Cheat on me once? Shame on you.
In fact, let's take it one step further.
I'll take your car, your job, your friends...
But let's focus on the job part.
I play drumkit better than I can speak most of the time, unless I'm singing.
I've made a name for myself as a singer, going viral everywhere. The thing is, no one knows my identity.
So when I steal my ex's position in his band and the lead singer says he hates me, while simultaneously announcing that my alter ego is his dream girl? I can't wait to see the expression on his face when he finds out who I really am.
Or when he finds out the rest of the band plus his manager are already in my bed and falling hard for me.
When everything comes to a point though, I might be the one that loses everything.

i saw that this book was a rockstar reverse harem novel and i was highly intrigued since i love to read books about bands/singers/hollywood, but this one just really fell flat for me.

my main issue were the characters. ALL of the characters. they felt really one dimensional and not at all distinctive when it came to their personalities.
the main girl, Nyx, was obnoxious and often i felt like i was reading from a teenager’s POV. she cursed wayyyy too much and listen, i don’t mind cursing in books at all, but in this book it was literally nearly every sentence she spoke.
the things she and the other characters said were also beyond cringy. if you read this, you’ll know what i mean. 😂 i tried my hardest not to roll my eyeballs.

the writing style was also an issue for me. as i said above, the cursing was overbearing and the text was lacking more depth. i feel like if i read this at the age of 14-16 i probably would’ve enjoyed it, but honestly this was too tacky for me. 😂
i also don’t really enjoy reading reverse harem books from male POVs because most of the time it’s too cringy and not well done. this book yet again proved that it’s true for me.

there isn’t really anything i loved about this book, so i thought i’d dnf because there are way more books i need to get to!

I love rockstar romances. Especially when they are all emotionally and mentally messed up. Give me ALL the drama. It’s an instalove friends to lover/enemies to lover romance, mediocre drama.

One thing I disliked, is I have no idea what the characters look like or their ages. There are small hints, his dimple, black hair, she has big boobs or a big ass, blonde hair. But that’s it. Also I have no idea how old any of them are. Obviously they are all adults…. but this lack of information kept taking me out of the book because I was trying to figure this all out. How long was she with Johnny. How old were they when he got signed or they broke up? Just annoying there was no information.

The way the book is written, the author didn’t put any indication who is saying what.. the conversations just jumps from paragraph to paragraph. Jumping between characters so you have no idea who’s talking. And it was so…. Wordy. They go on and on about their devotion and love. I started skimming paragraphs.

Over all its a 2⭐️read. This might be a harsh rating but it wasn’t anything I loved. I won’t ever reread. The characters didn’t move me. The story line was meh. I was invested until the last 30 minutes when I realized the direction it was going. Then I skimmed to the end. To me…. The ended sucked. The groveling and redemption was.. lackluster and just stupid. Hayes was a tool. He stayed a tool.

Touring trials and tribulations

Rockstars and Enemies to lovers, two of my favourite tropes star in this excellent story from Kelsey. She really captured the chaos and relentless travelling bands endure while on tour and the challenges that lifestyle brings.
All the guys bring something different to their relationship with Nyx, love her she’s a confident independent woman who knows her own worth.
Her love/hate relationship with Hayes is explosive, I want to slap some sense into him.
Lots of spice and scorching hot scenes here between Nyx and the guys, such an enjoyable book, will definitely be rereading this.

1.5 stars rounding up to 2. Great idea. I'm partial to rockstar romances, especially if the FMC is a badass or "supposed to be." Very, very, very poor execution.

It was like reading a word vomit of nonstop dialogue. Could've been one person speaking or five, I couldn't tell. Also, there were absolutely no descriptors? I wish an editor or two could've taken a gander at this. So much lost potential. There was so much dialogue that I had to skip paragraphs to get to where there wasn't anyone talking to get more information on the scene/situation.

Had to remember the MMCs by surface level information given -
1) Hayes was the insecure asshole threatened by talent that happened to own a vagina. I think he had shorn hair??
2)Reed was the one with the blinged up d*ck supposed dream-boat. If his peen wasn't mentioned, he could've been Cash
3) Duff was the nerdy best friend manager
4) Cash was the one that wasn't any of those... and I think had shaggy hair??

Wtf. Any interactions between the MMC and FMC could've been swapped with another MMC it would've made no difference. Except Hayes with the occasional mediocre hate f*ck, suck, showdown.

I understand the frustration when some authors give TOO MUCH description. But come on, if I know more details about one of their pierced d*cks than I do about how they look or any of their backstory, then that's a red flag of a novel.

