And on an entirely different level than the women I’m accustomed to.
She’s loyal and about her paper. That’s why I’d sacrifice the only friendships I’d ever known, wait for however long it took her to be ready, and happily sever ties with anyone who didn’t agree with or was against our union. Because the little spoiled brat that I once considered off-limits had given me a taste of her forbidden fruit and there was nothing I’d stop at to maintain the privilege of burying my seeds in her garden.
He’s a friend.
And doesn’t mind risking it all for me.
The truth is, I just can’t get enough of him. From his jet-black skin to his uncompromisingly addictive smile, he has me in a chokehold. However, our union isn’t as simple as we wish it was. That’s why I can’t see myself breaking my brothers’ hearts, destroying our family’s dynamic, or disappointing the man that means the most to me to be with him. I’d already cost him enough pain and suffering for the sake of love. I couldn’t bring myself to do it again.

I really wanted to like this book but I found it was just a bunch of rambling about nothing with no real ploy. The author was giving way to much details that was unnecessary. This could’ve been a novella
Well, I need a drink. My book friends warned me about Lyric. I purposely put that book off cause I was not in the mood to be stressed. But I wanted to read Laike's story, so I had to read Lyric's story. And I can say this was by far the most exhausting book I think I've read. Okay…maybe I'm exaggerating, but it was really exhausting reading about Lyric and Keanu. Mostly Lyric. I still don't see what the big deal was about them dating. It's not like Keanu was a bad guy. He is her brothers' best friend, they trust him with their lives, and her family loves him. Like why wouldn't they want that for her. Lyric and Keanu definitely took us through it for that happy ending. Their chemistry was so magnetic, they couldn't stay away from each other. Did they try to stay away from each other? I'm going to say a big fat no…they just couldn't. I was so disappointed in Collin. Like what happened. Like, you were all good in my book until you started to be slick at the mouth. But look what it got you. This was a really good book, though exhausting, I enjoyed it. Before I end this review, I want to mention two things. First, Ever. Why in the world was she so sweet? I love that woman. Her heart is pure and beautiful, and everyone needs an Ever in their lives cause that woman is a saint. And secondly, let's talk about how dark Keanu was 🥰😍. Just how I like em. Dark Dark. Damn, I love a chocolate man😌. Ms. Grey is becoming a fave, and I can't wait to dive into Laike's shenanigans.
Lyric and Keanu were intense! Their love was intense. Their passion was intense, their fight was intense whew baby! You made us work for this HEA Grey! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of Lyric and Keanu. They were worth the wait for sure.
We were first introduced to the Eisenberg princess during Luca’s story (still very much book bae btw). Even then I fell in love with her! The way she came through in Ever’s time of need was unmatched and was a true testament to her character! She was so loving and pure and kind hearted and giving! Who wouldn’t fall in love with her.
We got a brief introduction to Keanu in Luca but baby he was a whole beast in Lyric. Grey’s ability to write these strong protective loving kingly black men is unmatched! 🥰🥰 Luca and Keanu made the ultimate sacrifice for those they loved without a blink of the eye. Laike got some large shoes to fill coming behind Luca and Keanu! That hospital scene between Luca and Keanu….🤧😭 I needed a minute! It spoke to everything that these warrior men stood for!
Ever is just so amazing in the way that she speaks life into everyone. I didn’t think I could love her anymore than I already did, but I do!
I already know that Laike and Baisleigh are about to stress me all the way out but I’m ready for their story. We got and easy love with Luca and Ever and and intense one with Lyric and Keanu. One can only prepare for how Laike and Baisleigh are coming.
