A Monstrous Mistake

On Halloween night, the lines between fantasy and reality are blurred and the monsters have come out to play. Meanwhile, our human leading ladies are ready to celebrate the holiday in style - with some hot men in costumes. The only problem? Reasons why it’s not my fault demons got summoned to my sister’s Halloween party:
1. I told Agnes not to use our grandmother’s cauldron as a drinks cooler, no matter how nice it looked with the decor.
2. Everyone knows the magical bloodline of the Eastey witches died off with our grandmother. Didn’t it?
3. Who the hell used a summoning spell as a drink recipe? Even if it did taste a little too delicious.
4. I’m not responsible for the random words I mumble while wasted and trying to avoid puking on anyone.

Hell, I didn’t even realize they were real demons until a kitsune showed up looking for his missing friend. Now I’ve let loose a demon who wants to devour me and a demon who wants to… devour me, but in a pleasant way. To save my sister, I have to figure out my non-existent magic while a sexy cinnamon roll of a demon and a gorgeous, grumpy nine-tailed fox shifter try to protect me from getting eaten. If only they’d both stop eying me like I was a delectable treat.

This one couldn't make it.
Supposedly to be sexy and funny, but failed to do so.
There are some good things, the idea was good, but...
A big fail is the mix-up with the names, is something I can "forgive".
Sam is a demon, Tabitha a witch and Kaito a kitsune.

This is trying to be funny and sexy, but falls short on both. The heroine is apparently just witchy enough to accidentally summon some demons (thanks to her Guatemalan grandmother, a weird throwaway background that in no way informs the character) and then she's drunk and messy for a while while the demon and kitsune make jokes about who would top whom. It's juvenile and the writing is cringey.
Looking at the next few in the series, I think the author group for this collab is not a good fit for me.

Luckily, they're in KU so I get to just move along to the next Halloween treat without regretting a purchase.

It's October, I want some fun Halloween reads. I thought I'd hit the jackpot finding this collection. Spoilers.. I did not. This is the second book I've attempted to read in the Monstrous Mistake series. The first one, I only made it to 5% this one I pushed through to 27%.

They read like poorly written fanfiction that definitely did not have a beta reader. This one, Halloween Treat, in particular has multiple mistakes. Like, Tabitha referring to her sister as Tabitha, instead of her name, Agnes and even using a nickname, Bitty, which I'm assuming is meant to be Tabitha's nickname, not Agnes. Because it goes with Ta'BIT'ha not Agnes.

Other mistakes include Tabitha knowing information that only the reader should know, because we've been given the information through the other POVs in the book. We know the car is a rental, she should not. We know Kaito is Sam’s assistant, and that they have been best friends for centuries, she should not.

I'm over it, I can try to get through poor writing if the plot is enjoyable enough but it is not. The main conflict, 'the witch eating demon' is already done, over with and brushed under the rug, at 27% with no actual impact to the story, involvement from the main characters or the reader, so I can only assume that this was added in an attempt to make this porn with a plot, but the mistakes keep tripping me up and kicking me out of the story, so I can't even get to the smut.

It might get better but life is too short to force myself through anymore of it. DNF.

ok but….

Cute story. I would have enjoyed more if the proofreading was better. I can ignore a lot of errors but mixing names is a pet peeve of mine, especially when it happens more than once. Those definitely should have been caught, especially with it being the MFC. Otherwise a nice, fun, quick read.

It was alright. I was happy to find a short halloween menage. Didn't expect that Sam was a submissive but I did like the other Sam gag. Pretty much sweet halloween sex with a kitsune, a demon and a witch that doesn't know she's a witch.

This is a well written short story with a cast of strong well developed characters. This author brings it all in this one. It's a fun and entertaining story with humor, action, danger and a smokin hot chemistry between Tabitha who is a witch but doesn't know it, Sam who is a lovable prankster demon and Kaito who is the dom kitsune. The author moves the story quickly and smoothly with her detailed and descriptive scenes and delivers a terrific Halloween read.

