Ruthlessly Obsessed Duet #2

Ruthless Captor: 50 Loving States, New York Pt. 2

Rate this book
The Thrilling Conclusion to the Ruthlessly Obsessed Duet! Since our divorce, my ex-husband has become one of the most powerful crime bosses on the eastern seaboard. He's not someone you want to cross, and I did a good job of avoiding him for five long years. But then I lied to him. When he caught me in that lie, I admitted it. Finally told him the truth. And he immediately made me his prisoner. Because Luca Ferraro doesn't forgive and he doesn't forget. And as far as he's concerned, revenge is best served twice. But I'm going to get out of his prison. I am determined to escape. I just don't know if I'll be able to get away with my heart intact. Or my soul. Yeah, I think it's pretty safe to say... Worst Divorce Ever.

READER WARNING: This is a second chance romance gone dark. DO NOT finish this tale of ruthless love and obsession unless you are fully prepared for a hero who will stop at nothing to get his ex-wife back. Bring some tissue and some cuss words, and don't ever say we didn't warn you.

My heart is broken. You will know what I'm talking about when you get there. On a final note, I'm more interested in Stone's Story than the teaser we get at the end of the book.

Longer review to follow ... eventually ... maybe.

So worth the wait for this exciting conclusion!

It's official for me with Luca and Amber being my favorite couple in the Ruthless Tycoons series! Their love was never easy yet they got their happily ever after in a story full of twists and turns, push and pulls, deceptions, lies, betrayal and many tearful 'who knew' moments that kept me on the very edge of my seat as the eager reader! To give spoilers to "Amber -His to Reclaim (Ruthlessly Obsessed Duet, Book 2): 50 Loving States, New York Pt. 2 (Ruthless Tycoon 4)" would be an awful way to end the couple's struggle for readers who are clueless to exactly what it took for ruthless alpha, Luca to rightfully reclaim the woman he loved. But boy does he do just that... reclaim his family! Now I truly see why a part 2 couldn't be helped to pull off this exciting and memorable storyline. So kudos the Theodora Taylor on another job well done with favorable primary and secondary characters. And hopefully some of the secondary characters you will see fit to give them life in another series... hint-hint...

5 so worth the wait stars *****

Honestly, I did not care too much for Amber. She was not very nice to Luca. She got the right one though because Luca was living that thug life and did not hesitate to handle her though. I loved Luca. I am so glad that they finally their HEA. It took a minute, but they finally got there. Great job, Ms. Taylor!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Luca and Amber's story is the best of the 3. I'd read this again in a hurry. I was really happy that they worked things out eventually. I think Amber's brother Peter got less than he deserve especially after hearing what he did in Book 1. It was really sad to read about one of the characters who was slowing growing on me but anywho.....this was a great read in my opinion and I'm hoping to read about Stone soon or Dawn.

This was better than the first book. Unknown twists and suspense just kept on coming. And I enjoyed all of it. It amazes me still to remember how their story started and now ended in a completely different way.
Recommended.
Looking forward to next book in series and I sincerely hope she makes the next couple faithful to each other.

I just got the ARC yesterday, and I read+ finished it.
Not as exciting as the first, but I thought the entire duet was well written. Probably one of the author's best? I wanted to read the book, but I wasn't as focused on speeding through it like I had with the first.
Sometimes the random changes in POV was a bit confusing, but I liked it overall. Especially when it switched to the obgyn's POV. I really want to know if Naima is gay? Or if her and Stone had a thing. And the whole Japanese mafia thing at the end.

Did I not like Luca? Did I not like Amber? Cause something here was just missing. I mean I get it they love each other, but why? It just wasn’t believable. They didn’t have one conversation that dealt with their issue of mistrust. Magically she found forgiveness and could deal with he’s dangerous life style. We had like one sentence about Luca’s realizing he had PTSD then puff, back to waffles. If it wasn’t for the Stone, Rock, Nami situation who knows if I would have made it. Let’s get that one out ASAP.

Poor Rock.....

I liked the first book better (LUCA - Her Ruthless Don (Ruthlessly Obsessed Duet, Book 1): 50 Loving States, New York, Pt. 1) but OTT stuff aside this wasn't bad, on the contrary. I both loved and hated Luca in this one and I think that's not actually a bad thing.

