cute? The relationship was sweet if a little boring. But nothing here leaves a lasting impression.

The best I can say is that it was okay to read and I didn't hate it.

Kent has potential but doesn't seem to be able to fully bring out the emotions in these books in this series. There's just always something lacking in the characters or development of the relationship.

I'm not even going to bother with the next book. Everyone around me says it is definitely the weakest book so far in this series so why bother with a guaranteed mediocre book 🤷‍♀️

Hopefully the next book after is better? This series has potential but the execution needs work.

Meet Michael, Theo Elias and Ava - three hot and rich alpha's and a pack-needing omega. Ava, originally employed as a fake mate, gets more than she bargains for with these gorgeous sexy guys.
This is a new author for me and I was impressed with how well written and enjoyable this story was so am now reading her other stories . So thanks Booksprout for this introduction of which I am freely leaving this review as my way of appreciation. So if you like reverse harem, hot as hell romances, this is for you. Enjoy!.

Short sweetverse with Pack relationships as the main plot.
This is a sweet fake dating book with the angst to go with it. It was a quick enjoyable read with some good story points. It is super sweet how everyone has their baggage. The packs dynamic sets them apart and I feel it’s good representation. I feel if I expand on that thought there would be spoilers. I really enjoyed that this story seems somewhat realistic even with omegaverse characteristics. The relationship is the key and I thought It was a good follow up to packs promise.

The extended epilogue is super sweet and gave me all the feels.

This is the second book in this omega verse series but it can be read as a standalone. Ava was strung along by her previous pack and dumps them when they won’t commit. She is looking to have some fun and forget about her ex-pack at Club Ardor. She meets Michael, Elias and Theo who happen to be looking for an Omega in order to take over his grandfather’s business. What will happen when sparks begin to fly? Fast-paced read with loads of drama suspense and sizzling scenes. The chemistry is intense and the story entertaining. I liked it.

Pack's Prize by Victoria Kent is the second book in the Club Heat series. We meet Ava, an Omega who has just left the pack she was with for three years. They used her and wouldn't commit. She went to Club Heat to find a hook-up. She meets Michael, Theo, and Elias. All Alphas. They had a proposition for her and she accepted. Fun, sweet Omegaverse story. Loved it. Loved how Ava knew what she wanted and went out and got it. Plus the author has an extended epilogue you can get through her website. Looking forward to more Club Heat.

Hey Friend! I love a good Omegaverse story and this one is no different. I loved the fact that no one wanted a forever mate and the plan was just some casual fun. I loved that the men weren't all he man tough alphas like in many other stories, because let's face it we don't all fit into the stereotype molds society seems we should.

I didn't want to put it down, it was so sweet I just wanted to keep reading. Enjoy my friends!!.

weak and forgettable but nothing really wrong with it. 2.5* rounded up.

I read this one last of the three books and I think its the weakest. this time the 3 males have a more defined reason for looking for an omega at club heat. (The still boring location of the start of these books). They are in a same sex throuple and need to have a nice omega lady on the hook to inherit a business from the deceased and homophobic grandfather of one of them. Naturally they have a lot of sex and fall in love over a very short time frame. Hmm. Now I am wondering why I rounded up.

An established MMM pack (Alpha/Alpha/Alpha) add an (F)Omega to meet the requirements of a will.
Simple, sweet, and short. Exactly what i was looking for in an Omegaverse story.
There were a few times names & positions were mixed up - which led to a bit of confusion for me.
I wish there was actual MM happening vs just being referenced. The Alpha Insticts struggle was a great addition to the pack dynamic & I would have loved to see more examples of it!
The separation from her previous pack was vague/lacking.

This is a must read loved it from beginning to end. ..

We first see Ava in packs promise as she stumbled into their table. But there is so much more to ava story that just hooks you from begging to end and you keep wanting more from this characters. Elias is my favorite he is like a big teddy bear i loved every he was involved the other alphas are amazing as well but Elias is just it for me. Lol i can go into heavy detail about this book.

Still sweet but…

Still loved the low angst, sweet omegaverse but it wasn’t as good as the first.

I couldn’t connect with the omega. I liked the dynamic of the pack and what they overcame in terms of what society said they should be. And the twist with the ex pack at the end was interesting.

Heat was still on point.

A rh with three male alphas, female omega.
Multiple povs told in 1st person
Nonshifting omegaverse, no pregnancy, contemporary setting.

This is the second book in the club heat series. Each book is a standalone and can be read individually if so desired. This was another book that was fairly fast and steamy. I would still call it a fast burn but took a little longer then the first book. There are interesting pack dynamics and I would have liked to read more about them or about their past befor the omega joined. This book also has many fewer typos and easy to follow along.

After years of being strung along by an alpha and his pack, this omega gives up and moves on. She heads to a club for omegas and alphas to meet and stumbles upon the pack of her dreams, but is she the omega of their dreams or is she just wasting more time? A sweet romance with lots of steamy spice that has a happily ever after, but includes a slight bit of angst to make the plot more interesting.