If you’re looking for a fun Halloween read, keep looking. I’m not sure exactly what the author was striving for but she missed the mark.

The characters are not well developed and aren’t relatable at all, the dialog is painfully cringy, the whole thing is pretty cringy.

The Heroine accidentally summons a demon & a demon’s side kick and proceeds to argue with them & then things take a turn for the better, iykyk. Anywho, kinda lacking for plot and it moves pretty slowly (the book is only 120 something pages)I don’t think I’ll be reading the rest of the series but I don’t regret reading this one!

A fast, fun, funny, and very sexy read. Actual MMF stuff, so if you're not into that skip this book. Good world building and so many fun characters. I can't wait for the next in this series. Kirstin Lance has become one of my go to authors because of this book.

Halloween Cavorting . . .

On Halloween, anything can happen, as Tabitha, a witch who doesn’t know she is a real witch, accidentally ends up summoning demons and other supernaturals to the Halloween party. She was as surprised as everyone else. She ends up attracting a couple of guys who keep her safe from the other odd assortment of guests who are not quite as civilized. Sam, although a demon, seems like a nice guy and is attracted to Tabitha. He is the one who gets Kaito, a kitsune (magical fox shifter), to work with him on protecting Tabitha from the rougher crowd. That leaves plenty of time for them to get to know each other… in as many ways as possible.

Grab your copy and let them entertain you. The good news is that if it gets too warm where they take you, you can always close the cover of your ebook and cool the room back down. Just be aware that their costumes probably aren’t, uh, costumes…

Reading this it felt as though I missed a lot of things that for whatever reason weren’t disclosed. It felt incomplete and poorly written. The humor fell flat, there was little exposition about the dynamics between the otherworldly characters other than their sexual proclivities, both admitted and latent. Instead of a sexy, fun romp between a girl and two hot supernatural beings, it was tedious and I found my mind wandering rather than intrigued with the story.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun, funny, sexy read that I finished way too fast. Great world building and wonderful characters. It is a MMF romance with a Tabitha, a woman who discovers she's a witch, Sam, the good of the two demons she inadvertently summons, and Kaito, a kitsune and Sam's best friend. A fun Halloween read. 4 stars.

Tabitha's grandmother was a witch but she was disappointed that Tabitha and her twin never showed signs of having magic. Then their grandmother died leaving everything to the twins. It is Halloween and Tabitha's twin Agnes is throwing a Halloween party. Tabitha doesn't really want to be there especially after she learns that her sister set her up with a date but she can't refuse Agnes. The twins set up for the party and use their grand mother's cauldron as a party cooler for the drinks. Tabitha gets very drunk and accidently summons Sam, a mischief demon. She is very attracted to Sam but she doesn't believe him when he tells her she is a witch and has magic. Another demon was summoned too who would like to eat witches. Sam stays around to protect Tabitha until she sobers up.

Sam hasn't been summoned for a long time after he and his assistant Kaito, a kitsiune, erased his real name from many books. He and Kaito were about to have an important talk when he is summoned to Earth. Sam is very drawn towards Tabitha and wants to have a passionate night with her but she refused. He still can't leave her so he calls Kaito to come get him. When Kaito arrives, he is very drawn to Tabitha too. Kaito knows there is something unusual between the three of them. Kaito has strong feelings for Sam but thinks that nothing can happen because they are both Doms. He want to tell Sam that he was resigning before Sam disappeared. Kaito wanted more excitement and adventure. Meeting Tabitha has provided him with the needed adventure he had been looking for. Also he learns that Sam isn't as much of a Dom as they both thought. Somehow being with Tabitha has brought them all closer together.

First and foremost this is an EROTIC romance, in fact the whole Monstrous Mistake Series are erotic romances so if that isn’t your thing DO NOT read them. That said, if this IS your thing I think you’ll enjoy this book.

It has humor, witch who suddenly learns she has magic and a vegan/pacifist demon and a sad kitsune who are just now learning they might be more than just best “friends”. In addition to exploring the idea of a possible fated triad the three have to avoid supernatural beings trying to hunt them down. It is very hot in a graphic, funny, sexy MMF/MM sort of way, so again be pre-warned.