The MMC insta-love because of female musical skills, badassery I-don't-give-a-f*ck attitude, and magic p*ssy just doesn't work without something MORE. I like a good insta-love story every once in a while but sproutin' love poems and talking about potential marriage 40% in without actually knowing any personal details about the FMC? COME ON.

I wish this novel could be reviewed.
Edited seven ways to Sunday.
Beta read.
And then republished one day.
I do not plan to revisit as it is now.

Just fucking no. There's a limit to the awkwardness I can endure. I like Nyx. She's an okay character. I liked the blurb. Now, the execution is very lacking. I'm almost in the middle of the book, and until now I have three fucking clues of what the characters look like, mind you, two of those are the FMC - blond with blue or green eyes and Hayes has a buzz cut. Wow, besides the fact that you keep telling me they're hot, I don't have any idea what they look like, but that really doesn't matter because none of them have a personality. Am I reading Reed's pov, Cash's, or Duff's? At least I know when I'm reading Hayes annoying the living fuck out of me. He's the guy who is pissed off with the FMC for no fucking reason. Why would a control freak, who cares so goddamn much about his band, try to sabotage the drummer and therefore, his own fucking band? It doesn't make sense! Don't even get me started on the instalove. This shit is so annoying.

Another random pick that was 💯🔥 I loved the song quote epigrahs! 💋❤️‍🔥 I loved the fmc a drummer battling a typical man's world situation with sass and strength. 🥰 hated Hayes until the twist! Love how it kept me interested. So fun! 👑🎼🎼🎵🎶🥁🎸🎤💍

Meh.
All the MCs in this story are egotistical and unlikable. It’s difficult to get through, and the language is quite crude.

I love Kelsey Soliz as an author! She is the author of one of my very favorite book series of all time. I just wish I loved this as much as I loved her other books.

This story has all the right ingredients to make it an amazing book: rockstars, music, romance, spice, a badass FMC, reverse harem! What’s not to love?

I think it must be tricky to write a rockstar romance though. I imagine rockstars in real life would be toxic romantic partners. So it’s gotta be difficult to write a realistic rockstar romance without the overwhelming toxicity. Though the toxicity is what is keeping this book from being amazing, in my opinion.

There isn’t much I dislike more in a romance than hate sex. This book takes hate sex and amplifies it. We get humiliation and degradation too. We get a hot and cold MMC who is sweet one minute and disgustingly vile the next. None of these things will ever work for me in a romance book.

All the other male leads were great. I adored the FMC. The writing was well done and the character development was pretty good. However, there was a little too much attention on that one bully of a male, and not enough attention on the sweet amazing guys.

- 👀 Multiple, First person POV
- 📖 Contemporary, Rockstar, Reverse Harem Romance
- 🤓 Tropes: “I’m mean because I like you”
- 🔪 Kick-butt FMC who sings, plays drums, guitar, and writes music
- 🥸 3/5 Character Development Stars
- 👥 Harem: 4 guys (3 rockstars + band manager)
- ♥️ 3/5 Romance Stars
- 🌶 5/5 Spicy Stars (all the spice! +Group activities)
- 🔥 Fast burn (super super fast burn)
- 👄 Kinks: humiliation and degradation, bondage, ‘cream pie stuffing’, DP, DVP, DVAP
- 🚫 No MM/FF
- ‼️ Triggers: H with OW after meeting FMC, cheating, heavy bullying, enemies to lovers, hot/cold MMC, hate sex

Unexpectedly delightful!

From the description of this book I thought this story would be extremely angsty, but I should know better from the author, this was a light, fun palate cleanser that was easy to escape into! Nyx is a fun character, strong, but not overpowered, and is relatable as a woman. I love the way she empowers herself throughout the story while including real life elements we normally wouldn't get in the books.

The guys are a fun mix. Duff is such an adorable cinnamon roll, you want to lick him at every meal. Cash and Reed are a package deal, its hard to want one without the other, especially with how easily their main focus is fulfilling Nyx's every need. And Haye's tests my patience, but the way he and Nyx fight really set fire to the page.

Having read most of Kelsey's catalog at this point, I already knew how varied her voice and stories could be. Still, she managed to knock my socks off again with a set of characters I want to follow long term.

Lowlife is about a musician named Nyx who has been dating her childhood friend and drummer of the uber-famous band Lowlife (Johnny) for years. One day she finds him cheating on her and is finally done. She calls up their other childhood friend (Duff, band manager) and takes Johnny's place as Lowlife's drummer for the concert that night. It's insta-love and insta-love/hate and a friends to lovers story all in one as the band travels together on tour with Nyx on drums.