Overall I enjoyed this duet.

Onto STONE: Her Ruthless Enforcer: 50 Loving States, North Carolina next! Now that's a story I can't wait to read.

I'm trying to get my thoughts together on this one right now, because it didn't really wow me. And for the first time Theodore did not stick to the characteristic traits of our hero and heroine. Luca and Amber were all over the board for me. With juvenile displays from characters who are supposed to be in their thirties. Him kidnapping her really was not a good plot point, and was rather boring. Her friend Niama was far too naive for someone who deals with cases of children in the social services system. And many things just didn't and up.

When I read mafia stories I expect a certain level of gritty illegal activity. There really wasn't much evidence to show that Luca was the don of a supposedly thriving crime syndicate, except that he killed a couple people. But sadly I can say that this is one genre Theodore Taylor has not impressed me in. It was all kind of blah for me.

What a great end to Amber and Luca's story. This was a fast paced exciting ride that ultimately ends with this couples HEA but it was sure a rough ride to them getting there. There are moments when you think you have this story figured out only to be thrown a curve ball that leads to something or someone unexpected. Amber and Luca's journey is a tear filled suspense filled with mystery, action, and in the end , hard fought and won undying love. There are hint's in the story to what Ms Taylor has for us next but if I can put my 2 cents in, I'm hoping for cold and unfeeling Stone to get a chance at love. Anyway, this was another great read from this author and I'm already looking forward to what she has coming up next.

Very disappointing: Nothing New Here

The ruthless mafioso who struggles with legitimacy? Read Alexie R's story.
The rough around the edges tough guy who can't get enough of his pregnant wife and takes in the parentless relative? Read Nikolai R's story.
The Stockholm Syndrome plot? Read Ivan R's story.
And the name change plot line went from a nice reflection of 21st century independent woman to a sexist option many women still feel the need to choose.
Part one of this story showed great promise, but in part two it's clear the author decided to play it safe and stick with a formula. Very dissappointing?

Wow, there were some surprises and ugly cry moments in book two, author Theodora Taylor took us no a ride in Amber - His to Reclaim. There are twists, and things revealed that no one saw coming. Wow oh wow was all I could say apart from the crying. Amber is a Boss! The ending was so unexpected, thoughts of betrayal, loss of a loved one, and gaining a precious gift.

1. More ruthlessness to come: who is Victor Chang?
2. Is Diamond going to get her own story?
3. Are we going to learn more about Dr. Glendaver? There is an interesting story there.
4. Stone? That is all I am saying.

“I’m glaring at her across a platter of fuck you spaghetti, and she’s pasting on another insincere smile to say ‘Mangiam-‘

I pick up the plate of spaghetti and sling the goddamn thing before the snide invitation to eat up is fully out her mouth…

And then there’s the look on Amber face…

Her smile’s not nearly so insincere now. In fact , her eyes sparkle with the triumph of finally making me break.

But do I dial it back? Ty to get a hold of myself?

That would be a big old nope.

‘Serve me this shit again and I’ll tell Stone to go ahead and end that assistant of yours.’

‘This is why… this is why I didn’t tell you, you fucking animal!’

‘I’m only acting like an animal because you pushed me. What kind of rabid harpie makes spaghetti for twenty days straight?’

‘The kind of rabid harpie who’s being held against her will by a monster who refuses to let her go.’ ‘I have to work. Clients who depend on me. A best friend who doesn’t remotely deserve what you’re doing to her!’

‘Do you think I give one goddamn about your work schedule? Or your best friend? You tried to keep my son away from me! My son!’

‘Yes, I did,’ ‘Because you’re the kind of egotistical asswipe who kidnaps someone for not telling you she made the stupid mistake of getting pregnant with your child. A man-child who commands his prisoner to cook for him then throws spaghetti and threatens to kill another innocent person instead of just saying ‘Hey Amber, make something else’- even though you’re the one holding all the cards and I have exactly zero choices here!’

‘I shouldn’t have to tell you not to make spaghetti twenty goddamn days in a row!’

‘And I shouldn’t have to cook for the worthless scum who’s holding me prisoner and just threatened to kill my assistant. Yet here we are!’