Lyric and Keanu had that stressful kind of love. This chic tap danced on my last damn nerve but, I was pickin’ up what Lyric was puttin’ down. Considering the last time she was in a relationship, Luca spent eight years in jail. So, I understand her hesitancy to commit herself to another man. I get it. I do but, it’s Ken. Had they known from the beginning, I just don’t think Luca and Laike would’ve given a rat’s azz about them being together. I mean, the man is their BFF so, they knew Lyric was in good hands. Hell, they didn’t too much care when they finally did find out so she took Keanu through all that drama for nothin’. Between Keanu’s ego and pride and Lyric’s immaturity and need for secrecy, these two gave me a headache. But, I absolutely adored them as a couple. Their attraction and chemistry were unmatched and once Keanu was finally able to love Lyric out loud, I think we all breathed a heavy sigh of relief. I know I did. Now, I went into Lyric’s story prepared for all this angst between her and Keanu. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Laike and Baisleigh give me that mature love that’s light on the drama.
I’m happy that Lyric and Keanu found their happiness….I’m sorry Collin had to suffer, he seemed like a good dude. Lyric had a lot to let go of to actually find her freedom and happiness with Keanu. Now, I’m really can’t wait for Laike’s book…I know he’s going to take us on a ride.
You could feel the intense attraction between Keanu and Lyric, at that mall sighting, and I should have known then what was up! That beautiful e-mail that Lyric sent to Keanu, lit the fire to a tense yet beautiful beginning to forever! I was so ready for Lyric's story, as she needed and deserved her HEA. But ya'll could have warned a sister, ok? Between her fear and stubbornness, she had me ready to fight her! I'm yelling at my kindle, girl get you ish together before you lose this man! 🤬 Why did she think her brothers would be angry in the first place? This was their boy, the one they trusted with their lives! Why wouldn't they trust him to care for their sister? On one hand I felt for Lyric as she was still having trouble releasing the guilt she had for Luca's bid. But girl come on now! You know what kind of man Keanu is! He was not going to allow you to keep him in the shadows! Neither of you deserved that! Keanu, try to understand yo girl. You can't just have your way all the time! Work on your communication and show some patience. You acting spoiled like Lyric's ass! Damn! Their blowup was explosive! I was not certain what it would take to get them back on track! NO! 💔 These two were already fragile and did not need anything else to push them over the edge! But it helped draw them closer instead. That scene with Keanu and Luca in the parking lot..... whew! 😭 I love these two together, but they did have me fussin' and cussin'! 😂 Now, Laike! I cannot wait to get into his story and find out what happened with him and Baisleigh. IF she allows him back into her space, she is going to give him hell, I can just feel it! But I'm ready. I think! 😂 Another great read! 👍👍👍
I LOVED Luca so I really expected to love Lyric just as much. I am a homebody and introvert so I just knew Lyrics story would resonate. I could not suspend my disbelief with this one y’all. I was ANNOYED for most of the book and found myself skim reading. You mean to tell me your brother can marry your best friend but you can’t marry his? 🤔 I just wasn’t buying the whole “forbidden romance.” Yall are grown grown. Stop playing. Keanu was painted as the one messing things up for them but in my opinion it was Lyric. Also typos are distracting for me. I usually look past them in KU books but there were alot in this one. There was also a lot of unnecessary description but I expected that because the same was done in Luca. I’m glad I got a glimpse of Laike and Baisleigh though. I really want to see their story unfold
I’m trying to love this series as much as everyone else. But the first two books just didn’t wow me. I do love the characters and the bond they all have, but I just don’t know. It’s really the unnecessary descriptions for me. I thought Lyric & Ken’s story would be my favorite, but I guess not. The beginning started off so good. But most of this was just endless pages of sex? Which I do enjoy, but it was way too much. Their relationship was also so exhausting with the constant back and forth. Lyric was soo exhausting. I just can’t fathom why you care about your brothers opinions so much, you’re a grown ass woman. I understand why she didn’t want to let them know in the beginning, but she really dragged it on for so long to the point where they found out after her miscarriage. I’m kinda happy I finished, I was about to DNF. Fingers crossed for Laike.. I’m already this far into it, I might as well finish this series.