It had me fanning myself and wanting to read the story of the heroine’s twin sister as soon as I was done. Read if you like the genre, avoid if you do not.

My biggest critiques are 1) dear goddess it needs proofreading! Not only are there small word errors but there are a couple of swapped names and gender identifiers. That sort of thing not only makes me bananas, it causes jarring breaks in the narrative. 2) This author and the series leaders REALLY needed to identify these books as erotic romances, otherwise they will continue to receive bad reviews from people offended by the subject matter.

Primer Monster love que me gusta, así que 10/10
Me encanto la idea de que todo comience porque Tabitha, la prota, termina invocando un demonio porque esta vomitando borracha en un caldero mágico XD es simplemente HILARANTE.
Tenemos una bruja, un demonio (de bromas?) y un zorro de nueve colas, como personajes principales. Es ligero, super simple e increíblemente intenso, todo pasa como en dos semanas.
No esperen mucha trama ni nada por el estilo, es un romance sencillo, que misteriosamente termina con ellos “unidos x el destino” o alguna tontearía así.
Me gusto que fuera MMF (es decir que uno de los protagonistas fuera el centro de la triada), y fue sorpresivo que Sam terminara siendo el bottom de ambos, pero en general bien. El spicy 10/10, super creativo obvio porque obvio monstruos y criaturas, pero al menos a mi que no me gusta tano el romance paranormal no me dio TANTO cringe leer la historia. Me gusto que hubiera mil detalles super sex*ales en los protas, como el punto sensible de Sam o que el pinche collar mágico que controla cuando se pueden corr*r, 10/10 la creatividad.

Kaito, the male kitsune lead and Sam’s best friend, follows to make sure everything’s ok. Both are drawn to Tabitha. Now they need to convince her it’s a good idea…

This novella is tri POV, well written, and a fun, erotic BDSM ménage romance. I enjoyed that Sam and Kaito had genuinely only been friends until the story commenced because it meant all characters were exploring the relationship together. I appreciated that Sam was the sub and Tabitha the switch. I enjoyed the erotic intimate scenes that drove relationship development, and found the banter between characters funny and engaging. I’m looking forward to Tabitha’s twin having a story too.

An amazung story. This is a short reverse harem halloween themed story. Tabitha along with her twin sister belong to the witches line. But their grandmother was the last magical being. On Halloween night Tabitha accidently summons two demons Sam one of the demons tries to keep the other from eating Tabithas sister. But Tabitha being drunkalso needs his help. Kaito has been Sams friend for centuries. He is a Kitsune shifter and when Sam needs help, Kaito cant resist. Loved reading their story. Thanx.

This story was totally hot! These three had such a fun and interesting dynamic between them. Kaito the dominant kitsune, Sam the sweet demon, and Tabitha the witch who didn't know she was a witch.... The chemistry was off the charts and WOW the steam in those scenes! I loved the story and the relationship between these three was just perfect. This was a great, quick read!.

All 3 have an instant connection to each other although Sam and Kaito didn’t feel it before meeting Tabitha. They were a fated triad. I really enjoyed this book. I have read the book about Tabithas sister before reading this, so I had some high expectations and they were meet.

My favorite quote from this book is: “We’re here because we want to fuck her too, takes one to know one.” I laughed so hard when I read that. the whole story is filled with funny moments but also some sexy time and lots of love. If you like some mmf action with swords crossing, spicy scenes and a cute sub demon, then this is definitely a book for you!

Standalone with no Cliffhangers.

Quite a fun story...Tabitha is drifting through her life as a barista. Her sister throws a Halloween party and a drunk Tabitha somehow summons Sam the demon. Let me just saw that Sam is a total sweetheart and kind of silly; well he is a prankster demon. His best friend Kaito comes looking for him and they fell an instant connection to Tabitha. Lots of sexy times with some Dom/sub play thrown in.