This book is part 2 of Luca book, and if you haven’t read the first book yet, STOP! Please go back and read Luca book so that you can fully understand how these two started.

Going off the first book and it’s ending, Luca finds out that Amber is pregnant with his child. And in order to make sure she comes without any huge fuss, he kidnaps not only her but also her best friend, who been there for her since the two started Naima. Amber goes with Luca, but not as a easy captive but as a captive that will do anything in her power to make sure, she and her child, as well as Naima makes it out of there and away from him.

But Luca is not dumb, and will do anything and everything to make sure he keeps his wife and child close to him at all cost. Now if you read Luca’s book you already know how strong will both of these two are, and how much they belong to one another. Even Naima knows this as she keeps trying to tell Amber that he’s not as bad as he seems. Which of course falls on Amber deaf ears, blindness will not keep her from seeing what she knows about Luca. Even if what she thinks she knows is not all that correct.

Just to change to go off subject here with our two main love birds, let’s talk about Naima really quickly. I love Naima and I really do hope she gets her own book. I mean she deserve one after all she’s been through and not to mention how tight her and Rock become. It even gets to the point when Amber points it out to her that Rock is only doing what Luca tells him to do, and that he doesn’t have feeling for her. And of course the two go at it over the difference of their situations and have words with one another. Even to the point where I myself felt that Amber step over the line, I know that she’s doing what she thinks is best for her friend. But just like she made her choices, she should allow Naima to make the same one. Yes a little warning was all she needed to do but for her to go over that is too much. Because maybe she doesn’t know everything as much as she assuming to know.

But you can see that rock truly has feeling for Naima, and that they’re kind of cute together, a real quick happy ending. And speaking of Rock I cannot believe what happens. It broke my heart, and I was crying out nooo. Rock is the man and I really enjoy his in Luca’s book and even more in this book. He loyal to Luca, but he cannot help but want Naima, and she him. Even though I kind of want Naima to get with Stone, I would not mind that these two get together. And as I said before it would’ve been a quick and cute love story.

And to continue to go off topic of our two main characters, let’s talk about Amber assistant, Diamond. She is awesome and someone I need by my side if things ever went sour like that. She is a incredible, and one person that Luca did not think he would need to worry about. It’s not only males that know how to do the dangerous things she know, there are dangerous females out there as well. So when she gets on his property without him, or his security knowing I knew that Luca have better get himself together before things turn really ugly. Since Diamond is a girl that you want on your team, not against your team. I also hope Diamond gets her own story too. I know Theodora Taylor do shifters books as well, and I haven’t got to any of them just yet, but maybe that’s what Diamond needs. Or at least a hard headed Alpha males that needs to be put in his place. Maybe Stone, but I kind think Stone and Naima belong together. Naima can give him a real hard time for the way he treated her in the very beginning.

But with that being said let’s talk about my least… well my unlikeable characters in this book, the biggest one being Amber second oldest half-brother, Peter, and the second one being her first oldest brother Danny Jr, and what a piece of shit they both are, but more so Peter. He’s such an jerk to her, demanding she do this that and the other to bring Luca down. Not really caring about the fact that his sister could be hurt. Even though we the readers know that Luca would NEVER harm her. Look at all the thing he’s done for her when she and him were together when they were younger. How much he sacrifice, what he’s done to make sure that she was safe. How destroy he was to find out that someone beat her up and killed their growing child in her stomach.

Then for them to meet years later and get her pregnant again in the car while taking her home. That’s a lot to take in and deal with, and through all that you get the feeling that he will still, no always love her no matter what. She is his wife, for better or for worse. And as much as Amber try to make him seem like a monster and wants nothing to do with him, she shows not only herself but the readers that she still loves him. More than her messed up half older brother who can really care less about her. It doesn’t take a genius for anyone to see that he doesn’t care about her as much as he’s faking it to her. I just hope she can see it before it’s too late.

As for Danny Jr he is just another chess piece on this board. It’s like Peter doesn’t truly care about his brother, much less his half-sister. Peter might have given up the last name of Peretti, and claim he nothing to do with that life, but his actions speaks for themselves how much that is not true. Even though Danny Jr is the oldest, the way he listens to Peter and does whatever he says makes it seems like he’s the youngest. Danny on the other hand is an abusive male that blames his victim for what he does when he throws him tantrums like a little boy. You hear him say a lot “look at what you made me do. This is your fault.” Or “I didn’t mean to do that, you made me do it.” It’s sad that you find out that the little girl Daniella is really living in this type of house hold.

