Sometimes love requires a leap of faith...
Molly Hill refuses to become a spinster. At twenty-four, her prospects are limited. Fearing she’ll be stuck working in her brother’s store in Cañon City, Colorado--where every man sees her as a little sister--for the rest of her life, she decides a change of location is in order. Before she knows it, her mother has arranged for Molly to spend a few months with relatives in Denver. Surely a larger town will yield a marriageable man—or even two!
Sheriff’s Deputy Eli Jennings has been sweet on Molly for months, ever since he was charged with keeping her safe from the man who threatened her brother’s store. But he’s never had the courage to tell her how he feels. When his mother requests his help in Denver with a mysterious man who's been demanding repayment of unknown debts, Eli agrees. When he finds Molly on the same train, he hopes this will be the opportunity he's waited for.
But after they arrive, it seems Molly has already found someone else. In fact, she’s found an entire bevy of suitors. Molly suddenly has more attention than she can handle. Visiting with Eli is like a breath of fresh air. And better yet, she can help him with his mother’s problem. After all, several of her new suitors are suspects in Eli's investigation. As they spend more time together, Molly realizes how much she cares for Eli. How had she never noticed how kind and handsome he was? None of the men in Denver can measure up to him, no matter how much money they might have.
But Eli still can’t seem to gather the courage to make his feelings known. He’s on the verge of losing Molly to one of the men in Denver eager to marry her—any one of whom might be the man demanding money from Eli's mother. The more Eli pulls away in jealousy, the more Molly fears she might wind up trapped in a loveless marriage far from home—and far from the man she truly loves.
Like all of Cat’s books, Molly is a sweet and clean romance that will warm your heart and fill you with hope. All books in the Brides of Fremont County series are standalones and can be read in no particular order.
Brides of Fremont County is a spin-off of Cat's Gilbert Girls series, and several characters make appearances in each series.

Oh, the deadly friend zone. Molly and Eli are each unsure if the other sees them as more than a friend. A trip to Denver brings everything to a head. Cat Cahill gives us a fun story line with interesting characters, a little romance, a little humor and a bit of a mystery. I enjoyed this book.
This was a really cute story, i like stories were the couple have feelings for each other but are too shy to admit them. Molly and Eli were adorable together, i liked the epilogue.
💖💖ONE ENTHRALLING DELIGHT💖💖 Delightful! Cat brings it home with this incredibly heartwarming treat, weaving a tapestry with all the misunderstandings, heartache, longing and distance, pining for the one soul searing mate that seems untouchable, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. Cognizant of the instant realization and charged atmosphere, along with a slew of unnerving twists and shocking turns, testing our characters in ways they could have never envisioned. Negotiating through a minefield of deadly peril and cunning blackmail, maneuvering through the manipulations of a dark heart and malicious intent, searching clues and dispatching foes, propelling this baby to life flawlessly. The scenes are abundantly descriptive with colorful details that blend and flow, creating a majestic backdrop that's so rich and lively it feels like you can just reach out and touch it. Remarkable job Cat, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.
We met these characters in #5 of this series. Molly wants to get married but all the men in town seem to view her as their little sister or something. She thought the Deputy was interested in her but he's never said so. Following advice from the Lovelorn, Molly goes to visit relatives in Denver, hoping to meet new men that will see her in a different light. Deputy Eli likes Molly but he's too tongue-tied to say anything to her. They get along well; maybe she can tell he likes her? Eli goes to visit his Mom in Denver at the same time Molly is leaving town. It's nice to see more of her but he's also got a mystery to solve. Is someone cheating his Mom out of the money his Father left? When Molly offers to help investigate, it seems like a nice way to spend time together. But will she become interested in someone else? This is a clean, sweet romance. Ever since I read #5, I've been excited to see what happened between Eli and Molly. This was different than I expected. But it was interesting. I liked it better than #5.
Molly was stuck on Eli. Eli was dreaming about Molly. Despite the mutual interest, they were having trouble even speaking about their feelings. Then they find themselves on a train to Denver and now maybe they have a chance.