Lyric & Ken where steammmyyyyy af baby 😮💨🔥 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 Ken did not play with Lyric spoiled ass. Luca married yo whole best friend and you scared to tell him about you and Ken? Girl plssssss be fa real. I did enjoy this one just not as much as Lucas book. I felt for Lyric having guilt not wanting to fall in love after 8 years she needed a KEN not a Collin ‼️ So glad she got her happy ending.
Ms. Huffington I guess excessive dialogue is just how you write. I was skipping pages again. 😩 & why we jumped to 3 years later Damn you skipped a lot. 🙄
Fear can be blinding. Lyric and Ken are a reflection of that. They got on my last nerve but their imperfections and flaws made them unique. I wish the reveal to the family could have been better ,also I wish we had more of them as a couple. I rate this a 3.5
I enjoy this, it was so good Lyric got on my last nerve with keeping this a secret from her family. Like this man was ready to scream his love for her from the rooftops and she just so scared of what her brothers is gonna do. Girl you a grown woman, they’ll get over it! Other than that, I absolutely loved this series and will be buying the physical copies.
Ain't no way fictional characters should stress me out like this. Baby, Keanu and Lyric had me stressed! Sweet Lyric wanted to do right by her family. After Luca, made the ultimate sacrifice for her she wanted to make sure she chose the right man. She felt like that meant she needed a safe choice. Unfortunately, for her Keanu was anything but safe. I understood her hesitation in the beginning, because sir had the audacity to think she was just waiting for him after he ghosted her?? Yeah okay. Collin wasn't even a viable candidate though, he was in fact lame and I was just waiting for a spicy twist, but it never came. She was unable to resist the firework connection that she had with Keanu, but her actions after stressed me out. I just wanted her to make it make sense. I get it she was scared, but why drag someone else into her mess? Then force the man you love into secrecy. She wore me out with that foolishness and the hurt she inflicted on Keanu was so unnecessary...they had me stressed you hear me. That aside I really appreciated the way the author described Lyric, the detail of how well she took care of herself with her face routine, the time she put into her body, and how thoughtful she was with her appearance it helped with the expensive air she exuded and you understood why Keanu spared no expense. The love and affection she showed her nieces and the way she nurtured her brothers added extra emphasis to her being ready to be a mother. That she was ready for a family. Keanu wore me out. He sucked at communication when he had BIG feelings. He felt his actions should've been enough to make his intentions known. They were and sometimes his actions showed he wasn't quite ready. He was head over heels in love with Lyric, that was his one, but I didn't like how easy it seemed to be for him to walk away. Okay you want to love her out loud, but distancing yourself for that long when you know she's fragile. Seems hella childish to me. The way the author described his familial background you could tell he desired to be loved wholly. I think he tried to communicate how important this was for him, but to me it almost felt like he felt his feelings were more important than Lyric's and it all just added to the push and pull between them. I wanted to like Keanu more, but to me he lacked patience at critical times for Lyric. In the bedroom that was where they had no problem communicating with their bodies. These two bout took me out with that spitting, cuz no, just no. I lowkey hated the way the family found out about them, it just didn't feel quite right. I was happy that they finally got their HEA. I only wish we got to see more of them together. I wanted to see them as parents. I wanted to feel Keanu's love for his girls and honestly that and all the damn unwarranted stress had me at 4 stars. The strife I felt for them and the way the author made me CARE about these characters took me to 4.5 stars and I rounded up because I really loved these flawed characters.
I would be remissed if I didn't talk about the family, the sub characters. Ever was such an important character. Her love and thoughtfulness shined bright and she did her best to support Lyric even when she disagreed with her actions. She knew immediately that their connection was special and she wanted her friend to see that. It was great to see her and Luca doing well still head over heels and expanding their little football team. Laike was his normal annoying yet caring self. He definitely caused Lyric to think about her actions s few times. I really wanted to see Lyric in Keanu's space. It was a miss to me that there was no scene with her and Nanny. Still it is definitely a great love story of two beautifully flawed people. I'm ready for Laike's story! .