I do enjoy how Amber gets back at Luca for forcing her to cook for him, she keeps making him Italian when she know he hates it. It reminds him of what happen when her father kidnap him and torture him and her mother would feed him Italian. This scene is so horribly funny to me, because she is doing what he told her to do, giving her no choice in the matter. And so she’s not giving him any choice but to eat the spaghetti and meatballs. Every single night, lol the torture, they’re both stubborn and torturing themselves.

I love the fact that these two go through so much hell but eventually they end up together, they really do deserve one another. They’re soul mates that will always be together no matter what. What I enjoy though, is when his two best friends Holt, and Zahir begin to get on him about how he is treating Amber. They don’t really know how he is treating Amber, but they do warn him to treat her well, since their wives, Sylvie and Prin are worried about her.

This scene is super sweet because if you read Holt story, and if you haven’t it was mention in Luca’s, Amber was Sylvie lawyer when Holt tried to take her to court for their son Barron. And also with how Amber feels about his two friends in general, its lovely that they would look out for her, not only because of their wives request, but because they like her as well. In the moment I’m sure Luca was not looking forward to hearing any of that, but later I’m sure he appreciated the intention behind it.

this was alright. i feel like i’m reading the same thing as the past few books i’ve read by the author. luca and amber’s relationship deteriorated and it ended their relationship despite them still having feelings for one another. although luca thought he could give up his family legacy as a mafioso, things started crumbling and he went back while amber became a great lawyer. both at opposites of the justice system didn’t help as well. luca and amber’s story was okay. i wasn’t fully invested and skimmed some parts.

Luca and Amber finally got their HEA. I don't know why Amber felt as though she needed her brother, when he never treated her as kin. I was so heartbroken about what happened to Rock. Amber friend and Stone need a story.

Alpha vs. Alpha

Amber and Luca finally got their HEA with an added bonus. They went through it, lies, secrets, betrayal, kidnapping, murder and loss of love ones, but they came out on top. I am still sad over the loss. Hope to read more on Naima and Stone. Just saying!!

Oh Mrs. Ferraro!

Amber just can not get a break from the mob life. In the last part of "Luca", Luca said he wanted everything. In "Amber", we find out what "everything" means. Luca is mad as hell when he found out that Amber was pregnant with his baby and that Amber was not going to tell him, butt raise their son with Naima. He wanted revenge for that when he had she and her best friend Naima kidnapped. But the more he's around Amber, the more those old feelings come flooding back to heal his icy heart.

Amber is mad as hell at Luca for kidnapping she and her friend who proceed to find to plot a way to escape their prison so Amber can return to the WITSEC program. But the more she's around Luca, the more those old feelings come flooding back. He's the only man besides her father that she ever loved. They both succumb to their old feelings.

Just when the readier thinks they finally get their HEA, Amber is kidnapped again and find a out who was really responsible for her losing her first baby. It was not Luca's lifestyle as Don, as she originally thought, but her own old life and family. My heart just broke when she discovered Rock in the cell with her. He desperately wanted to get out of the life and he did, for the love of Naima only to be punished for it.

Theodora wrote a story that was well plotted, full of suspense and action. I love the way she seamlessly included the back story into the plot. In her narrative after the story, she said she had two more spinoff stories, but I see more. I see a story about the good doctor Olivia Glendaver, one about the Dawn and Victor Zhang story, one definitely about Stone Peretti, and one about Naima's situation after leaving. Amber and Luca finally get their HEA with an extra child to boot. This story did not fail to keep my attention as all of Theodora's books do

The sequel to "Luca," I can see why the author split this story in to two parts and finished things up with "Amber." There was so much complicated history between Amber and Luca, not to mention their present day reunion of sorts.

This is a solid, adventurous story that shows sometimes how thin the line is between love and hate as well as sometimes you have to trust even when it seems impossible to do so. Luca is ruthless AF, no doubts, so adding in feisty Amber and their complicated history makes for a powerful story. Well, that and Amber's pregnancy. Ooo boy.