I loved Nyx's character. She didn't take Hayes' nonsense and stood up for herself. She knew her own value and had individual relationships with each guy. She was different with all of them, but best together.

The guys (Duff, Hayes, Reed, and Cash) were all lovable in their own ways too. Hayes made you want to punch his pretty face but you can't help but love his obsessive crazy tendencies. Duff had the friends to lovers things going on, Cash and Reed were all-in from the beginning and provided a support system.

I do wish that Cash and Reed's back stories had been fleshed out more. While they were established as very different people and got their own scenes, I feel like I was missing something to separate them, like how Duff is the childhood friend and Hayes has drama/trauma in his past. I almost thought Reed and Cash were brothers (twins?) which in hindsight may have been an interesting twist on them.

Otherwise, I loved how I could easily picture these characters out in the wild with the way Kelsey described them. Wrapped around each other outside a diner, goofing off, etc. I also loved how Johnny wasn't just left as a villain--he had actual character development and didn't just serve as a plot device.

Bravo Kelsey!

I liked it up to a point, it was easy and quick to read and up to a certain part I liked Nix (then I stopped liking her in her relationship with Hayes, she was just silly and manipulative).

But the writing was really terrible. Few descriptions of anything, we don't know what the characters look like physically, the most we know is Nix's eye color and hair, and nothing else. We also don't get a description of their ages, I assume they were in their late twenties or early thirties, but they mostly acted like teenagers, so it was a bit confusing. It was all more dialogue than anything else and sex scenes, but that's as far as it went.

The relationships were very instalove and the love interests really didn't differentiate themselves from each other, except Hayes for how much of a jerk he was, but no one else. We don't know anything about them; we don't know their backgrounds, their families or anything else about them as characters other than what they've been friends for a long time, that they're in a rock band, what their roles are within the band and their names. Nothing else. We don't even know their last names.

The synopsis is appealing enough, but it wasn't a good book. Sorry. I should definitely stop asking for recommendations on Facebook, people have terrible tastes or like mediocre.

This rockstar why choose was awesome! I really enjoyed it from start to finish, and the author managed to draw my attention to the storyline from the very first chapter. Honestly, this book made me realise once again why I love this author so much, and wonder why I still have so many books of her untouched on my tbr. Our fmc is absolute perfection, simply because she isn't perfect at all. She has some rough edges, while being mushy on the inside, and makes mistakes along the way like all of us. But I love it when a character knows that about herself, and is willing to look at herself even when emotions run high.

I'm not exactly a fan of fast burn romances, and perhaps that's one of the reasons this book has been sitting on my tbr for some time. Still, I have to admit it didn't really bother me in Lowlife. The friends to lovers storyline with Duff works to introduce the spice, and with Cash and Reed it just feels inevitable from the start. They are like golden retrievers with an edge, and it's clear they won't let the girl of their dreams go once they found her. Still, I wouldn't say this is an insta-love story; it's more like their bodies speak before their minds and heart.

So yeah, I loved this rockstar standalone, and I once again realise I really need to make the time to read much more work written by this author.

It tried to be good, but it wasn't. The characters were all two dimensional and just horny puppets, except for Hayes who was both of the above and a raging asshole. His hold and cold behaviour and apologies followed by revenge schemes were disgusting and immature. Don't get me wrong, I love a morally gray MC, especially in a 'darker' relationship, but this was just toxic and childish. I know he said he got therapy, but I really think he needs to go back to it. Nyx was unbearably arrogant and such a 'special snowflake'. I did like how she wasn't afraid to be open about being sexually promiscuous and owned her sexuality, but other than that she was almost as bad as Hayes. The pair of them together were downright awful. I liked the idea of the book, but the execution was lacking in a million places, especially in the characters. Spoiler: I still think it's absolutely cheating when Hayes drunkenly messaged who he thought was another woman saying that he wanted to get married and have kids. I don't care that it was Nyx's alter ego, he didn't know at the time and would have thought it was another woman and THAT is cheating. Also the way he used her as a piece of meat to get off on was supposed to be sexy but because he was such a childish asshole it just felt misogynistic and degrading (and not in the good way). I wanted to love it, but I didn't. 3/10.

Devoured in one go!

📖 Lowlife
✍️ @kelseysolizauthor

Nyx is one of the best FMC ever! She knows her worth knows her strengths and after letting her boyfriend push all of them aside just to find out he was cheating, she had enough!

Duff has been in love with Nyx since they were kids and has been best friends with her and Johnny their whole lives. He is the manager of Lowlife and once he finds out about everything with Johnny he gives Nyx her shot.