The best friend's younger sister's love story is another goody good for me. The funny thing about those stories, it does not matter to the older brother that his sister is an adult. Lyric had two headstrong domineering brothers she did not want to disappoint, and she tried to love Keanu too. In the story, a few things were clear. The family was close-knit, Lyric was spoiled and the connecting piece for the Eisenberg and the Brinks family, and no matter how long it would take, she would find the lyrics to the perfect tune.
Grey Huffington will always be one of my top picks. Another great read. I was screaming so much. I was mad, but at the end I was good. Just read the damn book.
Wow, Wow, Wow!!! It all I can say about this book. I read this book one kindle unlimited so it took me some time to actually finish this book. But Grey Huffington did not disappoint me. Lyric was just as good as Luca was and I can not wait to read the other books in this series. Keanu and Lyrics was just the perfect couple in this story and yes I love the way the way the book ended too. The way they complained each other and got mad with each other in the story was like I was reading a in person love story. Lyric was such a head strong lady but when it came down to allowing Keanu to do what he needed to do for her in this book she was will and allowed him to be the man she knew he was. I was so connected to all the characters in this book on their own personal levels and i loved it. The love story in this book and the descriptive written was just the best. It is and has some spicy scenes in the book but it was no too too spicy but also it had some sad moments in here also but over all it was so great.
Lyric (The Eisenburg Effect #2) by Grey Huffington is about Lyric Eisenburg and Keanu Brinks. After reading “Luca”, I highly anticipated this book! Lyric’s last relationship ended with one of her brother’s going to prison for 8 years. So she’s a little (very) leery of getting into a relationship, it doesn’t help that she’s in love with her brothers’ best friend. It makes sense that she loves Ken, she grew up with him, she knows what type of man he is. With a slight nudge from her bestie she decides to write him about her feelings while he’s locked up. The email is everything 🥹 Lyric has a way with words. When she’s left on read, she has no choice but to move on. I completely understand Lyric’s hurt, she poured her heart out to him and to not get a response would devastate anyone. Keanu is a man of few words but a whole lot of action! When he pulls up on her, ain’t no moving on. I’m glad we got to see Ken’s inner thoughts about how much the letter meant to him, I just wish he had expressed it better to Lyric. I appreciate that both characters are flawed. Keanu with his ego/pride and Lyric with her immaturity/need for secrecy. The miscommunication trope is heavy in this one, these two flew off the handle easily and didn’t problem solve until they were forced to. Keanu definitely studied Lyric, he knows her loves, likes and dislikes and responded accordingly. He was not afraid to ball out on her, he basically said we together now so you’re my responsibility. 🖤 Overall cute story, very different vibe than Luca. These two were doing a different kind of screwing 🫢 My only wish is that I got to spend more time with them as a couple once it was out in the open.
I wanted to give this one a higher rating, but in the end I just couldn’t. One aspect of this story really bothered me and that was Lyric’s immaturity. Throughout the story she acted more like a woman in her early twenties instead of a grown ass woman in her thirties! To say her immaturity was annoying is an understatement. Like this woman was a whole high school teacher age and she still hiding and living in shadows. While I thoroughly enjoyed the idea of Lyric and Keanu, I just wasn’t feeling Lyric in this story. Actually, Keanu was acting a little young too for a thirty-six year old 🤔 In Luca’s story she was a whole nuther somebody.
Maybe it’s me, putting the series down here. This was overwritten and drawn out. 500 pages and not much happened. Lyric was too immature for her age. After confessing her love in the opening chapters, she ran away from it up until the very very end.