This is a wonderfully written historical romance, with a mystery to solve, that you just can not put down once you start reading it. The characters seem to come alive and are so engaging you can’t wait to find out how things work out. The storyline is interesting and full of tender romantic moments as the characters dance around each other trying to build up the courage to explore their feelings. The narrative was from both Eli and Molly’s point of view giving insight into their thoughts, emotions, motivations and actions. I loved how they react to the obstacles they face. If you like heartwarming historical romances that leave you feeling good, then pick up this book.
I received this book for free and have voluntarily chosen to leave an honest review.
This was a sweet story. This is the second book in the Lovelorn series I have read and I thought it was great. I loved how in each of the books the characters get some romance advice from a news article and how as they try to do what the advice says, they find love. I loved how Molly and Eli already loved each other but how shy Eli was about sharing his feelings. This caused some misunderstanding on Molly’s part but I loved that they worked it out. I thought this was a really cute story and I’m glad that everything worked out in the end.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
Molly has been waiting for quite some time for Eli to think of her as more than Jasper’s little sister. Eli, in fact, does...but he’s too timid to voice his attraction. So, fed up with facing spinsterhood, Molly decides to spend a month with her aunt and uncle in Denver, where there are plenty of men who don’t know she’s “Jasper’s little sister”. Eli boards the same train intending to help his mother with a certain debt collector.
I enjoyed this story, but in a way, there was just too much tension with ding dong Eli acting like her couldn’t form a sentence when he was around Molly. There’s definitely a nice HEA, but I wish there would have been a little more romance between the two besides at the very end.
Cat Cahill has done it again and penned a sweet heartwarming story with great character development. This is the story of Molly Hill and Eli Jennings. After Molly received advice from the lovelorn writer, she relocates to Denver in hopes of finding more eligible men. While traveling to Denver, she discovers she is on the same train as Eli. As they visit, cupid's arrow begins to work on the couple, but neither one is able to convey their feelings to the other. Will they ever reach a HEA. Be sure to read this story to find out. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it. I know you will enjoy it too.
• Molly wrote a letter to the Lovelorn column. Following the column's advice started Molly on her journey towards finding love.
• This western romance had some action and mystery, which added another dimension to this book.
• There were some twists and turns to this plot making it unpredictable and I liked that.
• The pacing of this story was very good. It was neither too fast nor too slow and it had a smooth, coherent flow. I liked the writing style of this author.
• This was a clean read and I appreciated that.
I was given a free copy of this book by the author. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own.
Sweet Story of Molly and Eli. Both end up in Denver. Molly is looking for love, since she couldn't seem to find the boys in Canon City thinking of her as more than just a sister or friend. She is super popular in Denver where her aunt and uncle are very well off. Eli has had a crush on Molly, but can't seem to talk to her. He just clams up. How can he compete with the beaus in Denver? Plus, Eli's mother has a creditor breathing threats down her neck to collect debts supposedly left by her husband before his death. Can Eli find out the truth behind the debts? threats? Can he win the girl? Find out in this fantastic story! Happy Reading!
What a truly enjoyable story. Molly is sure she is going to be a spinster, at 24 no man looks at her as a woman but like a friend. After getting advice from The Lovelorn she heads to Denver to find a suitor. She is pleasantly surprised to find her good friend Eli is also going to Denver. These two go through some very funny and dangerous situations. I enjoyed the characters, the location and the entire story and I'm sure you will too. I received a free download of this book from the publisher. This review is totally my own honest opinion.
Deputy Eli gets tongue tied every time he's around Molly Hill. Molly has noticed Eli and wishes he and every other eligible man would not great her like their sister. When the Lovelorn suggests a change of scenery she takes off for Denver to visit family and find a beaux. Eli, on the same train, is going to Denver to help his mother resolve a business matter. While the two Denver families don't run in the same circle, they do have enough acquaintances to keep Eli and Molly busy and perhaps Eli jealous as his mother's mystery unravels.