Cash fell so fast he didn’t even bother hiding the fact he wanted Nyx from moment one. He spent the entire time showing her just how much he wanted her.

Reed was the same as Cash. He knew he wanted her and he didn’t hold back! Even getting a tattoo to symbolize Nyx within the first two months!

Hayes…this MF was the definition of love/hate relationships! I spent a good amount of this book threatening to break my kindle because his hot and cold was something of an emotional roller coaster! But to find out just how much he loved her…that shit broke me and I fell so hard for him!

I ordered this book within the first chapter! I HAD to have the physical copy because this sh*t is gold!

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
(Between the group s€x and the hate f*ck this one had it all! FYI not a kink book)

Rockstar whychoose standalone in Multi-POV. Insta-love with some friends-to-lovers and one guy who's all about hate/lust E2L but somehow also was insta love and while I love a good asshole redemption, none of what eventually came out made any sense to me or added understanding to his behavior towards her.

I enjoyed the FMC for the most part. I really liked her confidence and calling people out, especially the guys. I really liked her being a musician too.

I was expecting more connecting through music..... There are a couple of moments with one H, but it just read as stated lyrics to me 🤷 I wanted to see more of why they were each other's perfect fit, or see it through interactions and actions.

Which leads me to my main hangup.... This is my first read by this author. And maybe their style just isn't for me. Most of the book reads as dialog without anything descriptive around it beyond words stated. Sometimes I couldn't even tell who was speaking and would have to go back over it to take a guess. So, for me, that wasn't enough for me to feel the story or connect with the characters. And just the whole reading experience.... 😒.

okay miss kelsey!!!!!!!! ugh i am absolutely obsessed with reverse harem i can't get enough of it, and oh my god the fact that this is also a rockstar romance??? shaking.

this was such a fast read! i couldn't put the book down, i was blushing and screaming the entire time. those boys had me in a chokehold.

nyx is a badass female rockstar who takes absolutely no shit from no man. the mother of all mothers. i love her so f much y'all have no idea. and the boysssss??? cash, duff, hayes and reed had me hot and bothered, i loved them so much and their relationship with nyx "i want to make you my queen, nyx. everyone should bow to you" UHM HELLO? immediately on my knees. i am such a sucker for poly relationships.

i am so delulu thinking that something like this is going to happen to me someday. let me dream.

i wished we had more backstory about lowlife, johnny and nyx, etc, etc. it would've made the book way more interesting. i also i kinda wanted a little bit more to the story, the ending seemed a little bit too rushed but tbh it was a good read. i'm here for the smut!!!!!! also, i kinda got confused with the dialogues, i didn't know who was saying what and also i kinda had a hard time picturing the boys, i wish there was more description of them and nyx but well...

live laugh love reverse harem books and rockstar romance!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was very entertaining! It got me hooked from the beginning, the relationship dynamics are interesting and the characters are so much fun!

Also, I love the banter between the fmc and the guys. And the sex scenes are amazing. Tbh Nyx’s kinks are my kinks, so everything was very spicy, I loved it.

But…. I have big cons in this reading. The writing was weird, the dialog was broken in a strange way and many times you simply can’t figure out who is saying what.

This was a weird why choose, because the relationships weren’t explored equally. There was clearly a story line more focused in one of the fmcs. The rest of the harem felt kind of flat and didn’t get that much spotlight in the book. Which is not good for someone expecting to read why choose! Also, some major conflicts were resolved in a blink of an eyes without the proper exploration in the plot.

Anyways, this was super entertaining nonetheless.

I really wish I could get back the hours I just wasted reading this…. I don’t rate books lower than a 3 star unless they are both really bad and have several editing issues. This was both. I truly don’t know why I finished it. Literally the only reason to read this is if you need a quick smut fix, and even then, I didn’t feel those scenes were that good. The plot line COULD have had such potential, same as the FMC. But the way it was written was not good. I think what really pushed me over the edge was how most of the men were written, especially Hayes. I think she tried to have some sort of redeeming arc there at the end, but no, he was just a POS. Period. Nothing enjoyable about a single one of those reactions. There was nothing believable about any of the interactions of Nyx with the men. I truly cannot recommend this book, which stinks because I’ve enjoyed some of her other work. It’s like someone else wrote this. I’ve found that with her more recent books in fact.

New, unique, hott, and I couldn't put it down!