Baby! What a journey! Lyric and Keanu frustrated the hell out of me and each for sooo many reasons! The fear that Lyric held onto was valid but she was making some terrible decisions! Keanu really only messed up 3xs but whew each time was some mess! Cheap perfume stay on a man longer than anything! Lol with all the confusion one thing for certain was that these two loved each other! Nothing could get in the way of that! And I was so happy to see them get that HEA. I wish the reveal could’ve been done differently but ultimately the decisions made it had to be revealed that way. Collin was off and I’ll just say that. Deidra was a thirsty bird and it’s a shame smh. Glad those two are in the past! The epilogue was beautiful and only made me want more from this couple! Maybe Kindevella? I’d be here for that! This book was a 4/4.5 star for me! Luca is still king but Lyric was still a great story!
This story took me through all of the emotions.... half the time I was mad and the other half happy. Lyric and Ken were getting on my last nerve, all that back and forth gave me whiplash......smh. Yet in the end it all worked out and I had a big smile on my face. Super cute story.
I’m not going to lie Lyric was starting to irritate me. I had to take a break and read something else. Like girl, how are you going to write him then keep him a secret cause you’re scared. You either want to love him out loud or not at all. This back and forth has to stop. It literally was making me cringe.
Whewwww Keanu! I. Was. Not. Readyyyyy! My word! This was a good one. I enjoyed it. Happy to see Lyric grow and loved reading about Ever and Luca again.
lyric and keanu 🫶🏽 their love was messy but unnecessarily necessary. they both were immature in their own right and stubborn!! but i am happy it all worked out for them! there were two scenes in this book that just grossed me out and annoyed me sooooo much lol which brought the rating down to a 3 at one point for me. however, i was eventually able to look past that and I continued to enjoy the storyline and their journey. lyric was messy at some point and weak in the knees chile and although i didn’t always agree with her decisions, keanu was the best person for her. 4 stars!!
If you loved this book I would advise not reading the review. Thank you.
So much miscommunication ☹️ so much "no you don't understand me"/"no listen to me"☹️.
I say this with all the love I have for Grey. Lyric was not it. I loved her in book 1; she was caring, considerate, loving, a day 1 bitch for Ever and the babies but the way she was moving with Ken? The way they talked to each other at the slightest inconvenience - it felt not Bonita to me.
I'm BIG on how books have me feeling when I read and when I was exhausted with Lyric, I was annoyed if I wasn't annoyed I was pissed off. She was moving like a 20 yr old wanting to keep Ken a secret after the vaycay - it's like she couldn't understand the betrayal Ken felt when he didn't tell his BEST FRIENDS that he was with his SISTER. While she was able to tell her bestie and her momma. Lyric was giving off the energy of the type of gf where she's nice to everybody else but her own man. Which really sucked since I was so excited for their story.
My heart broke for her with the baby though, I almost excused all the foul behaviour - ALMOST.
Let's move on the Ken. You are a grown man Keanu, why TF did you think hanging somebody out to Dry was in any way okay???? I also get pissed off when people make excuses for sayin' the most outta pocket BS and then following up with the "I was angry" line. Ken was somehow funnier in book 1, that's saying a lot since we saw him a couple of times so there's that - maybe I missed the jokes but it just didn't hit y'know.
Now, the smut was spectacular - I'm not even gonna hold you but I ended up Skipping a lot of it because of how they pissed me off without said smut.
Also, I don't think Ken was rushing her with not wanting to creep around - I can somewhat empathise with her POV but the way she was moving was foul. Her explanations were sub par at best.
I was looking forward to this book but I was let down. Everyone was complaining about Lyric but Ken was the problem. Every problem they had was created by Ken’s selfishness of thoughtlessness. He left her hanging after she poured her heart out any still had the audacity to be possessive. Every time Lyric did not act exactly how he wanted it was “I’m off you” or “stay away from me.” He claimed he would earn her but he continued to force her into uncomfortable situations. He would have “cheated” if she did not call him. Collin was a waste of space. He should have been written as a genuine option for Lyric rather than a nuisance.