Molly and Eli are secretly attracted to each other, but they can’t gather up the courage to tell each other how they feel. She decides she wants a family like her brother and visiting her aunt and uncle in Denver would allow her to meet eligible men. Eli’s mother is being threatened to pay debts he believes are fictional, so he ends up going to investigate in Denver. One of Molly’s new suitors could be the culprit. There was some suspense as they work together solve the mystery and still plenty of romantic misunderstandings between them.
This is a story on how people try to inflict pain after loosing a loved one. Eli mother had list her husband and a young man thought he could shame her out of the money she had made from the sale of his business . Eli met a young lady while in Denver helping his mother and after capturing the man he fell in love with the young lady Molly and they all moved to Canon City where he was the local sherif. This was another great book in this series and well worth reading. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
Another great book by Cat Cahill! Wonderful characters and exciting plots keeps you reading way into the night. Molly wrote to the Lovelorn and her advice took Molly to Denver looking for a husband. Eli went to Denver to take care of some business for his mother. I recommend reading this book to find what happens. This story has adventure, danger, romance and of course love. You will find it interesting with it's twist and turns as they work together to solve who was try to defraud Eli's mother. Great job Cat Cahill!
I loved this heartwarming book! 2 people with feelings for each other but unsure if those feelings are reciprocated is how the story begins, but this is not your average friends-to-romance novel! Ms. Cahill has done a wonderful job of working in blackmail, humor, mystery and so much more in this clean romance with its many twists and turns! I highly recommend this book! I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have voluntairly given my honest opinion in this review.
Molly has only had eyes for Eli, but Eli hasn't had a clue, or has he. You would think being a deputy, he could speak his feelings for Molly, but he can't. Molly decides to matter into her own hands and writes of her problem to The Lovelorn. They suggest for her to go to Denver to see if there is any available suitors there. She finds that and more. I really enjoyed this story with its romance and mystery.
Fun and fabulous characters! I was pulled in from the very beginning, the story just grew better with each page. I love that there was mystery mixed with a sweet clean romance. I was not ready for this great story to end but with that said the ending just tied up everything so nicely and will have every reader smiling! Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
I am enjoying this Authors books immensely. This series is fun and the books flow. I enjoyed Molly and Eli's story tremendously. They are sweet and fun to read about. I love how the Author adds a little mystery into the story. Her characters are very well written and keep you reading along with the storyline! Another great addition to the series!
Great characters and a fun plot! The author takes these poor lovelorn individuals around the block and back again before they discover the happiness they’ve both been looking for. And even when I thought I had solved the mystery, I was clueless. Great book and totally a standalone.
This is a sweet, heartwarming romance between Molly and Eli. The author once again brings strong characters and an entertaining story line. I loves the characters and watching them come together. It's well written, moves quickly and smoothly and is another great read by Cat Cahill.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This is a sweet clean romance with a mystery to solve. Molly and Eli's story will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. This book was an absolute joy to read. I received a complimentary copy and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I really enjoyed this book! I loved the two main characters in this book! Neither one of them could get up the nerve to tell the other one how they felt about them! I recommend this book to anyone who reads romance!
Really enjoyed reading this book. Molly and Eli are well written characters with an interesting storyline. I recommend this one. I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
The confusions and insecurities of the main characters made for an interesting and humorous story. The mystery included in the plot was the perfect addition to the romance. Be ready for an enjoyable and relaxing book ☺.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Nice story of two people in love.....Molly and Eli, but too intimated to let the other know their feelings. Then throw in a crooked villain and you have an interesting story.
First off, this book was originally called Dejected in Denver, and was part of the "Yours Truly: The Lovelorn" series. That series was discontinued, so this book was changed slightly, renamed to "Molly", and is now the first book in the Brides of Fremont County series.
This was an OK American historical romance, with likable characters, but it was just too short to have enough character development. I needed more backstory on both Molly and Eli. It gets 3 stars from me.
I thought it was silly that Molly and Eli didn't have the courage to share their feelings. They were in love, but both thought the other just wanted them as a friend. If they had just talked a little sooner, it would have saved them both a lot of misery.
Molly and Eli were both likable, and I was glad when they found their HEA.
This is a clean romance, with nothing but kisses. If you only want to read romances that do not include sex scenes, this one might work for you.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