This book was what I have been looking for. I am a big reader of this genre and don't post alot but when I do its because I feel like I have to... Similar to Nyx ,the main character that has music in her soul that just has to be made, and just one of my favorite characters ever! This was well written, the characters came to life (especially with one being so damn punch able!) If you Love Love , drama, strength, a bad ass take no names chick that, this genre, and some sexy as sin characters this the book for you! Thank you Kelsey for pulling me from the monotony that can happen sometimes. This book is Amazing and I look forward to read more of your work!!

hands down one of the best rockstar romances I’ve ever read

Kelsey is a genius. I’ve read and loved so many of her books and this one was no different. Zero hesitation, an immediate 5 star rating from me. The relationships between each guy and Nyx are so unique and beautiful and watching not only their evolution as a group relationship, but also Nyx’s personal evolution, was amazing. Nyx is smart and strong and a Queen in her own right, who chooses to keep the company of men who treat her as such (except Hayes. He’s kind of a dillhole for a while there). But overall this book is wonderful and I’ll be reading it again and again. Instant comfort read.

Everything you want in a reverse harem and a rockstar romance smashed into one epic book

The author done an outstanding job with this one. The camaraderie, love, back and forth bickering, angst, heat, ups and downs and everything g else about this book and it’s characters made it my favorite book ever. Kelsey took reverse harem romance and rockstar romance and wrote them together seamlessly in such a way that I wouldn’t have thought possibly and even though there is s*x and extreme steam on this book it is NOT the main focus of the story between these five soulmates who couldn’t have been more perfect together.

I highly recommend to Lowlife to all romance lovers🖤🖤

Awesome Read!!

This book was so captivating I read it in one day. Yeah, I am a true book need, but this book right here was worth the time. The characters were all awesome and even though the plot was somewhat predictable for some characters, for others I was just as surprised at the outcome as the main FMC (I absolutely lover her ❤).

I will say though I wish this would have been a series so I could follow the characters through the growth of their relationship and hopefully watch them change her mind about her early life decisions, the lead up to the HEA was priceless. Karma! Enough said there.

All in all, it was an awesome read and I am now committed to this author.

Revenge is best served with a RH

Nyx is an amazing character. Out for revenge on an ex, but she was in fact taking charge of her life. She might have gotten a little lost along the way, but she found herself stronger than ever. It is hard to say too much without giving away spoilers, but this rockstar RH, is loaded with friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, alphaholes you don’t know if she should kiss him or kick him in the nads. Only she can decide if they deserve forgiveness. I will say the groveling was brilliant and incredibly enlightening. Multiple POVs make this an amazing book. Take a chance and pick it up!

another great book from Soliz

Well if you’ve ever read a Kelsey Soliz book you already know this will be fantastic and if this is your first then great choice!!

I loved this book, the fmc is bad a** from beginning to end! None of that oh she’s a BA until something actually happens to her and she’s falling apart bs but she’s BA the entire time from the moment the story line starts to the last words! I love the RH genre but I especially love a strong leading lady that takes no crap from anyone and Nix is it!

Go on, read it

I came into this book not knowing what to expect. I've never read this author and to tell the truth, RHs have started being bleh to me.

I got caught up in this. I cheered, I got pissed off (Hayes you are lucky you redeemed yourself in the best way possible), and I immersed myself in Nyx's world. I'm exhausted, but I finished it in less than a day. I don't usually leave reviews but this one is worth it.

So, if you've been jaded and want spicy and sweet, go ahead and grab this gem up.

This was a cute read. At times is was a little cheesy, but it is a romance book, aren't they all a bit cheesy?! I enjoyed the push and pull the fmc had with the lead singer, the insta attraction she had for the guitarists and the relationship she already had with their manager.
Anyway, while I liked this book, it was not a literary masterpiece, hence the 3 star rating. For me to give a 5 star rating, the book would've had to have been something I would remember for years to come and while this book was enjoyable will probably be forgotten within a week.

I love rockstar romance and this has some of my favorite tropes so I was expecting to love it… or at the very enjoy the ride. I made it 50 pages and threw in the towel. The writing was not great. The characters had no personality and I couldn’t tell the MMCs or FMC apart when the chapters switched. Very, very little world building or context. It felt like you were thrown into the middle of the story and spent the entire time trying to play catchup. I skipped to the 50% mark and it didn’t get any better.

Awesome book!

Kelsey was able to put a great storyline into a single book. She wrote about highs and lows, and the struggles poly relationships face today. Who cares who you're with, or how many, so long as it's open, honest, and consensual! Hayes' struggles are a bit close to home for me, as we're Johnny's, with the drinking and side dishes (drugs). Nyx is an inspiration and I wish more girls and women could act like her in life. Definitely a great read!