I got where both characters are coming from, though I found myself actually a little more sympathetic to Luca than I thought I would be if only because sometimes the protection one wraps around one's self with lies and denials can be worse than being honest and dealing with the consequences. Gritty, unflinching, and dark.

I am being vague cause I don't want to spoil all of the twists and turns... not to mention the future book or two of couples I see happening from this story... but this is a really good book and an excellent conclusion to the love story of Luca & Amber.

Great Reads

I loved both books. Amber and Luca were perfect. I dnt know where to start so I'm simply going to say this. I was sad when their story concluded. I wanted more. I loved how fierce Amber was. Her disability didn't stop her but made her stronger. I loved their connection. I was glad TT didn't suddenly give Amber back her sight. She was perfect as written. I loved how Luca never stopped fighting for his Amber. Both books were great. I highly recommend them. I'm not going to say anything else except please read them. You won't be disappointed. I'm hoping the next book will be Stone and Nai. I hope they can heal each other. I was really sad about what happened to Rock. I didn't see that coming. I hope Stone and Nai can heal each other. They deserve their HEA together. What happened to Rock cut them deeply. I'm excited and curious to read about Dr. Whiskey. She needs her own story. She is quite interesting. She needs a book. But not before Nai. Nai has waited long enough.

O. M. Geeee!!!

What a story! Took me through ALL the emotions! The anxiety I had about Amber's 'talks' with Peter. Stressing about who the mole was, which had me side-eyeing EVERYbody! Stone, Naima, Matti, the Doctor, even Diamond, lol. Trying to hold back the tears while reading the cabin scene. And the way we were allowed to see Lucky's arrival through the doctor's eyes instead of Amber or Luca was genius. I'm hoping we get to see her again.

Never saw the potential Stone relationship coming, but I love it! And while I suspected we would see the Chinese gang again, the way they're being introduced is going to be quite interesting. Can't wait!

My love for Theodora Taylor continues to grow. She's definitely in her own writing lane and has a real talent for telling a good love story, no matter the genre, century or species, lol. So grateful that she's sharing her gift with us!

How can you top these two characters?!

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for this book and The Ruthless Tycoons series. To say that Amber's and Luca's story was a great read is putting it mildly. By far, they have to be my favorite couple in the 50 Loving States series! You have a true alpha man and a strong woman battle the throes of their passion, live and respect for one another. Child....I have no words to describe this love story being my favorite! Absolute favorite! Just no words to articulate how much I love these two characters. I need Stone's and Naima's story to be just as grand. I don't know how Victor Zhang and Dawn's story is going to be, but after Luca and Amber's story....how do you top that. Theodora had better come correct from this point forward with allllllllllllll of the other books in this series!

What the... I don't know, after hating him and she got me to love Luca again!!! Of course amber is my girl. I thought she was crazy with a few of her decisions but all and all i think she's an awesome character. She didn't let her Sightlessness limit how great she can be. Lucky and Dani are lucky to have her in their lives.

Danny Jr and Peter are trash. Naima is amazing. An awesome best friend! And I had a soft spot for Rock. I really thought Rock and Naima would have a book. I could really see a Naima and Stone book

Now I'm so Intrigued about this silent triad leader and how amber will be able to help dawn

Not bad...

I've read several of this authors books. This one was a little difficult to stay with and finish, though I forced myself to finish it because I hate to leave books hanging. The heroin in this book drove me a little crazy and at times the authors narrative on her seemed a bit much....or it could just be that I didn't care for Amber though I respected her spirit and determination. The other books in this series were more engaging. I would still suggest other readers check it out...Theodora is a really good author.

Ten More Minutes...

I LOVED this story! The conclusion (?) of Luca's and Amber's story started out with the abduction of pregnant Amber and her best friend Naima at the hands of Luca himself (via Stone). The story that should have been a simple abduction by a FURIOUS ex-husband, turned out to have many twists and turns and sneaky sub-plots and just many, many surprises! Excellent read!!!!

Loved Luca....

I love everything about Luca. And I truthfully can't wait for the drama to unfold between him and Victor.....or Luca teaches him how to get his family back and "act right". (,That would be a twist)
